Two service men went under our double wide to find and fix the source of a leak from the hot water tank. They left and quickly returned with the valve installed it effortlessly and will give us a quote for the cost of a new hot water tank and installation. Only issue I have is that we were not informed in advance of the delivery cost and estimate and we should have received a call ourselves.

I called A 1 Heating this morning and a time was set up for a technician to come out and check our furnace. A time was agreed on, later I received a call from the technician inquiring if he could come sooner. Jason arrived shortly afterwards and set about determining the problem with our furnace. As it turned out it was the furnace motor which he had available in his truck. Jason replaced the motor and had our furnace up and running. Jason provide me with excellent explanations wrt the work he was doing and also pointed out other areas that may be an issue down the road. I felt confident that he was not simply trying to sell us a new furnace but rather was giving us the "heads up" as our current furnace is 20 years old. The bottom line? I've informed A1 of my experience and received an inadequate response. I've previously used A1 at a different property I owned and received a stellar install, this second install at a different property went sideways. I was lied to about what was needed; the installers did not come prepared to finish the job, and they did not pull a permit before beginning the work. If you go with them make sure they actually get the permit done before they start the work, I was told on the phone that it's "standard practice". No... not an ok response. They were the most expensive quote I received, I went with them because of previously good experience, and I was let down. Not worth the premium. Seriously, make sure they actually get the permit done before they begin the work.

Pilot light would not stay lit on our gas hot water tank. Sam was at our door in a much shorter time frame than we expected. He was professional, very thorough and explained all things hot water to us in terms we could understand. He recommended, to save money, we purchase our own tank & call back for an install appointment. He quoted us $150-300. However when following up to make an appointment for the install we were told because we purchased our own tank the install would be $550!

Annual furnace inspection was done on a timely basis. Technician, Jo Jo provided good explanations and communication. I appreciate how A1 sets appointments and emails/texts when technician is on their way and who will arrive at your door. A minor part needed to be ordered and I was provided an estimate with an install appointment date. I have an annual service contract with A1 and find it cost effective and convenient.

A-1 Heating/One Hr. Plumbing -> Excellent Service - Very Reliable - Excellent Communication => We Highly Recommend. In Nov.2019 we experienced a problem with our Nuvo Water Softener. Contacted A-1 and when technician (Brad) arrived, he clearly and concisely explained the potential issues, provided options and cost estimates. We selected and new Ion Softener and requested a Reverse Osmosis Water System. Brad installed new systems within one week, at our convenience. We are long time customers and have never had an issue they did not resolve. Thank you!

End of the day a furnace is a furnace and AC is AC. There's so many different options and companies to chose from and the explanation of the different choices/options from the start was great. It was never a sales pitch, just simply explaining what the options were and the benefits of each of them. Where A-1 Heating separates themselves from everyone else is in the install and customer care. We just had the entire Daikin FIT Furnace, AC, Humidifier and Thermostat system installed in our home and the quality of work was outstanding. The venting being run as tightly as possible to the ceiling and hidden all while still maintaining the proper slope for drainage and the overall clean look of the install once done is just fantastic. The technicians were always on time and able to explain everything and answer any questions we had, they were very approachable and personable. The technicians were also very courteous of our home and kept a very clean working environment the whole time. Hauled away all the garbage, laid down protective mats on the floors and just respected our home as though it was their own. Very happy with the entire process from start to finish and will definitely be recommending A-1 Heating in the future. Thank you to Curtis, Brad, Nolan, Ted and Stjepan. Well done fellas.

