My experience with Norms left me feeling quite dissatisfied. Some minor plumbing under the sink was dealt with competently, but glue was spilled on a carpet. The technician offered took $15 off my bill to pay for the carpet. The other job involved moving a washer and dryer, and the technician called another technician to come and help, with increased costs to me. They did the work behind the appliances by making a hole in the bathroom wall, which I agreed to. However, in the course of the work they detatched the dryer hose and the took off the washer/dryer closet door, and neither of these was replaced. General clean up wasn't done either, as a pile of drywall and dust was left in the bathroom. I had to get someone else in to help me deal with the door and the hose.

Forgive me for letting you know the grief your service has caused me. First, I do not know why your colleague removed the old flapper device, but it has been hell for me to finally get the replacement to work and not leak. Similarly, your colleague failed to install the Fluidmaster valve as directed, so it leaked and it failed. Thus, I had to remove it, and while at it - thanks to the folks at Fluidmaster - remove the small device from the bottom of the unit so that the fill rate would be closer to what we had prior to the 'repairs?'. Today, it is all working great, no leaks, no noise and it just cost me another $50 to $75 to get to this place, on top of the nearly $200 you charge me for inferior work. You had no interest in checking on the situation I complained about and left me to solve the issues. Thus, I will ensure that when asked, or when possible in ordinary conversation, make sure that people know your service is questionable at best, perhaps exploitive of seniors like me and even when contacted, will most likely explain that the concerns or needs are not valid; and why not, as of course, I had already paid your bill. I note your hourly rate increased in just a month's time, or is that another extraordinary cost levied on seniors.

We had Norm’s in to do an annual service on our furnace, heat pump and natural gas fireplace. We also had a plumber in from Norms to check our toilets as we just bought a new house and didn’t know when the last time the wax seals were replaced or a service on the HVAC system was done. Turns out we have a different type of one piece toilet with a guard over the seals, he was super honest and informed us the seals didn’t need to be replaced. Both gentlemen from Norms were great, super friendly, helpful and very thorough. Will be using Norms again next year for our annual service!

I am still waiting for a call-back from ‘Dave’ who told us it would take two days for him to review what we consider to be excessive charges to install two sets of taps. A bill of more than $450 is excessive for a task that should not have taken 2.25 hours for the first taps, and 1.5 hour for the second. Unresolved, and yet they have resent the bill without contacting us, as they said they would.

Rod came to our house to diagnose our furnace for a reason it was turning off without heating. He initially said nothing was wrong with it, and walked around our house until it turned off. He then fiddled around with the wires and ended up just saying maybe it could be the board and reccomended an update to the board when we had initially diagnosed that issue ourselves. Rod constantly mentioned money and how he had a truck fee and that we were paying him by the hour and didn't really have any interest to fix the issue. Even after we paid him he hurried his way out as soon his hour was done. My dad came home and also found out that he had reconnected the wires incorrectly when he left. Overall it just felt like a waste of time and money and could not reccomend this service to anyone. So just please research before you look for services like this.

Prompt, professional, respectful With a plugged-up sink that I couldn’t solve myself, I called Norm’s Mobile Service. Jamie came over right away. He was fast and capable and explained everything he was doing. The problem was more serious than either of us anticipated but, again, he explained what was happening and asked for permission to proceed further at every step. He even asked a co-worker for a consult when it looked like it was getting very involved. A hole needed to be dug outside the house and they gave me the option of starting the digging myself, always mindful of my cost. At no point did anyone try to sell me something I didn’t need. I was very impressed by how efficiently this job was done and by the way I was treated by these gentlemen. I would recommend this company to my family and friends.

Customer service was a joke very unprofessional. Dave made a scheduling error that left me waiting around at a site for 2 hours. When I called, he tells me it was my misunderstanding. Then proceeds to try to give me gears about it. When I confronted him with it he gets all choked up and he replies'' I dont f***ing need this, find another plumber" which I did. This is a company I would not trust in the future. I needed some work done on a large reno and had Norm's come by to look at it. Dave came by and took a look at the job...(Dave is the owner). I asked for an estimate, but Dave seemed reluctant to give one, but did say the trades person might have a better idea....when the actual person doing the work showed up, he said about 40 hrs, that was in the same ballpark as a couple others. When the bill arrived, 72 hrs was listed. How the ^#<>$@ does a trades man miss their estimate by 80%. I did call Dave to ask him why the HUGE difference.... he said estimates are just that, that was what had been submitted by the tradesman. I would suggest any estimates you get be in writing. Since I didn't, lesson learnt, I just don't want someone else to have poor business practices jump up and bite you.

