I would not recommend Buck Bay contracting at all. Initially everything were smooth. Barry came to my place to estimate the work. The estimate with reasonable price were texted in a brief message to y cell with a promise to send more details in email. Which never came to me 2 weeks later Barry came and started the work with 2 apprentices. Unlike other contractors I had worked before this team were obviously short on tools. Work progress were slower than others from my previous experience. Than turned out that estimated price did not include all the work we discussed. After day and half of work Barry requested me to pay a 50% deposit of the estimated price. The deposit condition came out of the blue and had never been brought up as a part of estimate. I declined the deposit and suggested frequent payments for completed work instead. Barry decided to abandon the work. That is an example of Barry’s business style. He does not stick to what he promised and not willing to discuss the differences / issues Here is an example of the professional side Barry’s work included framing and installing a new window into a load bearing wall. I had his work inspected. The framing were not done in accordance with code. Jack (trim) studs were missing leaving the window span without the required support. The header size were less then it required for the span. The window framing would likely bend down under the load of snow on the roof. I had to get another contractor to fix the framing and re-install the window.
