If I could give them zero stars - I WOULD. I called on a Wednesday to get my plumbing fixed (toilet is clogged and my bathroom sink drains slow), they booked me an appointment 8a-1p on Sunday, confirmed that my account was created, how much it would cost, and that the plumber would call before he showed up. I WASTED my whole Sunday to receive no calls, no one to show up with NO EXPLANATION. Once 1p hit, I decided to call and give them the benefit of the doubt to see if something came up and happened and they just forgot to call or email myself. NOPE. When I called I gave my account information, name, appointment time and they just said I didn’t have an account at all. After trying to figure out the confusion - the person on the other end of the phone call tried to ‘create’ a new account for me to book an appointment for another day. I explained that I would not want their services anymore unless they showed up today - then they put me on hold to see what they could do. After a couple minutes on hold the individual took it off and stated that they were having phone problems and confirmed my cellphone number with me to call me back once she could get ahold of someone to come out to my house and resolve this situation, they said it would take about 5-10 minutes for me to receive a call back. IVE BEEN WAITING OVER AN HOUR FOR A CALL BACK. And it’s safe to say that their not calling back at all. I don’t get why they named their company reliance since they’re not reliable at all. I would not recommend this company at all - save your time and GO ELSEWHERE. This is absolutely absurd. UPDATE - I received a call back almost 2 and a half hours after they told me they would call back within 5 to 10 minutes. After I confronted them of why they took so long to get back to me - the individual on the other end of the line had the AUDACITY to tell me that she took another call to help someone else with a problem they were experiencing. WHAT THE HELL. If you go to a grocery store they don't start checking someone out and in the middle of ringing them in, decide to check out the person behind them. AWFUL SERVICE. I do not understand how this company has such a high rating.

I just had a very oversized, very old furnace replaced along with air conditioner. I decided to go down the rental route for ease of budgeting and peace of mind. Tim was my advisor/sales person and he was not only knowledgeable but respectful and explained all the options to me, was open about pricing and helped my find a comfortable price for my budget. The crew came on time and completed the entire job in one day, they explained everything along the way and how the new system works. They showed me the inside of the old furnace as well which was actually frightening to see-it was so full of dirt because the old filter system had never worked properly. I have always used reliance for their furnace protection plans and the service has always been super fast and the guys are skilled and respectful which is why I am comfortable renting a new system with them. I love the peace of mind knowing I never have to worry about things breaking down, I get free filters, maintenance and repairs only a phone call away. It’s easier for me to budget a monthly expense than lay out thousands of dollars at once for installation or future repairs or replacement. Most of all the house is toasty warm, previously the basement was far too hot and the main floor was too cold, the old furnaces cycled on and off constantly. There is a noticeable difference, the main floor is a lot warmer, the basement is cooler and the new furnace is a LOT quieter. I am very happy with my decision, I think the convenience, safety, and peace of mind are worth the money.

I dont know where to start, there were so many issues. I am so very unimpressed, i dont think i can write what all the issues were, only to say, the plumber was absolutly great, thanks Sean. My issues lie with the Gas Fitter. Who had to be told 2and3 times how to do his job. I own my home and for 15 large, i expected good work, from a properly trained individual. He was not! My next step is to phone union gas, and see if his work passes scrutiny.

Had issue with hot water tank not heating. Called reliance and women on phone told me because it's a holiday weekend I couldnt get service till Tuesday. My neighbor Jeff who works for reliance at the end of his shift came over spent an hour on his time and fixed my heater. Reliance went above and beyond to get my water service restored after my hot water tank burst. The shut offs on the old tank were seized so we had to shut the main supply off. He fixed my problem, answered my questions and explained things to me for future reference. However, the woman I spoke to on the phone initially seemed that she needed a lot more training! Not only did she keep asking the same questions twice, she constantly kept putting me on hold. As it was, she was polite; however, her accent was so intense I had to tell her I couldn't understand her a few times. My friends and I are, quite frankly, are very annoyed and upset about constantly calling on companies only to speak to people who don't speak Canadian English. Half of them aren't even in Canada.

I am very disappointed with their service. I have a tenant who's waterheater broke down on June 10th, They are a family of 10. I called immediately to reliance and was given a June 22 appointment. How is a family of 10 supposed to last 12 days without showers. When I called to cancel with reliance I was offered all kinds of incentives to stay with them but they couldn't do any better than the 22nd. Called another company they came out and was able to replace the waterheater on the 15th.( It needed replacing, being over 10 yrs old) They gave me excellent service. Maybe that's something Reliance should work on.

We called Reliance on Sunday after our tankless water heater died. They didn’t send a technician out until Tuesday (which was bad enough) but then told us that it would be another week before we could get a replacement. We paid for the rental for years - for so called peace of mind - but when came time to actually back up their promise, we just got the runaround and no effort to get us back up and running. After 2 days of getting absolutely nowhere, I called Postma in Chatham. Sales rep was at our our house within an hour. And the installers were at our house the next day at 8 am with hot water by noon. If there was an option for O stars I would use that one. 1 star is too generous.