We love our new Rennai Gas Wall Furnace! Definitely recommend asking Norms about changing your heating from baseboard heaters. We couldn't be happier with the switch. This company charges the big bucks ($102/hr), but they don't put on their big boy pants when they make a mistake. They did the plumbing on our bathroom reno this summer. I had ordered the finishings myself (which is my right, I ordered standard stuff mostly from Sherret's), they were hired to do the 'behind the walls plumbing and install. Still, it was a job they made plenty money on: the total plumbing bill was around $6000 which was, by far, the biggest expense in trades. Among other things, they installed the toilets, but obviously not good, because the renters in our suite downstairs notified us a few days later that water was coming down the walls and there were cracks in the ceiling. Yuk, can you imagine having toilet water coming down your kitchen walls?? Anyway, Norm's guy said one toilet had leaked and blamed it on the seal that, he said, came with the toilet. He showed me this thing, which then later disappeared, even though our contractor asked for it the same day. Then, our contractor found out the toilet didn't even come with a seal!! In the installation guide it clearly states that a wax seal ring had to be added. It was a big lie. I paid a lot of money for a professional to do the work right, because, hey, why else do you hire a professional? But then they made a mistake, which is bad but not disastrous as we are all human and can make mistakes...if they would have just owned up to it. But they didn't. My contractor had to take out the damaged bits and arrange for a drywaller. He did an OK job but it definitely isn't as nice as it was, and I personally had to do the painting. Did Norm's take any responsibility or pay any of the damages? Nope! And then there are a few other things that are off: the knob of my shower isn't on straight and the drain of our small sink is just not done well. Furthermore, be careful of your copper folks! This guy took out a whole bunch of copper as we have an old house and put it in his van. He even ripped out a big pipe in the suite downstairs leaving a big hole in their bathroom ceiling! Unfortunately, I only saw that later. I asked him to take the copper out of his van again so I could teach my kids a bit about scrapping. Turns out he had over $150 worth of copper! If I hadn't said anything... I definitely will never do business with these guys again! Word of advise to Norm's: it's OK to make mistakes. But own up to them and fix it.

Today we had our water heater replaced with a new one. We only ever use one plumbing company. Norm's Plumbing and Heating came to our place a few weeks ago and installed a new toilet for us. Not only did they walk us through the buying process helping us understand toilet ruff in sizes and helping us select the right toilet for our needs. Norm's Plumbing and Heating went above and beyond as they came on very short notice to make sure our new toilet was installed quickly and efficiently for peace of mind. Our previous toilet had been acting up and giving us a head ache. Keegan, the fellow who did the install had a look at our water heater for us as we had been having hot water issues. Even though that wasn't what he was here for. He took the time to look and discovered that our existing water heater was 15 years old. He was able to schedule a day and time for us to have a new tank installed on top of the toilet work he was doing already. Today Travis came and installed our new water heater. He was in and out in under two hours. The new tank looks great and the work is high quality. We moved to Vancouver Island ( Nanaimo ) six years ago and have never used any other plumbing company. No Need as Norm's provides the best service we could ever ask for. There service is exceptionally high combined with an amazingly caring team of people. Norm's staff was really helpful, starting with the removal of the old oil tank which wasn't up to code and finishing with the installation of a high efficiency furnace. They had to work around a few problems, such as where to run the gas line through the house and solved it without issue. They even installed an extra vent for no charge, a small extra but it's going to save me a heating headache later.

Re: Why am I smiling? I have to recommend Norms Plumbing and Heating in Nanaimo, BC. Yes I simply have to recommend them again! My electric furnace completely started to go, making horrible and awful sounds and yes it at least made it to a good 30 years! Carson explained to me that a heat pump would be my best option given my issue with sensitivities to petrochemicals. I wanted to do the best thing for my place for environmental reasons too, so a heat pump was a good choice. The new heat pump has gotten me through the winter so wonderfully and is not really all that noisy and the savings are great! I like seeing my monthly bill go down every month for a change! You know all the installers were so kind and professional. I am really glad I chose Norm's Plumbing and Heating! A good decision, I am so very happy and I highly recommend this company. Carson is amazing! He told me the nasty sounds in my office would go away, I trusted him and he was right and I am sure glad it is quiet to work again! His idea to place the heat pump on a certain wall was definitely the best choice for me! :)

While their prices were a little higher than another local company, we decided to go with Norm's because of the superior warranty they were able to offer and the fact that they had done several other similar installations in our complex. They were able to answer all questions we had about the tankless system. At the end of the day, we are very happy with the work they did installing our Rinnai tankless water heater, and can recommend them without any reservations.

