We had our roof and eves replaced around 5 years ago by Joe and his crew. So glad he talked me into spraying insulation in the roof while all the boards were off. No more drafts upstairs, never again felt cold after getting out of shower. Last year we were getting a little water in the basement. We called tops and Joe was down the next day. He went up on the roof and found the down pipe clogged. He freed up the blockage and the problem was fixed. I then pointed out that i wished he would have had the upper eve drain directly to the lower eves instead of the rain running drainage over the shingles. I said these shingles will wear faster. Joe said he could change that. I came home the next day and Joe had extended the upper eve drain pipe to the lower eve. Great service and no charge.

I asked Tops Roofing to take a look at the old leaky roof at one of my rental properties. There were two ceiling leaks and I said it would likely require full replacement given its age. They did come on short notice which was great. However 1- they broke my tenant's piece of art worth $233 of which I sent Tops a photo and receipt and never heard anything back and 2- the verbal quote I received was for a reshingling of the roof. I realize it may be "legal" or "to code" to reshingle over one layer however I don't believe it is ever the best recommended solution for longevity and warranty. So now I'm out $233 and needed to scramble for a second quote so I could deal with the leaks sooner rather than later.

Joe and Leonard were amazing. We had some animals in our attic, which the pest control said were just mice. But they weren't...they were squirrels. Joe single handedly got them out of the attic and closed up any areas that they could get in. They were not happy to be locked out! The problem was that there was no venting in our attic, so the heat caused the roof to lift, allowing them access. Then Leonard came out and did the fascia and soffits to vent the attic. When we saw the nests behind the soffits, we decided to also pull out the insulation and add new. They did it all. Their attention to detail was really good, and I felt like I was being taken care of, even when my husband went into the hospital. They worked around our schedule and made sure that everything was safe in the house. It was also nice to have an eagle eye looking at the quality of the previous work. We did not need to replace the roof, but they did replace any wood that wasn't good. Also, when that pesky squirrel tried to come back, Joe came right back to check on his work. Really good work ethic. Okay...1 year later. We had squirrels trying their darndest to get in. Called Joe and he was there within a day! And he gave our roof the once over and saw a few issues that could cause trouble in the future. In less than a week, those issues were resolved...and the areas the squirrels were trying to get in were reinforced. Truly great service...above and beyond!

They did the roof, eaves and fascia on a house in which I purchased. When I called them that the roof was leaking they never returned my calls, finally when I got someone they said they would be out to look at it and they never showed up and this has been going on for years now.....I have the receipts that state that they replaced all the wood under the fascia with new wood which was a lie as the wood that was under is completely rotten and now squirrels have ripped off the fascia and have moved into my attic!!! I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!!!!!!! And I just went and looked at their website and they are registered with the BBB...which I find funny as I called the BBB when I was having these problems with them and they said there was nothing they could do as they were not registered with them??????

When we contacted Tops we were thrilled at how quickly they were able to assess our roofing issue and send someone to do the work! Everything just simply takes longer during Covid, however when it comes to a leak, you need the immediacy and they understood that. When they called us they were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. He was over the next day for the repair and had everything done professionally and quickly. Very happy with the work - he even took pictures and sent them to us so we could get a better look at the work done. I wouldn't think twice to recommend Tops for any home needs!

We contacted Lucy and Joe at Tops Roofing and Siding for a vinyl installation on the front of our house. Joe and Lucy responded very quickly and submitted a written estimate that was very competitive. Joe offered us a seniors discount without us asking for it and suggested changes to our original project which increased our satisfaction in the final result. Work was done well and completed by the date we chose. We would hire TOPS again if we do further renovations and recommend them to our friends.

Had leak in my roof. Called early in the morning and owner (Joe) showed up at my door 2 hours later. He inspected the roof and fixed the problem within 1 hour . Very professional and took the time to make sure the job was done right. I would recommend this company.

VERY customer service orientated and I recommend them highly. Preserving the aesthetic of a 1940's cottage isn't easy with the very different construction styles now common. Lucy seemed to know I wasn't being difficult and appreciated that I was seeking something close to the original clapboard construction in appearance and really came through. She researched and reached out to various suppliers until she found vinyl siding styled as 8" clapboards! Joe made a mission clear out to Scarborough (two sites!) to pick it up. The siding was in place in three days and looks wonderful! It looks like this bungalow cottage was simply refreshed with a new coat of paint, rather than "hey, they just got siding". It's exactly what we had hoped for and better than we dreamed. Major thanks to Lucy and Joe for their work ethic, willingness to go the extra mile, and great attitudes throughout.

I had my roof installed 8 years ago by another roofing company. Due to the severe wind storm this weekend I had alot of damage to my roof. I had a hard time finding a company to come out and wasn't able to get through to Tops Roofing and Siding at first but they returned my call that evening and came out to fix all the damage the day after. Very happy with their work!

This company handled my ongoing issues with other roofing companies in a timely manner. It was getting overwhelming and complicated having to deal with other companies. Tops Roofing came out and simplified the matter. They completed the job in 2 days and used the best architectural shingle. I have not had an issue since, considering all the wind and rain we have had lately. I will also be using them for some home renovations. Would recommend!

