From the plan agreement with the city, the choice of materials with the architect to the execution of the projet, it was overall a very good experience and we will plan with them again for our next project. Base on my experience with DCR? He made a contract, visit the work at the beginning, collect all the money contract after he collected all the money he never come back and neglect his worker,not guiding the worker at all. Such a lousy work. Overcharged for the quality of work. It;s not a good job at all. Not worth hiring again. It took to long just to finished that little work. Lousy work.

Highly recommend general contractor. Licensed and Bonded. Has a large network so they can deliver fast and quality work. I always search at least 2-3 quotes and DCR quotes are below competition. First, I contracted them for residential (external) demolition and cement/metal work. All work was vetted and certified by a structural engineer (included in quote). The work was done on time and on budget with excellent performance. Following that I contracted flooring work which was also delivered with top quality, on time and clean. Currently doing roofing work (will post again after completion). James (owner) is always on site supervising and communicates frequently with updates and suggestions, or to confirm client's wishes. I had a lot of experiences with the construction industry, and DCR has been the best value so far. Highly recommend.

DCR Construction undertook last year a very difficult project at our place. Our house built in 1987 was modified by the previous owner without any engineering consideration. These major modifications tremendously weakened the entire structure of the house on account that the previous owner had just simply widened all principal windows by as much as 40%. With the added weight of snow and the virtually non existence of sufficient lateral and horizontal support the house started to have cracks and was near collapsing. DCR undertook to work in very close collaboration with an engineering bureau to evaluate all possible and most economical but most importantly safe and regulatory solutions. Throughout the works DCR workers executed the project safely, cleanly and paid particular attention to quality, customer satisfaction and keeping the engineer informed throughout the phases of this complex completion. I without hesitation would recommend DCR as a true general contractor who really walked the talk in honouring all his commitments with respect to costs and schedule with respect to quality and working per regulations and finally most importantly with respect to maintaining a clean work site and working safely. If you want no unexpected bad surprises but only the good surprise that the job was well done then without hesitation use DCR. Other contractors might lure you in lower price presentations at the onset of your project but 99% of the time you’ll have no choice to pay dearly way more. With DCR what you want and say is what they do.

Unprofessional: The director of this company is a nightmare. Do not let his confidence and all these other reviews fool you. We encountered many problems with this company including choosing specific products and colours of tiles, flooring, paint, etc... What they laid out in my house is NOT what we agreed on at the beginning. They gave us the cheapest leftover products instead and still asked us to pay for what initially agreed on. When I confronted him, he lied to my face and told me that he did not know what I was talking about... He blames his workers for his own actions to make him seem like the good guy. All he wants is money and once you give him some, he disappears for months and the project does not get done. He does not value his customers and would hang up the phone on us when we told him we were not happy. It is such a shame that he took advantage of our trust.

From designing to demolition to construction, our questions were always answered. I was not certain about the patterned tiles in one of the bathrooms but it ended up looking stylish (see pic)! The team working at our place was knowledgeable and professional. We will call DCR again for our next project.

I had a very annoying problem for few years related to my gutter, leaking problems and the renewal of the whole facade of my home covered with cedar wood logs that were damaged and I could not find a proper contractor to coordinate the whole job, each one giving me hard time with incredible prices until I met James who, in a very friendly and honest way reassured me that he's going to arrange the whole thing with his team in a timely manner and at a very friendly price respectful of my budget! As such, he designed a plan of work and in less than few days I could see the coordination done with gutter people, shingles and roof repair, wood specialist, carpenter, electrician and the whole job was finished in less than 2 weeks with excellent results.

RED FLAGS. Would not recommend. I don't know why they have such high reviews, very unprofessional. Didnt even get passed the first first stage of estimating. Very fast initial response, so I was hopeful. The person assigned to us called us to delegate the work to his brother, and we agreed that I would text him the time and place and "he will be there". This was 1 week prior to the visit date. I texted them and never got a reply so I messaged the first brother back. He called but I missed his call, so I called back to which he texted "can I call you later" and never did. Basically, nobody showed up, wasted my Saturday morning and here I am writing this review.

He provided several quotes very quickly (other contractors refused to provide us with different options). The work started on time and ended on time and the quality of work was great. Extremely disappointed in my experience with DCR. I don't take writing a negative review lightly but I feel like it's important to share my experience. For anyone considering having a smaller job done by this company I would warn you against it. I had some bricks that fell off of a small wall near my kitchen door (which leads to my back yard). The initial quote I got to do the repair work was 3 times the price that I had gotten from other companies. I was still in the process of deciding what other company I would hire when I got a call from James, around a week later, saying that the price would be much lower. In fact it was decreased by 35% which is significant. I thought it was strange that there could be such a sudden decrease but I trusted the company based on the reviews that I read so I decided to go ahead. My feeling was that it would be better to spend more and have a professional company doing the work. The workman was supposed to arrive at approx 2:00 PM but ended up showing up at 5:30 when it was nearly dark. The workman was very nice and my problem was certainly not with him, but it was obvious that the company was not prioritizing my job since it was not as big as the other projects they do. My particular job was done extremely quickly. It took around 2 hours. For the price I was paying, I assumed they would be using new brick but they just turned around the old bricks that were there and that weren't damaged (that's my mistake for not having verified that new bricks would be used - I made that assumption based on the price they quoted me). When the work was done, I wasn't happy because there was a damaged brick at the bottom of my wall which left a hole, and the top left part of the wall needed to be caulked. There was also garbage left all over my back gallery and the side of my back yard. I was assured it would be taken care of the next day. James did show up the next day with someone waiting in the car for him. Again it was a big rush. He quickly went to do the "caulking" if that's what you call it. It wasn't even smoothed over. He basically came to collect the money and said he would send someone to do the cleaning when it warmed up. He also said under his breath that it wasn't really part of the job to do cleanup. I knew he wasn't going to come and of course I was right. I did the cleanup myself. I feel that if someone takes pride in their work, and values their customers equally regardless of how big the job is, post-work cleanup shouldn't even be a question. I heard a lot of stories from James about the big prestigious jobs his company does, but those types of things are not impressive to me. It's the quality of the person who does the work. I have 2 friends that need to have bigger jobs done. I was going to refer them to DCR if I was happy with the work they did so it just goes to show that a good businessman/woman should never assume that a job is too small to be worth doing properly. You never know what big jobs could grow out of the small ones. In the pictures I've posted to this review, the uneven tone of the brick work is the one done by DCR. The nicer looking one with the even tone is the other side of my wall that wasn't repaired by DCR. I've been told the bricks will dry with the warmer weather and that it will look good when that happens. Let's hope that's the case.
