Waited around all day for a technician to replace a water heater and he finally shows up, stays for about 20 seconds and takes off. Had to leave me one of those "Sorry we missed you" cards but didn't bother to call me or even knock on my unit door. I seen this guy pull in and by time my flip flops we're on he took off. Very Unprofessional.

We had no hot water. This was very unusual for us as we had seldom had any problems in this area. Called Reliance and service man arrived very soon after call. Work was completed quickly and work area left all neat and clean. We highly recommend Reliance for providing this service to home owners.

A very thorough and professionally conducted furnace and a/c inspection. I appreciated Tim's advice in many areas. December 2020. I just had Ian from Reliance here in Kingston repair my furnace, and this in mid-December so a dicey time of year for a furnace to be out of service. He did a great job, taking the time to trouble-shoot, explain what he was doing and come to the root of the problem - a malfunctioning capacitor. All within an hour. Ian is a very personable and competent technician. My opinion of reliance is boosted considerably!

We are happy with the install and the product. However, we purchased our furnace and AC and the customer service afterwards is awful. We cannot reach the Kingston office, we always end up at the 1888 #. I’m trying to buy filters for the furnace and nobody knows who we are and how to get the filters. They still don’t know we bought and paid for the furnace. They have no idea who we are. Biggest mistake was to buy from Reliance. If you rent no problem if you want to buy it.... go with another company.

The service technician Rob was excellent . Phoning in for repair was terrible. I do not appreciate any high pressure sales pitch it is annoying and not what I was calling about . The woman sounded like she had a script and needed to sign me up for some plumbing tho g and numerous other services even saying previous owner had it etc. Totally works against what the company wants. I would not use any service due to that kind of pressure. It’s unethical to the customer and to the workers. There are other ways to Introduce services in a tactful respectful way

We recently had to have reliance come over to do a service call on our furnace. We thought that it was something very serious but after they checked everything out they informed us that it was just loose connections and Tim who was excellent as a technician solved the problem in very short order. He was very pleasant and even checked into our account and found that years ago we had put insurance on the furnace so there was no cost to us we were very impressed by this . I have been with Reliance for several years and am VERY satisfied with their service. We recently had an issue with a sulphur smell. We called Reliance and a gentleman named Chris came. He not only fixed our problem, but he went above and beyond. He tested my water for iron and salt, helped me understand my plethora of machines that are cleaning my water, and helped me set them to cycle in the middle of the night rather than in the daytime. He didn't have to do any of that, he could have simply fixed my sulphur problem and left. But no, he took the time to help me out. I am very happy with Reliance. And thank you Chris!

The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the crew that installed our equipment and cleaned our ducts were helpful, friendly and professional and this was a 5 star service (shown as 1 Star) and the second star (also 5 star goes to Hayley the complaints rep I have just spoken to) - I am deducting 3 stars for the Customer Service call center and the Sales Rep. who forgot to remove the maintenance plan for the furnace and AC (this is included when you rent the equipment) I have now been on the phone for nearly 2 hours. I have been transferred to 5 different departments and cut off twice. I have had to do DPA 5 times and each time they confirmed they have the correct telephone number for me but no one - including a manager/supervisor called me back. I have worked in Customer services for 25 years and i have never come across such poor service . Needless to say as it stands at the moment I DO NOT RECOMMEND RELIANCES Customer service line

Went over what went wrong, what he did to resolve, what he did to test and suggestions for what to watch for if there is a re-occurrence before it became a significant issue. ((Low probability but you never know.) Offered a couple suggestions for improving efficiency of system. Can't give five stars because the reason for service call originated with an incomplete step from install 6 weeks ago...

Recently went through maintenance as well as humidifier installation. His team was thorough, neat, and provided informative explanations of how the system works and should be maintained. Communication before and after the fact was top notch. High recommend dealing directly with Mike Kennedy at Reliance Home Comfort for all of your services needed.

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL POST My initial rating of one star and the comments about the sales staff only. This is an update to that post with a new rating. I went into the local Reliance Home Comfort office to pay my buy out agreement which had actually never been submitted. I asked for the sales manager and that just happened to be the person who greeted me. When I told him my name was Walter Butler he asked if I went by Jim and I said yes I do. It appears he had received a call as a result of my initial review. We sat down in the conference room and went over the documents given to me be the salesman who sold me the AC/Heater and upgraded water heater. I want to make it clear to everyone that being old school I trusted what I was being told and I signed a contract based upon the information given to me and spoken to me by the salesman. A word of warning to everyone....DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING THAT HAS NOT BEEN FULLY COMPLETED AND READ COMPLETELY. To make a long story short after review of the documents I had and the current policies of Reliance Home Comfort we were able to agree upon a buyout amount that recovered my rebate amount from Union Gas and a fair buyout agreement that never existed thanks to the salesman who sold us the package. I was pleased to learn that that salesman is no longer employed at Reliance Home Comfort. One more recommendation if you have conflicts between what you thought you were getting and what you got....go to your local office and avoid email and phone calls. If you go to the office take all of your documentation with you. It is much easier to show somebody what took place than to tell them. I am completely satisfied with the resolution of my issues and only wish it had not come to that. That said this was one salesman who created a lot of grief and aggravation not only for me and probably other customer but for Reliance Home Comfort themselves. I hope to see a return to the old Reliance that I have become accustomed to. So for now I will increase my rating from 1 star to 3 and will update as necessary on my future experience. Walter J Butler This rating is for the sales team and tactics used that cost me over $3000. I'm an old school person where I believe a discussion and a handshake meant something. I take responsibility for not reading the entire contract before signing. Still there are things they knowingly did that kept me from receiving my rebate from Union Gas not to mention defrauding Union Gas for the home inspection that Union Gas paid for. That inspector told me the new hot water tank would not meet the requirements for the rebate which I passed on to the Reliance salesman. He assured me it would....it did not. There were several other issues but this being one of the worst will do for now. So for sales I give you one star only because I couldn't give you no stars For service/maintenance I have nothing but high praise for and would five them a 5 star rating. They have always been punctual, professional, courteous and knowledgeable and always resolved any issues I have experienced. Kudos to Reliance service people and one for sales with a warning to those considering renting or buying from Reliance. Don't sign a thing until you have read every line of the contract and have in writing everything the sales person offered you.

