My house was caving in and it was impossible to get anyone out for a year, because of a COVID backlog. Distressed, I made one last call and found Theo at Songwood contracting. He was the only contractor to interrupt his intensely busy schedule to come from gananoque to have a look. The next day Theo sent two guys out to put in several jacks to secure it until they could get to it, which they figured would be at least eight months. I was so surprised when they were able to squeeze me in in July. I’m not even in their territory but they were willing to help me anyway once they saw the seriousness of it. If anyone is looking for a great company to help you with any job, I would highly recommend Theo and Songwood in a second. It’s the first time I’ve ever given a contractor’s men a tip, but they went above and beyond to do a perfectionist job in every way. In my opinion, Songwood’s pricing is very fair and workmanship is second to none!!!!! Thank you Theo and the boys for everything!!!!!

We used Songwood for the not-so-trivial task of moving our washer and dryer from one side of the house to another. They performed plumbing, ventilation, electrical, drywall, and appliance transfer. The work was explained to us at every step of the way, done as promised, and within the costs carefully outlined in the detailed written quote. Everything was done with the latest accessories and within building codes. We are very happy. Like all contractors they are very busy, and went out of their way to stay on schedule and keep us in the loop.

We had a large backyard project putting in a pool and Songwood was there to build a deck, pool house and garden shed as well as electrical for the pool. Songwood also recommended and effectively managed the fence and gas contractors. Theo was very flexible and worked with us to make the designs “on the fly” and provided many solutions to any design challenge. And we couldn’t be happier with the finished products. But what set Theo apart was his willingness to be involved in the whole project (including supporting me with the pool and other landscape contractors) and help us manage the project. I could easily ask Theo a question about another part of the project (like how long is the fence on one side) and he would know the answer - that’s how involved and caring he was. We had a drywall job that required a total renovation of the living/dining rooms. On the first day, some old electrical wiring was exposed. We contacted Theo and he sent over one of his electricians. Joey was extremely professional and we came up with a plan to remove the old wiring and run in some new. Without the quick response from Theo, we would of held up the drywaller and the painter. Pricing was fair, accurate and quality of work was high end.

Theo and Peter helped us to install a kiln at our business which required electrical work, attaining permits and generally being flexible with our historic building. They were very communicative and helpful and we have been very, very happy with the work they did for us. The main part of the stairs was built of good solid pressure treated lumber, and the last three steps near the river where made of quality concrete cement. Songwood Contracting recently completed a roof and electrical repair to our cottage caused by a fallen tree on the electrical line that pulled the electrical stack through the roof and off the siding. This was a custom job requiring full replacement of the electrical stack and blocking, and repair of the damage to the roof and wood siding. Theo and his team were fantastic! The job was completed to a high standard - particularly impressive was repair of the damaged siding by taking inconspicuous pieces from the back of the cottage (which was replaced by colour-matched board and batten siding) to replace the damaged siding, which is at the front of the cottage - you can't even tell it was ever damaged! Theo was very professional - keeping me up to date with progress and checking in when estimated costs were increasing to discuss. The job was completed in a very timely manner and the overall cost very reasonable. Highly recommended!
