Embarrassment of a company. They used my shop vac to clean up wet sawdust which ruined it. They were caught cutting corners by the landlord and after 2 years and a couple callbacks, the floor they replaced is still bubbling. I could go on.. I thought these were professionals!

This company did the restoration on my home after some water damage a couple of years ago. It was OUTSTANDING. A couple of months ago, my roof leaked and I called Stuart, who answered the call immediately and was at my house within a couple of hours. He has a wealth of experience and is so genuine in his care and concern for the homeowner. A real gentleman and knight in shining armor. A real rarity in today's world. Thank-you! Downs Construction was hired by our insurance company to come in and fix a water heater leak that went through the walls and ceiling and caused a considerable amount of damage. The ceiling needed to be torn down and replace, the walls had to be dried with industrial dehumidifiers and fans, some electrical work, etc.. The work was estimated at 1 week and in the end took over a month to be completely. Monday to Friday for over 4 weeks we had men in and out of the house. I think we were friendly and hospitable to the workers although almost every evening they left something new was broken or left in an unsuitable condition. In the first week the men were tearing apart parts of the ceiling and walls, when they would leave they had left their black hand prints all over the remaining walls, including a large smear of blood (I don;t know who cuts themselves and wipes it on someones walls). We didn't care or think much of it as we knew the job wasn't finished yet. It remained on the walls right up until the last week (I think week 5) when the painter came in. The black hand marks were never wiped off or the blood and the painter just put primer over the black. Then he painted the walls and ceilings (you can't the the black hand marks anymore) but left the blood. So now you can see a darkened smear under the paint on the wall. It's disgusting. There were many many more problems. They broke our mirror and sink, took weeks to replace and when they finally did our new sink was a third the size of the original. You can barely fit your face in it. The floor was damaged and had to be replaced and somehow the men got paint on our shoes and never cleaned it or even mentioned it. We noticed later on. When the men would leave for the evening and we would notice some of these things and call the project manager to let him know that the mirror is broken now or so on, I feel we were very respectful about it and never rude. He eventually one day made a rude comment back saying that WE always have a problem every time his guys leave. Which I was very offended by. We didn't make the project any harder to complete. We were very compromising. In the end I feel that the workers sent were poorly trained, didn't have the skills for the jobs they were doing and weren't monitored like they should be. They were some more complication that arose after the repairs were complete. But we never bother to report them or have them fixed. Currently our new water heater isn't working as well, something is wrong with it or its inferior because the hot water can barely fill a tub, and when you turn the bathroom fan on you can smell a burning electric smell. A little scary as it could start a fire if ever left on. We try not to use it now. Glad it's over, sorta

Downs did a repair to our new floor after some boards swelled after a leak in our fridge. It was an insurance claim and we expected entire floor to come out, damaged boards replaced and then all put back down. Instead, only the damaged boards were taken out, new boards put down. However, they needed to cut off the tongue and groove and glue the last board down. We were told we would never notice the difference and it was guaranteed for five years. Two years later the boards started to separate at that spot. Downs is blaming the entire span of floor and is denying all responsibility.

We unfortunately experienced a flood situation, it turned out that a waterline to our tap which was located on the rooftop broke and the water ended up coming through the drywall of our ceiling, walls and through the light fixtures. After dealing with the insurance company, Downs Construction Ltd was on it immediately. They dispatched a team and project manager and got things going immediately from setting up fans and humidifiers. They did an over assessment and organized trades to tackle this mess and get the job done. If it was not for Estelle Aitken and Dion Pickles-Teller I think we would have lost it, their support and communication abilities were golden and made dealing with this situation plateable. This past fall, our kitchen floor was inadvertently flooded. In a panic, we called Downs Construction on the basis of their many good reviews. Brendan came to our house, did moisture testing, and gave us helpful instructions on how to mitigate possible damage with dehumidifiers, heaters, and lifting carpets, etc. A week later he returned and did further testing, which confirmed that we had solved our problem thanks to his knowledgable help! When we asked what the bill was for his two visits, he graciously declined payment and went on his way. We highly recommend Downs Constuction, and Brendan in particular. My house was damaged by a car which will be fully covered by ICBC insurance. Downs Construction staff did come to help me to clean the debree of the damages and boarded the house up. However, I have been waiting for Construction company for the solution s how to fix my house more than 4 weeks and no response. I tried to contact the people who is in charge for repairing my house, but no response and just told me that they are waiting for engineering report. I asked for any updates, then no reply. I am very disappointed with the way they handling my requests. I am starting wondering whether I made a right choice using Downs Construction at the first place to handling my insurance claim. It is mid of August and I don't know how long I have to wait. The raining season is coming. I hope my house can be repaired before that.

They’re chronically late, have terrible communication skills, and don’t even show up half the time. I send three emails, and they never respond. I call and leave messages, and they don’t get back to me. I put in a house insurance claim January 2016, they were contracted, and as of October 2017, they still aren’t done fixing a minor issue. I would never use them again. I wouldn’t trust who ever runs Downs to run a lemon aid stand.

I found Brendan (project manager) to be very knowledgeable/professional and I appreciated his timely response/feedback to my e-mails/texts keeping the project on schedule. Brendan's team - Jude (carpenter), DGA Clean Air Services (Gary Osolit and sons) and Interigo Drywall/Paint (David Stone) were also professional, knowledgeable, respectful, on time, friendly, answered all of my questions plus they did a great job!! One of the company's employees was very aggressive, and tail gating me while going down McKenzie ave during high traffic hours. Waving his arms, and honking at me for letting some in front of me. At a red light he came as close as he could get without hitting me and waved his arms and yelling. All while I have a new baby in my back seat. I'm absolutely disgusted by this behaviour. I could only imagine letting such a person into my home to do any repairs would be a terrible experience.

Brendan and his team went above and beyond for my flooring job. My floor had water damage and had to be replaced. From consultation to installation, the team was quick, friendly, and very detailed oriented. They came with dehumidifiers to ensure no mold would grow. At the time of install They took great care in packing up my items and. labeling the boxes. Poor guys even had to shovel snow to get to my door, and one even helped push my car when it got stuck in the snow. After installation (floors look amazing) they had the kindness to put the boxes back in their respective rooms - I even found my hats hung back up in the closet. I had a few issues after install, but they were very quick to come back and make it right. I’ll definitely use them again for any projects in the future, and I highly recommend them for any work you need done!
