TLDR: This company has come, performed half fixes that they charged me full price for, and I’ve then had to get different companies to come and try to fix the jobs that they’ve botched - which has cost me over $1,500. I normally don’t leave bad reviews, but after the experiences we’ve had with this company, I think it’s important to inform others about this. We had used this plumbing company for multiple years, after having received satisfactory service from them the first two times they did work for us. However, the past couple times they have come to fix plumbing problems, the service that we’ve received has been appalling, particularly considering the excellent service we’ve received from other plumbing companies. We called them about 9 months ago to come and replace a tap that was no longer working. They installed the faucet and a couple days ago, the faucet started leaking very badly - so badly that we had to shut the water supply off to our kitchen sink completely. We called them about it because they were the ones who installed the faucet in the first place, one that we assumed would last for at minimum a year. They informed us that they would come and install a new one but that they wouldn’t cover the cost of a new faucet - even though it proved to be defective or installed incorrectly. We had a different company come and fix it and it took them half the time to fix the faucet and told us that there was putty inside the old faucet, and that the faucet that Abe Cohen installed was defective to begin with. We then had to call them about a water leak that we had about 6 months ago (which we wouldn’t have done knowing what we know now). The call was to have a plumber come and diagnose where the water was coming from because it was coming from our service closet and we weren’t sure if it was the air conditioning or washing machine. The plumber came, told us that the water was coming from the air conditioning. He proceeded to open the air conditioning, remove and replace a pipe, and leave. The air conditioning continued to leak, we called them back and they told us that they don’t fix air conditioners…even though the plumber had opened the air conditioning unit and removed pipes. When we had an air conditioning repairperson come and fix the air conditioning, he told us that the plumber had actually made the issue worse and we had to pay for the actual repair PLUS the cost of fixing the extra issue the plumber had caused. When we contacted Abe Cohen about this, they told me that their plumbers “would never open an air conditioning unit” even though they did, wrote it on the bill, and the air conditioning company wrote on THEIR bill that they had to fix the exact thing the plumber billed us for. I called them multiple times to try to come to a resolution, emailed them both bills, and eventually they just stopped calling me back. Overall, this company has not helped us at all, rather I’ve had to pay over $1,500 to FIX the issues that they have caused. To say that I feel taken advantage of is an understatement.

We had a clogged drain in our kitchen sink and we called Abe Cohen Plumbing & Heating after hearing from word of mouth they provided good service. Unfortunately, it took four visits over four months to actually fix the problem. The first plumber who came stayed for 20 minutes and put a product down the drain that unclogged and "fixed" the problem. A week later the problem returned and another plumber came to unclog the drain, warning us that someone else might need to come with a camera if the problem returned. Six weeks passed and the problem returned yet again. We called and made sure to ask that a plumber come with a camera (following the previous plumber's advice). Little did we know that the next plumber came without a camera and told us to replace the air admittance valve under our sink since it was "faulty". Did that, didn't fix the problem. We called and complained and we were informed that we would not be charged for this service as the problem was not resolved. However, we still received a bill for this service a few weeks later. After this third visit, we scheduled another appointment for a plumber but they did not show up on the day of the appointment. We had to wait a month for another plumber to fix the problem (and to bring a camera). The last plumber showed up (without a camera, but said he could fetch one if needed) and eventually fixed the problem after five hours. Now the drain works perfectly fine. (In the end, it was a dead animal or pile of leaves that got caught in the air vent that was causing the blockage). Although we are relieved that the kitchen sink is (finally) working properly, we are extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism and service by this company. From the front office telling us one thing and the plumbers telling us another, along with the fact that one appointment was a no-show (and rescheduled a month later), this company is incredibly disorganized and as a result provides poor service. I would suggest that people look elsewhere if they want to deal with a business that values professionalism and proper service to its customers. Needless to say that these four visits cost us around $2000 for a clogged sink, this is not what is called good value for your money!

Called them , we had a bit of an emergency with water flooding the basement of the house. They promised they'd call us back in the morning to get someone to come out to see....we never got a call. We are a week later now...still nothing. Thanks for nothing. Edit: your passive aggressive response is not at all appreciated. just this unprofessional response will definitely ensure I never use or recommend your services in the future. I have them a different name and number to call back because I'd be at work, so I gave them the info of the person who would be available to be at home at the time. I have the proof of the call in my call logs. I spoke to a woman on December 1st at 8:01pm.

