Our experience with Flintstones has been excellent. We have had them around our house to do quite a bit of repair work.We started with a refacing of our fireplace in the living room, the job was done beautifully with a minimum of mess and disruption of our house. Then we moved on to a repair of the brick facing on the front of the house this led to the discovery that the perimeter drains were collapsed. We started the repairs and were told right up front of the price for the first half of the house and that they would check the other half when they could get to it as some digging was required. With each step things were set out very clearly and honestly and the price that was quoted was the price that stayed no up selling or hidden costs. Finally we had 2 new chimneys built and a new brick planter added to the front of the house, again done with expertise and care. All of the on site crews for all of the jobs were polite and skilled. They cleaned up behind themselves and left the site cleaner then they found it. I would recommend this company to anyone who asks and will certainly have them back to do more work should the need arise.

Promised a showpiece... got a disappointment. Poor communication from and among the staff really stood out. One of the first things I was told was that there would always be a representative from Flintstones on site whenever work was being done, because some of the work was being contracted out. This did not happen, starting with day one when the digging began. It was especially frustrating and disappointing that no one was here from Flintstones when the concrete was being poured, which I feel was the most important time to be here. Again, this part was contracted out, to supposedly the best concrete business in town, (as I was promised). I find this hard to believe as I certainly did not see it and the results are proof. I don't know about anyone else, but I do not appreciate being given empty promises by Flintstones, especially with what they charge! And for what they are charging, is it too much to ask that they know about the products they are selling to you? When my drain covers started to rust after the first rain after installation, Flintstones knew nothing about these drain covers they were promoting and selling and had to consult with the manufacturer before they could give me an answer as to what was happening. Wouldn't one of the main priorities of promoting and selling a product be learning about the actual product first?! Flintstones went ahead and did things without consulting me first (an example of poor communication), and then when I complained about it they made it sound like they were doing me a favour not charging me for it (aggregate that was added last minute, that I would NOT have wanted had they bothered to ask me, the poor job done with it is a real eye sore). I have had to let the dirt build up on my driveway to try and hide the mistakes. Dear Mr. De Palma ~ (Wow, you changed your response again... what happened to that long winded, full of excuses response? My review was originally posted a year ago, and you still can't stick to a response. So much for being a man of your word... smh.) The fact that you couldn't even be bothered to take the time to make sure you spelled my name correctly accentuates your unprofessionalism! (My misspelled name has now been edited out... typical.) There was NO recent attempt to contact me... no phone message left or email sent. Why are you (yet again) telling me something that isn't true and continue to make excuses? The last minute aggregate was NEVER discussed with me, and you and your staff were absolutely clueless on the drain covers and how they worked. The two times you came out to "fix" the driveway it only ended up looking worse, so it's not like I didn't give you a chance to redeem yourselves. Do I need to remind you that one of your management staff took a big chunk out of my stairway post and never said anything about it? When I did say something you thought throwing a coat of paint over it would "fix" the problem (and you wonder why I no longer trust you or your team, I think it's understandable why I won't have you back)... I ended up having to fill the hole, sand and repaint the post myself, not to mention all the touch up painting I had to do afterward to cover all the cement splatter. I took your staff out for lunch early in the project... I learned from this and I won't ever be doing that again, in future I will wait until a project is finished as it was just more money wasted. That I am still upset with the job done by your company 3 years later speaks volumes. And I am a little tired of people looking at my driveway and saying things like "What the heck happened here?". Blather on all you like, the fact remains the same ~ you made promises you DID NOT keep. Don't worry, you won't ever be working for me again, as I feel that myself and my project were nothing more than guinea pigs for your company to learn how to do driveways. p.s. I also do not appreciate that you are using photos of my driveway to promote your business without my permission... and why would you want to, the uneven patches of colour are plain to see.

