After torrential October rains, a bad leak started draining directly into my son's bedroom from somewhere on the rooftop deck. Desperate to have someone come out to take a look asap, Chris squeezed in a visit to our house the same day I called in. It took him all of 10 minutes to figure out where the water was coming in--through a hole near where the shingles cut into the deck railing. He suggested we fill the hole with foam spray (which I rushed out to buy at Home Depot) and low and behold no more leak! We are so thankful not only that Penfold's having a receptionist there to answer calls right away (no leaving messages and waiting for call-backs) and even more for Chris' same-day help. He was professional, courteous and really knew stuff. We are so happy and relieved to know the water is no longer coming in. Thank you Chris!

Our first experience with Penfolds roofing was when they performed an emergency fix for a leaking skylight - that no other roofing company would even touch! This company takes ZERO accountability for their negligence. They left the fence to my back alley wide open and, as a result, my bike was stolen while they have 4 workers on the job site, in broad daylight. Insult to injury. The following day that that they completed work on the house, they left the gate open TWICE before I went and yelled at them (this is after they were contacted TWICE by their own management). Then a worker took a piss next to my car in my driveway - I guess they weren't provided anywhere by the company to relieve themselves - and he felt this was appropriate. Then, when a "supervisor" came to check out how a theft would occur he a) did not understand the fundamentals of how locks work b) lied to try and make it seem as though there were many ways the theft could have occurred c) went out of his was not to engage with me d) did not have the decency or courage to call me directly and instead made the office administrator call (she was lovely). Their absolute lack of humanity, professionalism, and common sense led to a theft on my property under their watch, and days of frustration. This company is not reputable and takes no accountability for their mistakes.

For years, I’ve been listening to the Penfolds commercials on the radio and watching and hearing of other people who have had positive roofing experiences with your company. When it came time to do our roof, I already knew that I wanted Penfolds to do it and you did not disappoint! From the moment that Jonathan came to the house to measure the roof and discuss options, we were impressed. Here a few of the specific things we liked: * no pressure approach to do anything from the beginning. Our initial appointment was just to get an evaluation of "where our roof was at” although we knew in doing so that could lead us down the path of actually getting the roof “done”. * at the follow-up meeting, Jonathan clearly outlined the options available and prices, including presenting a contract with easy to understand language and up front displaying of insurance and WCB compliance. It was great to see everything in writing in an easy to understand format. * communication throughout the process was clear, friendly and appropriately frequent (Raina and Jonathan) * we particularly appreciated Jonathan willing to take our calls and answer questions about things we were concerned or unsure about (particularly weather, rain and concerns about leaking) * the care the crew took to respect and clean up our property and that of the neighbours * looking after final details such as the gate not closing after debris was removed and then offering to add inside trim stripping to the skylight as bonus to causing an issue with the gate * attention to minor details such as spray painting the chimney pipes and vents in brown to match the overall look of the roof * having someone come by to do a final inspection to ensure all was in good order. * requesting feedback on the process (Gladys) As you can tell, I would will definitely recommend Penfolds to others. Penfolds helped us out in a small problem 6 years ago. Others had failed. When we needed a new roof in January this year we received a personal visit from their rep who took us through all the details (cost, timing materials). The crew showed up on the first dry spell in February and had the whole project completed in 6 working days including our shed. One of their workers came on a Saturday and did a fantastic and creative job on that as well. We are very pleased also with the way the payments were handled. I would score 9 out of ten!

We did our roof last year with Penfolds after our neighbours suggested the company. I start with the fact that our previous roof guaranteed 25 years was leaking big time after 15 and we needed to also replace some of the plywood. Penfolds manager did an estimate and was really pretty much correct. The job was completed efficiently and a year later no problems and it rained a lot. Our manager was Andrew Cameron. I wanted to thank Andrew Cameron specifically for always being there when I had questions. Maybe I had too many, I don't know, but I felt he was very responsive and always very informative. DO NOT HIRE PENFOLDS, EVER. We are having the roof of our building redone and the team of roofers have been dropping literal bricks and drilling from 730am for over a month now. Recently, they completely destroyed a portion of our building's internet cables and SHAW and Telus are more than likely going to press charges for destruction of property. Their workers have treated me with utterly gross displays of disrespect as well. STAY AWAY!

We had a raccoon damage our roof one evening. I called Penfolds the next morning and staff were extremely helpful and accommodating as it was forecast to rain that day. They fit in the work the same day, arrived promptly, repaired the damage and cleaned up. It doesn't even look like there was ever any damage. We used Penfolds 10 years ago to replace our roof and the quality of work and service has not changed in those 10 years.

