After a wind storm in March, our insurance company sent Paul Davis to do the estimate. Our adjuster gave us the option of taking a payout and contracting ourselves or using Paul Davis to do the job. We went with Paul Davis because our agent said the work would be guaranteed and Ray the estimator came across as very knowledgeable.
We have been nothing but disappointed and frustrated since the work began. I realize that other jobs of more importance needed to be done first, but we had a back door that would not shut and lock properly and a roof that was patched until the work could be started.
Once the work began, it was like the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing. The repairs were subcontracted out and the vendors were never given thorough instructions, we would have to show them the estimate and tell them what work needed to be done. Unless we called Ray, we never saw him during the repairs. It was frustrating, because if something was not right, he told us to call the vendors -- WE DID NOT HIRE THEM, HE DID!!
The roofing vendors were mad because they did not know one flat portion of our roof was to be redone - it was on the estimate -- and gave my spouse attitude. We came home to find cigarette butts all over our back yard -- we don't smoke and have grandchildren that play out there.
Stones were brought in to repair our driveway, we found screws and nails and other items in the mix -- they loaded it back up and took it away, but it was just one more day of frustration and making other arrangements because of it.
I signed off today, not because I was satisfied with the repairs, but because I had just had enough -- I did not want to see the vendors or Raymond anymore.
Lesson learned -- hopefully I never have to file another claim, but if I do, I would NEVER have Paul Davis involved in the process.
If the review would have allowed it, I would not have even given one star!!