Flintstones is truly a 5-star company! After researching other contractors and then reading all of Flintstones' glowing reviews, I hired them to rebuild the chimney on my 1946 house. Everything you read in these reviews is true: these guys are prompt, courteous, diligent and true to their word. Clayton and Francisco were thorough in their inspection, and showed me lots of photos they had taken of the problem areas (sources of water ingress). They were respectful of my financial stress, and offered various options as to the scope of the work as well as financing, but were also clear in their conviction that the chimney needed to be rebuilt - trying to salvage it was only going to cost me much more (in grief and leaking!) in the long run. The chimney was rebuilt on time and on budget, and the yard was left in perfect condition afterwards. It then came out that my roof was in such poor condition (5 layers of inexpertly installed shingles) that they would not be able to fully guarantee a perfect seal of the new chimney to the old roof without a partial re-roof around the chimney area. Clayton took it upon himself to research roofing options and collect quotes for me from roofing contractors. I eventually decided to invest in a whole new roof, and Clayton coordinated with the roofing company as to how the work would come together for the final seal. I have continued to call on Flintstones for help and advice with next steps in venting and mold-inspecting my newly-roofed crawlspace - Clayton has been amazing in researching options and recommending next steps for me. If you are looking for a contracting company that you can genuinely trust, who have superior people skills and who understand the importance of not only communicating well but also of initiating, following through and following up, then look no further - Flintstones is truly a class act.

Mike da Palma of Flintstones has donated two very well designed and constructed stone markers to Oak Bay. The first is a monument to Lekwungen history and culture on Penzance Road (by the Chinese Cemetery) related to the sacred Sahsima rock on the nearby shore. The second, a recently completed cairn at the View Point, Trafalgar Park, acknowledges the heritage status of the 1906 light house and the 1970 light tower on Trial Island, Tlikwaynung. We are grateful indeed for Mike's generosity.

We undertook a four part project to improve the exterior ‘infrastructure’ of our mid 1940s house: renovation of old perimeter drains; replacement of a rotting, elevated wood deck/stairs with smooth concrete pad & cedar stairs; installation of stone front steps/aluminium railing over top of original concrete steps; wider, more functional driveway. It is a cliché to say a company’s greatest asset is its people but this is what impressed me the most about Flintstones. A suggested upgrade in materials for our hearth allowed us to save significantly on the install labour ending in a more affordable and exquisite final result. We had a decrepit, small, poorly-utilized patio which has high exposure by the front door and wanted one that was low maintenance, semi-private and practical. Flintstones wisely convinced us to have a garden architect design the patio area for us. . . and it resulted in a great, collaborative outcome. Not only did the Flintstones help us with creating spectacular, first-rate concrete and stonework portions of the job, but they were involved in helping us obtain and coordinate the carpentry, electrical, irrigation and gardening aspects as well. What a team! They get great grades!

My first inquiry was met with a very prompt and very professional response. Mike and his team were very thorough in assessing and evaluating potential problems and solutions. Our perimeter drainage system had failed which resulted in water problems around the rear and sides of the house causing concrete - already sitting on loosely packed base - to shift and crack. The drainage system was replaced and new base was properly replaced and compacted with new concrete poured. On top of that, the concrete and the foundation was properly sealed while they had it exposed and the concrete was reinforced with rebar. A lot of steps were taken to ensure that the end product will last a long time. Additionally, after noticing that our staircase was dangerously unstable, they were able to incorporate support pillars into the plans - something that we had overlooked ourselves but are very happy that it was done. Professionalism was exhibited by the crew as well as in the manner they worked. The site was cleaned up after each an every day, showing almost no telltale signs that construction work was in progress when the crew was not there - very tidy. They even made the effort to come by and do additional touch-ups. The quality of work is top-notch. Not only was there a focus on how the end product looked on the surface, but they took steps to ensure that it lasts. Communication was very clear and concise and Mike did a very good job with keeping me up to date on the progress of the project during every step. Most important was that they did everything to give me peace of mind during such a significant project, and to assure that my home was in good hands. Thanks to Mike and the team!

