Moving furniture and belongings from Waterloo to Vancouver: After receiving several vague estimates from a variety of movers, we received a detailed quote from Alex Matsias at Canada Moving. Alex answered all of our questions and concerns about the various charges with a pleasant and professional manner. He asked us questions about the layout of the destination and explained other things which needed to be taken into account. As a result there were no surprises or additional charges! Exchanges we had with office staff were professional and courteous, as well. The driver, Rob, called us from Ontario to say when he was leaving and then followed up once in Vancouver with a time and date. He arrived on time with all of our things in perfect order - well-wrapped and carefully packed - nothing broken or missing. Rob and his helper, Croc, had everything unloaded in short order. It's great to see pros at work, deftly fitting massive antiques through doorways without a bump or scratch. Very pleasant guys, too, who seem to enjoy their work and take pride in doing it well. All in all, the move was easy and without hassle or headache, from beginning to end.
This review is for the moving service specifically. I had a HUGE house full of furniture, boxes and rugs, they loaded it all in less than two hours!! These movers were so on the ball and I was so blown away as my moving stress melted away. I would recommended my friends and family
To be honest, I never tend to give poor reviews as I myself am I business owner and I know how much bad reviews can hurt a business... but I felt that this review really needed to be shared publicly. Overall, the move was completed and our stuff was not damaged, so that is a plus... but that's where the good news ends. There were four main things that made this a terrible experience: 1) The movers took what seemed like an excessive number of breaks during the process. I clocked it at about a 10 minute break every 1 - 1.5hrs. Since I was paying by the hour I actually had to step in and start loading the truck up myself. This was really shocking to me. 2) During their breaks, two or three of the movers would smoke INSIDE the truck with all of our stuff in it... again... every hour or so. I mean, come on guys. The smell of smoke gets everywhere and penetrates everything. If you're a smoker, you really do not realize how bad the smell is. 3) The trip from our old place to our new one is about 15 minutes. It took them over 30 minutes to make this trip. I realize that you need to drive carefully when you have a loaded truck, but more than doubling the trip time is unacceptable. My guess is they stopped and took another break during the drive. 4) At the end of the job, they billed me for an additional hour of labour. The move took them about 7.5 hrs (with all the ridiculous breaks) and they billed me for 8.5 hrs. Bonus #1: they also threw all their cigarette butts on my driveway. Real classy move. Bonus #2: I called them to voice my concerns about the move, and the lady on the phone said that she'd escalate my issue to appropriate person and he'd call me back... Surprise surprise, never got a call back. Hopefully what this review provides to you is a list of questions that you'll need to ask ahead of time so that you're fully aware of what's going to happen on moving day.
They did ok on the first day, but then they said that it was too slippery to finish the work that day. We all agreed that they'd come back the next day in the morning, however they decided not to, and didn't finish moving what was left in the house. All in all it was not a good experience, and I do not recommend these movers. Unreliable.
They did a great job moving in a heavy snow. I'd say it's well worth the money!
We moved with Wilke in early June, and cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Leading up to the move, we had access to packing boxes and materials through their warehouse - it was worth the price just to have that access. It took a lot off our already full plates. On moving day, our crew arrived bright and early. They were professional and fun - and SO FAST! It took them under 2 hours to load out all the boxes and furniture in our house. They were prepared, tidy, AMAZING. If you hire Wilke, YOU had better be ready -- we were still packing the last few boxes while they waited. Unfortunately for us, our move went sideways on the other end. Wilke could have taken serious advantage of us when our new house was not vacated on time. They didn't. Our crew stepped in and helped us out immensely, making the time to store our belongings safely, and returning first thing next day to smooth our bumpy transition as much as they could. We truly appreciated Wilke's professionalism and skill. A good mover is worth their weight in gold. HIRE THESE MOVERS.
The team that did my move over two days was amazing! They were very professional in every way possible. They wrapped and moved all the furniture with great care. Not a single piece was damaged. The guys worked during very high humidity and heat with great energy. They were unfailingly polite with us, offering help whenever we lifted things. Plus, and this was the best part, they worked as a team, encouraging, helpful and respectful with each other other at all times. I would definitely recommend Wilkes to friends for their move. This team was 5 star! Thank you!
Very nice place to work.
Did not keep the promise to finish the leftover!
I moved to a downtown Toronto condo from a Kitchener house and it went so smooth that I contracted Wilke to move me back to Waterloo 1.5 years later. They are so professional. Not a scratch and they came in on budget.
We had a great experience with Wilke movers. They were efficient and professional. I had read so many bad things about moving companies in general that I was really worried, but I wouldn't hesitate to hire Wilke again if I were to move. They do charge you the time to and from the warehouse, but in my experience that seemed to be standard among moving companies.
