While getting the exterior of our house painted I walked on our roof with our painting contractor. We both noted that a number of ridge caps on the roof needed to be replaced. I contacted Todd at Parker Johnston and he came out to the house right away. He checked things out, suggested replacing the ridge caps and also to do a bit of caulking on the two chimneys and a number of exposed nails on some of our flashings. After a very good estimated price we booked the job with them. I appreciated working with the company to get the work done well and in a timely manner. I would use them again in the future and recommend them to others who need roof work in this area.
Quick to respond to inquiries, provided thorough assessment of required repairs, and a reasonably-priced quote... quickly! Did quality work on-time and on budget. Very happy with on-site work by Neil. Thank you!
Incorrectly installed flashing caused water in my attic, walls, basement, carpets and blisters in my ceiling plaster. They fixed roof and claimed responsibility but so far have not done anything to help with remediation. Not an apology or even a dehumidifier. I have tried to speak with management but just get redirected by office staff. update: currently working with PJ towards resolution
There was an employee driving your Parker Johnston vehicle today and he was Incredibly ride to me- accosted me in my vehicle because the vehicle behind me temporarily blocked Access to a turning lane. My car window was open so he took it out on me even though it had nothing to do with me. Horrible and mean
Excellent service! Highly recommended.
Great ppl make a good team. Thanks
Quality work from Parker Johnston is what I always get. Great company!
Confusing site
We've just completed a major reovation to our store and the Team at Parker were awesome. From the timely manner in which the job was done, to the quality of the work, to their people...it was all what we would expect from a business such as theirs. The most important part about them, is there people. They were all very easy to get a long with while on the job and were all very willing to help out in any extra thing we needed to be done. Great job PJ!!

We Proudly Feature Parker Johnston Industries in the Top 10 Roofing Contractors Category.
My latest experience with Parker Johnston was having my own home roofed by them. Their clean up crew wasn't quite as good as other times, but after a phone call they came back and did a good job. The roofing was done earlier than they had originally said and they got it finished in good time. The job required specialized flashing and they took care of all that as well as flashing skylights and odd little rooves over my doors. It looks absolutely beautiful and I am most pleased. I should qualify this by saying that this is the second roof PJ has done on my own home (two different homes) and I have also used them for a low slope barn roof, and have referred them on about ten jobs where I was the design consultant. They have done, metal, fibreglass, cedar and torch-on for me and my clients and we have all been well pleased. In fact, I've just called Tom again to get a quote for the garage at my place!
I solicited four quotes for re-shingling my house and garage. From the outset, it was clear that Parker Johnston were the most professional of those that provided estimates, and their bid was competitive. They did not attempt to "oversell" me on costly extras, and provided options with regard to the materials that would be used. They began the project when they said they would, and the crew were most competent and professional. The bin delivery and removal were prompt, and the crew thoroughly cleaned up when they were finished. Delighted will all aspects of the job. Wayne Allen Victoria, BC
When they came to quote for our job they said they would start in 2 weeks. We paid our deposit promptly and waited, but had no contact from them. It's now been seven weeks since we paid our deposit, we have no estimated start date and we can't even get them to return our phone calls. UPDATE: They did eventually return our calls, though only when we demanded our deposit back (at which point they sent someone the next day). When they were done, we were displeased to find about 20-or-so nails sticking though our beautiful cedar ceiling. We contacted them and they sent someone by to cut them off, but there is really nothing you can do to nicely repair holes in wood. Since posting this review they have contacted me twice asking me to take it down because they don't like negative feedback, but I see no reason to remove a factually accurate, non-inflationary review. Incidentally, contrary to the response below, during the several weeks we eventually waited for them to start work the weather was unseasonably clear and dry. The excuse we were given at the time (without apology, I might add) was that people were on vacation, though I fail to see how something as predictable as that could put them six weeks behind schedule.
We were extremely pleased with Parker Johnston's professionalism, efficiency, and service quality in completing some repairs and upgrades to our roof. Their installers (Derek and Warren) maintained a consistent schedule to complete the work over 4 consecutive days with no delays or interruption in service, while at the same time taking extra care to protect our newly installed gutters, as well as patio furniture and outdoor appliances. We were also appreciative of how well organized Parker Johnston's installers were, and the fact that they tidied up at the end of each day and did not leave any debris or waste construction materials laying around. Derek's and Warren's attentiveness to customer service and communication was first class as they provided a clear explanation of their planned activities and anticipated progress at the start of each day, and then completed the sequence of activities as planned. They were also surprisingly quiet and did not make any unnecessary noise (i.e. no radios or shouting) in completing the works. We also appreciate Todd Cunningham's advice and recommendations for the repairs that needed to be undertaken, and that the final costs were exactly as quoted. We would definitely recommend using Parker Johnston for any roof repair or installation project.
