We had a covered front deck rebuilt with composite with aluminium railing. The entire Archadeck NS team was professional and responsive. They delivered a deck that was beyond our expectations and worked with us through all of the little hurdles that inevitably occur along the way. The project did suffer some delays but it is just the new reality when working with the supplies issues brought on by the pandemic. Archadeck communicated the delays and stayed on top of suppliers which is all we can ask. We had the project quoted by a few company and the cost was competitive; composite is expensive but we believe their expertise in installing will make it worth the investment and a good value to us.

We hired Archadeck to redo our back and side decks. We met with Maurice to discuss our plans, materials options, and budget. We wanted to maintain the approximate size of our existing decks, with some modifications to the stairs, ensure that it was extremely safe/well built, and use a composite material. Maurice walked us through the options, proposed a few designs, and we discussed the materials choices. All in all, a painless process. When it came to construction, the team doing the work was at the location on time, did a great job of keeping us up to date on issues, and was excellent with keeping the site clean. They were friendly, courteous, and confidently handled concerns such as rot caused by poor work done by the builder. The project was completed on schedule. The outcome was an extremely solid, beautiful deck that we are very pleased with. I am drawing a blank with the names of the guys who actually did the building, but they were excellent, and I would have no issue recommending archadeck and their team. Thank you.

We contracted with them to remove our old deck and replace it with a new and better one. They were extremely responsive to our needs and any questions along the way. Our need for a reinforced section for our Hot Tub was well-accounted for right away in the design process, and the whole thing was beautifully designed and laid out. On the construction itself, their contractors were great and the work excellent. When there were a few (very minor, but still) post-install issues, they were addressed quickly and efficiently. I will be looking into them for any future work we need for our home.

We had two small projects. A front railing and some changes to our back deck. The planning process was very detailed and responsive. We had some setbacks on scheduling due to the weather but there was good communication about any changes. The quality of the work was good and I like that the project manager came out and inspected the job after the job was finished.

After an initial site visit on June 27 we never received a quote and this despite repeated phone and email inquiries. Now, it is Sept 22, and we decided to wait until next year and go with a competitor. I am disappointed with the follow-up! Hopefully, the company will improve in their customer communication. I cannot comment on the quality of the work.

Our first-contact with Archadeck was the 2019 Halifax Spring Home-Show, where/when we met our very knowledgeable and personable consultant, Laura. Although it took 18 months for my wife and I to figure out exactly what we wanted, Laura never wavered and worked with us to ensure complete pre-construction satisfaction. Demolition and construction started in April and a few shorts weeks later, Phase 1 of our dream backyard was complete. Our assigned carpenter Bob reminded me of my Father and Grandfather, both of whom were professional carpenters; meticulous attention to detail as if he was working at his own home. There’s an old adage that states, “You get what you pay for.”; working with Archadeck is proof positive of that reality. We are absolutely thrilled with the Archadeck process/results and look forward to Phase 2 of our backyard.

We do not recommend Archadeck. We hired Archadeck to renovate our home in the Spring of 2018. Archadeck's business model requires a series of non-refundable deposits, all required to move the process forward. Our experience with Archadeck included: • A non-transparent materials selection process, both as it relates to the sourcing of the materials themselves and regarding their pricing • Major delays in obtaining building permits due to Archadeck's delays in submitting information to the city, with no transparency or communication on this issue until we finally cancelled our contract • The loss of our original project manager and unclear communication as to the transition to a new project manager • Misrepresentations regarding project timelines We lost all confidence and fired Archadeck in the Fall of 2018. No work had even been started on our home. Archadeck refused to return our deposits.

All pre planning was thorough with a high level of communication. They were flexible with a start date change of our request, and arrived ready to go on the scheduled date. The crew worked tirelessly and made sure to do a solid cleanup at the end of each day. They were also positive at all times and respectful of our property. While not at the low price point, you get what you pay for - excellent preparation and quality product, especially given the complicated nature (mudroom attachment) of our project.

My back deck definitely needed to be replaced. I saw Archadeck at a site in my neighbourhood and was intrigued by the style and work at that residence. I wanted a quality deck so I contacted Archadeck to start the process. Within a day Maurice, the owner, contacted me to arrange an appointment. I met with Maurice to discuss my desires, materials and budget. My aim was to retain the approximate size and layout of our existing lower and upper decks. Two weeks later Maurice walked us through a couple of plans that included some modifications, materials that were well within our budget which was an integral component of the project. Maurice produced artist’s concept of a Plan A and Plan B which really impressed me, I knew immediately what my choice was, and a picture is worth a thousand words. I decided to proceed, didn’t need other quotes from competitors. The next step was a visit by Barry, the project Director of Construction to confirm measurements and requirements involved in the actual construction of the deck. Barry was thoroughly professional in every respect in the details leaving nothing to chance or misinterpretation. Throughout the construction Barry was very quick to respond any questions that I had. During the construction I had some concerns about potential damage to my yard as I had just replaced all the sod the previous fall. As my luck would have it heavy equipment would be required to drill the new post holes and/or remove very large boulders hidden from view and didn’t know were there. Barry was able to satisfy my concerns of damage to my lawn by ensuring the excavation team laid down particle board whenever moving heavy equipment in my yard. The actual construction was carried out by Arthur and his most capable assistant. Arthur was the ultimate professional carpenter, his attention detail was ever present thus the quality of his work was readily apparent. He kept me apprised on issues and made a conscious effort in keeping the yard clean. I would be remiss if I didn’t recognize the efforts of Lauren, Construction Coordinator for my project; she was always on top of issues and didn’t hesitate to respond to my many emails. When completed my deck was very solid, well constructed and looked awesome. I would have no issue recommending Archadeck and their team. Thank you. After the final inspection Archadeck was very quick to replace the pieces of wood subject to rot provided by the supplier.

They knew in general what we wanted, but with their experience, presented us with some viable options we would not have considered. After selection, they were able to battle the COVIDS-19 supply issues and once they started, secured all of our materials for decking and railing. Dan did the planning and made a simple deck shine, with some well thought out design ideas. We recently had a new deck designed and built by Archadeck. In doing my research I quickly realized Archadeck is a premium builder. While that sometimes means there may be cheaper alternatives available I learned long ago that one usually gets what they pay for. Ours was clearly a premium experience from the first on site visit until the last screw went in. Thus the high marks for value. The on site visit was just not about taking measurements and gathering technical details. Our Project Developer Dan was very inlcusive with respect to making sure he understood what our thoughts were with respect to budget, design, materials and timing. Finalizing the design in their office with Dan was an impressive part of the process. In our case three alternatives were presented complete with 3D renderings and quotes. After working through the three choices we chose our preferred design, albeit with some changes. The drawings were updated within a few minutes and the quote revised. We signed the deal and left feeling both exicited about the project and with high confidence in the company we had chosen. We did experience some minor delays in getting started, however not outside of my expectations given the effect of Covid-19 on the industry and a few weather related issues. When our carpenter Kevin and his crew arrived on site that feeling of confidence was quicky reinforced. He made clear that his overall objective was to make sure we were competely satisfied with the project. When minor issues came up which they inevitably do, he explained them fully and made sure we were in agreement with any solution he proposed. The quality of his work was first rate and it was a pleasure working with he, Joel, and Cameron. The only somewhat major issue was a footing that was placed in the wrong spot by a sub contractor, but once discovered it was quickly rectified in less than 24 hours. Prior to construction start, communication with Construction Coordinator Lauren, and our Project manager William was both efficient and encouraged on their part. In summary I would highly recommend Archadeck and they will be my first call when considering our next project.