Stay away from this company. If I could post a zero-star review here I would. Water heater leaked discovered and reported on Friday. Sunday afternoon, still not repaired. No-show on the service call, problem marked as "fixed" in Reliance's system, service guy shows up nearly 36 hours after the initial call and doesn't fix the problem. We'll get our own water heater, thanks, as I've never waited more than 2 hours for a service call on any other equipment. 8 years of payments for absolutely NO customer service. Tried to cancel my contract today but their "customer solution department" doesn't work on Sundays. At this point, do you honestly think that you have a "solution" for me? Insurance claim made, plus I've reported this to the BBB (for all the good that will do! How you have an A+ waiting with predominantly negative reviews is beyond me).

The two gentlemen who did the installation were amazing. Before leaving, they made sure I was aware of the shut valve and other essential information. They also made a point of explaining why they had to replace certain items. I certainly felt very comfortable with them and the quality of their customer service Personally, I do not see why I should be paying for something that had not been upgraded from the previous unit that was installed at this address. Since it is a rental unit, I feel those costs should have been covered or at least when I asked about any additional costs for the new installation, I should have been advised that there was a possibility that there might be some additional costs given the age of the unit that was here previously instead of telling me that there would be no costs for installation. The two service gentleman took the time to bring to my attention some issues with the furnace and made an appointment for someone to come to talk to me. Your lack of being thorough with your explanations regarding the new installation of my rented hot water heater leaves me to question how much I can trust your organization on an even bigger item.

The inspection done today by the serviceman was great. My only complaint is the time I waited. I originally booked the appointment on line two weeks ago. I got a confirmation email. I waited at home for the entire appointment two weeks ago. When I called in because nobody showed, I was told there were "problems" with the online booking system. The only available time was 1.5 weeks later (today). I'm sorry, if your online booking system isn't working, you don't make me wait another 1.5 weeks.

Awesome. Terry called me 15 minutes prior to arriving to confirm. He showed up exactly as scheduled (at start of the 4 hour window), very professional, knowledgable and completed the work in no time. Recently I have moved to a house that hot water tank is belongs to Reliance. I received the bill with delay and now I have to pay the late fee because they did not send it on time. also they are asking for three months in advance payment when I did not used their services yet. when I asked for monthly payment , then I was told to set up pre-authorized payment and they called it option. this is not an option, you are forcing customers to pay three months in advance from their pocket when they did not use your services yet specially in this COVID-19 situation that people are struggling. Forcing to set up pre-authorized payment and then charged them whatever you want and then customer should run after you to get the extra money back. I do not talk about the customer service because they were horrible. Now the owner will place a comment that say please provide your account number and full description of the issue to resolve the issue. I wish I could give them zero star, one star is also a lot for them. Nicole, in response to your message, if you would like to do something, please let your customers pay their invoices monthly without forcing them to accept pre-authorized payment.

Terrible experience! We purchased a new furnace from Reliance in January 2016, in part because they advised us that our previous furnace, at 17 years old, would likely start breaking down. Well, in the first 18 months of the "brand new" furnace, we have had the following problems: 1. The new ductwork was improperly installed, with large gaps (over 1 cm) between adjoining pieces. 2. The condensate trap leaked and had to be repaired. 3. The motherboard inside the furnace malfunctioned, shutting down the furnace on a freezing winter day, and needed to be replaced. 4. Utilities Kingston detected a gas leak and "red tagged" the furnace (shut it down) until a service person arrived to inspect and remove the tag. This is a bad furnace that is still on a two year, 100% satisfaction warranty. Yet, I have been chasing Reliance down for over *two months* to get a replacement furnace installed. I have made close to a dozen phone calls and numerous emails, and I still haven't heard back from anybody. The only thing more frustrating than the furnace has been the customer service. I wish I had gone with another company back in 2016, maybe Haven.

February 2019 our 50 year old furnace gave up the ghost. We called Reliance. All of the people we spoke to or dealt with were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Each time we were sent a customer satisfaction survey - we responded positively. But the bottom line is - since the initial installation - we've had 6 visits of repair guys! (All Reliance persons) Either a heating issue, and AC issue or a humidity issue. Each time - something wasn't set right. By the time the problems came to light - the survey was history - with no opportunity to express our dissatisfaction. I sure hope everything is all set to continue working now. What a pain.

We had our furnace quit working over night and had no heat in the middle of winter, an appointment was booked and our technician arrived early morning. Our tech Greg called prior to arrival advised of eta. Extremely punctual, and showed up when advised. Came prepared to enter my home in (PPE, booties and tools ready) Quickly diagnosed the issue, and ordered parts for permanent fix. Very poor customer service experience both times I have dealt with them. First time was a furnace install at a rental property I own. I found there service very unprofessional. Second time dealing with them was when I purchased another rental property with a rental hot water tank already in it. The the hot water tank did not work. While trying to resolve the issue I had to make many calls during which I experienced long holds. When I did speak with the company many of the representatives could not answer the questions I had. I received different information depending on who i talked to. Took 3 weeks before I finally got the info I needed.

I have had 3 different groups of people in within 24 hours to inspect, replace and repair my hot water tank and valves. The person I talked to on the phone both times I called was polite, professional, friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the problem. The electrician, plumber and hot water tank installation crew were all great! They asked if I had any questions and went out of their way to explain things and make sure that I was comfortable. The customer service experience has been absolutely fantastic the only issue I had was that as a renter I wish they would have been able to direct bill my landlord instead of billing it my account and then get reimbursed from the landlord.

