Last fall we embarked on a renovation project to redo our bathrooms, basement and flooring to make room for our second child. After speaking to several contractors, we chose Alair North Van and we're very happy with our decision! With a baby on the way, we had a strict timeline for the project and amazingly we finished on time. We also really liked Alair’s budgeting process which includes online access to your budget status and approval of any changes from the original plan. This really helped us sleep at night as we knew there would not be any big surprise bills at the end of the project. Chris. Rich and our Project Manager Peter do lots of planning and consultation ahead of the start of the project which I really think helps ensure success. Additionally, they were responsive and great at communicating which is so important to us. We love our reno and it’s going to great use considering how much time we’ve spent at home this year! And, even though the project is over, the Alair team has been regularly checking in, and have even helped us coordinate a bit of work that was out of scope from our original project. Highly recommended!

They helped with our design and then served as our contractors who supervised the entire reconstruction. We retained Chris Black to renovate the common hallways and lobby of our 49-unit strata complex with new lighting, carpet and tile, ceiling finishes etc. Chris' project bid was competitive and, unlike the other bids we received, provided details of materials, labour and contractor costs rather than a mysterious total cost with no explanation. The open communication and clear information on costs continued throughout the project, and Chris worked patiently with strata council every step of the way, coming up with creative solutions to some design challenges we encountered. The quality of workmanship of Chris and every one of his sub-contractors was excellent, and in addition, Chris himself was honest, professional and friendly throughout the project. He even noticed and took care of a few minor repair issues that were not part of the renovation project! Highly recommended.
