This is one of my favourite stores in Edmonton! I'm a cosplayer and can have a hard time finding a good, affordable source for a lot of my materials. This store has really expanded into the cosplay market, carrying worbla products, flexbond, arda wigs and other staples, along with a few costumer tips and tricks that many cosplayers would never think of without the knowledge of theater workers and costumers! Really great selection of makeup and prosthetics as well. Unusual dance fabric? Check. This place has everything.

I will never rent anything from Theatre Garage again, for any event, Christmas, Halloween, weddings etc. I rented a Santa suit for a volunteer run community event this a Christmas where we gave away 150 toys to underprivileged kids, including many children of new immigrants in the poorest neighbourhood in Edmonton. The entire event was organized by donations and volunteers but the Santa suite we had lined up became unavailable. I booked a suite through Theatre Garage because I wanted to support a local company. Apparently they moved to the south side now and appear to have become unsympathetic to the poor in their former inner-city location, because two days after I reserved the suite we had a suite donated and when I called to cancel the rental, still a week before the event, they absolutely would not refund any money. The money could have gone to buying children gifts or food but instead Theatre Garage pocketed the money and kept the suite. Very disappointed!!

I mentioned as I was browsing an interest in special effects makeup and they sent me away with info on their upcoming workshops and the artists to get in touch with for advice and mentorship. We bought a costume off the internet at a huge expense, and big surprise, what we had purchased was complete garbage!! We contacted many places to help us but Theatre Garage was the only willing business to come to the rescue. Christy and Christa looked at the costume and were kind enough to offer their expertise in how to move forward……. even though they were aware before hand that they did not have the products in store to make adjustments for us. They pointed us in the right direction. It is rare to have a business offer advice with no monetary gain. Needless to say, we bought my son a wig, and some funky glass. Their store is incredible actually, and they will have us as customers for life when halloween comes! Lesson: Don't order things off the internet. Support Local.

this is a great place to come and explore the potential your ideas have. the staff members are knowledgeable in not only their respective professional fields but also have a knowledge of crafting in others. When it comes to crafting or design I personally would go into a physical place and buy my items than going online. I can find a better item or a solution I did not think of, get the item immediately and support a local business than just having to mess with a situation such as COD, late shipping, misrepresented items.

Theatre garage online service is outstanding , we are so happy with Halloween face masks they are perfect . Highly recommend their face masks as we will be wearing them for awhile. I have Xmas ones happy with those too. Halloween face masks are so creative and shipped is quick.

Just went into this place for the first time. Needed a Leia wig 3 days before Halloween. (Figured it would be easier than doing my own hair) Staff was so friendly, place has so many things & I loved that I could see where the item was online and then tell the staff and they were able to find it right away. Fantastic staff! Helped me find the right costumes for a school play and held it for me so it didn't disappear on me. Costume selection was also very good. Only downside was that I wasn't allowed to put pins in the jacket (which I assume is similar with most costume rental places)

Great products, incredible service. I have rented from Theatre Garage on several occasions and most recently was looking for a tear-away flight suit. They didn't have one but they supplied several great suggestions of where to look and were then able to alter it to perform perfectly. The accessories (helmet, googles etc) completed the look. Their pricing is incredible especially compared to cheaply made Halloween costumes. The staff is friendly; if you want help, ask for it! Otherwise they are happy to let you browse through the enormous stock. The new location is bright and accessible with lots of parking. An excellent business.

Great costumes, lots of selection, find almost everything you need. However, their online accounts state they are open until 9, when I called to drop off a costume they told me they close at 6. I will be charged a fee for late drop-off, however most of us work until 5 and through rush-hour, good luck getting there at 6. Told me more or less too bad if I am late. No drop-off bin, and I will be charged a late fee if I can't make it there by 6pm. Very poor customer service. Will not be renting there ever again.

Ruined my 10 year Olds Halloween???? after spending $55 for a $20 costume that he was very indecisive about but we purchased anyway as there was very limited selection for children's costumes. we tried to return it 4 minutes later and were refused. Disappointed with my most recent visit. The staff are very nice and helpful but it was the product that let me down. Bought some Kryolan Liquid Latex and tried to use it the same day of purchase. Upon opening I saw it had gone thick and paste-like and did not have the liquid consistency you'd expect of liquid latex. I struggled getting any out of the container, it was like a dense pudding. A big glob came out all at once and started to dry and almost curdle within under a minute, it was totally unusable. I contacted the store to let them know and they assured me the shipment was new and that was it. I felt completely ripped off. Went and got a cheapo brand of liquid latex instead from Party City and got immensely better results. Despite the great staff I don't see myself going back. Update: Staff reached out to try and solve the issue after the first e-mail and it was just a problem with the product and they were unable to get back to me right away. I had limited time to work on my costume so I had to replace the latex asap. Staff advised on a way to make the product usable but it was long past the point of being fixable. The staff there are very nice and this was an honest review of my experience.

I rented. They kept my deposit because they claimed that I had re-tailored the costume when I hadn't. Do yourself a favour, either stay away or take lots of pictures with time stamps as soon as you rent. I would have liked to like this business, but I am completely disgusted with my dealings with them.

During the Covid lock down I was in need of materials to create fabric masks. Thankfully I was able to get assistance from the staff at Theatre Garage and then do a curb side pick up. They were very helpful and efficient. While chatting with the staff I also found out they are more than just a costume store. I went on a virtual tour and found out they have a wide assortment of sewing materials, make up for every day not just for Halloween, etc. Check out their virtual tours for products. The original seamstress for my wedding dress did nearly irreversible damage in the alterations of it and also needlessly took it down a size in the seams without consulting with me first. Instead of going back for more punishment, I was referred to Theatre Garage by a local costumer. The staff were professional, receptive and honest about their assessment of my dress. Initially they declined the work and recommended finding a new dress, as they could make no guarantees of being able to piece the dress back together if the damage inside was worse than what they could already see. But with less than 10 days to the wedding, finding another perfect dress seemed an impossible task. So I asked if they would try. Christa did an amazing job! She turned my dress around in 2 days, not only reversing the damage, but actually making the dress into what it was supposed to be (specifications that the original seamstress had ignored.) The staff were so helpful, skilled and kind. I am so grateful that they agreed to take on the challenge! Highly recommend!

Terrible customer service. Costume was worn out and heavy. I paid extra for all the accessories. Expensive costumes that you can buy and keep at any Halloween store. I asked to return the costume the next morning instead of the night before it was due and was charged another $35. Manager was not willing to compromise and was not understanding of circumstances like poor weather. I paid $200 for a crappy costume that I could have bought new. Absolutely terrible service. I will not go back and would not recommend this place to anyone. Manager Christy Hutchinson was rude and provided very poor customer service. ????????????

For a company that has rainbow flags and other pride things all over the door, you would think they would teach their employees to be inclusive. Lots of variety when it comes to choosing specific getups for either a costume party or theater drama. A little pricey for an occasional shopper. I picked up curly hair for John snow and a red wig for the red woman in GOT. The wig I wanted to pick out for Danearys' costume was over $125 but hair quality was good. Overall nice place to shop at when it's not Halloween season.

They offer one-of-a-kind workshops to gain new skills and/or just for fun which usually include supplies for a VERY reasonable price. So glad that I can get costume specialty items locally rather than having to purchase on-line. Being in the entertainment industry, I find Theatre Garage much better than those Halloween pop-up shops since they carry that kind of stuff year round and at comparable prices! I always seem to be needing those types of items when they are out of season! LOL. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