They are an absolute nightmare to deal with! The furnace we bought from them had issues from the beginning. Every time they sent a tech out they said there is nothing wrong and the furnace got worse and worse to the point where it now completely stopped working in the middle of winter. You are not able to speak to anyone in Canada on the phone from this company and they will literally leave you to freeze if your furnace breaks down in the winter. We had to pay another company to come fix the furnace even though it's under warranty because their techs keep saying there's nothing wrong with it. Beware! Do not buy from them!

I contacted Reliance on the Saturday, and was very impressed with their commitment to bring me a completely new system by the Monday. Worst customer service. I've been trying to contact them to cancel my hot water tank rental for the past 3 days. I get put on hold and have been waiting up to an hour each time. They have no issue picking up their phones for new customers but once you request to cancel your account they place you on hold. I am resorting to writing a review on Google for someone to answer my request to cancel my account. In September I required my hot water tank to be repaired, it took THREE separate visits to replace the plastic spout to a brass spout. My hot water tank was leaking for almost a week straight before they could fix the problem..... Oh if you love a call centre that is not knowledgeable after hours then Reliance is a perfect fit for you. I've switched to Home Aire Care and am thrilled that I can speak to a person who knows how to provide excellent customer service.

This company is horrible had them come in to fix their water heater (it's a rental) it was fixed but the guy shut off the furnace in the middle of winter leaving my wife and kids with out heat. Then had another issue with their hot water heater called for a tech and the earliest they could come was 72 hours leaving my family with out hot water for 3 days. If at all possible DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY we will be switching to union gas or some other company. Any of the 5 stars you see are fake reviews I have not met one person happy with reliance home comfort thanks for reading and please avoid this company

Called Reliance today for no hot water issue at my elderly parents' home. Thermostat replaced one month ago, but now no hot water again. Was promised that someone would tend to it today by 8pm or perhaps a bit later. No one showed up, and no one called. Currently on hold now for 1 hour and 15 minutes, trying to get through to their '24/7 - 365 days a year' number. All I want to know is if someone will show up tomorrow. Ridiculous. I think perhaps that only one person mans the phones for all of Ontario past 8pm.

It turns out I was sent the wrong iron filter to begin with a double tank when it was a single tank that did the job better. The plumbers sent here to do the work they were told to do were great however unfortunately once a sale is made by salesperson zero follow up happens! If you have issues they almost never get back, always have to call to speak to a manager or try to, that's never an easy task either so far.

Bought a home that came with an 13 year old Hot Water Heater, tried to cancel the account and just own it outright. Reliance wanted $400 to buy it out. Or $150 for removal of it and pick up. (They charged the previous owner $35 x 12mn x 13 years = $5,460, without a single visit, single upgrade, or repair) I told them they had made enough money on this water heater, roughly 3x over it's value. The Customer Solutions person, corrected me and said more like 4x. They offered me a deal of $200 to buy out the account, which is about $200 too much. Or they could pick it up for FREE now. I phoned back multiple times to get clarity and discuss this matter, but Reliance is only interested in renting forever and when you're done with them....charging you on the way out the door. 0 of 5 Stars. The business model this company runs is pretty low brow.

So I called them because I have a pipe leak in my house. They told me that somebody's going to come the day after from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. So I mobilize myself at those timing waiting for their personnel, even if I had friends activities during that time, but I thought that a water leak at my house was more important than a friend activity. So Im waiting and at 07:50 PM I called them to let them know that their worker never came yet, they told me he was on the way and will arrive soon. So eventually he never came. I called them the next morning and I ask them nicely and politely what happened for them to let me down like that. They told me that they are sorry by reschedule me an appt the next day. I told them that I will call somebody else and thank you. Bad experience with a company that I'am a customer since I got here in Kingston because im renting a water heater from them. They really need to review their customer service policy when its time to serve customer.

We had our Sales Rep speak to us on Feb. 25, 2017. Sean Hennessey. Talked us into doing the furnace and air system upgraded on Feb. 28. I had to take the day off work for the install. The installers came, nice guys, did good work.....EXCEPT, they told me they could not do the air conditioner, as their truck was too small and they did not have torches. I didn't learn this till too late before the furnace was removed. The installer tried to get another guy to come out to install the air conditioner, but could not get anyone. He told me to ask for a Saturday install. He said someone would call to schedule an appointment for the air conditioner. My wife and I left several calls, emails and text messages for our sales rep, Sean Hennessey.....NO luck. The only people I can call is the main Reliance number. Even the Kingston office number sends you to the Toronto call centre. It has been a week, have no call from ANYONE about scheduling the air conditioner to be installed. Worst customer service ever. Do not buy from Reliance. Find a reliable contractor, and get them to do it. PS - part of the deal we got was 8 months free rental. We received 9, according to our contract to make up for the day I had to take off work. Problem is Reliance just sent a bill, but only gave us 3 months paid. Looks like that will be another battle....

