He spent the time to explain flat roof in details and took many pictures of my roof to show me exactly what needs to be replaced and why. He also showed me a sample of how multiple layers are utilized to isolate and protect the roof instead of torch roofing. We knew this would be an extremely laborious job but the team completed their work within a week. I cannot say much about the company's workmanship due to the fact that I never got the opportunity to hire them. I asked for a quote for both myself and my neighbour (two semis). When the quote finally came in about a week later than expected, it was confusing. Even though I asked for a quote for both homes, the quote only referred to my home, but, at twice the price of four other quotes received (from reputable roofing companies). I emailed the contractor to ask whether this quote had been for both homes or just mine.... no response. Again, perhaps their work ethic is commendable, but their customer service... not so much.

Lack of preparation for initial visit. Numerous attempts to connect via website finally resulted in a set appt. Gentleman forgot about it and called to apologize. Rescheduled for later in the day. When I opened the door, the first words he spoke were doom and gloom because our home is a three storey townhouse with a flat roof and he would need to return the following day with a colleague to see if the work is possible. Said he has never seen anything like this in his 30 years of roofing. Our townhouse is of a similar design to the majority of infill construction in the core of the city...all around us are similar styles, not to mention the three new homes being built around the corner yet our home was depicted as some odd one of a kind. One would think that prior to visiting a potential client, one would do a little homework, especially if you are in the roofing business. Google maps would have provided insight as to where to park before arriving, and google earth would have provided an eyeball on our home. One would then perhaps call before hand with some qualifying questions. I waited at 9 am for the no-show and had to return home for the 3 pm reschedule, only to be told it is virtually impossible to repair a roof like ours. Not sure if the gentleman returned with his colleague; he's gone radio silent. The courteous thing to do would be to say the job is out of your league.

We used Ave Rd for a complex roofing job and we are highly satisfied. The job: a steep slope with 8 skylights and approximately 2' between the edge of the roof and the property line - which faces 3 small condo backyards. We needed the old shingles removed without dumping them into the neighbour's backyards, and everything redone from ice and water shield to flashing around the skylights, and then of course, better-quality shingles (CertainTeed used this time instead of garbage IKO by a previous contractor). Ave Rd sent a foreman quickly to do the inspection and provide a written estimate that was highly detailed. Everything was clearly explained on site and in the contract. From signing the contract to job completion was 48 hours - incredible! The workers arrived at 7am and had everything cleaned up and finished by 9pm - very fast for what was an extremely complex job (I had 3 roofers decline, simply not call back, or over-price their estimates to do the job because it was too much hard work). Did we pay through the nose for this job? Yes. Was it worth it to have it done properly, guaranteed, with high-quality materials and complete peace of mind? Also yes. Did Ave Rd also make sure our neighbours were placated for any troubles caused to them by the roofing job? Triple yes. Eventually, the remainder of our roof will have to be redone, when the garbage job that was done in 2018 (by a contractor hired by the previous owners of the house) falls apart - and when it does, I'll have Ave Rd back again. P.S. The only other roofer who agreed to do this job claimed he could do it for one-fifth the price of Ave Rd... If a quote sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Don't go for the lowest quote you get, otherwise you'll end up in the same situation as me: a roof done by a lazy contractor with low-quality materials that has to be redone too soon. It's a waste of time, money, and resources!

We called Avenue Road to come in to check on some wind damage and give an estimate to replace the roof. Arron responded promptly, and was flexible about the time due to weather. He was very good in explaining the product available and the options we had. He also provided a very honest recommendation that the roof only needed repair at the moment because the rest of the roof was still pretty good for few more years. He also pointed out other issues that might need attention and provided estimates. All were done in an efficient and friendly manner.The repair team called and made arrangements to do the repair soon after. The work was done in a couple of hours. Though I cannot check on the roof myself, I trusted the work was well done, the work area and the surrounding of the house was cleared of the debris. Highly recommend the Avenue Road Roofing team!

After a really bad experience with another roofing company, we called Avenue Road Roofing. They were able to identify the issues immediately that the prior roofing company had left us with. We hired them to correct the issues which thy did on time, on budget and we have had no problems since. We hired them again to replace the entire roof and to repair the gutters. Great job & service! I contacted Avenue Road Roofing after a tree landed on my house causing damage resulting in my 3 yr old roof needing to be redone again. They came immediately to temporarily protect the holes on the roof to prevent further damage. When they came to do the roof, the Forman and supervisor inspected the structure underneath and discovered several rafters and beams had been damaged badly, they informed me of the issue, and took the time to send me photos so I could see everything. Without delay, their Carpenter was on it, replacing and repairing all the rafters so the roofing crew could close up the roof for the day. The crew were courteous, mindful of my neighbors property and professional. I am thankful I choose them to do the job, other guys may not of noticed my rafters were damaged, as I do not expect a roofer to remove the wood to look inside as it is not normally required when replacing the shingles on top. I would recommend this company for any job, their service is of a high standard.

