Had our fence replaced by this company a couple of years ago. Very frustrating experience. They tore down the old fence on schedule, but then did no further work for weeks. If this had only affected us, we wouldn't have minded as much, but our neighbours were also affected (including one with a dog who couldn't be let into the backyard for that entire time). Premier never gave us an update about the delays unless we contacted them first. After the work was eventually completed it was several weeks more before they removed the old material and trees that had been removed during the fencing process (the removal of which had been included in the contract). After being reminded once they eventually came and took some of it, but had to be called again to remind them that everything hadn't been collected. I understand that sometimes contractors get behind schedule due to things outside of their control, but the communication from Premier was almost non-existant and made for an unnecessarily stressful customer experience.

We just recently had a second story deck installed with Premier Fencing & Backyard Solutions and are very happy with the final result. They were able to tie the design into our pre-existing lower deck very nicely. The cost was competitive with several other quotes we received and actually came in on the lower end. We would definitely recommend Premier in the future! Josh and Brad came out in the middle of March to dig the holes for the posts while there was still snow on the ground. Nonetheless, they worked quickly and effectively. Ron was our contractor and did an excellent job! He was very easy to engage with and checked in daily to see if we had any questions or concerns. He was very open to any minor adjustments we had and ensured everything was just the way we wanted it. His craftsmanship and attention to all the fine details was excellent and he took great care in making sure the workspace/yard was cleaned up of all debris before leaving. I was blown away at how quickly it all came together. From the filling of the posts to completion it took less than a week. We can’t wait to enjoy this new space for many years to come!

Like most home owners, we took plenty of time researching who we wanted to install our new fence and deck. In the end, we had four different companies quote the job and we are very happy that we chose Premier Fencing and Backyard Solutions. We had them take on our deck installation last summer, and have them lined up to replace our fence in the spring. From the initial point of contact through the design and quoting process to completion, our sales representative Paul was a pleasure to deal with. He was communicative, professional, open to our input and timely with all his communications. He’s an excellent representative for the company, and our comfort level with Paul was certainly a factor in our decision. He listened to our design ideas and priorities and shared his input, ultimately helping us make the best decisions for our backyard. Our installation was done by Ron, who undeniably takes pride in what he does. If Paul “talks the talk”, Ron is definitely the guy for the walk. As my wife put it “he’s very methodical. You can tell he’s been doing this for ever!”. Unlike some other “professionals” we’ve had in to work on the house, there were no expletives… no perplexed “what am I going to do now??” looks. No untimely disappearances for hours or days, with things half completed. No... Ron showed up, did his thing and left. I felt like Ron was working as if it was his backyard, not mine. Again, it’s evident that this isn’t his first rodeo, and his workmanship speaks for itself. Suffice to say, I’ll insist that RON to do the rest of the work we need done. All in all, our experience with Premier Fencing and Backyard Solutions was fantastic and we are very happy we decided to hire them. They will be involved with any other outdoor construction projects we undertake.

Had a wrought iron fence done. Turnaround time was fast, excellent work, and competitive pricing. We get a lot of compliments on our fence. Also had a raised deck done. The turnaround was slower but that is likely due to the pandemic. The work itself was very high quality. Chris did an excellent job My only criticism would be the communication around delays could have been better. Regardless though, I highly recommend Premier fencing for deck and fencing needs. We had a deck done by a different company at our old house and the difference in quality between the two is night and day - Premier is excellent at what they do and I will use them again.

Crellin Adventures

1st day team came to put posts in. I met with them and they were very confused and disorganized. They asked me where my utility lines were located and had no clue where anything was supposed to be. They had our site plan and quote from Dan that accurately described where everything was supposed to be located. Came home from work to see that my yard looked much larger than I thought it was, so I took measurements of the posts. Wasn't long before I discovered that they didn't take any and the posts were 2 ft to far on my neighbors lot and several inches on the city side over too far. I called Dan and he rushed over the next morning and confirmed what I already knew. Day 2 removal of posts and repositioning to the correct measurements. Day 3 waiting for posts to set. Day 4 a different crew showed up to put up fence and gate. Same confusion no idea what we wanted everything or where anything was going. We asked for a privacy fence and end result was spaces between the boards. We decided to go with a double gate and was told it would have an amazing arch over it that would look better than our neighbors across the street that just had one put up...we did not get this. The second door was not graded properly and will not open all the way. The hardware for the two doors was the cheapest latch on market and has trouble keeping both doors secure. This was not the cheapest quote that we gathered but went with them because Dan seemed like a great guy. Too bad there was no communication between him and his crew. We were left with accepting this subpar fence and gate because it was the last step required to get our newly inground pool filled with water on time. Run, run, run, find someone else to do your job! Our neighbors, still talk about the blumbers and end product we needed up with. The city inspector pointed out to me all kinds of flaws and boards that were to secured properly!