In the middle of a roofing project, we had a call from the roofer explaining that they had exposed seriously degraded brick work around the top of the building, and that it was not structurally sound. I called Mike De Palma from Flintstones as I was driving to the office, and his foreman actually beat me there! But it was the immediate response to our request for an inspection and the thoroughness of our initial consultation that made us decide to work with this company. Originally we were looking to do only the roof of our house. We had different companies come and give us estimates. Cory was the only one that beside the estimate for the roof took the time to notice and point that the chimney was falling apart. He took a video showing how easily he could take bricks out like it was a Jenga game. He explained the problems that having a chimney in this bad of a condition was doing to the inside of the house. I saw a Flintstones lawn sign which is fairly common in my neighborhood that said "Do it once, do it right!" and reached out to them for some drainage and concrete work. 5 years ago I had a concrete guy (company) install a garage slab at another property and it was not level so the garage door had a 1 3/4inch gap at one side. The concrete guy wouldn't answer my calls and return to fix it. I ended up getting the garage door guy to install a metal plate to the garage door to seal the gap, but now the metal plate has cut into the weather stripping and destroyed it on one side. It is just a giant mess. I didn't want to get a half fast job done again and I felt I could count on the Flintstones because of their strong reputation and I was right. Super happy with the job and impressed with the professionalism of the company.

From initial analysis of my old chimney, during which I as able to view the camera results, to estimate, to deciding on form, till construction, it was a thoroughly pleasant experience. The safety setup and protections against roof damage was awesome, and the construction and cleanup left me with a terrific new chimney, pictures that I took, a clean roof and yard, and happy thoughts. At several points along the way, I climbed my own ladder to ask questions, and was given friendly explanations about the various steps and reasons for them. We hired Flintstones to do a chimney rebuild and address drainage issues on our first home. We have a "purchase plus improvements" mortgage, so we had to get quotes for the work well before the closing date. We had emails and phone calls out to numerous companies. Flintstones was the only company to treat us as valued customers, while the other companies we contacted would not give us the time of day (some were even outright rude to us!) Flintstones sent a certified inspector for both jobs. He did a thorough inspection on our perimeter drain system and our chimney. Each inspection was $250, but this payment goes towards the job in the end. The inspection findings were discussed with us in detail, as well as a plan of attack on the jobs along with a quote which is honored on completion. We were able to immediately book a timeline for these jobs. After the possession of our home, the work started right on schedule. The chimney was the first thing to do. The Flintstones crew showed up early each day and had a very professional and safe approach to working on our roof. We were given numerous options for materials and design. We were also given some suggestions for what would look good on our home. Our old chimney was completely dismantled above the roof line and a new chimney was built within a few days. It is very well built and it looks amazing! It's like our home got a new crown. A few months later we had our perimeter drains fixed. Unfortunately there were many new issues uncovered during the dig, which led to a much higher cost. Flintstones suggested a complete system make-over. We were unable to afford this big job, so they devised a plan to do the original job on the one side of the house, while addressing the other problem areas piece by piece. We went over budget on this job but Flintstones was very accommodating in allowing us a little extra time to get the funds in order. In summary, Flintstones Masonry is very professional and easy to work with. They are on-time, transparent, and their communication is second-to-none. Their work is excellent and is guaranteed. They don't overlook the small stuff or skip any steps. All their staff are friendly, polite and fun to talk to. If I could find one fault, it would be that their prices are quite high. But, when you consider the numerous benefits of working with this company, it is all worth it. I would not hesitate to hire Flintstones Masonry in the future.