For my own peace-of-mind I hired an independent roof inspector to evaluate the job after it was done. The independent roof inspector took me up to the roof showed me his method: - lifting random shingles to inspect nail pattern - inspect tie-in to neighbors roof - verified all metal flashings and valleys were new and properly sealed - system appearance was good - etc. The inspector commented that the jobs was WELL DONE! No deficiencies. He was a bit shocked, he stated that this was a rare sight for him. I am grateful to Avenue Roofing for doing such a great job. I will contract them again for other jobs I have planned!

We had the most unethical experience with the estoming services (I would call it highway robbery). I work as an Engineer in the Construction Industry and I hire contractors all the time and I am writing this review so others who may not be privy to the knowledge I have to fall for Avenue Road Roofing's scam of an estimate for roof repairs. Firstly, we have a new baby and so we had to wait three weeks for them to even return our call to send someone to give us an estimate. Once he called to arrange an appoitnemnt with me, he was busy at every time slot I gave him (we are on parental leave so am at home the entire time unless I takle the baby to an appoinmnet). So after arranging the time for Phil (estimator) to come at 12:30 PM on the Thursday, I come home from Baby's morning appointment at 11:30 AM only to find his business card on the door, and that he had been there much earlier where in fact we had told him we can NOT do earlier and hence had agreed to wait a few more days to get the time slot that worked for him and us. I contacted him right away and he said there is no need for his to see the roof as he will send us a quote that evening. I was shocked, as how can you tell what the problem is on the roof of a 3000 Square Foot home without going to have a visual insoection?! He said on repair jobs, they give a time and material based quote meaning he will send two guys on my dime up there and I will ahve to pay for however long it takes them to do WHATEVER it is they may have to do as it is an open ended wuote. I told him that even if that is the case and he does repairs on a time and material basis, I would still like to knwo ahead of time what the problem is and approximately, how many hours or how much money I am looking at for its repair. So while he had told me that he didn't need to go on the roof when I asked him if he had gone up there to see what the leak problem is to give me a quote, his story changed and he said he actually did put the ladder up against my house and did go up in my absence but couldnt reach the top. So 1) there better be no damage to my brand new siding from where he put his ladder up without my permission and in my absence trespassing through my proprty, and 2) what kind of a roofing company sends someone without the right height ladder to access an only two story house!?. Then his story changed again and said he had the right ladder but the roof slope was too much so it wasn't safe for him to go up. This tells me he has not even gone to where the problem area was and he is not telling the truth because the roof slopes changes on different portions of the house and it is only at the front that it is mroe sloped for aesthetic purposes. When I told him another reputable company in the industry actually came up, put their ladder up, went up there, told me what the source of the leak is and sent me a proper wuote and we wanted to get a second opinion and quote to compare and go with the best offer, he told me that the other company did not go based on safety standards and should not go on the sloped roof without tying themselves up and we are free to go with whatever company we chose and that the other company actually put liability on us (we are talking about one of the biggest and most reputable roofing companies in the GTA here!!) . Plus, I have done Fall Safety courses myself as someone in the industry who goes to job sites all the time, and his constantly chaning story was so ridiculous. I just wanted to take the time to write this review for innocent honest people out there who are not roofing expert and obviously, may not have the resources to get up on their roof to see what's what and have no choice but to rely on these so called "experts" for their opinion. Please do yourself a favour and get at least another opinion and/or quote from another comany. It is free of charge but will SAVE you a lot! By the mysteriously blind (on purpose?) quote he gave me, he was at least 5 times higher than the competitor to start with and his was open ended! His customer service is aweful too