Reliance's (excellent) plumber Paul Lesage came over today...on a Sunday expecting to repair a small pinhole in the hot water pipe for water leaving the water heater. He fixed this right away then spent a patient two additional hours tracing, cutting and removing L joints to finally find one in which a tiny plug was stuck, occluding the hot water pressure in all eight sinks and three showers in out B&B. RELIANCE HOME DISCOMFORT I got my proposal on Jan 3rd 2019 bought the furnace Jan.23rd 2019 the Union gas comp. put the gas line in may the Reliance co.put the furnace in in June 24th I was told they would get in touch with Union gas to put meter on no response despite several calls to Reliance. I got in touch with union gas myself in Sept. they had no contact from Reliance Union gas came to put on meter and there was a leak got hold of reliance fixed leak because of all the problems and wait times was promised a $500 check from reliance Sept.18th. enbridge gas showed up last week to put my gas line in as per reliance order. talked to worker and he remembered putting my gas in in may. wow if I hadn't done the leg work my gas would not be hooked up until after October 1st. . nope no check yet they say it must have gotten lost in mail. they called today Oct 7th to offer me a visa card! I said no. when told of the forthcoming check I bought my wife a ticket to Edmonton to see our Granddaughter. the installers who work for Reliance are great. I'm talking about Matt, Randy & Lance. the office and director people don't know if they are coming or going will not recommend you to my friends and neighbours Very upset Nelson Lascelle

Our old water heater stopped working, we knew when we bought the house it was on its last legs so were prepared to replace it with a rental from Reliance because we'd used them at previous residences. We called them first thing the next morning and they were out to us (an hour from Kingston) with a new tank that afternoon. As it turned out the current one was installed with many code violations so we had to work through alternative solutions with them and they had to return a day later. Recently signed up for the monthly plumbing plan, as finding local plumbers who are good and are not booked ahead for the next month isn't easy. Reliance gets you a good plumber within a day, and the plan seems to be a very good deal for general maintenance/repairs. And then I went with Reliance for replacing my furnace and air conditioner with a very efficient and super quiet Carrier system. Both sales reps I dealt with were professional and not pushy, nor did they require a 60-90 minute selling appointment. Customer service and installers were very responsive, they let me know when they were arriving, used masks and distancing. One part of the install wasn't available, so they gave me the option of temporarily installing a different type of filter until the one i ordered arrives, or rescheduling.

He was able to look at our furnace and change it to be from constant low-heat to the two low/high heat, plus also confirm that the A/C install in December 2020 was OK and we were good to flip over (eventually) for summer heat. I've dealt with reliance for about 6 years now. I had a furnace installed and multiple hot water heater contracts. I had them come in to upgrade my hot water tank from a 40L to a 60L My payment went from 12$ to 25$ a month which i expected. They put in a refurbished hot water tank that was damaged all along the bottom. When i confronted them about this they told me if they were responsible for the repairs then why does it matter if they put in a used tank? not only is this thing damaged, It's not aesthetically pleasing. Within the first year it broke down and leaked all over my basement 4 times. Each time they sent someone over who claimed it was fixed. The 5th time they finally replaced it and put in a brand new unit. I'm not impressed. Minor issues with their work like venting pipes not glued and just left loose on my furnace outside. Today i called to attempt to set up pre authorized payments and they told me i would have to print the form, fill it out and send it to them by mail. The other option is to create an online account. I attempted to create an online account but my bills don't have my billing number on them. So now i have to call and request my account number just to create my account. something that has taken me literally 10 minutes with the utility, gas and other hot water tank rental companies has now taken me an hour. Be careful of rental contracts. You can never own the appliance. If you want to get out of the contract you have to buy out the 5 year term and pay for their contractor to remove the tank. so just to be clear you payed for the thing many times over and they remove it and use it somewhere else. I won't be giving them my money again in the future.

I have a tank from reliance. I had it upgraded the other week. I mean they respond fast enough. But with the price of copper watch what they do in your place. The tech who replaced my tank saw my setup and cut out a huge piece of copper pipe and replaced it with plexy. No reason to do it he just wanted the copper for scrap. He also wrecked the main line water valve to my house which is now leaking. So I have to do an emergency water shut off to my house with the city to replace the valve myself...

I had a furnace installed in my garage last summer. It was installed by a subcontractor who had absolutely no idea what they were doing. The installation had several safety and compliance issues that I had to redo and correct myself. The trench they dug was at points less than 8" and in a location (my garden) that was susceptible to damage from my cultivator. They damaged both my concrete and garage siding with their trencher. They totally disregarded any input from me. They installed a damaged unit. They installed the electrical panel cover both upside down and inside out. The galvanized venting had to be replaced with stainless by company staff a few months after the initial install. They left a mess inside my garage and did a butcher job of running their wire. It took quite a while to get an undamaged unit. So far it has taken at least 5 visits from them to inspect or correct issues and I still haven't heard anything about repairing the damage to my garage. Company staff were good to deal with and professional but they didn't want to or couldn't fix the mess the subcontractor left me with. Just a bizarre experience and a year later is not completely resolved. If something seems to be an easy and professional install beware.

Basically a scam company? I had to assume a predatory rental "agreement" when I bought my house (Reliance took so long to email me the documents that the former homeowners were threatening me with legal action). They didn't service my water heater when a tech came out even though they are contractually obligated. They have already charged me for the entire cost of a furnace but I would now need to pay more than market value to buy it out OR $700 to have them uninstall it so I can start dealing with someone reasonable. Brutal.

Extremely unprofessional and not responsive at all. I have been trying to book an appointment for more than 40 days now to replace an old exhaust fan in the bathroom. They booked me 4 times and cancelled the appointment ever time at the last moment. Now they told me that nothing is available till August. Because of the delay on their end, the return policy on the exhaust fan which I bought has been expired. Now in case of any issues with the fan, I will have to bear all the cost. I am extremely disappointed and I am looking forward to discontinue all the monthly maintenance services which I purchased from reliance.

Last night our older water tank developed a crack & started pouring water all over the cellar floor -- we turned off the intake & then spent an awful lot of time shovelling water down the drain. Luckily it was a Reliance rental unit, so we were able to phone Reliance & they sent us Jack: a first-rate repairman & so pleasant & cheerful. He saw the old tank couldn't be fixed, took it away, & installed a new one. It took him a good five hours to do it (in fact he's still outside caulking the new vent), but now we can flush toilets again & soon there'll be hot water to wash in, thank goodness. I was told a service person would be at my home within 4 hours and they would call on their way. The subcontractor did a very poor unprofessional job on the install. Reliance promptly sent their install team out to fix the botch job. Their install team were extremely prompt and efficient. The reliance employees went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. I have plans for another install. I would use reliance contractors again but not have a subcontractor do a Reliance install - the subcontractor has no vested interest therefore no real pride in the out come.