A few months ago I had my home re-roofed with Parker Johnston after receiving a really good referral from my son. After having several conversations with the manager Brian McDonald (Parker Johnston) and quotes/conversations from five other roofing company's; I made a decision to hire Parker Johnston. I personally feel that a roof is the "MOST" important of all trade jobs for a home. Dealing with Parker Johnston has been the best house repair decision I have made to date. Brian McDonald, acting as the crew manager...is honest, ethical, down to earth, professional and does not dish out any B.S. or double talk. Being a female senior citizen, I've experienced a great deal of both. Brian McDonald followed through in a timely fashion with all matters pertaining to all aspects of our conversations and manages a superb crew. I only spoke to Shaun Mescheder a few times. He manages the crews schedule. I found him to be very timely with his proposed scheduling while working with my concerns about the extreme heat in my area. He took everything into consideration and was prompt in responding to my calls which I really appreciated. The crew showed up as scheduled. I found Shaun to be very professional and was delighted to have my 2nd positive experience with staff management in the roofing process with Parker Johnston. The roofing crew showed up as a pair "Justin and Nick". They planned and started the roofing job. They were so quiet I did not even know they had arrived and were already working on the roof. When I went outside mid morning to see if they had arrived, they were already ripping the old roof off. They worked in-sync so well it was amazing team work to watch. When Justin saw me, he came off the roof and explained the process, answered all of my questions and explained how they would work around the upcoming weather. Ten minutes of his time put my mind to rest throughout the whole process. I was so pleased with how respectful they both were towards myself and my property. I would have both Justin and Nick back in a heartbeat and now "brag" about them to everyone. There was a younger guy "Greg" who did the cleanup behind Justin and Nicks work. He was polite, respectful, very thorough and did a great cleanup job. I did pay about 10% more than some of the other quotes but the quality of the job done/product used and peace of mind throughout the process and afterwards was worth it. The saying "You get what you pay for" is true in this case. One of my most delightful experiences was my rapport with Samantha the receptionist. She was so wonderful at relaying messages, forwarding information to me, and keeping me in the loop with updates. She kept me well informed with the most recent change in events and had such a delightful/professional personality. My roof was completed with a great deal of integrity and looks fantastic...lots of neighbors commenting on it. I'am very pleased and would highly recommend Parker Johnston to everyone. Sincerely, Jane Olberg
Horrible company that throws workers into situations with little to no training. I was expected to do asbestos, tossed a tyvek suit and respirator, given a 2 min max talk of what I had to do and left on my own. I had no idea what I was doing and frankly wondered if I was endangering my health or those around me. Wages are near the bottom too.
"Parker Johnson has recently put a roof on my home. While the work and crew were acceptable there has been no follow up after the job was completed. The crew said they would return to fix several items I was unhappy with, nails protruding through the fascia boards, gutters bent and disconnected and boards that need to be properly reattached. There has not been any contact with anyone at Parker Johnson after the completion of the roof with the exception of a bill in the mail , which has additional unexplained items that have been added.I think when one spends 12000.00 on a new roof you would expect a basic walk around with the homeowner or at the very least a phone call to see if you are happy upon completion. If the aftercare I have received on this roofing job is indicitive of how they will warranty the roof in the future I would have hired another roofing company." check "more photos"
PJ did a roof on an old shed/garage. The plastic tarps, fastened with string were removed and the roof properly done with shingles. The installer had a great work ethic & did a through clean up.The new owners of the property were happy with the results.
I have used them for many jobs and every time the staff, quality and workmanship have been exceptional. They usually are very busy so this tells me they are worth the wait, and they are.
We made our way up to our cabin in early June and were pleasantly surprised to see the boathouse roof (re-roof) and cabin roof (repair - wind storm) done. Thanks Brian
We were contracted by this company to provide drafting services for their Calgary Office, They signed a PO of $2500. We raised invoice for the part payment in June but have not still received it. Now, the guy named Chris Wirsch who dealt with us is refusing to pay the rest of $1600. PLEASE NEVER Work with this company. They are very unprofessional. Never believe them Take the money in advance before you start the work. They find different reasons not to pay you the money. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.