As context, I typically don't complain about stuff like this. however my interaction with Avenue Road Roofing was pretty weird. Matthew came to my house to quote on the front sloped porch roof & rear flat roof. From the street you can't see the condition of the shingles on the porch roof, so I asked if I should get a ladder and he said no. He just quoted based on approx size and didn't look at the shingle condition. (which might be fine, but seemed like he should at least look at it).... I took him up to see the the flat rear roof & when up there he said this will be about $10,000 - $15,000. I asked if he could be a bit more specific as that was a 50% price swing. He said no, it'll be in that range... (I guess he had to go crunch some numbers) When he was leaving I asked when he could send a quote; response was "maybe next week".... It never came. weeks later I called the company to tell them about the weird estimating visit & they told me a manager would call me to understand it better. Manager never called. Matthew did though - right away and he said he'd sent an estimate - but it must have got lost.... (good lord, the email monsters obviously ate it along with my homework...). Estimate arrived via email: $6000 for the (very small) porch roof and (get this) $17,000 for my flat roof. $23,000 for a shingle job - holy F&*%! Felt just a tad high (ahem)...... I got quotes from 3 other companies and all were less than a 1/3 of that. I msg'd Matthew back to tell him Id go with another supplier due to price - as they were way out of whack at $23,000. His response said "I quoted you 5K + 12K=17K not 25K. At that point I'd had enough back and forthing with them so dropped it. I got the whole thing done with a 10 year warranty, for $7K taxes in. Tada! moral of the story: Shop Around folks!!!

This company costs much more than other roofers for the same job (perhaps they will do a better job...so maybe it isn't the same job). However, they are professional and more through with the job. We had them come to fix our roof after a leak and a botched job from another roofer's repair. It took a while for them to book a time slot and get someone here, but when they arrived, he did a full inspection, told me the condition of the roof and was honest about how much life was left. Their estimators/salesman (not the actual guys doing the roof) can exaggerate the condition or really make you feel bad about the roofer we previously used, but I'll admit this company did fix the issue and the guy who fixed it was honest and straight forward. I would use them in our next roof and eaves replacement. Just be prepared to know they are not the cheapest nor middle line priced. Like the most expensive of the bunch.

I was in despair at the quality of Toronto roofing contractors. From flakes to incompetents to liars to drug addicts to drunks to fabulous story tellers to contradictory excuse makers to chaotic slobs to utter BS artists! I was convinced that I would never get the leaks resolved that have plagued our old downtown Toronto home for the past decade. Then I called Avenue Road Roofing! Hallelujah! Yeah, I know, this is sounding like a tale of religious salvation. Not quite, but... So Avenue Road Roofing sent out John Malone, who assessed the situation and brought out another couple of specialists to make sure he fully understood the problems that needed to be fixed. Everyone we dealt with came on time when they said they would! How rare! Then the work began, and the workmanship and attention to detail exceeded my expectations. When all was done, a final inspector came out and decided a few items needed to be done better, and brought in more specialists. I was amazed. The job was complex and multi-skilled. They installed new skylights, turned flat roof sections into sloping roofs (as all roofs should be), applied shingles and flashing, and finally installed aluminum siding and trim on the difficult curved wall around a 2nd floor library. They were always on time and very clean and tidy, often working late into the setting sun. Another interesting aspect was when I made some changes to their standard contract. The quote listed all the things they would do to fix the problem, but at the end of the day, I'm not a roofing expert, so a to-do list does not really express my expectations. I changed the contract to basically say that the choice of remedies was theirs, but that they would do whatever was necessary to GUARANTEE NO LEAKS, which was my goal. And that was what we signed and Avenue Road Roofing honored that condition. So after many years of feeling like I was running a sheltered workshop for ethically-challenged roofers, I am today comforted to know that Avenue Road Roofing is on the job. They will be my go-to guys for all roofing problems. Now I have to convince them to come up to the cottage and deal with the roof there!

Cedar Shingles on the front of my house. It took forever to get the scalloped shingles, initially supposed to be black, We went for plain for speed, but they also took time. The end result is great( many complements), the workers were excellent. Stain will come next year.

I had several people come look at my leaky roof. They all knew where the leak was and had quotes from 1.5 to 5k. None of them actually found the leak. Avenue came in found the leak and charged me 500 bucks for a repair that was done 3 days later. I’ll definitely use these guys again if needed.

roof and eavestroughs were competently installed, roofing done by 3rd party. Unacceptable that they wanted $1,040 surcharge! ... because of very sloppy record keeping. When the roof was installed, I was at home, and workers made no mention to me of any “roof rot”. Yet 2 weeks later, I was informed via email, of a $1,040 surcharge for plywood (“wood replacement, due to rot”). When I questioned this, I was emailed a photo of wood rot … on someone else’s roof! Cell phone photos contain date/time and location information (easy to use technology), which Avenue Road Roofing couldn’t bother verifying, before sending the photo. There is no excuse for sending a photo of someone else’s roof rot, or claiming surcharges 2 weeks after the work was performed. When I complained, GM “Craig Bennett” gave no explanation why I was sent the wrong photo; and since they hadn’t yet formally invoiced me, this $1,040 mistake was no big deal. I find his explanation unacceptable and their record keeping sloppy.

