We had Alair Homes Nanaimo build our retirement dream home for us, and we could not have been happier with the results. We were worried at the start of the process as we lived in Ottawa while our house was being built, but our Project Manager Matt was absolutely fantastic in keeping us up-to-date with everything. Matt or Stu called us a few times every week to tell us how things were progessing, they sent pictures of ongoing construction and they were extremely patient with our numerous questions. We would not hesitate to recommend Alair Homes Nanaimo to anyone looking for a first class home builder, they showed concern for every little detail, gave us lots of helpful ideas to improve our house, and they really showed they cared in doing the best possible job to build our dream home. All of the Alair staff were a pleasure to work with, everyone was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

They are dedicated to worker safety and have clear expectations in this regard. Work sites are always clean and organized with a generally seamless interaction between sub-trades - always a concern when multiple trades are involved in a project. Alair Homes Nanaimo is the best! They completed the reno of our original 1980's west coast home almost two years ago. We completely redid the interior - kitchen, flooring, 3 baths, two fireplaces and the laundry room. Dan and Stu were professional and great to work with. I always felt they kept our best interests in mind and were very conscientious in managing our budget and time constraints. The entire project came in on time (under six weeks!), and on budget and we could not be happier with the end result. I plan on using them again this spring to update the exterior and our garage... Alair simplify and clarify the daunting prospect of building a home. They navigate you through the maze of problems that occur and objectives to build your home. As a unit they perform incredibly well, individually Graeme Carlton is like the head on a good Guinness; rises to the top. He works tirelessly and possesses wonderful people skills. He keeps you in touch with the reality of the build and doesn't sugar coat anything. He involves you in every aspect of the build without putting any of the stress of building on you. I would recommend him and Alair to anyone and everyone if they are considering building a house in Nanaimo. Stu Hopewell and his team definitely are worth considering for any custom home build project you are thinking of. They have managed to build my dream home on time, on budget and the standard of work is very high. I am amazed at the standard and professional attitude of the local trades that are contracted by Alair. The trades all spoke highly of working with Alair and enjoy the clarity that Alair provides to the different contracts. All this during Covid, it is an amazing thing to have been a part of. My only failure was not convincing Graeme to support a decent soccer team :).
