SouthCoast Sundecks & Exteriors We were looking to replace our 25 year wooden spindle deck railings, leading me to do a Google search, where SouthCoast Sundecks website showed up. We wanted an upgrade to aluminum and tempered glass railings. Their website offered good imagery and information so we called Mike to visit and talk to us about what we could do. His knowledge of products and options gave us informed decisions of the direction we wanted to go in. On-site, Mike and crew worked efficiently, very skillfully and thoroughly. They handled job hurdles amazingly and efficiently. Mike is a true craftsman. We are very happy with the completed results. Our decks (and home) now have a completely new look. Michael provided a proposal that addressed all our requirements. A fixed price and completion date was provided. Michael and his crew replaced two 40 metre wood retaining walls with Allen Block walls. installed a new ground water drainage system and replaced five 3 x 3 metre wood decks and railings with "TimberTech" composite material decks and aluminum powder coated picket railings. The finished product met all expectations. Michael provided good quality, met the fixed cost and completed the work to schedule.

This is a reference for Michael Ravenscroft, Manager and Owner of South Coast Sundecks. Michael completed a major deck project for us in North Vancouver. We have two decks on our home, one over our family room and one over our garage. Both decks failed around the same time and were leaking into our home. We decided to replace both decks, install Tufdek vinyl, update the railing system to “top less glass panels”, and add new color coordinated posts that match our house better. Goal was to have a more durable and longer lasting deck with an enhanced view. We called multiple contractors, received multiple quotes and ultimately decided to go with Michael. Michael knew what he was talking about, he presented himself well and had a casual yet genuine caring attitude that instilled confidence in his ability. Michael also had some good ideas that ultimately enhanced the project. Note: Michael’s quotation was not the lowest priced bid. Our project is now completed, our decks are waterproof and our view is enhanced. There were a couple of delays and engineering curveballs that happened related to our new railing system. Post width and glass thickness required changes to the original design and quote. This was due to revised wind and earthquake code/engineering specifications. This caused our project costs to change, Michael passed the incremental charges along at his cost due to this unforeseen project price change. Good news is our railing system is built to the latest code and is safe. I would recommend Michael and South Coast Sundecks and Exteriors, Nelson’s North Vancouver

We just had our back deck, and a small balcony recovered by Michael and Southcoast Sundecks, using their rustic plank design of vinyl. We found Michael to be very knowledgeable and committed to the quality of the installation as well as our satisfaction. We chose Michael on the basis of his product and obvious experience; we could tell Michael was a professional and would ensure we were pleased with his work. He was not the lowest price but he was competitive and his work was outstanding. Michael and his crew arrived on a Monday, and they worked hard and consistently until our job was complete on the Wednesday. It was important to me that Michael be on-site for most of the work, and he was. The crew worked hard, and cleaned up the job site each day, including the day they were done. Michael encountered an issue with our stucco and just dealt with it as part of the job, no extra cost, but an improved seal with the flashing he installed. We are very happy with our new deck, it has added value and joy to our outdoor living, and we would recommend Michael and Southcoast Sundecks without reservation. Great product, great service, expert installation.

The work included removal and replacement of the existing cedar sundecks at the rooftop levels of the four townhouses in our strata. The new decks were built from ‘Trex’ composite boards, and all four owners here are literally stunned by the beauty, precision, and workmanship of our new decks. The rooftop locations posed particular problems of access, and you devised and installed a custom scaffolding system that worked exceedingly well and meant that all the work could be done without access through the interior of the townhouse units. You provided Trex-certified and trained installers to ensure expert installation and the 25 year manufacturer’s warranty. The icing on the cake was that the job was completed on time, on budget, and for a competitive price as well. Although he didn't want to criticize someone else's work, he fixed the mistakes that were made and did an excellent job with the vinyl.