Just called Norm's for a quote, as a family member had used them in the past with no issue. I gave the request (installation of kitchen sink and faucet) and received a callback from an estimator who was quite rude over the phone and when I asked for a quote he said "Oh I don't know, $400-$500". There's a big difference between $400 and $500, I have another quote from 250 Plumbing for $180.. Pretty bad and pretty rude, won't be using this company clearly just off the 1 interaction.

He finished the job and left. The tank was not leveled at all. If leveling a water heater is a problem, he should have explained why.

I am amazed and grateful to Norm's for helping me out of a very difficult situation. The week before I was having open heart surgery (end of Sept), my furnace gave up the ghost. We always use Norm's. Very good quality service from friendly, competent tradesmen. A few days ago a fitting in our sprinkler system split, causing a serious leak. I phoned a lawn sprinkler company... they said they could look at it IN A MONTH! I phoned Norm's, and Malcolm arrived within an hour. He assessed the problem, then drove off. A minute later he drove up and asked, "You want me to fix it.now?" YES! He lit into the problem: dirt flew, pipes were cut & removed, new pipes, valves & fittings were installed, our lawn was fixed.... and 2 & 1/2 hrs later we had a sprinkling system again! Malcolm didn't waste a minute; what a capable, competent young man! And that's why we always call Norm's!

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS!!!!!! Make sure you find out that they charge $100 bucks to come out, spend 5 minutes and can't even write an exact quote. When i asked them to return to give me a proper estimate, "Norm" stated that he was not "the super plumber". Therefore, the owner of the property being maintenanced chose to use the company "Super Plumber" and they were absolutely excellent. Use them instead. Too bad that a company has to make their money on trumped up so called "service calls" that do absolutely nothing. You guys lost a $2000 work order.

I recently used this company for several projects in my upstairs renovations. As it was getting close to Xmas I was very happy to get someone to do the work. The work itself was done to my satisfaction although there were some issues around the billing as the young lad had forgotten to include some of the parts in the original bill. They sent an invoice for the new amount which I never received so they phoned. I was quite surprised as I thought the bill was plenty high enough for the work done. After some back and forth with the office lady Erin (who is very nice btw) I finally heard back from the manager and he straightened things out. It is my opinion that it's easy to do all this when everything goes perfectly. The true measure of a company is how they deal with you when there is an issue. Dave the manager came through big time so I can happily recommend them for your plumbing/gas fitting needs. Not quite 5 stars but we'll give them 4 1/2.

I will not use Norm's again. Tech that arrived for a boiler quote was fine but the business arm charged me for an hour's service call for 30 mins of discussion and information gathering and a quote that was more than double the competition. I've now had to waste hours of additional time going through their phone system and emails to try and fight an incorrect charge. My understanding is the tech has come under scrutiny for the unpaid invoice which I feel is inappropriate. I won't be using them for anything further.

It ended up being a water valve for interior water supply as we had recently gone away for a week and when returning had not completely turned it all the way back on. The plumber said sometimes they leak when not turning it all the way on. Plus our water pressure was to high for interior plumbing. Fixed that too. So we had both the exterior in interior water valves replaced plus our 9 year old water tank. Gas furnace was in need of repair, not producing heat mid winter. Called Norm's at 3pm had a call back at 4pm, HVAC technician Rod was at my house at 430pm. Part was needed and Rod drove to pick it up. Job was still completed before 6pm and we had heat for the evening. Very impressed by the response time and professionalism from everyone. Norm’s installed both a wall direct vent furnace and on-demand hot water tank in my home about a year ago. I have tracked my bills to determine the savings, which have been a reduction in my hydro bill of about 70 per cent. Both the furnace and hot water tank use natural gas. My gas bills, even last winter, averaged less than $100 a month. The furnace, which is small, heats an almost 1,900 square foot house. Norm’s staff were professional, friendly, and helped greatly with the Fortis B.C. rebate program. Their prices were also competitive.

I was shocked at the price of a new hot water tank. I called the plumber to my rental unit and was not there for repair. He was on time and communicated other issues he found along the way. When I was told the price of the tank was $1250. I questioned what made it so much more expensive than anywhere else and was told they are hard to get. 2 days later I was in Home Depot and saw a plentiful amount of hot water tanks for $500 and less. I felt like I was taken advantage of as the price seemed excessively high. I can understand a 10-20% markup as I didn’t have the time to go get it myself but more than double is crazy. I’ve used your company 20 plus times and have been disappointed in the past few situations. My mistake for not asking up front and assuming it would just be a little more than getting it myself.

