Not all renos go smooth and this one didn't but when we did have concerns it was met with positive and dealt with in a timely fashion. After close to 30 years of living with our dated and tired looking 1980’s kitchen, we hired Rempel Builders to do a total renovation for us. Out with the old, and in with the new! We love our new kitchen! It is contemporary, stylish and an absolute pleasure to work in. It is a complete transformation. From the beautiful quartz countertops, to the stainless steel farmhouse sink and the extra high (and beautiful) cabinetry, it still wows us every time we walk into the room. BEWARE Where do I start. We wanted to renovate our small bathroom and after a recommendation, decided to give our business to Rempel. We were promised that the project would be done in a timely manner considering we only had 1 shower in the house so we made arrangements to shower elsewhere during this time. We were given 2-3 months timeline. It took them from March 2021 and it is now almost December 2021 is currently still not finished. All they have left to do is finish the glass shelf in the shower niche and it's been months of waiting just for that. There was consecutive weeks where nothing was done and there was nearly zero communication as to when the reno would resume. The vanity that was installed was way too big and not according to the agreed specs. At first they tried to get us to accept it and "try to live with it". I am glad we pressed to stay with the original specifications. Needless to say, this was a huge mistake and delayed the project further but we were the ones still without a functioning bathroom. The drywall job was subpar. The mudding and taping was rushed. There was areas where the painter missed. There are tiny holes where drywall mud was applied. The transition from the bathroom floor to the hallway floor looks unfinished. The door slab now leaves a huge gap at the bottom that wasnt there before. The shower niche is way too big and not according to THEIR specs. They forgot to replace the trim around the inside of the bathroom door and cut the wall around rather than removing the trim and replacing the wall behind it. They forgot to order the new light fixtures delaying the work even further. At a cost of 30k plus, this is unacceptable but we were expecting our first child in July and were exhausted of having to chase and oversee the project We wont be recommending this company and will share our experience with others

Last summer I hired a different company to replace my aging roof. The company representative quickly discovered that I had some serious issues with my outside wall and would need to have the matter addressed before they could proceed with the new roof. Since it was the middle of the summer, finding a reputable firm that could do the necessary work was extremely difficult and all were unavailable to help for that summer. When I saw the impressive website for Rempel Builders I contacted them to see if they could help me out and Ivan Plett responded immediately. He came out to my house and assessed the situation. By now I was starting to feel panic as no one was willing to take on the job as their schedules were booked for the summer. Ivan assured me that Rempel Builders would help me and the job would get done that summer. I realized that my job was likely not the highest priority for many companies, but Ivan calmed my fears and the work was started. It turned into a much bigger job than anticipated originally and Larry Rempel expertly tore down the outside wall and rebuilt it. As I was on holidays for the summer, I was able to watch the progress and chat with Larry on a daily basis. He was meticulous and methodical in tearing down the old wall, identifying the water damage inside the wall and the work that would be needed to properly rebuild the wall. At the end of each day the job sight was cleaned up and made secure. I was very impressed with the excellent quality of work done by Rempel Builders and especially the customer service. I have peace of mind knowing I hired the right company to do the best job for me! The roofing company was able to give me a new roof shortly after the work was completed. I have been letting friends and family know of Rempel Builders and the job that they did for me. Our experience with Rempel Builders and their quality of work at 30 Dvoras Cove during 2018 was outstanding. It was a pleasure communicating with Ivan Plett, the project manager, during the entire scope of work. He made sure we knew what was going on every step of the way. That alone was awesome because of the sheer magnitude of the project. In the past, we did not have good experiences with a majority of renovation companies. However, at our introduction meeting, we were all made to feel very comfortable and confident under Ivan's direction and assurances. For example, if we were to ask about an alteration or adjustment to the interior plan, he would comment on its feasibility with respect to building code and best cost option. Ivan Plett is extremely knowledgeable in his field of expertise. The man knows what he's talking about. I have met many people in the construction business, being in the real estate service sector, and I would rank him among the best in residential building construction knowledge and experience. We had Rempel Builders look at our older stucco home. We asked them for suggestions on replacing an old porch and to re design the look of a tired stucco exterior. We worked together and came up with a plan to change the look of the front with hardy board siding, decorative rock, new windows, new garage door and new porch. Real wood features, new lighting and natural colors in the siding completely changed the whole exterior. The workmen, designers and the contractor communicated clearly and we never had surprises. I am told all the time how lovely the home looks now and what a difference the up grade has made to our property. Rempel Builders were excellent home renovators changing our home into a updated, comfortable home.

