Steve did a great job on our new two level deck. We changed the scope a few times as it was being built and Steve was very flexible and eager to do the job just the way we envisioned it. It is hard to find a contractor who will work with you to create your vision. They worked long hours and got the job done in record time. We would recommend Stonehaven without hesitation.

Job after job these guys never disappoint, I have so many clients that need everything from kitchen/bathroom renos to new Decks and Fences in preparation to sell , I just send in the Stonehaven Trent hills team and the Homes get that facelift that can maximize the sale prices,. The latest Condo renovation was exceptional, thanks guys, and thanks for sending in Steve after the fact to fix that door handle and transition piece that was the extra finishing touch, that kind of client care goes such a long way. Steve is one of those guys who says everything you want to hear. When it comes down to working with him, it was a terrible experience. There was no communication after hiring him. I found myself having to go out or message him alot just to know what's going on. Never knew which days he was just going to show up and text he is here. The project is outside my bedroom patio door. I was not expecting him until sat and he just came on a fri early morning when I was sleeping. His responses are rude and doesn't sound like he cared to make me happy. His answer was always STOOOOP IT! Like I was asking too much and brush it off. I would show him the floor wasn't level, doors were off and wouldn't close, glass having huge gaps then some with hardly any. Wood was twisted and he would just say, it is what it is. In the beginning I expressed my concerns with the wood being warped and he said he would replace any that needed to be and then used them. Now the deck is off and he knows it. He decided that wouldn't make me happy because he knew he couldn't fix any of it without starting over. When the hilicupies were going in they were all complaining it was the long weekend. So Steve and Mike left not sticking around to make sure they were in according to design. That company had to come back because the post was in the wrong spot. Unfortunately they didn't striaghten out the others which threw off the deck and door frame once built. Everything we wanted done he tried to talk us out of. In writing says stairs are 4ft wide, we got 3ft. Didn't get cedar wall that was in contract, railing on both sides or many other things. We went 5k over budget in the end because he didn't order it all in the beginning like I wanted. He didn't mention until the end the inside of roof all the nails would be showing so had to pay more to add pine. Screen is loose and moving around. We didn't get the bug free porch we asked for. I would have gladly paid extra to get what we were asking for. Especially a proper door on lock instead of the hook one he put in and bent because door wasn't lining up with door frame. He kept saying you will love it and it will be all sealed. They refuse to come back and finish their work because they are too busy with other projects now. Apparently Mike's wife says he is worth $500/hr so sounds like our job isn't worth finishing ???? He blocked me and others on Facebook that went through similar experiences so all you see is good reviews and that is why. He sent me a message on Facebook to say to hire someone else to finish the work, then blocked me. Meanwhile I was left with a hole in my newly renovated bedroom wall, huge stain on a ceiling tile in basement, screen not installed underneath screened in porch, wood by patio not screwed in place. Wasn't up to code for inspector, told him hubby would fix. There were nails by glass not in all the way sticking out. Caulking that was applied way too thick leaked out on glass on second level glass, on outside one, so not easy to get too. The inspector even said the window system that was installed was not good because you have to remove all caulking to take out frames to tighten then recaulk everytime. I didn't expect to have to do this right after. Underneath deck where his brother installed electrical wire a piece of the deck was moved and not put back. Inspector was going to get him to come back. At this point and unwilling to fix the work I didn't want him on our property. He was yelling at me during pandemic with no mask on, was being disrespectful. My partner was there and heard it all. Steve packed his stuff, said he would be back the next day to finish the work and guess what?! He sends a Facebook message to say to hire someone else and then blocks me. Why would you waste over 10 pages of contract to say your going to finish the job and then not? With all the things I didn't get, that was in the contract. That includes our conversation on Facebook with what we agreed on, did not happen and would not recommend believing anything he says.

We hired Steve and crew to build our new deck. Steve took his time explaining the process and schedule to us. This was a large sum of money for our family and Steve delivered on budget and on time. I hired Steve to build a deck at the front of the house and the back of the house and repair my shed. I had a vague and general idea of what I wanted. Steve was patient and listened to what I asked for - even though I wasn't always clear about what it was! He and his crew were there every day and transformed my outdoor space into something I couldn't be happier with! Both decks are perfect for my home and my lifestyle. I am thrilled with them. The shed was old and actually beyond repair. He built me a brand new one from the ground up! He had to remove the old materials and do some work with the landscaping too. All in all I am extremely happy with the outcome. Steve is a reliable contractor with good innovative ideas and quick turnaround time. We had to have a hot tub installed and needed a new deck to support the tub. He demolished our old deck, designed a new one and built it to specs in about a week. We can now enjoy our hot tub and enjoy our wonderful view from our fabulous new deck for the Christmas holidays.