I wish I could not provide any star to them NEVER work them as a Contractor. They get the work done and then don't pay finding reasons to cut off your charges. Very bad pay master. I will never recommend them. REFRAIN working with them. Very poor customer service. So Jennifer from Accounts Payable replied below: We received an invoice from you in the middle of July; a cheque was cut and sent out at the end of August with the rest of our July payables. This is a typical time frame for construction and far in advance of when we ourselves receive payment for the work. When you contacted us on August 28th I relayed this information to you and gave you the option of filling out an EFT form to receive the payment sooner, which you declined, and said were fine to wait for the cheque. Best regards, Jennifer Accounts Payable I am sorry to say Jennifer that you do not know the issue. The issue is not of the part payment of $900 that I might receive in a day or two. The issue is of the rest of the payment out of $2500 for which PO was issued by your Calgary office. Chris Wirsch got the job done from me and then is refusing to pay. Very bad business etiquette. Guys, please DONOT work with this company. They don not pay their contractors after the work is completed.
Every person I had contact with at Parker Johnston were very professional, personable and helpful. It started with Samantha and Keassel on the phone, they were very helpful and warm. I spoke to Todd Cunningham who listened to my concerns with my roof. Then Jack Long came to assess my roof. From the start he was very professional, very thorough and gave me honest feedback. I was so grateful! It turns out that I don't need a new roof, but when I do need a new roof, I won't hesitate to return to Parker Johnston to do the job.
I phoned this company for a quote and never heard back so I followed up with a second voicemail to which they again ignored my request for a quote. I am thankful I never hired these guys because I have heard some horror stories from friends and colleagues since One a friend rented a commercial building that was owned by this company and the roof leaked constantly. They called and called to get the repairs done over many months and it finally took a call to them to ask if they knew of a good roofing company they could call to get the repairs done Other construction crews on my house told me horror stories from other jobs they have been on. Not enough manpower, poor workmanship, struggling to get the job done etc.
Receptionist was very helpful. Called at 8 am with a roof leak and the very pleasant repairman was at the house by 10:30 am on a very busy day. Repair was located and repaired quickly. Thanks for the quick awesome service.
Had them out to quote a repair job. Said they were 6-8 weeks out for repair dates. Said they would call closer to the date or earlier if a spot opened up. Never heard from them. Just another contractor that can't be bothered with customer service. I experienced the same issue with 3 other Victoria area roofers and ended up repairing my roof myself. If you are too busy, I understand, please tell me. Don't waste your time and my time by coming out to quote a repair job that you obviously don't have time to undertake. Edit in response to the company's response: I understand you are busy, but the review was only submitted after waiting 16+ weeks for a call from your office after having been quoted a wait time of 6-8 weeks.
Fantastic customer service and roofers were efficient and clean! We lucked out too and managed to get our roof in just before a very big rain downpour!
This company was recommended to us from a friend so we thought it to be a pretty safe bet. The experience we had was pretty disappointing. First off they were 6 weeks late starting the job. I had to call and email several times asking when they were going to start. Once the work finally commenced, on the first day the two carpenters tore off one whole side of my cedar roof. Unfortunately for us we were not aware that there was a crawl space in the upstairs suite that had no barrier between the cedar shingles and the inside of our home. As a result when the roofers pulled the roof off all of the debris fell into our home. Instead of the roofers halting work once they saw the inside of our home, they continued to pull it off. I had to leave work and spend 5 hours cleaning up the mess. Apparently the company sends out a letter that gives tips and tricks to prepare for a roofing job but unfortunately this did not make it to our home. This is not to say it wasn't sent but we certainly did not receive it. The biggest thing was that the workers did not stop work when they noticed a problem but instead continued to pull the whole side off creating a much bigger mess. The company did not want to take any responsibility for this other than tarping it until the following week. After this incident they came and went sporadically. Never doing work for more than 2 days at a time then disappearing for a couple days. A job that should have only taken 3-5 days took almost 4 weeks. At another point they tore off another area of our roof and then left it for several days without closing it up. We had some weather come through and ended up with a leak through the top suite of our home and into the bathroom of the main level suite. We were told that they would pay for any damage but no one came to assess if there was any. Once the job was complete, we had a leak in our roof that was leaking a ton of water into our main floor suite. This leak was there before the work started and we made them aware of it in hopes that with the roof being redone it would solve the issue. Once the work was done the leak was 3 times worse. We called them several times asking they come take a look. When they finally came they were very helpful in locating what the problem was and said they would be out to do a little more work that should solve the problem. This was about 6 weeks ago, we are still waiting.
