Harrison Industrial Contracting - Matt Jordan
First clarification Matt Jordan has recently purchased Harrison Industrial Contracting and we recently purchased a three horse Bison Trailer from him and his wife.
First: Caveat emptor
Caveat emptor is Latin for "Let the buyer beware". Generally, caveat emptor is the contract law principle that controls the sale of real property after the date of closing, but may also apply to sales of other goods.
We are culpable and should have returned the trailer immediately instead of trying to reach a fair discount for the repairs that would be needed to be done to make the trailer road safe! Instead we accepted "Stupidly a $2,500.00 discount." The repairs have now exceeded $7,000.00 and counting...
Second: "Full Disclosure" Matt's favourite catch-all saying that he had made full disclosure in his dealings with us and sadly that did not happen.
Now the facts:
2008 Bison 3 Horse trailer with living quarters
From Matt Jordan, its been used by me and my family has grown and we need a bigger trailer.
Everything is in good mechanical and working order including the fridge, freezer, microwave, kitchen stove, hot water heater, air conditioner, heater, batteries, propane gas system and interior lights.
Roof did not leak or have any leaks ever, the brakes had recently been replaced and were 60% or better and all electrical worked properly.
Matt's wife was continually wiping the floor to keep the water leaks hidden from us.
The brake drums were worn, grooved and exceed their specifications for wear. They had to be replaced. The brakes were worn and way beyond the 60% Matt has said they had for life... All brakes, backing plates, drums and bearing needed to be replaced.
The electrical wiring for the brakes had been torn-out and Mickey Moused back and the brakes failed before we hit the Coquihalla Highway and all braking was on our truck. Dangerous and serioulsy negligent!
We hit a serious rain storm and the trailer was soaked when returned home.
Matt made the comment and alluded that he had made "full disclosure" nothing could be farther from the truth or as one would reasonably expect.
In my opinion, I would not do business with Matt or Harrison Industrial Contracting.
If you do, I would be very careful about doing business with Matt and his company. Everything would be tightly documented with strict QA/QC controls and proper checks and balances in place before signing off and moneys paid.
