I can’t say enough about John Shepherd and his crew at 21° mechanical. We had a very tricky range hood installation over our gas range fireplace in the island in our kitchen. Doug and John made several trips out to be accurate with all measurements and the outcome in our kitchen was fantastic. They are a pleasure to deal with and gave us the best options for home. Their customized hood range is just perfect for our situation. The crew was polite, hardworking and ran a very clean job site. We are looking forward to our next project we discussed. I had been calling around the Comox Valley looking for quotes to swap out my oil furnace for a heat pump. I was being told 2 to 3 months to get a quote! 21 Degrees came by within days, quoted my job, and three weeks later, I had a new heat pump. I could not be happier. The installers were also great. They were very friendly and helpful, and they cleaned up the place after their day. I also have to give a shout-out to the reception - very informative. Doug was very thorough and prompt with quoting on my projects for installing a ductless mini-split 2-head system and a Marathon hot water tank. As I did not want a large heating/AC unit above my bed, he recommended an under window unit which is unobtrusive. The installation crew arrived on time, worked while I was away at work and left my home locked and the site was totally cleaned. Courtenay in the office handled my financing application smoothly and even looked after registering my new heat pump system for the warranty. 21 Degrees installed a mini-split system - AC and Heat in our home. We ordered this immediately after the July heat wave and every HVAC dealer/installer I called was busy until October/Nov 2021. I called 21 Degees and wihin a few days of calling they returned my call, a rep came out and a month later installation was completed. All individuals that we dealt with were very professional and took great care to leave our home clean by vacuuming the areas of installation, laying out runners to walk on etc. They explained the remotes and system programming to both of us and we are very satisfied and would highly recommend 21 Degrees Mechanical.

We chose 21 Degrees to install our ductless heat pump system for our house in Courtenay last year. We were referred to them by a number of friends and now we know why! We wanted good quality equipment, but more importantly we wanted to shop locally, and with a company that looks after their customers well. I could complain that there were a few minor hiccups, but I'd rather applaud everyone at 21 Degrees for handling each challenge with total professionalism. Seriously, what an awesome group of people! We absolutely love our new heat pump system, and of course our lower bills. The service man who did our annual maintenance showed up on time and did a great job too. My husband and I don't hesitate to recommend 21 Degrees to any one, in fact we will be using them again when we build our next home. Two thumbs up!

I do not recommend this company!! The electrician they hired was lazy at the least.. I’ve had multiple electricians I’ve hired since to look at their work and they insist that it is not up to code. I’ve sent emails and phoned numerous times just to receive lip service. At first they agreed with me and wanted to help for more business in my area but quickly changed their tune. Probably when they realized how far I live from them.. They say it’s up to code but no one I show agrees. It’s an outside portion of electrical we’re not armoured and got destroyed by animals. Which in the code clearly states that is the reasoning for the armour is below 5 feet off the ground is to protect against animals. After spending 15000 dollars I expected better support on this. The office ladies are nice but that’s it poor poor service

The 21 Degrees team installed the heat pump/mini-split units and gas fireplace in our home. We could not be more pleased with both the units themselves but also the customer service at 21 Degrees. Both are remarkable - the units are versatile, incredible for the heat wave that came through, and Doug and his team are knowledgeable, helpful and skilled. The installation process was quick and customer service was excellent. The heat pump system is quiet and the indoor units are easy to program. There are many options from heating, to fan, to AC, to dehumidifying. Doug and his team took the time to walk us through the units and have always made themselves available to us for questions. The units are great, but more importantly 21 Degrees made the installation process a positive experience. Highly recommend!

I am beyond happy with my new non-ducted Heat Pump System. I live in a small village on Northern Vancouver Island, and it is often a challenge to find quality service providers. Finding the right system for my home was challenging. I live in a Strata Townhouse Development limiting maximum noise levels for outdoor units and a few other considerations requiring strata approval. Our electrical capacity is only 60 amps! It is my nature to seek multiple quotes for major purchases and in my opinion 21 Degrees offered the best heating solution for my home and offered the best pricing. As special thanks to my sales consultant “Bob”, he was very patient and helpful in finding the right solution for my home. Through each step he was mindful of strata requirements, electrical capacity and providing the optimal system for my home. His knowledgeable, supportive customer service approach, honesty and follow though are greatly appreciated. Bob came to the Village to do a site inspection, provided a detailed quote, consulted on applicable rebates, and answered all my questions. Once the system decision was made, he came again to be sure I was happy with the installation plan. Finally, he over saw the installation. The installing crew were also great, extremely helpful, efficient, and skilled. Thank you, gentlemen! I’ve been enjoying my new heat pump for over a month now. It provides a wonderfully comfortable, even heat and my heating costs have been reduced by more the 50%

