I never fail to be impressed by the selection & service at Stedman's V & S Department Store in Bancroft. My most recent visit was no exception. With just a few minutes left before going to work at 9, I found the main door locked, but could see staff bringing merchandise outdoors through a secondary door so I asked if I could come in & they very graciously said yes! Then at least 2 & maybe 3 of them proceeded to help me find what I was looking for & even made suggestions to enhance my project. Kudos to the owners & employees at V & S because I am not sure how service & selection could have been any better. Highly recommend you visit them soon!

These guys are great! I can't even tell you how many times I have gone all the way to Belleville looking for something and come up empty handed, only to come back to Bancroft and find exactly what I was looking for. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. It can get busy over long weekends and such but is basically the type of store where you will find everything you need. Don't know what the other reviewer was talking about, it's cluttered yes, but that's because they have so much stuff! And I found their prices comparable (if not cheaper) than elsewhere. I love this store, hope they are around for a long time!

This is a great little general store that has everything you might need while visiting Bancroft! We pop in here every so often while at our cottage — they’ve got clothes, craft supplies, home snd cottage decor, some hardware things, beach toys, you name it. It’s also a perfect shop to peek around and browse.

You have to love Stedman's. When I see one I have to go in and buy stuff!These small town department stores cram a huge inventory into a small space. The Bancroft store is one of the best I've come across. The clothing departments are filled with reasonably fashionable clothing and there is an incredible range. Love the kitchen section every manual gadget you could want plus you can buy single glasses.

Can't believe how people praise this store. It's a junk store. Obviously there's a lot of people living here that have never been out of Bancroft... Take a drive to at least Belleville or Peterborough to get to some at least half decent stores. This place is sad.

I've always loved going to V&S not just because they carry almost everything you need but, you will also find all the help in the world when it comes to finding anything in the store or in town. You may find a few products are overpriced but the majority of the items are priced fairly well if not under priced.

Super impressed with this department store. The prices were very competitive, it was fully stocked, and staff was very friendly. I was especially excited to find a large variety of sewing notions and even fabric! There is a lot of knitting stuff, too. Really impressed with the clothing selection, too. Definitely worth a browse - there is something for everybody.