Paul, Dave, and Jason at Premier did a fantastic job, start to finish, on our custom deck and pergola. I have to say that it was refreshing to speak to Dan during the quote phase as he offered many suggestions on how to make our ideas work and told us what would not work instead of just nodding and doing the wrong thing. That's what won us over. Firstly the fence was put up straight and hugged a tight slope at the side of my house perfectly. There was absolutely no left over dirt mess you see from other companies. Amazing! Secondly I had a composite deck built by Premier and Ryan C. more specifically. I have never seen anyone build something so cleanly. There was literally no construction mess ever. Ryan worked very well with us though the project with lots of open communication. His work was spot on. Our deck makes our new house look fantastic. Premier was always in constant communication with us over ever step of the way. This also went a long way to make us feel good about our choice. I utilized Premier Fencing & Backyard Solutions for fencing at a project site for a municipal customer. While there were some scheduling challenges to work through (though no fault of Premier) the quality of materials and workmanship was excellent and there was never an installation or warranty issue. The site is very visible to the public, adjacent to a river, on a fairly steep slope and so the site conditions were somewhat challenging. Premier was more than fair when working through fees for the scheduling changes. Our work was a competitive tender and I priced multiple companies. Premier provided the best value and I would use them again.

In the end we are happy with our deck. Wasn’t the smoothest installation. It began with the guys coming to remove the old deck. They smoked near our house, and you could see the playpen from the door. My wife had to leave the door shut all day. They then left the deck pieces on city property. Paul was quick to get an explanation. When the installer arrived, it seems like he did not have all the information and said he couldn’t read the drawings. There were a few mistakes made but again Paul made it right. Though it did add to the cost of the deck. Paul was easy to deal with, provided ideas during quote and was usually available after hours to help my wife and I understand what was going on, since they just left. When patio stones were missed on the quote, Paul had them installed at no charge. The installer also removed pop cans and other garbage the demo guys left. Paul and the happiness we have with the deck saved the day. We are very happy with it. Edit: We had some warranty work that needed to be done after the winter. Dylan came to complete the warranty work and made some minor changes to the deck to prevent future issues. This was resolved very quickly. We may have some follow up work but I have no doubt that it will be taken care of.

Premier did a great job of building two decks for us that match perfectly. The upper and lower decks look great, along with a cool lighting system they installed as well. When we needed the remote for the lighting system replaced, Dan immediately attended to the matter and now everything is working well. We have also had several unsolicited, positive compliments on the decks.

On a scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being the most positive, my experience with Premier Fencing would be best described with 10+++. If all companies I have been dealing with were like Premier Fencing, I could say that I live in Heaven. During my decision making process, I worried that the chosen fencing company might be late with the project due to the end of season and increased demand for contractors in Waterloo Region within the last year. Dan offered to give $200 discount in case the deadline was missed. No need to mention that they were finished way before I expected it, in spite of several snowy days with a snow being several inches high. Dan and Premier's secretary Tanya were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable in answering all my fencing questions. Premier Fencing crew completed the fencing project in a timely fashion and to my utmost satisfaction. I was not available when the fencing work was being performed but I trusted Dan completely - and he did not disappoint. The only problem I had was that several boards were not placed tight to the ground due to depth of snow during installation. Dan went above and beyond my expectations. He came immediately to ask which boards I wanted to be replaced and the job was done to the perfection free of charge within a couple of days. During that visit, I asked Dan if his crew could fix an opening in the other part of the fence (which was done by the other company or the previous owner), as I forgot to ask about that when Dan was doing an estimate for fencing open areas. Dan quickly agreed and his crew did it promptly for a minimum fee. Way to go, Premier Fencing. I will recommend you to all my friends. If our family ever needs fencing again, your company will be the only one we will call.

