We contracted Fairchild Concrete to put in aggregate front walkway, driveway curbs and back patio. We were building a new house and wanted to use local trades as much as possible. Back patio and front walk developed huge cracks within 8 months. I called George Fairchild right away as all work was under warranty for one year. He refused to honour the warranty. Why??? Because we held back $300 on a $9000 job. Why??? All downspouts were supposed to be buried and all drainage away from the house. Unfortunately nobody ever told George about gravity and that water does not run uphill. As a result we have huge cracks in the front walkway and back patio and have had to redo all drainage lines. Also had to replace downspouts damaged by freezing water that would not drain. Hundreds of dollars in labour and materials. As for the aggregate, no reputable contractor will try and repair as aggregate is impossible to match. If we want it fixed it must be torn out and completely redone. Should also mention that he used stone from the driveway (which had yet to be paved) that had to be replaced as we had a six inch concrete curb to drive over to get in the garage. Lousy workmanship...would not recommend to my worst enemy...avoid at all costs and save yourself the anguish, frustrations, headaches and money caused by dealing with a dishonourable company.

There are many contractors out there so be diligent and do some homework before hiring someone. Ask lots of questions and request previous customers phone #'s. If the contractor did a good job they will be happy to provide !! Referrals are absolutely necessary.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We got a quote from him that was outrageous but declined to have the work done after reading these reviews. I have watched George do work at a neighbours and he is never ever there yet tells the home owner he has been working all day. The man is totally incompetent and a scammer. He has law suits against him and owes customers money for work not completed. BEWARE!

This is the kind of nightmare company and contractor that Mike Holmes talks about. George will not provide you with receipts and consistently is behind and it is always someone else's fault. He will lie to you about when supplies are ordered and when they are to be delivered. I was one of the lucky ones that fired him before the the work was too far advanced. I also learned from other trades about Fairchild's shoddy workmanship and slimy work ethics. If you give him money in advance to pay for supplies you will need to go to small claims court to have your money returned.