Update June 13th, 2021: Part 2: I am now going into my 3rd month of AC not working since Reliance came to do "routine maintenance" My appointment to have the Evap coil replaced was June 12th 8am - 12pm, it was made on May 28th. On the morning of June 12th I called Reliance and spoke to someone in the Maintenance department they said "Yes you have an appointment booked for 8 - 1 pm today, it's a 5 hour job so you should hear from someone shortly". 11am rolls around, I call back and explain the situation for a 2nd time they say " I see you have an appointment booked but no one is assigned to fulfill the ticket, let me get a hold of that department and get someone assigned" I thank them and say I will call back in an hour. 12:00 Pm rolls around, I call back and am told "There is no one assigned to the ticket, I Promise this will be completed today, please give us 1 more hour" and a second time she says "I promise it will be completed today". 1:00 pm comes, I call back, I am told " the reason they told you to wait an hour, is because they are communicating with the contractor and he is telling them he should be finished his current repair in 1 hour" I responded " I have been told there is no one assigned to the repair, now you are telling me there is someone?". they say "hold on sir I'll check, it looks like no one is assigned to the ticket" I said" it's clear the job will not be completed today, can I just call a local contractor and bill you for the fix" She responds "I wish I could have the authorization to allow that sir, but I can't, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, please just give us 1 more hour" 2:00 pm comes and I call back, at this point I should mention everyone I have spoken to has been extremely nice and easy to talk to. The lady answers and immediately its known this would be a different call than the others, as I know from the other calls my account is open just from the number I am calling from and I just have to give my name, address and phone number to verify. Well this lady makes me painfully spell everything to her and pretends to be typing in the background, then puts me on hold to bring up my account. Whatever... maybe she is having a back day and trying to work to rule or something. I explain I have been waiting all day and every hour I am being told to wait one more hour, Saturday is my only day off this week and I am trapped at home waiting for Reliance to come to an appointment the promised would be completed today. Her response was this "I am sorry sir, but we are in a lock out situation and using private contractors, it looks like it is difficult to find them in your area". I say " reliance locked it's employees out, that is not my problem, I have been a customer since 2007, I am paying for a service I am not receiving." Her response was "I'm sorry, I know it is stressful and you want to enjoy your only day off. What is it you wanted to do today, go to the beach? What time would you leave if you did? I responded " this is a 5 hour job, it is now 2:30pm, just tell me they aren't coming if no one is assigned to the job, I seriously doubt they can complete the job with what is left for time today" She again asks me to wait 1 more hour till 3:30 pm, because she doesn't want me to get to the beach and get a call from the contractor, and me miss my appointment". I ask "should I book another appointment, and can you make this a priority to be completed next week?" She says "we are booking months away, just wait till 3:30pm and pursue any other complaint path you were going to take" -- Ryan

Very poor service. Really frustrated with the experience. I have explained the situation. I have rental water heater at my property. I purchased the new house and moved in 28-Dec-2017. On Monday, 08-Jan-2018 morning I realized there is no hot air neither hot water. I called reliance service department and they kept me on hold for about 30 mins and then informed me that they do not have any record for the site. They transferred me to the billing department and took serial number of the appliance and other details and again transferred to the service department. Again after several minutes of waiting the person gave me appointment on Wednesday .Reference Number# 214208. However I could see there are earlier appointment slot available online. I repeatedly requested the customer service person to try for an earlier time saying that the rental water heater is the primary source of heating for me. But he denied. Knowing that I"ll have no heating and hot water for more than 2 days.

Ron explained everything that was being done and provided a wealth of information on prevention, and any products that would be effective to keep the drain clear. I was contacted by Reliance to schedule our annual system (furnace/AC) maintenance. The technician called ahead of his visit and arrived on time. His review of our system was very thorough and he explained things to me. I expressed interest in what Reliance could offer in way of new AC systems as ours was old and inefficient. He offered to contact a sales rep who could explain available options. He was able to set the appointment for the next day. I was pleased to have the same rep that had helped us select our reverse osmosis water filter system s few months before. He presented all product and payment options and was so pleasant to deal with and was never pushy. He was able to arrange for a next day installation. Again the technicians called ahead of time, explained what they were doing, consulted with me on placement of the AC unit and completed the installation quickly. A new NEST thermostat was installed and the tech gave a great demonstration of how it works. I have relied on Reliance for many HVAC and water filter needs over the last few years. They consistently provide excellent end to end service. The technicians and sales representatives have conducted themselves professionally and were so knowledgeable about their products. I feel confident that we're getting great value for our money. Reliance is providing the type of customer experience that is rarely found these days.

We called Reliance because our hot water heater wasn't working. The Technician(don't know his name) came the same day to fix it. A couple hours after he left, we discovered a leak and had water leaking all over our laundry room. Fortunately, the leak was not related to the first repair. Unfortunately, when we called Reliance, we were told that nobody could come back until the morning. I probably handled that call a little less patiently than I normally would. Despite the fact that Reliance had to listen to us get angry, they still sent their Technician, Dan first thing in the morning. Dan was amazing, corrected the leak right away and discovered that we also had a vent leak. He wanted to take care of it right away so he called in to request permission to repair it. Dan's professionalism, his attention to detail and his obvious concern for his customers were all very obvious. We can't thank him enough for everything he did!

