We rented from FH for roughly two months before having to move across canada. We understood the troubles that arose by trying to get out of the lease.
When we did our initial walk through there was a crack in the basement sink - with us living in the house only 1.5 months we did not use the basement bathroom. When we did our "out" inspection they wrote down the damaged sink and said they would be charging us for this, which they did. We trusted them and did not take pictures from the start and we understood that was our bad by putting good faith in their business, we accepted the deduction on our damage deposit and moved on.
We had our new tenants in for December 16, 2019. They signed the new lease and we did everything FH wanted - they declined multiple tenants and finally settled on one. Again no complaint from us.
Come January 1, 2020 FH withdraws $1595 from my bank account. They did not prompt me, they did not follow up with me - they accepted two payments on our Lower Sackville place, one from us and one from the current tenants.
When I emailed them saying it caused my account to go into the negative, and caused other bills to bounce they assured it was a mistake. They passed on my email and assured me this would not happen again, apologized and I thought that was it.
Feb 3, 2020 - Another withdraw for $1595 comes out of my account, they email me afterwards and send me an etransfer but by the time they contact me it again caused my other payments to bounce.
I am not getting a straight answer from them, no confirmation that I am off the list. I wonder if this is common practice - so be aware if you leave FH to monitor your funds the following month. I guess for the month of March I should just expect the withdrawal and be entertained by the run-around and poor management communication I will hear from them!