We called Reliance the evening of 8 April because our hoy water heater was no working and leaking water. They promised to send someone the next day (Good Friday) between 8 am and 1 pm. Barry (Team Member # 1691) called in advance and showed up at 11 am on the 9th. He was extremely helpful and thorough, and very courteous, explaining everything to us. He summarised saying that we needed a new heater and phoned Reliance, insisting that we needed a new heater the very same day. At 2:30 pm the same day, Ben (Team Member # 14475) arrived with a new water heater and proceeded to install it. He too was most helpful and efficient. By 4 pm, we had hot water once again. Leaking became worse, started flooding basement rec room, called back and advised them of new situation, told my appointment was now 4 days out. Called local plumber, was at my home in 1 hour. Couldn’t fix issue as it was a rental but contained the leak. Called contractor re damage cost, $4000, need to ripe up and replace carpet as well as ripping out wall that is wet. Independent plumber and contractor to my home within 3 hrs. Home Reliance not in home for 3-4 days for emergency. Do not rent from this company, their glad to take your money for rentals but when their equipment has problems, they are happy to see your home damaged. Rental beware!!!!!!!

Seven months ago Reliance came into my home for two plumbing issues. The plumber Paul was excellent. At the end of the service I paid Paul in cash the full amount and he initialed paid in cash. Seven and a half months later I get a letter from Reliance that my account is in arrears. (Their accounts receivable must be a mess, who sends a letter 7 months later!) When I called the toll free number the lady asked for proof. Not only did I provide the proof, but the documentation clearly showed I over paid by a couple of dollars. I am more offended that I got the letter in the first place. The lady I spoke with was very rude. I had proof that I paid, where was their proof that I didn't pay? Because I was frustrated and offended I explained I wanted to be reimbursed for my over payment along with 7.5 months interest. The lady said "you only overpaid by$1.68 and you want to be reimbursed?". I said "You wanted me to pay you when you asserted I didn't pay, it works both ways." I further explained if I went into a store and paid $120.00 cash and the bill was $119.00, I would get change of $1.00. It's the principal of the situation. You don't send letters to people when they DON'T owe you money!!! Interesting how she expected me to pay when she thought I owed money, but now that she is in arrears with me she doesn't seem to think she should pay me. Is this how big companies work? Will never ever use Reliance again. Humiliated and Offended!!!

I placed a call at 1:30 this morning because of a burning smell coming from my heat vents and the furnace shut off. The best they could do for a priority 1 call was have someone come out 48 hrs later while we are without heat. I have a maintenance plan with them and they have no technicians available. There is no supervisor available. It’s safe to say I will be canceling my plan and in the event a new furnace is needed, I will be getting it elsewhere. No service = terrible service ????

Very inexperienced and unprofessional water heater technicians. I called them for a leakage from the plumbing they did when they installed the rental water heater years ago. Technician came in and tells me that they don't cover these issues although they might have installed it in the past. Opens and closes the gate valve for the cold water. As soon as he leaves, the gate valve starts to leak as well. Later on in the day I myself fixed the original leakage issue. Regarding the leakage on the gate valve that the technician left behind, when booked another service call, the next day, another technician phones and addresses me as "hey" as though I am his buddy. He asked me about the issue, and I explained to him what happened. After listening to me, he mentioned to me that it is a common issue, so he'll come and get it fixed with in half hour. Ten minutes later he calls me again and tells me that the leak was already there, so he'll cancel the service call and won't fix the issue the other technician created by messing with the gate valve. Later it took myself and my neighbour about another half hour to fix the mess the first technician left behind. Absolutely unreliable bunch of water heater technicians with whom I would rather not deal with in future. Not recommended.

Our furnace quit working at 6 pm. I called Reliance and explained what was wrong. The woman at the service center said the earliest repair time would be the next day between 7 and 11. I said that was unacceptable as we had no heat and I pay for a full service plan. She said she was sorry but that was the soonest we could get anyone. I called another Reliance service number and they told me the same thing. However that service person said let me call and see if we have someone on call that can help. She found a serviceman and he came within the hour and repaired my furnace. If I had not pursued the matter with Reliance I would have had a cold night. That second woman offered the service we expected. The first person was totally unacceptable and made me think we needed to find another company to do business with.

I called Reliance on October 12th as our owned water heater unit stopped working. I selected a new rental unit from Reliance and scheduled an installation Oct 13th between 1 and 5. My husband waited until 4 and then let me know they still had not arrived. When I called the main number they said they sent an email to the installation crew to contact us with their ETA. I left for work at 5pm and then called my husband at 8 who advised they No Show/ No Call. I called customer service who made inquiry and advised that the unit was out of stock. I asked why no one let us know and the attendant couldn't explain or advise what was in stock. Needless to say they lost a contract and we are headed to Home Depot in the morning to purchase another one. Terrible Service!

Some aspects of this company are good. We currently rent our furnace, water heater, and air conditioner from Reliance and we definitely appreciate the convenience of having systems that are covered if they malfunction and the cost isn't completely unreasonable. However, we were definitely not happy with how difficult it seemed to be to get someone to come and actually install our rented air conditioner. We had three consecutive appointments in which no one showed or called to indicate they were not coming during the scheduled time. Each time we called, the representative we spoke with was pleasant enough and assured us that they would get to the bottom of it, but it just kept happening anyway. The whole experience left us feeling like our time wasn't valued and that our business isn't very appreciated. On the day of our third scheduled and missed appointment we finally had someone show up at 4 p.m. - they were supposed to be there by no later than 11 a.m. - and I suspect they finally showed up because at that point we were quite angry and frustrated. Everything was completed and installed with no further issues - although it did mean that after all of our wasted time from the previous no shows that the plans we had for that night had to be cancelled. But I guess at least it was finally done. After how upset we were though, I have to say I was surprised that no one from Reliance made a point to follow up with us to apologize for the hassle and stress this caused and to ensure that we were now happy. So not great customer service.

