It's been a few years since I've dealt with this company. They'll probably remember me. Failure to explain how a heat pump doesn't work in the dead of winter seems like a short-sighted business move. We had water damage caused by an installation mistake. there was a fair amount of damage and we were 6 weeks getting things back to normal. During this time Wilson's ended up actually replacing the entire unit and installation lines . there were a number of visits by their technical staff and we were worried that their insurance would not accept liability for our loss . In the end we Have units that work properly and our home has been repaired to our satisfaction, plus Wilson's accepted liability for the incident

I had the worst experience by using these guys , simply Bad customer service. (2017)My heat pump broke down a week before Christmas, I called them and they sent their technician ( I payed 150 + tax) who suggested that that the switch valve was broken ( no fixing was done). My heat pump was switched to AUX / Emergency heat $$$. They ordered the part from Toronto. Four or five days after the new year I called to ask if the valve have arrived, which to my surprise has already arrived few days before my call and I wasn’t notified. I was given an appointment to install the part a week later, I wasn’t happy , and told them that I can’t keep paying extra $$$ for heat. They called my the next day with a sooner appointment. Their technician came to install the part which I waited 2 weeks for. But there was bad news , they order the wrong switch !! The technician called his office to order the right one. A week later the part came in. The switch was installed after little over 3 hours of work. At this point the unit start working fine. The next day the unit started making strange sounds and it froze down with ice. I called them once again and they sent their technician who suggested that the units control board was damaged. The unit had to be shut down and I was switched to electricity heat $$$ once again. A week later the control board arrived and they sent someone to install it. After installing the CB, the technician did some checks and found out that problem wasn’t from the control board, but it rather was from the switch valve that was installed in opposite way! 4 hours of work , the valve was installed correctly this time, and the CB was removed. It took them a month and a half to fix the Unit, I was charged over one thousand dollars , I never got a discount for their many mistakes or even and apology.

I myself was out of the country, the repair depended on a part that took a long time to be delivered, and the house changed hands before the repair was completed. None of this ended up being an issue, and communication was excellent from start to finish.

I called on seven companies during my hunt for my new heating (and cooling!!) system. I get the feeling there are a lot of fly-by-night companies out there trying to cash in on the heat pump craze. Halifax Heating is NOT one of them. They have been around for over 30 years. And they installed a heat pump for my neighbour ten years ago and he is happy with them. Halifax Heating was not the cheapest nor the most expensive but I felt they were the best company to do the work for me. I went from an oil- fired forced air furnace to a Lennox Signature heat pump and air handler with electricity as my back up heat source. The Good Price - When I compared apples to apples among reputable vendors their price was the least expensive. The awesome crew that worked on installing my Heat pump and Air Handler. - Darren did the initial site visit and measured up for the new duct work. His measurements were spot on. - Dion and Raymond were the gents who ripped out my old furnace and hot water tank and lugged them up a steep flight of steps, installed the air handler and duct work and fished my new thermostat wire through a very tricky spot to the new area. They cleaned up afterwards and my utility room never looked cleaner. Awesome fellows – I feel they went above and beyond what I expected. - Jeffrey hooked up the heat pump and did some other magical work to get the system up and running and reviewed the new thermostat with us. He was polite and mindful of my 50 year old house and he did an excellent job not tearing it apart too much. The crew that removed my outside oil tank. - Let’s face it, draining oil out of a half filled 900 litre tank and then lugging the tank to a truck is not an easy job. But these guys were friendly, fast and efficient. Patient office staff - Alyssa patiently answered my questions about the install process, told me what to expect over the two day installation and put out a fire installation day. The Bad The Halifax Heating quote system. I am fully computer literate but I struggled with their new quote system. It is new and they are working the bugs out. I think once fully operational it is going to be amazing. The ability to get options with pricing and then build the system you want within your budget will be fantastic. But the version I used was not accurate, difficult to use and did not work as per the instructions on the web page. And the first quote I received would not open and I had to e-mail back to get one that would. I knew I wanted to work with Halifax Heating but it was a struggle to get the correct pricing. No follow up once installed, What can I say. After spending what I spent, I expected a call two or three days later to see how it was working and to answer any questions. (I have since learned they do follow ups about 45 days after the install and my 45 days are not here yet). My problem is that in that length of time you can get a high bill if you are not managing the system properly. Bottom line is I am extremely happy I chose Halifax Heating to do the work. I have only taken advantage of the cooling to date, but so far, I could not be happier.

Answered all of my questions so we could make the informed decision on doing an add-on versus a full replacement. James was good to deal with and wasn't pushy. He was prompt and quick to reply to emails and phone calls. The installation went okay. I voiced some concerns and was listened to and everything was rectified quickly. I was pleased with the work. The service representatives (diagnostic and repair) were fine. I did however, experience frustration with the scheduling. I waited 5 weeks for the estimate to be provided and received it only after chasing them. Also waited for 2 weeks to have the repair scheduled, again after chasing them. I will not deal with this company again.

From initial estimates to job completion Halifax Heating was professional and friendly all the way. To commence work on the installation of the heat pump the team, led by Jeffrey Berends, arrived on time, introduced the team and briefed us on how the work would proceed. As other crew arrived they also introduced themselves. The installers were careful to protect floors and ;limit openings to fish various lines through the ceiling. As worked progressed we were regularly update by Jeff. The work was scheduled for two days but a lightning storm resulted in a general power failure on the afternoon of the first day. In order t finish on the second day Jeff stayed late to complete the installation and, despite being well into the early evening, stayed to give us a thorough briefing on the operation and controls for the heat pump.

Called July 31/19 around 12 noon. The tech arrived around 1:45 and was gone by 2:10. He explained and showed me what had happened re the heat pump. It made sense to me to see what had been the problem. Both reception and tech were courteous, informative and had the problem taken care of the same day I called. MUCH APPRECIATED!

After a whole month of frustration, excuses, lack of pertinent information from the front office, and additional expenses for alternate heating possibilities because of the malfunction of my heat pump, I wrote a letter to Mark Gillis, Manager. He immediately got in touch with me, and eventually provided a new outside unit. He was personable, efficient, and very customer oriented. I would give him 4.5 stars, while the front office gets barely a 1star.

The installation team was great but I found the admin side lacking. I was not given proper instructions in emailing my forms to nsp. When mentioned it was said she would look after it. When I called nsp 3 days later they had not received it. I resubmitted myself. Also the installation co ordination forgot that I had emailed her an agreement on the dates for installation.

My experience with Halifax Heating was FANTASTIC. I had a forced air furnace heating system before I decided to go with a heat pump . Choosing a heat pump system was the BEST decision I ever made . Jack Knox (sales manager) at Halifax Heating came to my home to investigate my existing forced air heating system , he appear to be very knowledgeable about both system and his professionalism and experience really made me decided to go with a heat pump system . I must say that I had some concerns about the efficiency of the system but after only a few months I realized how comfortable and pleasant it was to be in my house. Jack was right on about the efficacity and efficiency of the system and on the saving I would make on electricity and oil heat. His employees who installed my system were very professional in the work and did a FANTASTIC job on installation. I have a central system where the existing air ducts from my previous forced air furnace which provide constant heat in each room of the house. It's been two years that I have the heat pump and the service I get from Halifax Heating is EXCELLENT. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. My heating bill with oil and electricity dropped by $1200.00 on my first year .I could hardly believe this was real.This heat pump is very efficient and I really enjoy the cooling air in the summer and great heat in the winter months. Now I really enjoy the comfort of my home. I wish I would have made that decision the day I purchased my house. I would certainly recommend Halifax Heating to anyone for their professionalism and service .
