Everytime I've been here the staff have been friendly amd very helpful to me. They have a wide assorstmemt of clothing, bags, jewelry, etc but some of said jewelry is pretty fragile, I bought a pair of all metal cat ears (headband) and after taking it out of my bag at home one of the ears had snapped off over the course of the rest of my shopping trip. So, some things aren't the quality you would expect them to be for the price.

LGBTQ++ Friendly store that is fully stocked with youthful items of interest, primarily clothing that reflects throwback+recurring+current+pop-culture themes of goth, hardcore, emo, punk, anime, manga, pride, and more and more and more! The knee-high socks are my favourite, as is the selection of rainbow ???? attire! Expect to wait in line at this location, as the capacity is currently limited due to COVID safety protocols. Although I've not utilized it, myself, another option available is to buy from the Hot Topic online shop and pick-up in store free of charge, or pay for shipping and have it delivered directly to yourself. I'm from out of town and came in specifically to purchase a dress and while shopping I found another dress. My purchase would have been over $100 There were 4 employees working and I had to go get one to open the fitting room for me. Then while I was trying them on employees kept slamming the door to the backroom making a lot of noise. I decided to purchase both dresses and they were very cute and EXACTLY what I was looking for. I walkyd by two employees on my way to the cash, and there were two employees across from cash working on a display. I waited at the cash for 2 minutes waiting for someone to come and ring me thru. After the 2 minute mark I was done with the bad service and I left. The employee did wish me a good day as I left.....not sure why he couldn't have made it a great day by letting me buy the clothes I wanted!! I'm a long time customer and LOVE the clothes and accessories but this experience was so extremely terrible I don't think I will come back Please work on your customer service, it needs a lot of work

I love the pop culture brands Hot Topic has. They always have a diverse selection of items from clothing, to accessories, to PoP! Figures to fragrances and lots more! Staff is helpful and there's almost always someone on the floor to help you reach that awesome new shirt you're about to buy! I give 4/5 stars because sometimes I feel stuff is too expensive, but that's why you save up for what you really want.

Thanks hot topic for falsely accusing me and my friends of stealing in-front of everyone. Making a scene by yelling at us and going through our shopping bags, shaking out clothing that we bought at other stores, looking at receipts. When you had no right to. We were very embarrassed, and confused while everyone was surrounding us while you were accusing us of shoplifting. We were simply back to school shopping and you had us kicked out of the mall. People video recording us, while all of our newly purchased items were all over the floor after you went through all of it. And then get security to come. You had absolutely no right to falsely accuse us of shoplifting and going through our stuff. Thanks hot topic, never shopping here again.

Difficult to determine who works there. Three or four staff chatting behind the till but no one to open change rooms or help with sizes. Wanted to buy a few other things but gave up because I couldn't find the size I needed. I would have happily paid for it and waited for it to be ordered in or transferred from the kingsway location but the teenagers working there were not exactly accommodating. Spoke with two other women that were shopping and they said the same things (ie who works here? Why cant we get in the fitting room? Do they have more sizes in the back?) Hot Topic did have one good staff member I think her name was Carley, she was brunette and had her hair up in a messy bun, she went above and beyond to find me swim bottoms I purchased multiple pairs because of her awesome help. Rest of the staff was pretty dismal.

Great store! Everyone was so friendly and ready to help. Absolutely recommend! Tons of pop culture, and even more niche finds! Something for everyone here! Just make sure you ask for help as there really is so much to see, and many many things hidden since there isn't much space. Some might complain about the lighting and single changeroom, but the employees bring the energy to the dark atmosphere very quickly. The single changeroom creates a common courtesy to other customers to be a little quicker when trying things on so its not a huge issue even you're a courteous customer. Great vibe and so much to learn from the employees! :D

I made a special trip here from out of town for specific items today. I cannot buy clothes online, because sizes vary so drastically. I was sadly disappointed in the selection in store compared to what was online, which were not online exclusive items that i was looking for. There were slim pickings of the sizes of items in stock that I wanted. When I asked a staff member about a specific item, I was told that they were not allowed to take it out of the the back room until the next day. I explained that it was a specific item i was wanting but would not be making another trip into the city just for that item. He refused to take it out and explained that there MUST be a Hot Topic "wherever I was from". It's a fun store, not a bloody Walmart, and Calgary and Edmonton aren't the only places in Alberta. But those are the only places with Hot Topic stores. Also, What store outright refuses a guaranteed sale knowing that they will lose that sale if they won't help out that customer? After thinking about it on my way home, I don't think I'll be shopping at Hot Topic at all anymore. The care I received was far from caring, and I'm not interested in being treated like a disposable customer, whether I am or not.