I have had such a problem with this company and lack of attention to the customer. I have made calls to this company to have a new hot water tank installed and they did not remove their old non-functioning hot water tank. I have called countless times and booked time off work via Tues and Thurs and waited for a tech s to remove. One day one tech said he can't do it by himself. I waited all day and took time off work to get this tank removed. Did this again and found the techs say they can't remove it not enough clearance in basement..I find this hard to believe we they installed the new tank. I have requested to speak to customer service and they simply say if you tank the tank out yourself we will have a team pick it up at your residence. If I could do that I would simply have taken it to scrap. Secondly I have called to get explanations on billing and they keep adding interest onto my account in a week it is been $30. I have waited on the phone to speak to billing and you get placed in a queue and wait and wait...and the department is only available from 9-5. I cannot access my on-line account as they blocked my access. I don't think that is legal and I am quite prepared to take legal action at this point. There is no customer operations manager as I repeatedly have been denied to speak to them. Also, I understand there are many unhappy customers and Reliance does not care about the customer.

I have been 3 days waiting for repairs on their rented water heater. They have now twice not shown up or called within in their window. The first time they showed up 20 minutes before the end of that window with no parts or unable to fix. Wasting my time from work! If they habe to replace tank I could be up to 7 plus days with no hot water!

Our newly installed(Reliance) tank less hot water system, failed to heat water on the morning of Nov.15. A call to the Reliance Service phone number was answered by a rep whose first language was not English, therefore communication was difficult. She indicated that the first time available to service my system was Nov.17. It was explained to her that this was not acceptable as there are 3 people in the household who require showers in addition various other things that use hot water, dishes, hand washing etc. After much complaining an appointment was set up for Nov. 16 which was the best she could do. Again not acceptable. A later (45 min) call to the same service call center, another agent with the same language barrier answered, and said he could request through his supervisor that a repair technician may be able to come to our home between 4pm & 8pm on the 15th . This was not guaranteed but if not, the Nov. 16 appointment would be best they could do. The service tech called about 4:40 saying he was on is way. He arrived and determined that there was a faulty GFI receptacle(Reliance installed) where the system was plugged in, and after trying to reset it a few times he was able to get it to hold. He indicated he would put in a work order for an electrician to replace the outlet. On the morning of the 16th this same outlet malfunctioned, again no hot water. Fortunately a family member watched the tech fix the problem the day before and was able to reset the GFI. Hopefully the electrician will come soon, because if this GFI trips in the middle of a shower the shock will be immediate.

DO NOT EVER USE RELIANCE. Our heat pump was scheduled to be installed today. I took the day for this as I was told they legally needed someone to be home. No one arrived. I called and was informed that the installer had to have emergency surgery and our install was rescheduled until Tuesday. No problem, frustrating that I was never contacted but what can you do. As a result, I was offered to be mailed a $500 cheque due to the frustration - sweet! I was then emailed “I have spoken with both the sale manger and the install manger, and they did apologize about the install has been booked for Mid Aug as they do not have the unit in stock and will have to wait for this to arrive. I have emailed back to follow up and see if we can do it sooner and they advised they will follow up if possible.”........ so was it because our installer had to have surgery or because they never had the unit?! I called back again and long story short they will no longer give me the promised $500 and cannot do anything until middle of august EVEN THOUGH I BOOKED MY APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY 3 WEEKS AGO. Never ever ever use this company. They do not communicate with you, they make false promises and they essentially screw you over. Horrendous service and I will never use or recommend them ever to anyone.

Terrible and unprofessional company. Contacted Reliance to come pick up their hot water tank on a rental property i own back in October 2017. In may 2018 i learned they had neglected to do that and continued to bill me. A customer service agent stated i could drop it off for free or have it picked up for $60. I informed they i would be dropping it off. Upon arrival they told me there would be a $400-600 charge. Personal are always nice and comprehensible they take the time to listen and explain what happening. The techs are awesome and hard working, we had a few guys out to do the installation and it took them all day cuz we have a teeny tiny utility room and it was so hot! But they worked hard and got it up and running with no problems, even fixed some things that were unrelated to their job for us. Also had a guy out cuz our pump went caput only about a week after getting it installed. Fixed it fast and was friendly! Only thing we dislike about this company is the call centre. I called early AM cuz our AC was no longer working, all we wanted was to get it fixed. The woman on the phone started to try and sell me something though. I couldn’t understand her because there was a thick accent and their phones were very quiet. I had a baby crying in the background which I’m sure she heard and yet she continued to try and sell me whatever it was. I still have no idea what it was as I kept repeating we didn’t need anything else and I had a baby crying in the background. I ended up just hanging up on her.

Unfortunately our furnace/heat stopped working Friday afternoon and when I called for Emergency Service the call person told me the earliest she could have someone here was Sunday, 2 days later in the middle of a cold spell. I fortunately got the furnace to start again by turning the furnace off and on but it was an intermittent problem so I worried all weekend. My wife and I decided to upgrade from a hot water heater to one without a tank. The appointment was booked but Reliance called to change the appointment then the Representative called to say she was double booked but eventually arrived 2 hours late. Our contract shows zero $ for installation but the installer told us it would be over $400. 2 technicians arrived at about noon and could not complete the work, we were left with barely warm water for several days. The new unit could not fit where the Representative had indicated that it would go spoiling our renovation plans. Hopefully the technicians will show up tomorrow to finish the work so that we can shower and wash dishes again in hot water. New unit was installed yesterday However....... Our furnace and air conditioner are not working today, both were fine before the new installation yesterday. Kyle took a smoke detector down and has not put it back also there is a slight water leak from one of the pipes that went to the old heater. I spoke to service and after 20 minutes I was told that a contractor would call and be here today. The contractor called and said he does not do this type of work, he told me to call service again. I called back and after I insisted they agreed to send someone today but they called me back and said a technician couldn't come till Thursday of next week. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor but after having me on hold for another 15 minutes I was transferred to sales ?? The person in sales could not help and cut me off. Sorry but I am not impressed at all.