Leaving this for my dad. He thought his humidifier was having issues so he called A1 to come out. They went out to my fathers and almost immediately said that BOTH of his furnaces had cracked heat exchanges and that both needed to be replaced. They then sent out their "estimates specialist" who came back to my Dad with a $12000 bill. After my dad told my brother and I about it, we got him to get a second opinion. He hired a second company to go out and they found NOTHING. Just to be sure, they recommended that we explain everything to ATCO and ask them to go out and check. THERE ARE NO CRACKS OR LEAKS. Total scam to bilk a senior citizen out of money. BUYER BEWARE!!!! Update: My father phoned Curtis as per their response and Curtis apologized on behalf of the technicians that came out. My father feels that Curtis was sincere and will deal with the situation accordingly. I would certainly suggest that any consumer do their research.

Karl provided the quote and was very informative; he educated me on the air conditioning units available so that I could do proper apples to apples comparison with other quotes I was receiving. Lengthy review. I waited a full year before I posted a review. Let's start from the beginning, heard from word of mouth about this company. Had them come in and directed them on the location I'd prefer to have my air conditioning unit placed. They quoted me 4 different units at varying prices. Pros and cons for each. I chose their favourite, moderately priced for a single family detached home. One full summer and it ran smoothly and quietly(wasn't noticeable when outside) we ran the air conditioning unit and our house was at 16°c for the summer. No real noticeable impact on our energy bills. They guys installing were punctual and great in and around the house. Winterizing and spring start up were a breeze and they were willing to answer any questions I had when performing such duties. I fully recommend this company for any heating and air conditioning needs. The new filter system they recommended has also made a significant impact on the dust around the house. Tim was pleasant but not particularly diligent. We were charged over $400 for less than an hour’s work, which included unclogging three sinks and cleaning a kitchen faucet—or sort of, since it still doesn’t work. Finally, the problem with our upstairs bathroom wasn’t really investigated. We’ll never use these clowns again. Follow up: Curtis Crouse, the owner, responded hours after I posted the review. Full refund. Courtesy inspection. No ifs, ands, or buts. Our guy was just having on off day, and A-1's stellar reputation is intact from my perspective. Additional comment: We needed our aging furnace repaired, so we called A1. They found an appropriate replacement part, and Ricardo, the technician, did a fabulous job in far less time than estimated. Our heat is back up and running for a reasonable cost. Couldn’t be happier. Another terrific experience. Emily did a fabulous job replacing our defective sump pump. She’s a rock star and we’ll ask for her by name next time we need work done. November 2021 The ever amazing Ricardo to the rescue yet again. Enough said! ????????????

I tried to do my mother-in-law favor by installing a new Wi-Fi thermostat on her furnace that she received for Christmas. Next day furnace stopped working, ATCO gas was called and said that furnace board was fried and needed to be replaced. I called A-1 heating and they had one of their technicians over within 30 minutes on December 26th. It turns out that it was just a loose connection in the furnace and there is no need to replace the circuit board. They probably saved me $800 by finding the problem quickly. With me being in the real estate business I work with lot of heating and furnace companies and have had the BEST experience with this one! Call them first, you won't be disappointed. Everyone from A-1 Heating was amazing, right from my first panicked call at 6:30 in the morning when my furnace wouldn't start. I had a fantastic service technician come out and diagnose the issue and start our furnace again, followed by a quote for a new furnace and AC in the same day. Two days later Roberto came to install our furnace and was courteous and professional. We have since had our AC installed to be hooked up in the spring when it's warm! This company has been outstanding and I can't recommend them enough! They also message you with a picture and bio of the employee about to show up your house. It was a nice touch to know who to expect when you open the door.

I have been using A1 heating for almost 20 years , my first experience was as a new home owner and the technician showed up on an emergency call and fixed the issue,but also taught me how to do my own preventative maintenance so I would not have a repeat of the same problem. They recently installed a new furnace in my home and all of the technicians , were polite, and left the house in the same condition that they found it. This last week my air conditioning coil needed replaced, A1 , checked with the manufacturer and were able to have it replaced on warranty. Joel Pylat, spent a number of hours in my home and was very conscientious about making all the necessary adjustments to ensure my AC was working at peak performance. I would recommend A1 heating for any of your heating or cooling needs, be it installation of new equipment or repairs to old. They are fairly priced and more importantly stand behind the work they do. A pleasure to deal with them !