Pioneer Pools recommended Premier Fence to us. We consulted some friends in the business who had great things to say about the company as well. Right from the start Nicole came out and measured and viewed our property. We gave her our BIG ideas of what we wanted down the road with pool, deck, hot tub, cabana, the works! We thought we would plan for what we eventually wanted and add things every few years. She presented a few options, and worked with our feedback. We fell in love with the design and ended up doing an over 1000sq foot deck around the pool - more than we had initially intended, but it looked so good! Nicole was with us every step with material choices, colours, advice. The pool went in first, and though they had Nicole’s design, it was set a bit off from the measurements. Tim did the build. Nicole and Tim worked together to adjust the deck to the altered placement of the pool. Both of them planned and consulted how to keep the overall vision, the best flow of the boards and borders, and the change in dimensions. Tim was unbelievable! I would get home from work each day absolutely amazed at how much was accomplished in a day. Tim was amazingly respectful and courteous each day, keeping us informed through each step of the process. He was courteous enough to create a temporary step and landing for us and our dog to get out of our house to the backyard through the build. He was conscious that we had a new pool that we wanted to use and focused first on our access to the pool while constructing. Removing our gate to dig the pool didn’t survive re-attaching. Premier fence built a new gate and fence area, and repaired our other gate to get up to City pool requirements. They gave us suggestions for other areas of our existing fence to improve safety and pass inspection. I wanted to keep my clothesline, they worked it into the plan and installed a new post for the clothesline. I felt comfortable with them in my yard while I was at work and my kids were home. Tim is a solid person, great work, great work ethic. My neighbour watched the process and hired Premier Fence for some work in their property as well. I would recommend them. Nicole, Dan, and Tim were all excellent! It was a huge expense, so naturally I was nervous, and I am glad we choose them for such a large job.

We just had a fence installed in our backyard by Premier Fencing in Waterloo. The first crew (the post placing crew) took a day and a half to complete all the post placements. Brandon and his crew where all very polite and professional and did a great job. A week later Tina and David arrived and went ahead and prepped the posts with the necessary hardware and left. That afternoon the lumber arrived. The next morning bright and early Tina and David arrived and by end of day we had a fence installed and it looks awesome. These installers need special kudos. They were willing to do everything the way we wanted and provided us with ideas regarding stepping the fence and gate design. Like many, 2020 was a year when our backyards were more important than ever before. Having the right company do our fence for us was very important. Premier Fencing came through with flying colours! From initial contact to quote to acceptance, Premier Fencing provided clear communication, a site visit to inspect the property, and offer suggestions based on our needs. Their customer service was amazing though-out the entire experience - from sales to installation, each person we dealt with from the company was helpful and supportive. As for the fence itself, we were so happy to have that final installation done and see the outcome! We had an ornamental iron fence installed at the front and sides, and an large wooden fence at the back of our property. Ornamental iron toppers were added to tie the look of the fences together. Our friends and neighbours have said how sharp it looks, and how much the design suits the house. The installers walked us through each area that was to be done, asking for input if there was an alternative way to do it, and kept ensuring that we, as clients, would be happy with the end result. And we couldn't be happier with our new fence that Premier Fencing installed! We highly recommend this company.

For a company with 90 years in the business I expected a higher level of of construction practices and customer communication. The fence looks good to anyone that doesn’t know basic construction knowledge but things were skipped or rushed and done incorrectly and when I address my concerns, they were not taken seriously till I shared screen shots of our security camera and the owner came on site to verify. The work got done and visually looks good but to someone with an eye for construction this project could have been done better.

They completed the project on time within one month, and without additional charges. Horrible service. How a company can't return calls or emails is beyond me. We contacted this company on a misguided recommendation to do some work on our deck after we got a pool installed. Initially they came out to consult then as a followup asked us to take pictures of our deck and send email to them. We thought this was great. That is until after we had done all the necessary work on our end and then they continually ignored our phone calls and emails. Waste of time. After all of this we were forced to call someone else. There's a lesson learned on how not to run a business. Ignoring customers and having little courtesy to follow up is not it. Don't go to these people. You'll be disappointed.