I have used Norm's mobile many times on my home and rental property. Dave will listen carefully to your needs, then give you solid advice based on those needs. The advice he gave me for my home was different from the advice he gave me for my rental property. The work is done well and quickly. High quality water heaters, furnaces, etc. are used. He said my basement would be toasty warm with a wall unit gas heater, warmer than my upstairs....and he was absolutely right. Sometimes you get what you pay for. If you want rock bottom prices, then anticipate that the workmanship and longevity of what you have done, will not be good quality and will break down. If you are willing to pay a fair price, you will receive top quality from Norm's Mobile Service.

We have had several plumbing issues arise lately (old house). First our toilet started leaking onto our newly drywalled renovation below it on Christmas eve. They came right out fixed the leak for less than $100. ON CHRISTMAS EVE!! Next our hot water tank went and leaked everywhere - they got our tank covered under warranty and installed it. Lastly the toilet pipe began leaking into our suite. The tenant was away so we are unsure how long it leaked for but it was a lot of water. They came this morning and found the leak, and cut and replace the pipe without ruining our recently renovated walls. They were able to cut a small hole under the baseboards. We also have a rental condo that we use Norm's for! HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend - I will never use anyone else. We also tried super plumber - they quoted us $400 to install a toilet, Norm's did it for $120 - enough said

I had Carson Rush come to my home for a $126 one hour evaluation of my water and gas. Carson was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful. I am impressed! I will be having Norm's replace my water heater and install a new outside tap within the next 2 days. Can't beat that for service!

They came in and put a few shut offs in took two hours they charged for three and charged me $800. Then worker couldn’t figure out a solution to actually fix problem so I had to wait for the owner Dave to call when it was convenient for him. The worker told me he would be available the following week seven days later. Never told a time. That Tuesday I did hear back from Dave but only to tell me he had a dentist appointment and would get back to me later after his appointment and if he couldn’t make it that day he would reschedule. That was the last I heard from him super plumber came in and did such a good job and right away. They figured out the problem without a no show boss and couldn’t be happier. I would never recommend Norms to my worst enemy they are highly over priced and don’t know how to get the job done. Oh and I was told I needed a new hot water tank but I just had a brand new one installed four months earlier. Such a joke. They don’t care about the people just about their wallets. Have not heard a good word about them.

I contacted Norms Mobile for an issue with a potential leaking tub. I contacted Norms Mobile and they were extremely attentive in getting out to my residence. Luckily, their immediate attendance was not require but i greatly appreciate their eagerness to rectify the problem. An appointment was arranged and like clockwork, an employee of Norms Mobile called in advance and arrived when stated. Matt (the employee) was a top notch representative. He was attentive, investigative and was a great example of their business. Matt attended to the required job and was even kind enough to offer advice and his experience in becoming a plumber. I’d been under the impression he’d help me repair the subfloor. He told me to get a carpenter. I did it myself. I’m not sure why there’s a “truck charge” since I supplied the plumbing material.

I received a call from my tenant stating that Norm's was there replacing the waterline for the neighbor in my side by side duplex and if I wanted to replace mine it would be a good time. Dave called me back and said it would be anywhere from $100 to $150 since they nicked my lines anyway. Next morning he calls me and said price went up to $320. I went to view my property and saw he destroyed my rock wall that cost me $500. The rock was buried in dirt, roots sticking out of the driveway and huge dips left in the gravel. He said they would fix it but they did nothing. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.

Had them out to fix my two fire places. He charged me 200 and said one was fixed and another just need a part which should be in by the end of the week. Two weeks later no word from them and the fireplace he had "fixed" still didn't work. I called them 5 times over that month before they finally came back. Charged me another 200 dollars more to put in one part and not fix that same fireplace again. He left black stains on my white carpet and put the glass cover on upside down. To top it all off I looked over the invoices and find he had charged me 10 dollars to clean the glass. This isn't a big deal but I had not asked him to do it and all he did was wipe it down with a dirty paper towel. Horrible customer service and I will not be calling these guys back to do any work at my house again! I have since called the number back and spoke with their customer service line. They informed me that the owner Dave would be in touch. After waiting several weeks I still have not received a call. Again horrible customer service. I have scheduled a different company to fix my fireplace as Norms was unable or unwilling to do so.

Awesome service. I called at 10am with a irreparable hot water tank, dreading buying a new one, Norm recommended calling the manufacturer just in case there was extended warranty. Indeed there was, but I don’t have a vehicle able to transport a 60 gallon hot water tank so Norms guy met me at Home Depot, picked up my new hot water tank, installed it , with a new drain basin to avoid the possibility of future water damage. Then removed my old tank and disposed of it. By early afternoon my water was back on and my new water tank full and heating. All for a very reasonable price! Thank you Camille Nanaimo