Penfolds replaced the roofs of our 63 townhouse complex in 2008. This was after extensive research and interviews with other stratas who had already replaced their roofs in our area, Penfold's won our confidence and the job. They were so great to work with and their team was courteous and professional in every way. They've stood behind their products and workmanship. We've only had one issue pop up with a faulty vent cap and Tumi and Ron in the office were quick to send a team at no charge. Their technicians Ian and Phil went above and beyond fixing the little problem and making sure the rest of the roof was issue free. I recommend Penfolds and these 4 individuals for maintaining integrity in their company's promise to stand by their work. As a follow up a year later they are still standing by their word and no hassle fix to replace any reoccurring issue with this vent cap product.

Terrible company. Took 1 month to schedule the crew to do the roof. The week of the job tried to postpone it and suddenly a crew is available. The estimator made a mistake and tried to bill extra money. The claim there is rot damage, but they put 3/8 plywood on top of the rot anyways so the shingles lay flat. When the job is done, tried to bill extra to me again. I will take this to court if necessary

Huge thumbs down to these guys. Can’t comment on the quality of their work but they damaged cable and internet lines to multiple units in my building. That leaves us without a connection indefinitely until they can work on a fix with Shaw which will involve dismantling a lot of the work that they have done. These are words that I thought I would never think of when it came to this industry, and yet here I am writing them due to the wonderful experience, that I had with the Penfolds family. I had become weary of trying to find a contractor that could assist me with my home roofing project. I had interviewed a number of roofing contractors prior to contacting Penfolds, and had become very uncomfortable with the vagueness of their approach, over pricing and lack of knowledge towards my general questions. With Penfolds, they had redefined what every homeowner wants to experience with a roofing company . This company exhibited true value in the quality and competitive pricing in the variety of their product line. Not only is their workmanship and products guaranteed with a transferable warranty if my home was sold, but they stand behind each home project with integrity. The company is well organized and had displayed professionalism at every level of the process I went through from initial interview, product review, quote, contract review, signing, pre inspection, starting my roof job, daily clean up, daily field supervisor inspection, final job review and closure. I had initially contacted their company online and was contacted within a few days by Chris McCready, Technical Advisor. He met with me promptly at my home, went over all of my roofing concerns and took the time to photograph and to document my home in detail. Chris was able to study my project and to recommend product options that suited my needs, for the specific area of the city that I live in of Coquitlam. What I found absolutely stunning about this company is the depth of what they can do for problem areas of my roof. I had explained to Chris that I had an overhang that was too short in the face of my home, and 3 other areas that had water overflow problems which damaged my sub fascia and face fascia. Chris has an intimate knowledge of roofing designs and explained to me their ability to correct problem areas of my roof as they have a professional carpenter team that works on site. No other company that I had interviewed had this kind of depth and was willing to address any of these roofing issues or to offer me options. Others were willing to let the problems continue as long as they got the roofing contract. The workmanship that I personally observed the carpenter(Thomas Klattenhoff), perform on my house was beyond breathtaking and best of all affordable. There are no words to describe the value, safety and peace of mind that has now been awarded to me. It took over a week to complete my roof and I had the pleasure of meeting and observing my team of 3 roofers go through their daily ritual of clearing the old tiles off my roof, preparing the roof and installing my Twin Ultra Rubberized Asphalt shingles. The crew was respectful to me, my home and showed great care in completing my roof project. (Ricky, Ryan, Joseph) They were very well experienced with this type of roof conversion from concrete tiles to asphalt shingles and coordinated the project daily with their field supervisor(Brian Sangster) and on site carpenter. From start to finish they were on time and on budget. They acted as a team and pulled together. Once the project was completed, Chris McCready, Technical Advisor and Brian Sangster, Field Supervisor, each took time to follow up with me on my project. They reviewed the roof in detail before final closure of the project. With Penfolds you are not just getting a roof, you are getting true value, overwhelming integrity and professional staff working on your roof project. Given that this is one of the most important home projects that I had to address, I am happy that I selected a company that had depth of knowledge, experienced staff and a family that stands by their name and workmanship. Penfolds completed our re-roofing a number of years ago, and following some challenging original house design flaws, designed a secondary flat roof drain system that works 100%. The replacement roof is now 14 years old and looks good. We recently experienced a minor roof leak, associated with PVC furnace vents, which was a challenge to locate and fix, but Penfolds was up to the task and we are now dry again. We needed to replace our cedar shingle roof on our Vancouver home so I looked at all the shingle options and a number of contractors. In the end we went with the Ecoroof rubber shakes. I was expecting that Penfolds would be the highest price but was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was. The crew did a great job and kept the property very clean. There were a few minor issues and John at Penfolds addressed them all. The roof is getting lots of compliments from the neighbours. I would certainly recommend Penfolds.