Terrible customer service and shady practices! The technician that did my consultation used MY ladder (which is a liability and a potential health and safety risk) because he didn't want to get his off of his truck. I witnessed him pull the flashing so hard it separated from my roof. This now requires me to pay someone to repair the areas he damaged. (This post will be updated with the pictures shortly). Was very angry and standoffish. His analysis of the issue didn't make sense to me. He said that the leak in my garage ceiling was due to pooling water...however I have an angled roof...there's no opportunity for pooling. When I questioned him about this, he got very angry and stood very close to me and aggressively said "Why did you even call me?". As a female alone at the time, I was anxious and asked him to leave because he was making me uncomfortable. He spoke words angrily and went to his truck. I asked him to put my ladder back (it was extended approximately 12 feet up against my roof), he said "get it yourself. Why should I help you?" and drove off. I called and spoke to "Lucy" who I relayed the story to and she responded with "Well there's two sides to every story" and refused to offer any type of "Thank you for your feedback" or "We'll look to resolve our customer service skills" etc. And then just hung up. This experience was disappointing and potentially dangerous. I do not recommend this business. Customer service is a representation of the quality of work a company does and the pride the show in themselves. Clearly this business doesn't care about either of those things.

Great service! After a severe wind storm we lost shingles on our roof. Within hours of calling Joe he was at the house and the roof was fixed promptly. Joe also checked the rest of the roof for damage while he was up there. Very happy with workmanship the shingles are an exact match.

After dealing with another roofing and siding company that never returned my calls we contacted Tops Roofing for an emergency siding repair. Joe came by and fixed the issue very quickly. Excellent customer service. Would recommend them to anyone.

The owner was very pushy and shady. He said after working on the roof I needed to change the baffles. I asked why didn’t he tell me that when he inspected the roof he said we couldn’t know until we take off the shingles. He said it would cost $3000 but he will do it for cash for $1500 so that he doesn’t have to pay tax on it. His explanation didn’t make sense. After researching what that is I asked him to show me the baffles and to take a pic. He bought one set of baffles which cost $5. He said he would “slide the baffle from the top of the roof” baffles are installed from within the attic across the whole roof if you have holes in the bottom of the side of your roof, he said only one is needed or the roof would get too cold. After initialing approving it I said I’d cancel he started to complain about how it cost him lots of money since he can’t return it($5). After reading a comment on the Better Business Bureau same thing happened to someone else. He tried to rip me off. Even after trying to rip me off he started to complain how “it cost him money” which it didn’t. Baffles are nice to have but are not necessary since my townhouse was without them and my neighbour didn’t install them either. He never cleaned the gutters, they were full of shingles and nails even though it was part of contract, he never removed the shingles on the side of the house above my garage and just put shingles on top of shingles saying he can’t do it since it touched the neighbour’s roof. My other neighbour’s roofer managed to change it as his house was similar to mine. I think he was just lazy and didn’t wanna do it. The workers are nice and the person in the phone was pleasant. I felt I was overcharged. Although it was winter I let it slide.

Joe and Lucy delivered as promised, and on budget. This is my 3rd time using Tops Roofing and Siding with different properties I own, and will always continue to use them moving forward. I cannot understand the poor review below, this is not a fair or accurate assessment of who both Joe and Lucy are, and how they operate their business? I strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a roofing company.

Had some damaged siding on side of my house from a bad wind storm. I got a quote from a separate contractor to fix the issue (4 day turnaround from calling to quote), but their fixing method was an entire replacement of siding. Repairing it didn't seem like an option to them. I decided to get another opinion from Tops, which I contacted them Saturday evening. Joe came by the next day (Sunday, today as I write this review) to have a look. Not only was he against replacing this side wall based on the damage and other reasons, he was able to do the repair himself right then and there by fixing the core issue why it buckled. Had a roof done by some 9 years ago and had a horrible experience. They broke my kitchen window in July and it leaked from day 1. Called Tops Roofing and Siding and Joe (the owner) came to my house the next day. Talked to us not at us like some other roofing companies. Roof done from signing of contract to finished in less than 2 weeks. Love it!!! Looks great!! Work was tidy and professional. Roofers kept us up to date on what was going on. Joe delivered. Company would not honour warranty. When called about leaking roof, they were interested in providing quote until they realized that I was making a warranty claim. Following this, they went AWOL and stopped answering calls or emails.

I found that Tops Roofing and Siding was more informative, pointed out a lot of deficiencies and how they would be corrected. They fulfilled the contract and I would recommend them to anyone. I am extremely happy with the work that was done on my roof. The owner Joe, came down to my house to check out the jobs that I needed done. He gave me a quote that I felt was good and very reasonable. He completely restored my 2 skylights with flashing. The job was fantastic. He took careful, professional care of completing this job in a very timely manner. He also did a great job of putting in a bathroom vent in the roof. Furthermore, he went beyond what I asked of him and did some corrections on my roof that were overlooked by the previous roof installers. I highly recommend "Tops Roofing & Siding" . Thank you Joe!!! I decided to add a second story to my house doing all the work myself with the naive intention to shingle it. Time ran out before winter and I decided to hire a roofing company late October to finish what I had started. I have a new baby and every wind/rain storm that blew threw was threatening to destroy the incomplete work I'd done and flood the house. This is the busiest time of year for roofers, and Joe had a crew out to shingle in literally 2 days (compared with weeks for everyone else we contacted) ahead of a big rain storm. His crew did excellent work (speaking as someone with some experience in this space). Overall an amazing experience.