I haven't actually used them, but did witness one of their drivers using the roundabout at Homer Watson and Ottawa illegally. At about 7:45 this morning one of their sprinter vans used the right lane of the three lane roundabout to take the third exit. Not only is this not the correct lane (which the signs CLEARLY show) it is extremely dangerous. They could have easily caused a large accident (where they would be 100% at fault) and been charged with careless driving. I don't think I'd be comfortable using this company after seeing how their employee was driving this morning.
We used Wilke Movers Waterloo Branch to move some inherited furniture from Ontario to the Chicago area during Covid. We had hoped to rent a truck and drive it back ourselves but the Covid restrictions made it difficult. These movers were great in every way. They communicated well, they were on time, they were careful with the furniture, and the price was competitive. We moved a lot of antique heirloom furniture and a piano. They were expert at every stage of the way. Highly recommend! The 2 people we talked to in the office, Janet and Alex, were responsive, helpful, and patient. Our truck driver, Leroy, was the best. Thank you, Wilke Moving, for making a stressful situation much easier!
I would show less than a star if Google would let me. These movers stole my good friend and co workers engagement ring during his move. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS. They were given ample opportunity to return the ring and Stratford police were notified...
Be careful with this company. They charge you for the time they take to and from their warehouse in addition to the actual moving. This added extra 2 and 1/2 hours to an 8 hour move which added $330 in total. My first time being charged like this and they defend it based on the fine print on the contract. You won't hear about this when you talk to them on the phone when getting an estimate. Overall, not very happy to say the least.
Great experience with this Wilke Movers, from getting quote to the actual move. The whole process was very professional and would recommend this company to anyone with no hesitation. Thanks to all who helped.
We had a great experience with Wilke movers. After our internet Quote, someone was sent for an accurate estimate. Couple of days before the move we collected as many boxes, tapes and packing papers as we needed from their office. On our moving day, three very experienced, friendly movers arrived on time, carefully packed the remaining items and quickly took care of everything. The whole process went very smoothly and we paid the amount that we expected as per the quote. Thank you Wilke team for a stress free move.
Best moving company. Attention to detail, guys are really professional. Highly recommend.
Start to finish, we were very impressed with Wilke Movers. The quote we received after a personal home visit was on point with the final charge. The three movers who helped us were friendly, respectful, careful, and very professional. We were happy with the care that went into protecting our floors and carpets, our belongings, and the rest of our home (old and new). I will be recommending Wilke Movers to Family, Friends, and Colleagues.
We were very impressed with their services. They arrived on time and we're respectful of the homes and items, putting down mats on the floors and stairs and carefully wrapping all of the furniture. The three movers we're friendly and polite and took care in their work. Also impressed by their resourcefulness dealing with large item removal when faced with tricky staircases. No surprise fees and done within the timeline they quoted. Overall we were happy with the service, would use them again and would recommend to friends/family.
We recently moved and used Wilke Movers. Alex came to our house and was courteous and professional which was great. After meeting with him, we felt as if we were making a good decision by hiring them to do our move. We were WRONG!!!!! It started that when the movers arrived on moving day they spent the first 20 minute standing around drinking their coffee and smoking. Following that they loaded up our house (which we had moved about 60% already); when they were finished, they advised they would meet us at our new house (which was 8km away). They showed up 45 minutes later. As they were unloading items, they broke a vase and rather than being honest and telling us; they snuck it out to their truck. It wasn't until they were about to leave that I noticed it; secondly, they broke our patio storage box and also marked the walls at our new place and old place. Again, these were significant marks and rather than being honest, they just left. They were slow, unprofessional and careless. They also did not put the furniture in the rooms as requested. We were quoted for a 4-7 hour move; we moved about 50% of the items that they had quoted us for and they still took 7 hours; To make it worse, after they left, I had to clean up the property at both houses from garbage and cigarette butts they left behind. When I contacted the office about my concerns, they did not respond in timely manner and did not apologize for our experience. They offered us $50 off the moving price for the garbage and overall laziness (which I have not received the refund for) and then when I submitted a claim, they failed to acknowledge the damage that was incurred and offered us $48 to replace the glass vase and broken deck storage. (Replacement value $300+) Do not be fooled by the nice consultants that come to your house. These people are TERRIBLE!!
These guys helped me out of a real bad spot. I bought a house and as we were getting ready to move from one house to the other my realtor called and said the current owners aren't leaving because something came up and they couldn't leave for another five days Neil stepped up and helped me out with a solution to get me through five days of crap due to the ignorance of the previous owners. The guys that did my move, Dave, Dave and Elliot were top notch guys in every aspect of their job. We had some good laughs through out the whole day. Hope my tip wasn't too offensive. Thanks again
