Highly recommend Canadian Shield Radon. I bought my house last fall, and a 3-months radon test done the following winter came back with an average level of 248 Bq/m3. The number was underestimated since a realtime monitor I bought later shown readings consistently around 500. I found Canadian Shield on a certified service provider list on the Manitoba Lung Association website. Eric Feuer answered my quote request, and he was willing to provid a free on-site survey. Eric is very friendly and professional, he is very passionate about his job. He answered all my questions while he was checking my basement for the best location for the system. He and another tech came over later to install the system. The radon level in my basement dropped from around 500 to 106 within the first 12 hours, and to 15 in 48 hours. 5 out of 5 professional, punctual and excellent work all around. Eric and Glen took the time to weigh our options with the fan location and explain how the process works. I had began thinking this can't be so difficult i'll buy the parts myself core a hole through the slab and rim joist and vent out the radon gas myself. well good thing I didn't because our primary location for the fan ended up having "poor communication" to draw gas from the entire footprint of the basement. It wouldn't have been until farther down the road and after another 3 month test kit to find out that all my time and money was for nothing. Fortunately we had hired the pros and they were able to use their sensitive electronic equipment to test different areas of the slab and ultimately decide on the best spot. Eric then installed the fan, they brought in their pvc pipe, Glen hardwired in a new switch and in a few short hours later the job was done! And the price was very reasonable! Now 1 week later and after having sealed up a few cracks in the slab our radon levels have dropped significantly from 1400 down to as low as 80 becquerels per cubic metre. now we know our family will be safe in our home and its all the motivation I need to begin the next project. We had just recently moved into our house and used a radon tester to check our radon levels while we had fluctuating numbers throughout the house but our laundry area spiked as soon as winter hit, to unacceptable levels. We called Canadian shield radon and Eric walked me through all the important information, he was very honest, positive, and straight forward.