October 2020. Recently I had to use A-1 Heating and Cooling for a very problematic noisy inducer fan. I was very happy with the outcome of this service! The tech Jason Harris was supper friendly beside being a very smart technicians who finally solved my problem with the inducer fan (which had been replaced many times in the last five years).Previously, I had another company (which shall remain nameless) and all it did was replaced the inducer fan and never trying to solve the problem. Jason was able to solved this with some testing after replacing the inducer fan. And he gave me some great advises too! Thank you Jason and A1-Heating and Cooling for taking such great care of your grateful customer! My worries (furnace problems in cold winter)are gone now knowing that Jason and A1-Heating and Cooling will be there for me!!!! Super highly recommended!

Late 2017 (a/c install) - The entire process, from quoting to planning to installation, went off without a hitch. Late 2018 - had an issue with a faulty valve near my humidifier, which caused considerable water to spray across basement. A-1 arrived 30 minutes after the service call was placed. Response: I spoke to you and explained the situation and asked for a technician but your response was gladly but you will pay for it. Please don’t make things worse and accuse me of lying. So bad for an owner to do that! I have proof of it all anyway. The A1 was used to check issues in the house we were buying (by the seller). The in-floor heating, sump pump and furnaces were checked and everything got cleared as working just fine. Unfortunately right after we moved in we found out none of it is in working condition. We had to hire another company that we had to pay to repair the issues. We are in such a disbelief that a professional company would do such an inspection and miss all the issues. I wish I could describe it all in detail but it’s impossible in here. This is a very expensive repair that we were not prepared for. When the owner was contacted he not only was rude on the phone but later on in an email admitted they were not very familiar with the specific sump pump situation and in floor heating Problem was Missed by the technician. When I asked for him to send somebody to fix it as it was their mistake he said he will and we have to pay for that. We have to now go through court system to get reimbursed for the repairs. Can’t believe how irresponsible, unprofessional and unethical a business can be! Stay away if you don’t want to have issues. We are placing an complaint with BBB next. V.T.

The technicians, 3 in all, did an excellent job of troubleshooting, preparing and installing our new heat exchanger. The technician who did the installation did miss two important things that were identified as being required.He missed the resetting of the low level setting on the gas valve of the furnace and also missed switching it off of emergency heat mode that was identified by a red LED. This had been adjusted by another technician prior when the furnace started to act up. They were quick to respond when the furnace did not fire after they left, however they did argue on the phone that the Red light on the furnace meant it was running normal, when the owners manual clearly states it means emergency mode setting. The technician understood the mechanics of the furnace really well but did not really understand the electronic settings and indicator lights. I found it quite frustrating to have to convince the "Qualified" technician that he left the furnace on emergency mode which is quite hard on the furnace. If I hadn't been knowledgeable about the operating characteristics of our furnace it probably would have stayed on emergency mode until it failed the very expensive combustion chamber motor. In emergency mode this motor runs at an extremely high speed to overcome the issues with the heat exchanger. Also the bill was rather high considering this was a warranty replacement of the heat exchanger.. All is well that ends well. I never heard back from A-1 as they stated they would in their reply. I will wait patiently.

Quentin was efficient and friendly while at my site accomplishing the repairs needed. I am concerned of the quality of the 2012 installed Bryant 987ma heating system. The purge motor failed in 2019 and now the blower motor in 2021, thankfully before our warranty is finished. I have a feeling that we will not even get 20 years out of this system which is not very impressive.