It is just great to know that this is an honest and ethical company. We needed a new roof after racoons and squirls did a number on our roof. We had the roof done about 15 years ago. The shingles were coming off, had 15 holes in the roof, etc. We started the process of looking for a roofing company, and I got Avenue Road Roofing from a google search. I filled out the online form for a quote. The next day Andre came to our place. Andre walked us through the whole roofing process. He gave us a quote and went through all the requirements and what needed to be done. Andre explained to us, and educated us on roofing, so we felt very confident that he knew what he was talking about. He showed us that Avenue Road had an insurance license. We did our due diligence, I got four other quotes. No one compared to Avenue Road Roofing in their thoroughness and professionalism. We were very pleased and went with Avenue Road Roofing. All the crews came on time. They were all very professional and cleaned up the whole time. We felt this was the easiest home renovation project we have ever done. This project was running so smoothly under Andre and the Avenue Road Family that I would highly recommend Avenue Road Roofing. My neighbors have commented of the great work Avenue Road did. I feel very confident recommending Avenue Road Roofing.

I had an upstairs bedroom window leak and assumed that it was a roof shingle problem. Elias Mullai came to inspect and found a deteriorating attic window was the problem. He fixed it with caulking that will last until I have the window clad. And he did not charge me for anything! Elias is a wonderful representative of his company. I can't give him and Avenue Road Roofing higher praise!

I had a great experience today with the visit of Aron from Avenue Road Roofing. To start, he was on time and extremely respectful. He took the time to explain the assessment done on my roof and gutters and he made great recommendations. He actually spent time testing the level of the gutters by pouring water and that test gave me a piece of mind since I thought they were all clogged. In addition, he was able to share with me all the pictures taken of my roof. Overall, I had a great experience and I highly recommend Avenue Road Roofing.

I would avoid this company at all cost. They estimated a roofing job in the fall of 2018 when I was asked about payment I told I would arrange it. They sent over a credit application for a company called Desjardins out of Quebec. I sent back the application, they approved it and did not talk with me again until the spring of 2019. In the spring they showed up and completed the work, in doing so they left garbage all around the house large and small pieces of sharp aluminum which my dogs picked up were all over the ground and my driveway. Screens were cut by falling aluminum and so were my garden covers cut open. The financial aspect is a nightmare. They sent the Visa card two months after the job was finished and now Desjardins has affected my credit rating because they say I am late - I should have known and paid them even before I got the card and payment information. When I did get info it took another two weeks to set it up. Avenue Road and their financial partners make for a holly night mare organization. Stay away unless you want your credit rating in the tank.

I had a problem with my roof which is only a few years old, and I had called various companies to obtain estimates; However, Avenue Road was the only honest company that didn't try to up sell me into redoing my entire roof. It turns out I had only needed some minor repairs. If you're looking for an honest company with great customer service this is the place. Although, they're a bit more costly than other GTA companies, they make up for it in providing excellent quality. They're worth every penny!

Had difficulty with this company on the first pass but after posting a complaint on this site, was met by two supervisors who took the job in hand and went above and beyond with their service. I wish it had been this easy the first time through but satisfied with where I've arrived.

The team from Avenue road replaced our peaked tile roof and regarded the flat roof at the back of the house. They did a great job, and checked back in again to ensure things were done properly. They monitored and corrected the work of subcontractors who provided an eavestrough that did not match the others, and even helped fix an issue with a pipe that was unrelated to the roof, at no charge. I found them attentive, friendly and helpful, and the architects who live next to us and have a view down on our roof say that it is a really good job. I would highly recommend them

With all the rain as of recent weeks, my roof sprung a leak. I called around to a few different Roofing companies, only two companies returned my call. I used Avenue before and they were very good. Not the cheapest, but they delivered as promised. So this weekend with the wind storm I had some roof damage, so I automatically called them. I called on the weekend and left a VM as their message said for emergencies, please leave a message as we check these messages regularly and will call you back. It is now Monday 4:30 pm and still not even a call back. I actually called them 3 times first thing this Monday am and only got VM's. So I called another company and they have already came out and repaired my roof. I will never call Avenue again - they lost a repeat customer.

Unreliable and unprofessional. Mark was supposed to come to give us an estimate on July 4th and cancelled it last minute as he had a bad sore throat. The appointment was rescheduled to July 11 and again Mark was no show and never phoned and as to why he could not make the appointment. So we have decided not to use Avenue Roofing because the actions of their staff speak volumes about them. Totally unprofessional and what a waste of our time as on both times Mark kept us waiting.