The flat roof on my garage needed replacement due to water leakage and the cedar shingles were also soon due for replacement. I called 5 roofing companies for recommendations and quotes and only 3 of them sent estimators to my home. Of the three companies, Penfolds was definitely the most professional, courteous and prompt in providing me a quote. I corresponded with John Shaw and he was exceptional and very personable and attentive in answering all of my questions, and I had a lot of questions! In the end, I decided to replace the flat roofs and cedar shingles on both the house and garage with new flat roofs and the Eco rubber shakes which have a lifetime warranty. The Eco rubber shakes are definitely more expensive than asphalt shingles but they look amazing and look like cedar shingles - well worth the investment. The Penfolds crew worked for 2 weeks on my property and cleaned up daily. The crew was also very professional and courteous to my requests and no damage was done to my property or to my neighbours. I would highly recommend Penfolds for your next roofing job.

We had our roof replaced in October and despite terrible weather causing delays we have nothing but positive things to say. Adam was super in going over the estimate and what our options were. Roderick and his team were hard working and efficient keeping the work site clean and organized and safe. They were happy to oblige our neighbor with putting aside a pile of shingles for his firewood supply and great about moving vehicles if we needed access to the garage etc. Martin and his team were extremely hard working trying to get the roof on in between deluges of rain and they kept the roof tarped up well at the end of the day. I would not recommend Penfolds roofing. They will be redoing my roof for the third time this year. When I brought up issues, I was lied to and told parts of my roof were installed correctly. I brought in a roof inspector to prove that my roof and aspects of my roof were installed wrong. After their second try of redoing my roof, the inspector once again proved it was installed wrong. Even with the report, Penfolds said that the roof was fine and that they wouldn’t replace it again. They damaged my house, and left a mess all around it, twice. I have had to take Penfolds for to court now. They have tried to bully me, they have mocked me, they have caused a great deal of stress. Do not use them, unless you plan on having someone supervise them through your the process. If you have used them, get your roof inspected, because they may say it’s right, but it might not be. They also asked if I was going to be around in case they had any questions. They got all the equipment and supplies and let me know when they would be going for lunch. I have never written a review before but I have to take my hat off to Penfolds Roofing. They put a new roof on our home. Our home is a 3500 SF rancher. We bought it knowing there were issues with the roof and learned last winter it was worse than we anticipated. Parts of the roof are metal and parts are flat. There is an interior drainage system under the roof and lots of skylights. It was an extremely complicated roof to re-roof I am told and I believe it. There were crews of Penfolds guys here for 3 weeks doing the job in the height of their busy season. I was extremely impressed with Penfolds and in particular Jason Pistawka. I frankly think they may have under quoted the job given the unique nature of the roof and the complexity of it. They didn't complain. They stood by the deal and did an excellent job. They even added some improvements to the job for material costs only to avoid ponding on some areas of the flat roof. It looks fantastic and we feel great we can rest assured there will be no more leaks this winter over our kids' rooms. I was really concerned the mildew might form. I highly recommend this company to anyone considering a new roof and Jason Pistawka in particular. Jason organized all the crews, and skylight removal/install people. Jason was was extremely fair and upfront in all his dealings with me. Great company.

The Penfolds Roofing crew has just left after 2 long days of redoing our old roof. My husband and I could not be happier with the outcome. The roof looks fantastic with the thicker shingles on the crest. All the crew was great. They worked hard and steady the first day for 12hours with just a couple of short breaks. They cleaned up before they left for the night. Back at it again at 7:30 a.m. Penfolds is a very well oiled machine. While we were away on vacation the installers came by and completed the roof, it was like returning to a new home. Penfolds Roofing was recommended to us by a friend. Found the company and representatives to be professional and knowledgeable through out the process. The sales representative was very helpful on the phone as well as when he came by to consult and show us samples as well as make suggestions. We had some small additional work done and their carpenter came by in advance to check what needed to be done. Though there was a bit of a delay due to lack of shingles [the ones we picked] and the carpenters availability [jobs before us taking a bit longer] once things got going the crew was very fast and efficient. We had the roof replaced twenty years previous by another company and the difference in professionalism and quality of work was night and day. -The clean up afterwards was very good though they did miss a bit in the back under the deck, a few minutes work on my part, but nothing that I would complain about. The roof crew was excellent, fast, and efficient as well as quite [as quite as a roofing crew can be]. All the crew were very respectful of us when dealing with us in person. We recently discovered an access point for critters on our roof, and a call to Tumi in the repairs service centre quickly got us help. Within days she had arranged a service call, and Phil and his partner did a wonderful job solving our problem. Had Penfolds install a steel seamed roof 7 years ago and then solar panels 4 years ago. Roof was installed on time, and on schedule. Solar panels took a while but definitely worth the wait. Both times the staff was very professional and kept me in the loop every step of the way. They also did an excellent job sizing my panels for my house. With a slight change to my habits, I have not paid the electric bill in the last 2 years. I would definitely install the panels and steel seamed roof again, if I had to do it again. (but hopefully not, since both are supposed to last quite long)