I am honestly disappointed with the kind of customer service this place provided. I loved the products Hot Topic sells, but it just felt like they didn't care about the customers at all. In my case I was looking for a size for a shirt that I wanted, I asked for help, and one of the staff member's was going to do something. So I asked for help once again to a staff member that didn't seem busy, and he just completely ignored me. He knew I was there, but for some reason he was talking to his co-worker about what time they are going to clock out. Finally, he was done talking, and I asked for the size for the one shirt, and he just looked at it for not even a minute, and said "Sorry, we don't have that size." He didn't even bother to check anywhere if they had the size I wanted for the shirt. Honestly, out of all of the reviews I've done, this store should be crowned king of "Horrible Customer Service".

Extremely rude experience today while shopping at the WEM location. Was getting a tank top down from a high hook with the clothes hook because none of the staff were of any help. As I was STANDING there with the hook the gay retail assistant (only providing his orientation to identify him) comes scrambling over and incredibly rudely says “Excuse me, that’s what employees are for” and snatches the reaching pole from my hand, and gives me a look as if I were a total moron. I had full intention of purchasing some clothes from the store today, but his blatant disregard for PROPER customer service and how a person in his position should speak to people, caused me to leave the store. Neither I nor my niece will shop there again. The guy was an idiot.

The store was not organized and they didn't have many of the items I was looking for. The staff was very friendly although the cashiers kept pushing me to make an account for quite some time which was quite frustrating. Their machines didn't work properly when my friend tried to pay so she went away with nothing even after we came to try again later. Overall I was quite disappointed. Staff is friendly and has a good presence to help you out. Wouldn't call it cheap, but there aren't many places to find kooky pins, temp hair dye, and emo band shirts. If you're a gamer, otaku, or like to dye your hair bright colors: this is where to go.

they've got some cute things but the store is way too packed with merchandise for my liking. constantly having to shuffle to let people by when trying to shop. I don't even know if it's got a change room - I've never lasted long enough in there to find out. much easier to shop online

Great variety of pop culture items. The music is pretty deafening, the only reason i wont rate higher is because i would've loved go have seen some local artists t shirts like nickelback also i wouldve liked some outlander item. But overall a great store that ive been reccomending my friends and family to go check out

Love the store but I find they are starting to profile people more my backpack is my purse it literally goes everywhere I go, I walk into the store they greet me then I go to look at their stretchers and I over hear them saying to keep an eye on me because I'm looking at something. They even watch me when I'm buying products and it makes me feel though that im always there that they assume im up to no good because im a teen

Tons of clothing and other things for the inner (or outer) nerd in you. I shop here constantly, and could spend hundreds of dollars. They have everything from Classic Rock bands, to anime, to studio Ghibli, to Rick and Morty etc. Their online store has great selection too, and the sizes aren't smaller than you'd think which is such a pleasant surprise. I've done my shopping in store and online and will continue to go back!!

Helpful staff. They found the item I was looking for before I even got threw the line to get in. They brought it out and scanned me threw the kiosk and I was out of there. Didn't even have to wait in line or enter the store. Wish more places in the mall used this system.

Cool place for pop culture items, the stock changes all the time too so it's fun to go shop around at, sometimes the sales are just crazy too if something doesn't sell for awhile they just keep cutting the price in half till it does, once got a expensive pair of jeans for 6$ I assume they hadn't sold before that cause not many ppl could fit the 28 waist (I can't anymore stupid covid weight haha) also a good place for neat masks during these mandatory mask times