We recently had a deck installed by Premier Fencing and found they did good quality work. We had a 10 by 35-foot deck build in just three days. Ron who put it together was a fast and tidy worker. During the build there were a few things I wanted changed and these were done quickly. A few days after the deck was finished, I noticed a few imperfections. I sent Premier Fencing an email describing them. They contacted me the next day to arrange a visit to fix it. This they did and I am happy with the deck. I purchased a fence through this company several years ago, and was reasonably happy with the quality of the fence although a few posts leaned after a winter and had huge cracks on installation. However, I was massively disappointed at the level of customer service I experienced recently with this company. A sales representative came on site to one of my new properties to measure and quote a deck installation. She was not very knowledgeable answering questions a barely took any notes regarding measurements or design requests. She left her Premier fencing business card with me and said she would email the quote in a couple of weeks. Premier Fencing just completed an expansion and major renovation of our raised deck, which we are very happy with. The quality of workmanship is excellent and the professionalism and competence of the crew was exceptional. Brad and James were responsible for installing 3 helical piles, which proved to be slightly problematic due to large rocks below the ground, but they worked at it until the job was done properly. Then Ron spent about 4 days single-handedly taking the old deck down and rebuilding it all. He was truly amazing--such a hard worker, and able to work magic with any on-the-spot detail we asked him to change or incorporate. We did have some minor issues with initial scheduling and then the final billing, but have to say that Paul and Dan took care of those issues quickly and entirely satisfactorily. We love our new deck, especially the new black aluminum railing and the stairs. The people at Premier Fencing obviously care about doing a good job and they are very responsive and customer-oriented, along with being competitively priced. It was a pleasure working with them on our dream deck, and we highly recommend them.

We booked an appointment with these guys at 11 am on a Sat. At 11:20am on the day of the appointment they called me to cancel the appointment. We foolishly rescheduled for the following Sat at the same time and SURPRISE SUPRISE they were a no show and this time they didn't have the simple human decency to call and let us know they are not coming. If they are this terrible at keeping appointments I can't imagine how they are in completing jobs on time and to the customers satisfaction.

The first 4 photos shown were some concerns I had during installation of a portion of a large fence project. Dan took the concerns very seriously and addressed them as best he could, even coming on-site at my request to supervise the continuation of work. Although I'm not 100% satisfied with the wood portion of the fence (boards not spaced evenly, gaps where boards barely overlap, even sections where nails were missing from bottom of the fence), I can live with the work done and will correct myself if it bothers me enough. I have since recommended the company as I feel the issues that I experienced were a one off. The page wire / cedar post enclosure in front yard with farm gate has made an excellent space for my dogs to play safely. In the back yard the ornamental fence and black chain link products looks great and the wood fence also looks good from a distance, with exception of the issues mentioned.

Composite Deck An excellent experience I got my two level deck replaced with composite by Premier. It was a challenging job because they had to work around and in the hot tub room. Not knowing anything about Premier and the investment in a deck was nervous. But as soon as I met Nicole, I knew I was in good hands. She listened and communicated with me. They did an awesome job in tearing the old deck down. Tim came along and built my new deck by himself. Amazing guy and a hard worker. Nicole and Tim communicated all the time, which was good to see. Premier will continue to be my first call for any work, which I am thinking about having an ornamental iron fence installed. I recommend them to everyone. Great company. I LOVE MY DECK!

The team at premier deck and fence are truly the best. From Dan and Dave's experience came the suggestion of a rod iron gate on one side of the house and a magnificent pressure treated arched top gated entrance on the other side that is beautiful. 2 crews showed up the first day on the coldest day in January and marked, dug, and set 50 post on a laser sight perfectly. They professionally managed all of their equipment around our highly treed and garden spaces with grace. We are having work done in our backyard around the pool. First step was replacing our vinyl railing to a beautiful high wood frame with black aluminium pickets. They sent out a fellow named Dylan on July 11, 2019 who did an amazing job!!! His workmanship is outstanding.