Need a new furnace and duct work, A1 was referred to us. The estimator was very professional seemed to think they could be very competitive with other companies we have received quotes from. A few hours later I received a call telling me the quote came in really high ! Double of most of the other quotes we had in hand. Almost 13K ! I asked why so high I was told “” the workers are slow, it would take their workers 3 to 4 days to do the duct work for our tiny 611 sq ft home. Every other competitor that gave us an estimate said it’s a small house with an open basement. 1 day to complete the job. A1 has fought other reviews I have left stating I am not a paying customer! Why would I become a paying customer ? I really want to pay double the fair market value for a furnace install ? If A1 would of provided a reasonable competitive estimate ! We would be paying customers ! Seriously A1 this review is based on your outrageous estimate ! And Curtis’s attempt to justify it ! Sorry Curtis there are companies that specialize in furnace repairs and replacements just like A1, that are 1/2 the price of A1.

A-1 has done all my furnace maintenance as well as installed my central air unit and I've never had an issue with either. EDIT: the company contacted me and apologized for not being able to provide the service and refunded the total I had paid. I called several companies looking for someone to repair my heat pump. Many places said no as they did not handle that kind of equipment but A1 told me they knew how to do and would send someone. One of their techs came and had a hard time to understand my furnace. He did not seem to know basic things like where the filter was. He even spoke with my property manager to ask if there was a pump in the common machine room as he was sure (without looking at it) that was the issue. After 3 hours and a $150 “diagnostic” bill he left assuring that the issue was the pump my property manager had already confirmed as non existent, because he was not able to find the issue! “I can’t find the pump but I’m sure the pump is the issue” What kind of diagnosis is that? I felt robbed by this company. I don’t blame their tech but the people who sent him instead of being honest and tell clients “we don’t know how to do that”

Long story short, couple visits and trouble shooting. Furnace didnt always show the error codes, appreciate the quick response during the deep freeze in Feb however at the end of the day a new thermostatt and some new parts. it ends up being the gas regulator on the exterior or the gas control valve. Atco changed out the regulator as a bandaid solution. l will get the gas control valve changed next not sure if I will use the same company

I recently had the team from A-1 install a new central AC unit in my home in St. Albert. I considered several other companies before settling on A-1 and they made the decision very easy for me. None of the other companies even came close. The team from A-1 is second to none. The owner came to my home to do the initial assessment and was very professional but also very personable. He answered all of my questions and never made me feel like he had somewhere else to be. He is very knowledgable and gave me honest answers from a homeowners perspective, not a business perspective, which I very much appreciated. I made an appointment to have the install done and again I was not disappointed. The team (installer, electrician, apprentice, etc.) was very professional and very aware of keeping the disruption to my home to a minimum. The installer was a guy who has obviously been doing this a long time and he was very diligent and an obvious perfectionist, which you definitely want for a job like this. He also took the time to teach his apprentice which I also appreciated having been one myself many years ago. At one point he noticed something that wasn't up to his standards and while he was fixing it the apprentice said he was shocked the installer even noticed this small flaw in the unit they were installing. After he fixed it (which meant he had to take it apart and do several steps all over again) he told the apprentice that he always does things the way they're supposed to be done and then checks and rechecks to make sure it's perfect. He said he goes by the "checklist" but said his standards are to go one step further. If I could give them 25 stars I would. This was money well spent for us and A-1 will be our go-to for all our heating and cooling needs for the life of our home.

Absolutely amazing experience with A-1. Our AC broke down back in June. The company was fully booked for weeks, but the owner Chris volunteered to come out on an evening to see what’s wrong. He didn’t even charge after hour fees. Jason was very professional and wonderful, both times he came over to repair the AC. He was COVID-conscious, was careful with proper social distancing, and allowed me to work at home with minimal interruptions during the repair. We weren’t too lucky with the parts being back ordered, but the company really helped us through the whole process. And our AC works now!!