I called Avenue Road Roofing on a Friday afternoon to arrange for a quote - the administrator was friendly and answered my questions. She then arranged for an estimator to call me and arrange a time to come to my home. Phil called on Monday and set up a time for Tuesday morning. He was very understanding of my concerns about COVID and explained that he would be able to communicate with us, socially distanced, by phone. He was very courteous and gave us a quote, and also was honest about what needed to get done, and what could be left until the roof was in worse shape. He texted me pictures of the potentially problematic places and I appreciated his professionalism and candour.

I requested a quote for renovating our roof cempletely, replacing the old shingles, eavestrough.. etc, they called me after eight days then we arranged a meeting for four weeks later to my house for inspection and getting the actual quote. Avenue Road replaced the gutters on my neighbours house yesterday and today and the job looks good. However, they put their ladders on my property and moved my lawnmower amongst other things and left the lawnmower in a precarious spot in my front lawn and it rolled down my lawn into my driveway. Not happy...I was at home and nobody knocked on the door to ask to use our property to do the job or move our stuff. There’s a fence, it’s clearly marked, really disappointed. We had our gutters replaced two months ago, I won’t mention the company but they did a good job and didn’t have to use my neighbours yard.

This is my second time using Avenue Roofing. Tony and Sunny did an amazing job on the new aluminum siding on my house. Their work is impeccable and it looks better than I even imagined. They really take pride in the work they do and are so friendly and accommodating. They went the extra mile to fix a leak and ensure the job was done right. My house is in a tricky location with tight spaces to work in and it was no problem for these professionals. I wouldn’t trust any other company in Toronto to do roofing or siding work.

In 2013 I hired Avenue Road Roofing to replace the roof on our 2008 house. We used the 50 year shingles and were very happy with the initial install. This past month I noticed a shingle had blown off the roof exposing the attic to the elements. One phone call to Avenue Road generated a response, during that phone call Avenue Road arranged a next day repair. On the day of repair I was not needed and arrived home after work to find them working on the roof. Very professional service excellent attitude and prompt what more do you need. There was prompt follow up when minor details needed some correction Hiring a roofing contractor can be intimidating as the quality of work that is done way up on the roof cannot be easily inspected by me. Elias from Avenue Road Roofing was wonderful. A strip of my asphalt shingle roof came off a few days ago and after I had made an appointment, he came yesterday shortly after the scheduled time. He simply replaced the strip, from right under the flashing, and ensured the flashing was resecured. He explained a few modifications that should be considered in order to keep the roof in good shape for many years. My thanks to him for his work and his offer to complete this minor repair for free. I definitely recommend his work!

In 2017, after my mother and I had a leak through our deteriorated roof and skylight flashing, Matthew Franchi, Viktor Lacka and other team members of Avenue Road Roofing did an excellent job in giving us a new roof, with thick high-quality shingles, a shield against water and ice, a high-quality skylight with an excellent warranty against leaks, and a ridge vent to improve our attic ventilation and increase the lifespan of our roof. Before, we had only a few small vents on our relatively large roof. We did not know that our attic had insufficient ventilation and that that was contributing to our roof deterioration and roof-damaging ice-damming every winter. Matthew Franchi educated us about different venting options, and it is thanks to his good advice and Avenue Road Roofing's excellent work, that we now have a much better ridge venting system on our roof. It is also thanks to Matthew's recommendation that we hired an excellent attic insulation company to fix all our problems related to poor attic insulation (including condensation behind walls, ice-damming, and uncomfortable temperatures in winters and summers on our second floor). A good roof protects the whole home. Matthew, Ed, and Viktor of Avenue Road Roofing showed a high level of professionalism and answered all our questions. Matthew, moreover, provided us with a detailed scope of work. Thanks to Avenue Road Roofing's fine work, we can now have a peace of mind for years to come. Attached below are photos of the leaky skylight we had before and of the new leak-proof skylight Avenue Road Roofing gave us, of our thin brownish shingles before, and of our thick red shingles Avenue Road Roofing gave us, of the black ice shield Avenue Road Roofing gave us, and of our new long ridge vent that stretches for the entire length of the roof.

Joe was very upfront that his proposed solution was experimental but I appreciated his honesty. He and his partner answered all of my questions and gave the most sufficient explanations out of all the parties who assessed our attic (eg., leak vs. condensation). Got a formal contract listing the parts and plan. Cost was higher and time to complete the job was longer than initially discussed. The overall results so far have been great. Would recommend them.