In the fall of the 2020 pandemic, Rempel Builders took on a renovation for our little bungalow home. Even though our reno was small in size, Ivan and his crew treated us so well, always attentive and quickly responded to any of our concerns. I could not say enough great things about Ivan and his excellent communication skills which made this experience a joy! He is extremely professional, courteous, and always made time for me when I had questions. From the very start, Ivan was without a doubt the reason we went with Rempel Builders, and we could not be any happier with that decision. Ivan’s crew was just as amazing; they made us feel comfortable and safe as they proceeded with the construction while we were all still living in the home. The construction site was kept clean, we were kept well informed, and everyone was respectful of the Covid-19 protection measures. John, our site manager, was so kind, well spoken and extremely knowledgeable. We had a few hard decisions to make, but with John being there to support us we never felt overwhelmed or pressured in any way. On more than one occasion, my flurry of questions and concerns would have likely overwhelmed your typical individual, but John never once showed an ounce of annoyance and was always so good in his responses in absolutely every exchange. John was very good to us and I appreciate all of the effort he put into our little reno. His crew, Kevin and Derek, were just as amazing. They are absolutely hard working, punctual, and were a pleasure to deal with day in and day out. Kevin’s carpentry skills were a thing of beauty; I’m jealous of his skills and there isn’t a thing in this house that Kevin touched that doesn’t look perfect! Our golden retriever made very good friends with Kevin as well :P In conclusion, there are many more things that could be said, but nothing really sums it up like a big thank you to everyone involved. You gave our little bungalow a little bit of love and for that we are extremely grateful!

Friends had recommended Rempel Builders after using them to finish their basement, and we signed up for a whole home renovation with them. Their attention to detail was apparent from day one, when Ivan and his team of contractors descended en mass to do a complete walk through of the plans. We were very impressed by the collaboration between the various trades involved, right from day one. Our designer had come up with some very complex ideas, which required creative thinking when it came to implementation. As with any major renovation, a few things didn’t easily translate from paper to design, but on those few instances Ivan and team worked closely with our designer and came up with solutions which turned out even better than originally drawn. John was our site manager and he kept the place spotless throughout the renovation. Trades were well coordinated and we never felt inconvenienced in spite of the majority of the house being in some state of renovation. The build ran on time overall, and with only a few minor adjustments to price along the way (which were well communicated and agreed before any incremental work progressed). We found Ivan and team were very particular about the quality of the work done by all the trades – they clearly take great pride in their work. The outcome exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Rempel Builders, and look forward to our next renovation with them.

Last year, I purchased a condo from its original owner - it was built in the early 1970's and needed quite a bit of updating but I wanted to keep the feel of the 70's in the colours and finishes that I was using throughout (yes I did go with an olive green kitchen and I kept the harvest gold tub!). I'd worked with Rempel before and was happy to be able to get them to take on this project for me - it was very close to a complete gut of the unit and there was no room in my little place that was untouched including a full kitchen and bath re-do. While I don't recommend trying to renovate during a pandemic, Ivan and John and their team did a great job. I came with some drawings and they worked hard to make sure my vision of a 1970's vibe condo came to life. There were a few little ups and downs - as there always is in any renovation in my experience - but working with Rempel just gave me confidence that things were happening the way they should and that someone was taking care of me and my place. These folks are professionals. Ivan had good recommendations for where to spend and where to save (this was not a "price is no object reno") - and in the end, his estimate was almost down to the penny. Everyone who has seen my condo it is in love with it and so am I.