The guy came on time. He didn't do a good job. He was not sure if he fixed the problem. In addition, they double charge for the tools. I was charged 200$ for tools that worthed not more than 50$. I would not call them again. I don't recommend this company. Edit version: I called the company the day after. They sent a man. He siad the problem is from our roof. We got lucky we found a better roof company than yours that told us the truth. So problem was not from the roof finally. we called another plumber company. they found the issue and fixed it with a cheaper price. one point for good work.....lack of 4 for the markup on parts 700% MARKUP 68$ for a 10$ coupling 700% MARKUP 46$ for 2 ft of ABS piping Gratuiitous charge of 29$ for propane, even though it was ABS tubing that was being installed. 1000% markup on ABS glue. 1$ per swab. 400% markup on coupling Overcharged an hour of labour, despite having to help the plumber for the entirely of the installation that took an hour less than what was on the bill, apart from the 30 mins they charge for transport. Plumber used 2 ft of 4" abs pipe for the repair, charged $46 for it, 46$ is the price for 2 FULL LENGTH (8ft) abs pipes. On top of it, the plumber had a short piece of ABS in his truck from a previous job for which the company surely charged the last client for the whole length. So i got charge for 16 ft worth of ABS tubing, when only two feet was used. If they would calculate fairly by length, i should have been charged around 6$ for the abs pipe, not $46, $700 MARKUP, on a portion of an item that has already been paid in full by the previous client needing 4" ABS pipe. Every single time Abe Cohen show up, no matter what material of the piping they are working with, i always get a $15 charge for SSGI ( im guessing an extra welding charge), and a $14 gas Surcharge. Essentially if one of their plumbers pulls out the torch and turns it on, that costs $30, price of a new torch and propane tank. Very strange how the plumber required a gas torch to install ABS piping which is typically glued, and no joke i got charged 1$ per swab of glue!!!!. Im guessing there is at least 50 swabs worth of glue in a container, making the markup somewhere 1000%. This is the first time i have had the bill sent to me from this company, i usually pay and discuss the bill once completed. Because i have dealt with their tendency to be unreasonable with markups, charging for propane when it was not necessary, i was a bit concerned. Upon receiving the bill, my concerns were justified. Abe Cohen has 30 day terms, but sent my grossly overinflated bill 20 days after completing the job. I have used your company many times in the past, but there is only so much gouging a consumer can take before he takes his business elsewhere.

I had to edit my review from five star to three. I had booked an appointment for January 20th, and I was never contacted, and the plumber never showed up. I had to call to ask why. They then contacted me on the 25th saying a plumber was free and could be there within an hour, but it was too last minute for me. They said they'd try again, but they never called me back. I had to call back again at the beginning of February to book another appointment. They said they'd call me back with an appointment, and I have still, 9 days later, not heard anything from them. I originally called them on the 18th of January and I would still be waiting, had I not called another plumber. Waiting half a month is not acceptable, especially with no communication from them. It's a shame because I really appreciated the service given to my mother, but alas, I wasn't so lucky. :( Previous review: Very respectful, friendly and professional. They always contacted us when they had an availability, to make sure our drain problem was addressed as soon as possible, and at a very reasonable price. Thank you for the great service.

I had such a bad experience with this company. They sent a plumber who was very rude and aggressive and nearly destroyed our bathroom. They charged us over 300$ for a change of cartridge which ultimately another plumber came and did the job, charging us $120, taxes in. We were ripped off and more than that, the inconvenience of it all was not worth it even if they did the job for free. At the end, to address this horrible nightmare with this company, they refunded us the cost of the new plumber we hired to fix their job, the refund took about 3 month of back and forth emails and playing phone tag. Horrible experience. Never again.

