In September this year, we started to renovate our bathroom. We purchased a granite counter top that had a specific cedar color in it's makeup. We wanted to match our cabinetry to that color. After much searching, we found a cabinet and wood framed mirror that met our needs at a large outlet in Saint John. The problem however, the set with the right color did not have a large enough wall unit (cabinet) to meet our desired need. There were two sets in stock. One with the proper color on the mirror but not a large enough cabinet and another with the proper size cabinet but not the correct shade of color.
We purchased the wood framed mirror of the color we wanted and hoped we could get Classic Woodworking to make a cabinet to match.
Working with the folks at Classic, they designed a cabinet to meet our needs as well as a couple of doors that I wanted to replace on the existing vanity. I was able to find locally a stain that appeared to be exactly the color to match the new wood framed mirror I had purchased. They built the cabinet and doors and when I went to pick them up, the color of the stain matched the mirror, however due to the type of wood used and the difference in the automated manufacturing process to apply the stain on the purchased mirror and Classics process, they did not appear the same. We liked the finished product, but we wanted a match. I decided that perhaps the best resolution would be to make a new mirror frame so that it would match the new cabinet and doors. I got the completed mirror back this week and it all looks perfect.
I dealt with Ed Morrow and Katelyn who were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The price for the quality cabinet work was extremely compatible with the cost of the similar lesser quality cabinet work I would have ended up with if I had been able to buy the pre-manufactured cabinet and then I still would have had to have door made for the vanity.
And as a bonus, due to the color difference between the pre-manufactured mirror and the Classic cabinet, they gave me an unbelievably excellent price on the manufacture of the new mirror.
If anyone is considering purchasing pre-manufactured cabinets, I would highly recommend that they check with Classic Woodworking in St. Stephen first. I have always been a wood person who prefers and enjoys quality wood products. I have over the years seen many of these pre-manufactured cabinet work and with the exception of perhaps the fronts, they are usually substandard in material. If you want quality cabinet, I recommend Classic Woodworking.
Thanks Katelyn and Ed.