I called the company and got my old A/C removed because it was so old. I needed to do some grading as the dirt had sank on that side of my house. I asked the guy for a quote and said I would be in touch as soon as the was done. Covid came and no air con was installed. I called again this spring. A guy named Brad came. I said yes I wanted to get a new ac installed and he booked me an appointment. Between 8-10 on May 12. I took the time off work. I got a call the day before, not coming as an emergency came up and c the weather wasn't Good? Next appt. The 25th same time. I told my partner as I've already had air con it shouldn't take long and I would I do be at work in a few hours. The installer showed up on time, and explained it would take all day to install? Wow wished I knew? I wasn't told this by Brad? I was frustrated as the weather was also the same as it was on the 12th? The installer did an amazing job, was perfection. An electrician had to come to run new power to my panel for the ac . She came and went and the inside job was also great. When done the installer took me on a tour to explain how it all worked, where my cover was, what temperature to keep it at, what maintenance I should do. Then came time to pay. Wow the bill was $750.00 more than I expected? The installer said the owner would get a hold of me. OK. I went in and called them anyway I wanted to clear up my bill. Curtis was out of the office and I was to I d he old get a hold of me. Nope that didn't happen I got Miranda and her total was different she said she forgot to take off a total for restocking purposes. Well he total was also different then the total radio had written down. I asked her why in an email? She replied it was the right total and I got an email stating. I received no email,she suggested I check my spam, no not there either. She made me errs embarrassed, on not paying my bill quick enough. It was still a $45. Difference in price. I did pay their total as the ac was already installed, otherwise I would have called another company. I never did hear from the owner Curtis. BEWARE ON THE COST OF YOUR SYSTEM! Also it takes all ask for an install even if you have had ac before.

My 27-year-old furnace finally decided to die unfortunately on a Sunday evening with outside -5C temperatures. I called A-1 at 7 PM and they sent out a technician promptly even though it was after hours. He determined that the igniter coil and module were “toast” & spent a while on the phone trying to find replacements with no luck. I agreed to purchase a new high-efficiency furnace, so they didn’t charge me for the after-hours service call. A-1 came back the next morning at 9 AM to install it. They were done by 3 PM & I now have a new much smaller and more efficient furnace. Also a new cold air return, combustion air inlet & programmable thermostat. Good job!

We had issues installing a humidifier on my furnace and had called Furnace Solutions to come help. Jason assessed the situation but could not pull an additional wire needed from the thermostat to the furnace/humidifier. He called A-1 Heating ( their affiliated company) and arranged everything for us that was needed to get our humidifier working. Teddy from A-1 heating was there within the hour gave a quote for the job and stuck to it and we were not charged an additional show-up fee for them. I cannot say enough about either of these companies and their willingness to have the customer happy and pleased. I woke up at 5:20am with no heat. The house was 8 degrees, and -40 outside. I called A1 and left a message. Amber called me back promptly and set up a service call from between noon - 3pm. Quinton showed up early (10:20ish) and was very professional, knowledgeable and understanding. Quinton quickly diagnosed the problem and quoted me 3 different options. He explained the pros and cons of each option. Once I decided, he quickly got to work and after overcoming some “old home building issues” he completed the work promptly. Needless to say my furnace is running again and I’m not wearing 3 layers of clothing. In this day and age were customer service doesn’t seem to be the priority anymore, it was sure nice to deal with a company that provides excellent customer service. I highly recommend A1, Amber and especially Quinton although I hope I never see him again! Lol.

I called on November 5th and had an appointment setup for November 17th. Got a call the morning of my appointment informing me they are canceling my appointment because they don't have the staff to do my call. They were shocked when I didn't reschedule. They stated I need to understand people call in sick. They don't care about the customer as if an appointment would be missed then why should I wait another week for them to come. What about the next day? An apology isn't going to fix this! Your a business and not a person a simple sorry doesn't cut it. I WILL NOT or ever do any further business with this company. They clearly show you were returning customers stand.

Had a toilet installed . A1 was easy to book (online) I received updates which included a reminder email and a message when the tech was about to arrive. Everything was explained on the work that needed to be done. The tech was professional, polite and left everything very clean when he was done. Would recommend A1 Heating!
