Website does not clearly state their billing practice of charging per technician present on your property. Had a radiant garage heater leak recently – 2 technicians came to assess (generous 15-minute assessment – charged for 2 hours labour for 2 workers present). Was told that I would receive a call regarding a replacement heater – did not receive a call nor a follow-up of when they would return. Luckily, someone was home when they arrived unexpectedly days later. Job involved swapping the exact same heating unit (fixture hardware already present), cutting/re-soldering 2 pipes, shut off valves at the unit’s location – 2 workers present again. Billed 4 hours for this work when only present for 1.5 hours x 2 workers. Billed 6 hours for less than 2 hours of work between initial assessment and job completion.
I will acknowledge they did drop 2 hours of labour based on our complaint regarding our final bill and labour costs.
Recommend, clearly stating your terms of labour on your website (cost per hour - $75 per technician, 2 technicians with all jobs – if this is the case, rounding of time to the nearest hour or half hour, etc.) You coming to assess a job, in my opinion is an operational cost of doing business and should not be the customer’s responsibility to cover. Given the workspace – only one worker would be doing anything, and the job size is small – makes no sense for 2 workers to be present in the first place. Thus doubling my cost regarding labour and essentially paid for someone to stand around and watch their coworker work.
Overall, the craftsmanship was great, not please with the labour charges associated to the small job – be more transparent!