Arranged for service by phone, date given. The day prior received a call to confirm attendance between 7 and 11. 7:15 am call from service tech advising he would be here in 20 minutes. Arrived at the time mentioned. Tim entered the house, put booties over his boots, masked and gloves as required by covis. Assisted in explaining thermostat to me and my wife as we had some minor issues, but explained and corrected. Serviced the furnace and was able to describe the model, location of manufacturing and parent company Napoleon. Then checked the air conditioner explaining it was a older model and could go south at any time but working fine at the moment. He then said a new coil was installed in the furnace which was a positive. He then checked our status for repairs and gave guidance in relation to it replacement parts. This was the most informative inspection we have ever had. He suggested getting a quote for AC and was told we had one last year. In discussion about replacement availability he was able to provide detailed information on all aspects, repair, instillation of a new AC. Top notch HVAC technician. Zero Star. I was extremely disappointed by my experience. Here are my details. ..Sales agent booked the wrong furnace to be installed even after taking measurements. Sent 5 inch filter to be changed once a year but again was not the right size to fit the space. ..Signed me up for a chlorine filtration system but failed to mention it was the size of an oxygen tank and would not fit in my space. ..1st time Technicians came to install the furnace and removed the old one. Scratched up my newly painted laundry room floor and left mud in the room. Installed thermostat upstairs leaving mess all over the floor. . ..BIGGEST ISSUE did not install my piping correctly CAUSING HALF OF MY BASEMENT TO FLOOD. ...They sent a technician to fix it 730pm to 11. He showed up at 11 and left at 11.51. Then proceeded to sit in his truck in my driveway until almost 1am. This is on my security camera. ..The lady on Reliance customer service said to me "Get a mop and start mopping" it might take a day or two. . I spoke to managers from all over the city. About 4 different people and my sales agent was ignoring me the entire time. BIG ISSUE. The INSTALL MANAGER was extremely rude saying " I HAD NO COMMON SENSE I SHOULD HAVE CLEANED UP THE WATER MYSELF" SALES AGENT DISAPPEARED WHEN THIS HAPPENED .......It was to the fault of a bad install that my basement was flooded. My floor ruined and had to be repainted. I had to shut off my water and furnace for 6 hours. Got a cold and was sick. ..I UNDERSTAND STUFF HAPPENS BUT THE END RESULT. I was made to feel horrible by the install manager she told me I should have cleaned it up myself and painted it. I had just had a flooded basement and Insurance just finished doing the work and fixed it. Reliance knew this going in. Only to flood it again.. The WORST was the lack.of empathy from the Manager and the extreme lack of communication from the sales agent who came to my house in helping me through this. ...I'm still awaiting my written new contract. They did promise to give me some credited months towards the furnace. But the total disrespect from that manager and bad treatment was one the the most disgusting things I wish it was on the company recorded service and not there personal number because I would have loved for an upper management to hear that conversation. The water went over the ledge into my water heater area. I did my best to mop and clean even though it wasn't my fault. I shut off the water. I have some pics after I got fed up of cleaning it was alot better now but you get the idea. I wish I could post a video... when are they ever sending me my email with my finalised agreement... This was horrible CUSTOMER SERVICE and THE MANAGER I DEALT with she was very unprofessional in dealing with me. SAYING I HAVE NO COMMON SENSE AFTER THEY FLOODED IT. look at the pictures and picture before i dried it to this state X5 over my ankle in Water!!! The paint lifted and bubbled after this as well.

I had a spoken with a representative Saturday January 6, 2018 from reliance home comfort about getting a service for a water heater that I rent from them. they said that someone would contact me Sunday morning between 8am and 1pm and complete the service call .I waited but no one called or came. After 1:15pm I tried recalling the service number listed on line. I have no issues with the service repair people. They are always very professional and knowledgeable. My issues relate to the business as a whole. Reliance has been our hot water heater rental company for decades and were always responsive to our needs. In recent years, however, it is clear that they no longer have enough service techs to meet the demands of their current customer base. Calling for service with no hot water should not be met with a response that indicates that service will be completed in a few days or, in one instance , a week and a half. Although they did make it in a few days that time.' I will be looking at other options soon as they were unable to make it for the service call at the scheduled time and date arranged.

The people doing the scheduling need some major training. 4 seperate times we tried to get them to come and install a sink. The first time the guy came but they didn't schedule it with near enough time to finish it. So we rescheduled. The day he was supposed to come they forgot to send the work order out to the tech and lied and said he came and knocked and no one was home (spoke to the tech about it and no work order was ever sent) we have now tried 3 more times to get someone to come and each time had a new reason they couldn't come. We have had an issue literally every single time we've tried to use these people.

Donna our rep coordinated the replacement, but it started with her laying out our options and costs (including rebates and eight free months rental) which was a bonus. We had asked for a service call because we had no hot water on Friday. However, when the technician arrived we had hot water.