I had Flintstones come to redo a tile deck that was leaking into a storage room underneath it back in 2011. (The previous job was done many years before and not done by Flintstones.) Mike was very personable, punctual, knowledgeable, and efficient. From start to finish, the work was done on time and there was no change in cost from the initial quote. Three years went by and I noticed water coming into that storage room again. I contacted Mike who recalled the job he had done years before. He was eager to figure out the problem and get it fixed. I had suffered a badly at the hands of another contractor who had walked off the job, leaving me with two dismantled chimneys, when I refused to meet continuing demands for advance payments which were not part of our contract. We have mixed emotions about the completion of our project – it seems so long ago now that we were discussing the design possibilities in our backyard on that cold December day. At night, the space is once again transformed into something magical due to the lights and ambience. We have been to many resorts in our travels and each time we bring home ideas that we had one day hope to incorporate into our dream home. With the help of Flintstones and big Mike’s lighting suggestions, that dream is now a reality. We have been talking about the next phases of design and of course we would love Flintstones to be apart of that. After many years of waiting, I finally have a real home. Having researched several companies, I selected Flintstones to visit and create a proposal to redo the roof, chimney, eaves, and soffits. My confidence with them grew when I met Paul and Mike, instinctively knowing that they are both good and trustworthy. My experience with all of the employees was extremely pleasant, their advice was solid, and now when I gaze upon the rooftop, I smile recalling the camaraderie and loving the design. One year later, an underground pipe burst on the property, requiring repair. This unfortunately occurred on the same day as a family tragedy. Having made a previous connection and relationship with the company, I felt extremely comfortable in leaving all of the details to their discretion. I returned home weeks later. At that time, I decided that I wanted all of the underground pipes replaced. Throughout the entire time of this project, everyone in the Flintstones company treated me, and my property with such care and kindness. They preserved plants that they had thought in my absence I was attached to, built me a temporary bridge with handrails so that I wouldn’t get muddy, and battled on my behalf with strata. When it rains now, I have absolutely no concerns, as I am confident that my house is protected from top to bottom by Flintstones. For our third project, I brought them over to redo all of my walkways, stairs (both wooden and concrete), retaining wall, and driveway. It’s so pretty! They suggested widening the driveway and walkways for my comfort and changed the wall from concrete to a pretty rock wall. I have heard from several neighbours complimenting the workmanship and respect shown for them. When a client hires Flintstones, they are committed. They do not leave until the project is done, unlike many other companies. If you need their help or have a question, they respond immediately. After this was complete we repointed and capped the existing two walls on the remaining two tiers. When the job was completed we were amazed that you could not tell that the original two walls were not completely rebuilt. A couple of hours after calling FLINTSTONES MASONRY like a knight in shiny armor, Michael de Palma arrived. After assessing the situation, explanation of by-law requirements and the technique of raising the landing and steps, he described a choice of stone to complete the project. As the often quoted line from film, Michael had me at HELLO! A couple of days later Michael and Daniel reviewed the plan and with never a moment's hesitation or concern on my side, scheduling was underway. The result is a most stupendous walkway and cordial portal which I relish in comfort! As a contented customer, I requested further work. NEED:Replacement of garden shed. WISH: a grotto. A drawing by Daniel, presented by Michael, accepted by me and Team Flintstones rolled into action soon thereafter! Initially there were two small hiccups which Michael immediately dealt with. Each rotation of crew arrived, amicable and efficient. The result is a unique, marvelous and useful structure with companion grotto both of Mayne Island sandstone. A bit of a story with this one but the bottom line is they do the job right and don’t cut any corners. They re-did our chimney 10 years ago. I vaguely remember at the time they explained how they hooked up a modern pvc drainage system around the chimney into the existing clay pipe system. Well I’m redoing the perimeter drain system around my house and I found their hook-up and remembered them telling me about it. They did it just perfectly and it worked just great for these 10 years. This kind of attention to detail shows a great deal of professionalism. If you’re thinking of hiring them you can be sure they can be trusted. And we’ve enjoyed our chimney a whole lot too!!! I approached Flintstones January 2018, looking for a contractor that could help me plan and execute a secondary suite in my unfinished basement. I spoke with Mike first, then had a conference call with Mike and Rhett. Both were very polite, professional and knowledgeable with this type of work. Ultimately, the guys identified some key aspects of the project which could potentially push the costs way out of my budget. They basically talked me out of doing the job, and I'm very glad they did! Flintstones recently replaced an older, deteriorating chimney for me, and I can only reiterate the many good things others have said about them. In his initial inspection and assessment, Cory was very thorough, taking the time to show me the problems, and explain what needed to be done to resolve them. He was aware the specialized metal roof on my house required treading carefully, and described the measures that would be taken to protect it while work was being done. I was particularly impressed by Flintstones policy that once started, they complete the job without stopping or delaying to work on other projects. For me, this is an important consideration. Preparation and cleanup were done efficiently, with minimal disruption, and work was completed in a timely, competent manner. I am very pleased with my beautiful new chimney. Everyone I dealt with at Flintstones was consistently courteous, accommodating, and professional. Quality does cost, but I am a firm believer in the old adage, “you get what you pay for”. I believe that I got full value for my dollar. I would have no hesitation in using their services again, or recommending them to others. Thank you, Flintstones, for a job well done.