Do not trust them- they overcharged me by ONE HOUR then pretended that they had advised me that it was my responsibility to pay gor the technician to erive to my house.. in tje end, I got a bill for 256$ for a pipe that was cit and placed a cap on. They charged me over 400$ to connect a new gas stove to an existing gas connection. Thats right. Over 400$ just to connect to existing pipes. This was double the estimate that I was provided. Proceeded to bend the pipe and leave me with a (small) gas leak. I had to call Energir emergency line to have to gas service shut off. Then I waited a whole week without gas for hot water/cooking before the plumber came back to fix the leak (“free of charge” - included in my 400$). The plumber proceeded to insult the technician from Energir who shunned their work and gave them the pink slip (a safety warning). The plumber said SHE (Energir technician) is the one who is the problem because WOMEN dont know anything about plumbing and have no business in this business, and HE never made any mistakes. Continued to get upset and refused to follow up on the pink slip/contact Energir to confirm the repair has been completed. His rudeness and bad attitude were even more unpleasant then dealing with a gas leak. All this is part of their safety protocols. I supposed the owner must have put some sense into him because they sort it out with Energir later (if they hadnt, Energir would shut my service again due to safety concerns. Considering the gross overcharge, the leak, and the misogynist attitude, I will never do any business with this company again.

We had no water in our house all the day yesterday . My wife called for a service .. the tech came and worked for almost an hour with no success and finally left with no fix saying the pipes are frozen outside the house and that we have to call another company that would be able to unfreeze the outside main pipe !!! The bill: 400$ !!!!!! 400$ and no fix ??!!! We really regret using the service of this company !!!! Since I received an answer from the owner, then I will add that we were told that they would charge 105$ / hour and he worked almost an hour so how come the bill is 400$ ?? Very bad expérience, 400$ thrown in the trash !! And finally, you have to advise the client before coming that if the clog is outside the house, you could not fix it .. this is how an honest company should work ! Avoid this company at all price.

These folks sure know what they're doing! I upgraded my bi-energy heating system. I got a newer, more powerful electric boiler to go with my preexisting oil furnace. All the plumbing had to be redone. Abe Cohen P & H Inc. earns my accolades for a masterful job well done.

I would have given a zero rating. We have an outside faucet that is frost-free that is leaking (in -17C weather). I went on their site and they have a picture of an outdoor faucet that's frozen in a block of ice and describe how they will thaw and repair. So this plumber calls be back, says he's going to charge $250 for travel and double for the repair, then he'll break open our wall to install a valve so he can cut the water to the outside faucet. Then he'll come back in the spring to repair it. So I say, 'but your site says you can thaw frozen outside faucets' and he repeats slowly like I'm an idiot, 'I am going to break your wall, install a valve, and come back in the spring to fix it.' Frost-free outdoor faucets don't need a valve. So he's proposing tripling the cost to fix it. I wish I could put negative stars. Oh and the best - he can't commit to when he'll show up. Today, tomorrow...and these guys say they have emergency service. Our water main is turned off... If you want to be treated like an idiot, promised an over-charge with zero commitment to even show up, call Abe Cohen Plumbing & Heating!

Outstanding advice and work on some major jobs, most notably the $20,000 and weeks of hassles we were saved thanks to a senior guy, Michael Roberts, who saw how to fix a broken main drain outside our house for a fraction the price quoted by our regular plumber. And not only did we save a fortune, but Cohen did great work on this job. They excavated only a small area directly over the break, and replaced only the broken section, not the whole pipe as quoted by the other firm. They dug so precisely that our plantings were undamaged and our yard showed none of the usual slump afterwards. And it was all done in a few hours. Other smaller jobs are mostly average in quality, but service is usually quick and courteous. That, plus Roberts’ excellent skills when we have a more complicated problem, makes us loyal customers.

Because to replace the part which is broken is too expensive, so they suggested us to change a new toilet( We bought it back from homedepo.) . Have used A Cohen several times however only use them when no other plumber is available. While their labour rate is within industry norms and their plumbers ok, they will rip you off blind on parts. You will easily pay 50 times the price you'd pay at RONA for the smaller parts and at least 4 times the price on more expensive items. The prices for parts are so ridiculous that even if you negotiate 10-15% discounts with them, you're still being gouged. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere first and only contact them if an absolute emergency, which is what I do.

