Had Marshall come to fix some electrical in my house that I had gotten wrong. Was quoted $80 an hour. Initially everything was good. Then was advised that the job was bigger than anticipated. This in itself was fine - I understood the potential for that. However, he was unable to tell me (after being there 1 1/2 hours) whether it would take another 2 hours or another 6 hours. At that point it was easier just to let me go ahead, so I did, against my better judgement. Then the electrician came and told me that he had broken his tool and had to go and get a new one to avoid damaging the ceiling. OK. Comes back an hour later, and tells me that the store he went to did not have the tool that he needed. So, I paid for an hour of time for him to go and not get a tool, and now he was going to have to put extra holes in the ceiling anyway.
Finished the job, took the rest of the day.
I received an invoice the next day, but was billed $100 an hour instead of the $80 quoted. I emailed asking for it to be corrected, which they did (though they did not apologize for the error which was a $200 difference on the bill - the price hike was apparently to account for increases of materials, which doesn't make sense to me since you pay for materials separately).
The terms of the invoice were Net 30, but they repeatedly emailed before that asking when I was going to pay and informing me that my payment was late.
In short, the work was OK, but the business doesn't seem to be run in an organized way. Beware and watch your invoice to ensure that they don't charge you more than they quoted.