However, the call centre taking the initial all and making the appointment leaves a lot to be desired. I actually asked the person why it was taking so long. I believe I am a very patient person, but this was inexcusable.

As the temperature outside dropped and with continuous rain, I saw a puddle at the bottom of my Furnace. I tried to check for any clogged drainage valves myself at first, but everything was clear. Thankfully, I was still having my Reliance Home comfort coverage and called them, took a service Technician appointment at my convenient time. I received a call before the Technician Ian showed up and he found out where the leakage was happening , fixed the problem in no time. Ian also explained to me what the issue was going on and what's to take care in future, Brilliant service, we are very happy and satisfied that we had this home care protection plan, in fact I added A/C too with my plan last year. The contractor that came out last week never changed any filters, left the gas turned off inside the furnace. Left a furnace filter for a different furnace sitting beside the furnace. The reliance company employee that showed to fix the contractors issues was excellent.

Price was good, sales associate was good. One member of the three member installation crew was a bit gruff and unpleasant to converse with. Main problems were: 1 - the ac condenser installed was faulty (didn't work). 2 - A ~2" hole was drilled through the wall for the refrigeration lines and improperly sealed. At first Reliance was going to repair the condenser but they then decide to replace outright which I was happy with. They also came back and resealed the hole with silicone (previously there was clear gap in the seal), after some further discussion they agreed to seal the hole with expanding home aswell (which to me I think any hvac installation would do without asking). At the end of the day my system is in and appears to be functioning. The end result should be satisfactory but it was not a straight forward route to get there.

Reliance isn't Reliable... I previously called my usual plumbing company for an issue with my water tank but since they were booked out for the weekend I called Reliance Home Comfort due to the high amount of reviews. They had me scheduled on Sunday between 1 and 6 pm, so we made our plan accordingly and stayed home. Then around 2 pm I get a call that they only have one guy working on Sundays and he's on a big job an hour away and won't be able to make it; they want to re book the next day! I said no, otherwise I would've gone with my usual plumbing company and my hot water is off the last 2 days, I need my appointment as scheduled. I'm a customer, it's not my job to tell you how to schedule your clients and make sure you fulfill your commitment to all customers waiting that day. Maybe other people don't mind being shuffled around but I expect my booking to be fulfilled just like they expect to be paid once the job is done. So after looking around I found another plumber to come on the Sunday and fix my issue, so I cancelled Reliance.

It took 3 different techs to complete this job of replacing a defective hot water heater. Hot water line leaked and was poorly placed on the first visit, the 2nd tech knew enough to call in a plumber tech to finish the job well. However, I am not too pleased having to pay $183 to replace 4 feet of Venting PVSO pipe that took 10 minutes of work. I have been a rental customer for over 10 years and would appreciate a little customer appreciation from you during these troubled times

Double trouble for me. An inoperable shower and a leak in the kitchen. Called reliance. They had a technician on site. Chris. Within 90 minutes. Chris is a moen expert and knew what parts to replace. Small kitchen leak turned out to be a drain replacement. Again Chris had all the parts and the fix was much better than what was there as he knows his stuff. Chris certainly saved the day at my house!!

Most pleased with the Service Technician, Rob, who attended today. He called before his arrival, was friendly, helpful and very kind. He instructed me on every step of his inspection and repair. He found a problem never notice by other Technicians, and has taken steps to make necessary repairs, ordered parts, for a second visit. I recommend Rob for further visits, at our home or wherever he is sent. On the down side, I regret, I was disappointed last Wednesday, when I called the Reliance call centre, and was informed, there was nobody available to attend to examine and address our furnace problem, until the following day, which meant we could be without a working furnace. The furnace started acting up, Saturday/Sunday, so I called again Sunday morning and made arrangements for today's visit. This call taker (Heidi), Sunday morning was very understanding and was making arrangements to send someone right away. We were going to be out for the day and made arrangements for today. On Wednesday, last week, I spoke to a Supervisor (Paula), who instructed me to purchase two portable heaters, at a reasonable price, and submit the purchase to a Reliance department and I would be reimbursed. As I indicated, "I pay for the service, I want heat". The supervisor was friendly and instructed me to turn the furnace off and turn it back on to reset it, which worked, until Saturday. Although, the experience was a let down, and shouldn't happen, I'm satisfied with today's outcome. Sincerely, Tom

New to the Napanee area, I called Reliance based on their positive reviews. Selecting "commercial" from the automated menu, I was connected to a receptionist and discussed the services I needed. I needed an inspection for a gas boiler for a 7 unit building. I explained I live 1.5 hours away but was assured the agent would call before arriving. I drove 1.5 hours to be told by the agent, who called before his arrival, that Reliance doesn't service commercial boilers. OK, well that was a huge waste of time. The agent passed my name to a 3rd party company. Receiving no callback, I called Reliance and explained my story, provide my address, and asked for the 3rd party's contact information. I called the number provided, only to be told they don't service my location. Wow, really!? OK, so I see Reliance isn't reliable. I need to stop calling as it seems they don't know what services they offer or who to call. The only positive thing was the agent that came to the building was very nice.

We had a hot water tank installed and then went out to camp for 2 days. Came back and had a flooded basement. Not from fittings or water lines, but from bottom of tank which they smashed down each step into my basement. Now all I wanted was so.eone to come and fix it today but no one can get here till Tues (it is Sunday). They told us to shut off hot water tank, that's not going to work. Unwilling to find someone to come and help they were rude to my wife who was pleading for them to just find someone. Zero help and zero accountability. Extremely frustrated, piss poor service, brutal workmanship, bad company.