Knowledgeable technician. On time. Labour rate is standard for the industry. 3 stars because of absurd pricing on parts. Since when a weld is considered a part. A few valves plus a few tees plus a 4 feet of copper came up to almost 250$ offsetting the labor itself. I could of bought all the fittings at Home Depot for less than 50$. Unlikely to do business in the future.

Jeff Cohen was a gentleman on the phone and extremely patient while I did my best to explain the problem we had after our sump pump failed on April 1st. As our pump failed on a holiday, Jeff had to call all of his plumbers who would be willing to come in on their day off. The plumber showed up quickly to our house in Beaconsfield. Gilles the plumber was a true professional who was great with our dog. Not only did Gilles give impeccable service and did great work on Easter Monday, he also cleaned up and left everything better off than we had it in the first place. Given the quotes from other companies, their price was more than reasonable. This is a great family business and I will recommend them without any hesitation. Thank you!

I called this company to do a service for me in y sink in the toilet , i asked the guy over the phone :"how much is it ? " the guys answered me : " it is CAD$ 100 per Hour " , then i think : as i just needed seal a pipe that was leaking behind the sink is impossible take more than one hour in this job . the technician come and started do the job , first he said that there is no leaking but after he started to do something without even talk to me about it . he just change a couple peace of plastic pipes benhind , spend less that an hour , when i asked for the price : he said i have to call by boss , he stay like a 20 minutes inside the car calling and preparing the Bill when he come out , he show a bill of CAD$ 430,00 and then i said but what ? he charge me 2.5 hour of labor and more over than $CAD 100 for some peace of plastic pipes. when i asked him , he said that is charging the transportation , so he charge me over 150 for transportation ... so people run away from them ...

I never thought i would be praising "plumbing". I was in the Resto-Bar Business for years and have had many, way too many experiences. My encounter with Abe Cohen, my first residential i believe, commenced with my Hot Water Heater acting up, the volume of hot water available varying daily. I chose Abe Cohen because i had often seen their vehicles travelling hither and thither and they looked immaculate. (If ALL the Details are Considered Important, odds are i and the service i will be offered will be important as well.) I call Abe Cohen and get Geoff on the first or second ring (Details). I am NOT put on hold and give him my explanation of the situation. Geoff shares all his time with me to try and troubleshoot the possibilities. I truly was expecting to reach a dispatcher who would simply and immediately ask "You want me to send you a service vehicle?" and start the billing clock as soon as it arrived and i would go over the problem ONLY then. Nope, Geoff gave me his time to try and figure it out. (Free Professional Advice...Amazing). So i did what i was told, and, after going through all his "try this" suggestions i was convinced it was the tank. The next day as i tried to determine if it was one of the thermostats that was dead, (My brother-in-laws' idea not Geoff's) sparks flew and all the power went out. So, I Called Geoff, it was past 3 on a Friday, i was grateful that we were in the very long days time of the year in lieu of mid-winter's early darkness. "Shabbat Shalom" i whispered even though i am a devout Agnostic. Geoff immediately started looking for 2 available men. Needed 2 because the stairs that needed to be dealt with and the 60 gallon tank that required carrying. They arrived within the hour and Geoff also called around to find an Electrician who could come late on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. As it turned out, Sean, one of the charmers who came to "save my hot water", the other was Karl, also carrying a bright smile...Anyway Sean pointed out that there must be another 200 amp breaker than the one on the panel since THAT ONE was tripped and would not go back on (which is why i needed an electrician). Sean insisted (he had some time cause i didn't even attach the "drain the tank hose properly" before they arrived so i can save time and money that Geoff also recommended. So Sean said "where's your meter? There must be a breaker on that!" to which i replied "how can that be when many of these meters are outside and accessible to all?" Sean: "Is yours accessible or not?" me: "Not, it is in my neighbours locker downstairs and i have the keys." "Go Look" Sean said. I went down and, as Sean had predicted, there was my meter with the "other" 200 amp breaker that i simply clicked back on and "Voila", that problem solved. Immediately called the electrician back (about ten minutes went by between electrician calling me after Geoff called him to me calling back to cancel the call). The Money i saved on an Electrician's Service Call is thanks to Sean! I have never been known to be brief, i obviously did not start here. Moral of the Story.
