Company is really not a service company, it will only service what they install so calling for service on other equipment is futile. Sort of makes the competitiveness of HVAC services rather non-existent.

We encourage everyone not to do business with this outfit. We trusted Peterborough Refrigeration to look after our hvac needs for more than 15 years but during winter 2019/20 we realised they are nothing but a very expensive business that gauge customers for service calls and furnace prices. Their "technicians" didn't always tell the truth about what was wrong with our heating units and did not fix them . Finally we took our business somewhere else and had our furnace replaced by a company from Durham Region for less than 1/2 the price of Peterborough Refrigeration's quote.

NO Stars really . Wasted my valuable time. Called them for a NG barbacue hookup. GORD ,Showed up to estimate. Could not give me a price but verbally said $400-500. and in four to six weeks install and would email me a proper quote ...still waiting. How do you conduct business like this. If you don't want the job why show up and drastically over charge on the job and piss good customers off. Do not recommend these people. BTW I got it done for $200. in three days

I have my furnace and air conditioner put in by Lenndx, Though they seem to be a little pricy, I am happy with the quiet sound of the air conditioner and love the idea of not having to worry about changing my filter on the furnace only once a year when they come to clean it. It is between $15.00-$45.00 extra each year to have it done this way but well worth me not having to remember to do it every Three (3) months as I normally would.

Dissapointed in being charged for "travel time". Apparently, billing starts when the technician leaves the shop? And if they have to return for a part, it also cuts into the hourly rate. Even if it is "standard practice", need to be more upfront.

I have tried to get a quote for 2months now. I had to pay a visit to get them to come which they said they would discount on order. I was promised a quote in 2-3 days. I have called at least 4 times after that to get a quote. Every time I get that they are sorry and will get back to me shortly. Still waiting for a quote. Maybe they will call me January for A/C. They must be doing very well.

Terrible experience. I called Peterborough Refrigeration when I was having hot water problems. After charging me $915 for 2 separate service calls that didn't fix the problem, they charged me $3616 to install a new hot water tank, which failed within the manufacturer's warranty period. Even though the tank was leaking, they insisted that a service call was required. They came out, took a picture of the tank and charged me $267 for the 5-minute visit. After multiple calls to follow up, I was told that another service call would be required. The technician didn't show up on the scheduled date so I called and was told that they would just send me a quote. After several more calls to follow up, I received a quote 6 days later: $4537 to install a replacement tank (which would take 3 weeks to deliver) and then they would submit a warranty claim (which would take 6 weeks to process) plus I would be charged to return the tank to the manufacturer (cost unknown) and I would have to pay a $90 warranty processing fee. I asked for some consideration and was told that my request would be discussed with the owner the following morning. At 4:15 the next day, I received a voice mail from the owner saying he was leaving the office for the weekend and to call him on Monday. At this point, I gave up and called another company, who provided a far more professional level of service.

I had an issue with my older model A/C not cooling, and the service tech was terrific at communicating, walking me through what he was doing, explaining the issue, and providing recommendations. VERY pleased and will use again in the spring when I purchase a newer model unit. Thank you!!

Had a furnace break down on coldest day of year. They came by and reset it, and told me if it went out again, it would need replacing. I get that the furnace was 18 years old, but how would you know that if you do ZERO troubleshooting. Furnace went out 12 hours later. Waited 2 days as earliest they could do it was Monday. Service guys showed up as scheduled, and did a good job replacing. I am disappointed in poor communication on quote, as cost ended up higher, then rebate is a Visa card, which means more spending. I wanted a cheque to put against cost of furnace replacement. Poor communication!!!! Too many surprises.

Peterborough Refrigeration installed a multi unit ductless heat pump for my wife and I in February of 2018. Our home was previously heated by baseboard heaters and a pellet stove. The company was great from the initial honest quote, all the way until the first annual service this week. The units have worked great, and kept the house nice and warm all winter, and cool in the summer. After initial install we did have some minor programming issues with the units (manufacturer issue, not the install) and Peterborough Refrigeration arrived the same day of our call to troubleshoot. We had received several quotes prior to choosing Peterborough Refrigeration. They were the most honest, clear, concise and professional. Would highly recommend their services for anyone in need or heating or air conditioning.

Our AC quit on Saturday and we called Sunday morning to see if we could get it repaired as a heat wave is coming. Wes (technician) responded promptly and was over to our place within an hour. + came out the same day - first technician charged me $120 for thinking there was a leak in my ac but he forgot the tool to check where it is. Next day another tech came out for 5 min and brought the leak tester and tried to charge me another $100. Why am I paying because your technicians don’t have the proper tools to do the job in the first place? After a fight with office lady, they took the second charge off. And of course never sent me a quote for actually repairing.

Started off great with very fast response and visit. I can't comment on their work quality and pricing because the owner showed up to consult with me on a reno and acted as though I was a bother ! Didn't like the fact that I was asking his opinion on which option was best for heating my garage! Needless to say he didn't bother to send me a quote on a simple reno job requirement. I noticed several other reviewers had the EXACT issue of no quotes! Very unprofessional to make an appointment and not follow through with a quote. I don't like people wasting my valuable time so caveat emptor. Don't waste your time and move on to the next company is my advice.

I’m not in the habit of giving bad reviews but when you make three call and wait a month to get a quote to install central air and you do not get it, it warrants a poor review. If they can’t get back to you with a quote what are the chances they are ever going to get the job done in a timely manner. I would not recommend this company.

I usually am the type to write raving reviews, unfortunately I cannot. Upon installation in 2018, they left a hole in the main trunk & a large mess. We called for AC maintenance/repair last month & got quoted the for the hour and no one informed us of travel time, which was disappointing and shady as they had multiple times to communicate that with us. The AC didn't present the issue when the tech came, which happens, but he shrugged it off and didn't give us any suggestions. My husband followed up with an email explaining the situation in full with zero response. It's unfortunate that this company does not stand by their products and have any sort of proper business etiquette or integrity.

Poor work quality. Missed some of the obvious reasons for the problems. He was unable to fix the problem, swearing when he couldn't get the parts back together properly. Lacked knowledge of different furnaces and a/c to be able to do any repair. Also, it was Very annoying that he had no boot covers- walking around outside the house then tromping around our house with his dirty boots (yes we asked him to remove them but he wouldn't)!

This is one of those situations where it's not a good idea to do business with a company affiliated with Costco. Sure we got a some gift cards, etc. for buying an A/C unit, but the after sales experience has been dreadful and I really don't recommend this company. Buyer beware!
