Although we are happy with many aspects of our house, we are forced to give Noort one star. We became aware of water infiltration problems in our master suite shower after a few years ( a musty smell that wouldn't go away no matter what we did) but when the drywall near the shower started bubbling we realized there was a larger problem. The owner of Noort Homes did come out and make various suggestions to deal with this (all at our expense) but after a couple of years of this we realized the problem wasn't something we could fix, as it was getting worse. We decided the shower needed to come out. We hired another company to do this and the damage was extensive. An incorrect tile had been selected for the shower (unsealed and unglazed, it acted as a wick) and the drywall wasn't the correct type. Noort neither confirmed nor denied this, but refused to help. At six years after construction, we know this might be technically outside the warranty period, but this was their mistake, and a very costly one to fix, requiring a total gut of the bathroom, structural work, mold removal etc. Noort made a small offer towards a portion of the costs, which was insignificant and we rejected it.
Our fence is also falling down in areas now (at 10 years after construction), we have noticed other deficiencies, and it is clear that what I have heard from friends in the real estate area is true: Noort was once known for quality construction, but that reputation is no longer deserved. Profit has become their king, not quality.
