As a certified energy evaluation specialist, I had the pleasure of working with the Prominent Homes team on constructing a block of EnergyStar certified town homes. The end result was some of the most air tight town homes I have ever tested on in my 10 years in the industry. This high level of building should lead to lower heating/cooling bills and reduction of noise/odour from the outside. I look forward to seeing what this team can do in the future. Outstanding job!

The attention to detail, the timeliness and care are exceptional. The quality of their base model home is extraordinary. The contractors that work with Prominent are true craftspeople. They all work together as if they were building their own home. The work site was kept clean and tidy, the workers were respectful and quiet. Our new neighbours were most impressed! I could not have asked for a more professional, responsive and overall super nice building team! Also, special thanks to the framers and insulation guys (sorry, I don't remember their names). They did a great job! Sam helped me improve my own dream home design, and the result is spectacular. My home is comfortable, functional, and very energy efficient. The energy shield insulation on the outside of the home makes such a big difference. There were a few hick-ups during the construction, mostly due to delays of my special order windows, but the Prominent guys handled them with grace and efficiency. I would highly recommend Prominent to anyone who is looking to build their dream home. <3

Their friendly and professional staff explained the entire process to us. We chose Prominent Homes because they were very accommodating and understanding while we navigated our change. We can’t say enough about the wonderful people at Prominent Homes. To say that our experience working with them has been fantastic, would be an understatement. In 2016, we purchased a lot of land in Port Dover and had then realized we needed to find a home builder who could make our dream home a reality. We received some very good advice from our realtor, ‘contact a couple of builders and be sure to pick one that you would be comfortable working with since building a home is a big commitment and undertaking’. Prominent Homes were highly recommended by a couple individuals in the Port Dover area. Sam Bunting from Prominent Homes was the first builder we contacted to return our call. We met Sam at the model home in Waterdown and knew instantly, that Prominent Homes would be a good fit for us. We were very impressed by Sam and how professional and down to earth he was. Couple that with the excellent reputation of Prominent Homes in the Port Dover area and the quality of home they build, we quickly made our decision and never once regretted it. It wasn’t long before our dream became reality and we had a home design that incorporated everything on our wish list, at a price that was reasonable and affordable. As we were ready to sign our contract with Prominent Homes, we met the owner/founder of Prominent Homes, Brian Bunting and once again we were reassured that we had found the perfect builder for us. Brian’s knowledge and attention to detail ensured that our home would be built to a high standard. Over the next 6 months while our home was being built, we had regular contact with Brian and developed a comfortable relationship built on trust and respect. In fact everyone at Prominent Homes - Brian, Debbie and Sam Bunting as well as their office administrator, Anne have all been outstanding. It doesn’t stop there - their tradespeople and vendors were all fantastic to work with and went the extra mile, making our customer service experience exceptional. Since moving into our new home, we have had many family and friends drop by for a visit and have received so many compliments. Many have said that the quality of workmanship and attention to detail is outstanding. We couldn’t agree more. We love our new home and are happy to tell everyone that Prominent Homes was our builder and they delivered on all of their promises, making the entire process of building our new home a wonderful experience. Based on my experience as an existing customer of Prominent Homes, I would not use them ever again! The builder is far from being Custom Home builder, or Energy Star Builder (they claim to be) - they only conform to Minimum Building Code requirements, and to Tarion performance guidelines.(Please read that publication). If I was made aware of that prior to buying a lot and a home, I would spend my money elsewhere. The builder will tell you anything to close the deal, they can not be trusted, and they do not "Built to Perfection". There is more details to this story - in short I do NOT recommend that builder.

Prominent is truly a disgusting company. Our family put a deposit down on a lot over a year ago in the early fall as we had grown and we needed more space. We were told it would be done by summer, then delaying the process over and over again and to then just raise the price by over $200,000 at the end of it. I know the housing market has gone up over the year, but this is truly just greedy. We understood some things were out of their control with the county and were always patient and understanding, and then a year later to put the price up by over $200,000, now starting the home at over $1,000,000 when we were told 9 months before it was $780,000. Way over priced and awful customer service. Please don’t go to this company, shop around first you will be sadly disappointed. You won’t ever get straight answers and honestly they will take every penny from you in end, and keep adding $10,000 here and $10,000 there until it’s way over budget. Just awful. It’s truly a disappointment in Norfolk County that this is what we get

We have just passed the one year mark in our new home. With exception of a couple of minor issues related to the operation of the mechanical systems dealt with immediately there have been no issues. I have been in the construction business for 55 years and was somewhat Hesitant to trust the construction to someone else, especially as we were planning to be out of the country for the major part of the build. I am pleased to say that upon our return the work was complete as promised to our specifications. I have managed and owned a number of large construction companies and know what it takes to produce quality work. Brian would be my first choice if we were to build another home in this area.

We had a custom house built 2 years ago by prominent. I recently went to install an automotive hoist, just to find out that we only received 2-1/2" of concrete. Industry standard is 4". I Initially asked for 5" of fiber mesh and was told that I did not require that much. The standard 4", is more than enough to safely install a hoist. I trusted Brian. Thankful I decide to check the thickness before installation, or I would not be here to tell you about this review. Brian was quick to remove and repair 2 small areas where the hoist post were to be installed. I wonder if he knew at this point. There was no apology for the lack of concrete. Like I said we paid for 4" and only received 2-1/2". This garage is 1100 square feet. Concrete is expensive. Upon asking for compensation for what we did not get, he continued to get his back up, still no apologies. A good builder would have apologized and removed all concrete and dug down and poured to the correct amount..4". We now question the basement floor, amongst other things. We feel lied too and ripped off. Lord hates a coward. Think twice before going with prominent homes.