I just had a service call at my home for a clogged drain in my basement. I want to see that the service I received was outstanding. \\my technician was Chris H. Team member # 110084 Chris was very prompt and very knowledgeable. . He resolved my drain issue and gave me a very good explanation on the issue. He also discovered a very dangerous issue with a main drain that was open and leaking dangerous methane gas into my home. He fixed that issue was well. Had new furnace and A/C installed the first week in Dec of 2020. Went out to uncover the A/C to use this year....HMMMMMM...no cover...except the plywood we used to cover the old unit....notices the unit was damaged...they did not tell us in Dec. Called and reported the damage, sent pics and was told The office probably wont do anything about it. Turned on the A/C..14 hours later the house has gone down 2 degrees. Called again..he doesnt work there anymore. SO another call to the 1800 number...got the run around for days. Finally spoke with the CRS manager. She told me to send her pic and I did,she was suppose to contact me within the hour and here we are STILL....NO RESPONSE. I am so frustrated Im to the point that i want a FULL REFUND and they can come and get their stuff and I will go elsewhere

The crew arrived on time as scheduled and wasted no time getting started installing a tankless hot water system. After a quick survey of the site I was given a couple of options with respect to location and venting, with clear explanations of each option. They worked quickly and efficiently, with less disruption than I had expected. The work was completed on schedule, and I must complement them on an extremely neat and tidy job. It is not often one can say that these days. All in all I am very pleased with the level of expertise and attention to detail shown by Adam and his partner (who's name I unfortunately cannot remember). Called Reliance Heating & Air Conditioning 24 hour customer service at 2:20am Monday morning because my furnace quit working. The gentleman who answered the call sounded like he just rolled out of bed. He took all my information down and said I would have a tech at my place between 10am & 2pm on the same day I called. I cancelled my appointments for that day to wait for the tech. At 2:15pm still no tech, not even a call. I called Reliance back to find where the tech was, to find out my info wasn’t put into the system to get a tech and now it’s been over 12 hours with no heat. Can’t say I’m impressed!

I had to pay $208.33 to Reliance for a water heater I did not have. I rent in an apartment building and do not own my unit, yet when the Building Manager decided to remove the water heater Reliance continued to bill me for a year then harass me for the final $15.29 bill. Even getting several nasty voicemails about sending a Collection Agency after me! I have paid $193.04 and now the final bill of $15.29 for a water heater I DID NOT HAVE. All Customer Service says is that I have to pay the bill till the water heater is returned even though I, as a renter, had no control over it's removal or return. A Customer Service agent said I should pay the bill and just forget about it... because apparently $208.33 shouldn't matter to me as a single income, but matters to a massive company like Reliance.

Greg Seeley was very thorough and professional. He found difficulty with some developing rust, which we did not know we had, in spite of having our furnace serviced by Reliance every fall. It seems the service agents did not have cameras to inspect all places in the system until recently. If we had known sooner there was a developing problem, we may have been able to fix it. Instead we have to replace the whole furnace.

Thanks, William, for the furnace inspection. Not only did William identify issues BEFORE they could become major problems (such as a saddle valve that really should be replaced before I have a catastrophic flood) but he patiently explained everything. Now I have a follow-up on appointment on Monday to fix the issue for good. I use Reliance for heating/cooling, plumbing, and electrical and have never had anything but great experiences with the technicians: they're always extremely capable and professional and and I literally sleep better at night knowing that I have the Reliance Home Protection Plan.

Somehow, I couldn't leave my detailed review so here it goes. I have all my services with Reliance for years and hope they carry our confidence as always. The current job was an HRV installation and a central humidifier along with some led pot lights in ceiling. The team included Michael McMaster, Brenden, Kyle and Mike. They arrived well in time and started with floor protection and ended by getting all cleaned up. Michael has always been very helpful whenever he comes for the service call and this time he went above all to guide through the right way. The new place where we moved didn't have exhausts so we were deciding whether having exhausts installed versus HRV. Michael co ordinated with Branden and infact was able to visit with him for a thorough discussion about work and helping us to to go for HRV which for sure was a right decision. Branden is very knowledgeable and go on answering every question in his scope of work. For us the important thing was to make a knowledgeable decision and then look for the installers which stand for their work for years to come and Reliance definitely do. I will also like to mention about Ben Freeman, who was the sales advisor and was always available to answer the questions through email and texts and even on the day of installation, he coordinated to make sure that job is well taken care of.

I have used Reliance Home Comfort in all my homes. I rent a water heater and they maintain my furnace an air conditioner. I have always found the local staff in Kingston to be very helpful. I recently needed service on my water heater. This was during the busy holidays when many companies don't answer the phone. Someone came out the same day and repaired it within the hour. I also didn't have to pay an expensive invoice because service costs are included in my rental rate. Highly recommend them for water heaters, furnace & AC repair.

Our hot water tank spilled all over the floor on Saturday July 1st . We cleaned it up and I phoned and told the girl I needed a new water tank on Sunday July 2nd and was told no one could come that day. I took an appointment for Monday July 3rd from 7-11:00. The technician showed up at 2:00 and was only here about 10 minutes and said I needed a tank. He does not install tanks and said someone would be here on Tuesday from 7-11:00. The 2 that showed up started the installation and stopped and said they couldn't put that tank in because my chimney flue was too big. I needed a tank with a air vent on it. They came back on Wednesday at 8:05 and put the tank in. They were done by 10:30. These 2 guys were the best 2 workers you could ever ask for. I asked the question as to why someone shows up to look at a job that can't fix it. It totally wasted my whole day Monday and then couldn't do a thing on Tuesday either. I believe the technician that came on Monday should have looked the job over and told whoever was going to fix it what they needed.,
