I am a family member of a regular customer of the Barrie 320 Yonge St Giant Tiger.
The customer purchased 2 products in-store and was unable to carry them home due to her old age and transportation restrictions. The manager on duty that day stated that her product will stay saved for her for the next day until closing time and she can take them home upon showing her receipt that proves her truthful and rightful purchase of the product.
The customer returned the next day, as instructed my the manager from yesterday's shift, she showed her receipt to gain her product. The 2nd manager falsely accused the customer of lying, humiliated the customer, caused a scene and sent the customer home with no product.
I went to speak to the manager, who stated she was "only doing her job". She was not doing her job. She simply had to make a phone call to the manager on shift yesterday to ensure the customer was in fact telling the truth.
Instead, she watched the survaillence video and made false assumptions and wrongly accused the customer of placing the product in her bag (which had no space for the product of that size) and taking it home. She continued to harass the customer by telling them if they return the next day with the same request, they will still not recieve the product which the customer RIGHTFULLY purchased.
I cannot express enough, how incredibly innappropriate the management at Giant Tiger on 320 Yonge St. is. Sarah Boisjoli intentionally harassed a customer and made false accusations that the customer had already taken the product. Her accusation were based on lies. It takes common sense to know that NO ONE would return to STEAL a $10 product.
If Sarah Boisjoli was doing her job she would have simply called the manger on duty from the day before who permitted to the customer that they would be allowed to return the next day and rightfully pick-up the PAID product.
Instead, Sarah made assumptions and came to a false and a ridiculing assumption about the customer and not only sent them home empty handed, but said to the customer that they will not recieve the product even if they come back the next day.
Furthermore, the customer was previously harassed by another employee while shopping on another occasion. An employee grabbed the handbag of this same customer while they were not paying attention and attempted to walk away with it. Fortunately, the bag was attached to the customer and no crime was able to be committed.
In continutation of the primary complaint, the manager who permitted that the customer could return the next day to claim their product should have put their signature on the reciept, saved the product as they stated (the product was not there the next day and the customer needed to get a different one), a label should have been placed on the product, a note should have been placed on the counter informing the next manager and employees on duty of this matter. Additionally, during the time of product transaction the customer requested that the manager put a sticker or write their name on the reciept for future reference, the manager did not comply.
This is absolutely unacceptable and detroys Giant Tiger's integrity.