I cannot express into words how upset, disappointed, and angry I feel towards 21 Degrees Mechanical. My house was built in 2015, and 21 Degrees was responsible for the installation all the ducting in my house, the hot water on demand, heat pump, and my fireplace. The ducting in my attic was not properly installed (they used vapour barrier tape), and two ducts fell off causing my microwave and one of my bathrooms to vent into my attic. Last year my neighbour approached me(their house was also fitted by 21 Degrees) about the mold in his attic, and asked my husband and I to check ours as well. We discovered extensive mold throughout our attic, and a remediation company had to come in a remove the mold as well as some insulation. Several of the new build houses that 21 degrees worked on had similar issues. The fireplace (also installed by 21 Degrees) did not work for half a year. It was discovered that the tech who installed it did not remove all the shipment packing from the fireplace, and the fireplace could not vent. We eventually had to ask another company to fix our newly installed fireplace. Once again, my fireplace is not working and after consultation with a different company, it was discovered that the fireplace was poorly installed, and as a result the fire shield is now cracked. Due to 21 Degrees' poor work, my family will not have a fireplace for the Christmas season, and we are going to be out over 600 dollars. The same technician that installed my fireplace also installed our hot water on demand. Needless to say for the first couple of months the hot water demand wouldn't work as advertised. Thank god for Google because my husband and I were able to fix it. A part was installed incorrectly. Last winter my husband was rearranging the boxes in our crawlspace, and found a heat vent that was not connected. Go figure! In closing I would never recommend this company to any of my friends or co-workes. They have caused nothing but grief and money for my family. Update Thanks to another company my fireplace now works. Unfortunately, it has been discovered once again that 21 Degrees sucks because now we have to get most of the return ducting replaced in our crawl space. Installed wrong and not big enough!!Estimated to cost 2000.

Last fall we approached various companies to have our 30 year old gas furnace replaced. We decided to go with 21 Degrees and are extremely satisfied with both the quality and efficiency of our furnace. We were very pleased with all the staff particularly with Bob's assessment of our needs and the information he provided regarding the installation of our new furnace. The installation crew were very efficient and provided services in a timely matter. The office staff were very helpful with the rebate process alleviating some of the stress involved. In the winter it was evident the furnace was much more efficient than our previous one and now in the summer we are so happy with the thermostat fan to help keep us cool. We are very much enjoying our new split pump system. Bob and crew were informative, punctual and efficient and able to solve a few wrinkles that came up during the installation. The system has been up and running now for a couple of months and keeping us very comfortable. We are happy to have largely replaced our baseboards and wood heat with these highly efficient Daikin ductless heat pump units. They are an excellent combination with our recently installed 10kW solar system connected with the BC Hydro Net Metering Program. We can stay warm AND watch our power meter run backwards when the sun shines:)

An appointment was set up and after having the electricians in to have the wiring in place his crew installed a heat pump for us. We were initially reticent about to converting our heating from baseboard electric and a wood burning soapstone fireplace to a heat pump, because of noise from neighbours' heat pump systems. But after seeing a "21 Degrees" system function in another home we were sold! Not only is this system quiet outside, it is almost imperceptible from the inside. I love the even heat, the easy programming, the convenience and the clean, green energy factor. I wish that we had converted years ago! Additionally,, government rebates are very attractive these days with the move away from wood and fossil fuels. The system is obviously very cost effective and our ambient home environment is much cleaner. The installation itself was very non-obtrusive and the installer was very professional and informative. In Oct 2016, 21 Degrees Mechanical installed a new Daikin furnace and air conditioner. One month later I called 21 Degrees back as house was heating up very slowly. Furnace only operated on low stage. 21 Degrees reset circuit or limit switch (unsure of correct term), but never indicated the vent piping size was too small (a check recommend in the installation trouble shooting chart). 21 Degrees did the annual inspections for the next two years with no mention that the flue and combustion air venting was inadequate. Finally, in Dec 2019, I contacted another firm to check the furnace as it was not heating the house up quickly. They showed me in the installation manual how the vent piping was inadequate, and this contributed to overheating and the shut down of the second, high stage. I also noticed, after reading the installation manual, that 21 Degrees had made a transition from a 3” pipe to a 2” pipe on the horizontal which is not permitted as it may create a water trap. After this was pointed out to them, 21 Degrees removed the inadequate piping and replace with the correct sized piping. Now, a month later and after six requests, 21 Degrees will not provide me with the service report for the remedial work done.
