Never have I seen two companies come to quote for the same job arrive at the same time only for one of them to look at their competitor and simply hop back in their truck and drive away without even quoting the job. It was at that point that I knew the remaining company (Performance Heating) was seriously competitive and were the clear cut option. My ac unit stopped working and I was undecided whether to try to repair or replace as it was an older unit. Initially, I contacted the "big three" - Enercare, Reliance and Mr Furnace. Each cared more about selling and even upselling. Mr Furnace would not even provide prices. I decided to contact smaller vendors. One was Performance and within the hour Carlos arrived. He was aware that I was either looking to repair or replace. He immediately said lets try to repair it first. Minutes later he had the ac working. It was refreshing to find someone who had the customer's best interest. Any future calls regarding heating or cooling I know who to call and who not to call. Two thumbs up for Carlo and Performance!

Brrrrrrr it's cold when your furnace stops working. You better call this place if you want years of knowledge experience and professional prompt service all and very reasonable rates. I had a difficult to diagnose intermittent furnace issue requiring more the one visit and was dreading the bill as I know how expensive some HVAC places can be. These guys laid out my options and worked with me to save me some decent amount of money. Now I'm toasty and warm and couldn't be happier.

I had signed up for a monthly maintenance plan with another company, but they tried to upsell me both times. The second time, the maintenance guy said that there was leak and he suggested going with relocating a/c, installing new lines and a whole new a/c unit. I thought I should get a second opinion and called Carlo at Performance. Doug came out that afternoon and he said it was too cold that day to properly check function of a/c anyway and so I called them out once the weather got warmer. Their response time is amazing. Doug took a look at things and so far, my air conditioning seems to be working! I called the other company to cancel my monthly maintenance plan. Thanks to both Carlo and Doug! It's such a refreshing change to deal with a company that values their customers.

Originally I posted my 1 star rating immediately following their work at my home (and 3 returns to address concerns after they installed it). The communication was terrible and unprofessional (an understatement) - don't criticize their work! One year later, I'm here to update this review. If I could rate ZERO Stars, I would. I had another company, one winter/11 months later, come to my house to correct all the installation work and PVC pipe work that was initially done. I would not recommend this company. I will even go as far to suggest others have the work inspected that they did. Rated 5stars blows my mind! I may have been oblivious had I not been having the issues I had and hired an different company to check it out. (That's how much I didn't trust going back to Performance) The installation of my furnace did not follow Manufacturer Specifications and the gas pressure was not adjusted... the Intake and Exhaust pipes needed to be entirely redone/rerouted, and I could go on with all the other items that were corrected but I won't. Be cautious - you get what you pay for.

I emailed Carlo desperate for someone to fix a leaking (100 year old) rad valve that no one else would touch. Everyone I tried to call elsewhere told me it would be a huge job and not to bother touching it and just to “watch it”.... what? Until my ceiling is caving in with water damage? The valve was extremely corroded and it was only a matter of time before the leak became worse and worse. I was so worried at everyone else’s response. Carlo called me the next morning after emailing him at midnight and reassured me that he would get this fixed. He came by to take a look, and reassured that everything would be fine and he would get the right guy with all the knowledge to come fix it. Doug came in and fixed it all so quickly with no issues. I was billed an fair price and I am so relieved that I can sleep at night again. Doug who fixed the valve was extremely kind and answered all of my questions. Our air conditioner would not turn on this summer. We had a different company come out to do some diagnostics. They attended for 5 minutes and told us that we would need to replace the entire unit because mice chewed the cords and it wasn’t salvageable. Before going through with the purchase of a new unit, a friend recommended I call Performance. They were willing to come out next day to take a look. Cody attended and told us right away that it was a quick fix and did not need to be replaced. It took him 30 minutes to fix our unit as he had all the parts with him. Called because our furnace went down overnight. Called and was told that someone would be there by 3, Carlo showed up 1 hour later and diagnosed it. Within 20 minutes a crew was here to fix the problem, they noticed an issue with the exhaust pipe at the foundation wasn't really hooked up. Quickly fixed the problem, CO2 had been leaking into the basement for awhile. Thankfully they fixed the problem before something bad happened. Great local Thorold company with exceptional service from everyone there.
