We had Blue Lake build a garage for us a couple of years ago, and were very happy with the result. Based on that, we contracted them again to build a wheelchair lift into our deck and renovate our front landscaping. We have had many passersby complement our front yard since, and the lift works perfectly and did not cause anywhere near as much disruption to our deck as we expected - they did a great job of integrating the lift into the existing deck and landscaping.

We had a small inner city yard landscaped this year by Blue Lake. Fab and his team were excellent with their communication speed, ability to bring our design to life and execute what we wanted. There were minimal hiccups in the completion of the work and Fab was very prompt in addressing any issues we had. We had concrete poured, a fence and flower boxes built, and grading and sod put down. All of the crews did an excellent job in a very timely fashion. Once work started, it moved ahead quickly with very little delay. They built a patio with paving stones, a raised flower bed, supplied and installed a natural gas firepit, resodded the yard and planted a few shrubs and a tree. Initial consult and design - 5 star (Designer was very patient with our idea) Material - 4 star (they used what we have picked for) Workmanship - 3.5 (retaining wall - 5; deck - 4; patio - 3; side walk - 2; turf - 4) Customer service - 2 (3 star for site workers, 1 star for management) Schedule - 3 (It took over 1 year to finish. I want to give a 1 but instead 3 as it was a rainy season) Price - 3 star - Reasonable

I discovered Blue Lake from the Home and Garden Show and decided to hire them as it was a one stop shop for our backyard project- garage, deck/fencing, and landscaping. Fab was very helpful as we've put together the layout of our backyard and made reasonable effort to accommodate our custom requests. When shopping around for a full-service contractor for our new yard, Blue Lake’s team stood out immediately with their responsiveness. Within hours of visiting our site, Fab was able to provide a sketch and quote for what would become our new yard, including the fence, patio, and deck. The way the project was managed through the execution phase also stood out. It has been a challenging year for such a project with the weather and construction on the lot beside ours. In spite of the rain clouds, Fab’s experience shone through in the way that these barriers were managed, with the project being completed within what was, in my estimation, the shortest duration possible given the circumstances. We contracted Blue Lake Contracting to extend our existing patio. Our initial thoughts were to extend our current concrete patio with pressure treated wood. When Fab came on-site his experience in this field truly showed and he recommended stamped concrete. Fab was able to quickly put a quote together and we were able to negotiate the best price that made sense for both of us. We hired Fab and his team at Blue lake in April and by mid-May his team was able to complete the project in approximately 1 week. Stamped concrete is not a clean job at all because you have to rip out existing grass, soil, dig etc. Even though this was a messy job, Blue Lake’s team cleaned up very well on the street, in the backyard and was a pleasant site for me and my neighbours as well. Fab’s team was delightful to work with and during the project I saw some changes that I wanted to make and without fuss they quickly changed up the design. Of course, these changes were small in nature however they changed it for us and for me that counts as great service. They are very clean and very professional. Overall, I would use Fab and his team again and if you are looking to do anything from landscaping to basement development, I would truly keep Blue Lake in mind.

Thanks Fab for getting my new home fully landscaped!! I'm an analytical/detail oriented person, so when I leave reviews I like to be thorough and fair indicating what went well, or not. I had Bluelake fully landscape the front, back and sides of my newly built home for virtually maintenance free enjoyment. Back yard: Very satisfied. The back yard is mostly stamped concrete and it looks fabulous. There was a little tension when I was told that they couldn't accomplish the two stamp pattern we had agreed at the beginning would be the design. I told Fab, "if it cannot be done, so be it, I can accept a single stamp but I will be disappointed to not get the two stamp pattern we had discussed." He wasn't satisfied with that and even though I'd signed off on going single stamp, he went the extra mile to go around to all his suppliers and talk about how he could achieve the two stamp pattern as planned. He and his team put in a fair bit of extra effort and totally nailed it. The fire pit area having its own circular stamp design gives the yard real character. Sides of home: Both sides were done exactly as planned/discussed. On one side Fab said to me "we'll probably have extra concrete, do you want an extra pad here on the unused side for storage" and they totally created a very useful storage section within the cost of the original contract. I doubt most landscapers would have done that without jumping the price. On the other side of the house the stamped concrete continues into a path from back to front and it looks awesome. Front yard: Mostly satisfied. I will be honest, it did not come out as planned/envisioned. Very close, but still not as expected. We have a fully rockscaped front yard with a "dry creek bed" surrounded by larger grey Rundle rock. The creek bed border rocks were supposed to be black but Fab tells me there were none to be bought anyway so had to settle for a rainbow rock I don't really care for. Something I wish he'd known about up front. And I'd asked for Black boulders to contrast against the grey Rundle rock and instead received grey boulders with a weird rust color on some sides. It's done very well, don't me wrong - it just isn't the colors I had envisioned - so mostly satisfied. We met Fab at the spring Home and Garden show and afterwards his quotes were detailed and provided in a timely manner, he followed up with us without being pushy and overall his customer service is amazing. All things the other companies we tried to quote with certainly can't say. I could have found cheaper options but I'm certain the results wouldn't have been as good as Bluelake. All in all, the best thing I can say is: knowing what I know now, I would definitely still choose Bluelake if I was to do it again. Thanks Fab!!

We hired Blue Lake Contracting because our deck needed to be replaced as it was falling apart. We ended up getting a huge, beautiful composite deck with aluminum rail. As soon as the plans were agreed upon, the deck project started the next day and was completed at the end of day four. The on-site crew was very professional and they even cleaned up after themselves. The deck turned out to be exactly what we wanted. The crew that came out and did the work we great very friendly and accommodating. We redid a fence and retaining wall. Quote was reasonable and fair. The fence didn't meet the retaining wall when finished so for a small additional fee that was corrected. The only remaining issue now is the gates have significant gaps at the bottom and the dog can actually fit under to get out of the yard in two spots.

I had an experience dealing with blue Lake contracting. It was not positive: repeatedly missed deadlines, poor communication, and a general lack of friendliness. Quality of workmanship on the fence was mediocre. All of these are less severe than the most significant issue, however: angry, intimidating behaviour on the part of the owner: he angrily swore at me. Avoid like the plague: life is too short.

We had contracted Blue Lake to replace front sidewalk, front retaining wall, driveway and rear retaining wall and were extremely disappointed with the results. As discussed with the owner, there were several issues: 1. Front sidewalk needed a few repairs and now still has two small holes that are visible. The sealant does not seem to be even. 2. Patchwork on front retaining wall is also clearly visible. 3. Blue Lake workers required to use our outside water tap to spray concrete as it was being poured due to poor and dry mixture. Tap continued to slowly drip which caused a hole in freshly poured driveway under tap, which Blue Lake repaired. However, white concrete was used for the repair and is clearly visible from the front street. 4. Retaining wall at back cement pad was supposed to be exposed aggregate as per email and written contract. 5. Driveway brushed / broomed - clearly evident that sections were troweled and not brushed because the cement was too dry and not mixed properly. The colour is extremely splotchy and streaky and there are several different colours within the concrete from the same pour. Lots of really rough patches compared to the newly poured driveway next door. 6. The finishing is extremely poor. We were told that the sealant would make it look better. It looks completely unprofessional. 7. Inquired if owner would like some photos to put on your website to advertise the quality of this project by Blue lake. Obviously, no response. 8. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH BLUE LAKE IS THE OWNER/GM IS EXTREMELY CONFRONTATIONAL ONCE A CONTRACT IS SIGNED AND AGREED TO. HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THAT HE WORKS FOR THE CLIENT/CUSTOMER, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. ALSO, HE DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ERRORS OR DOES NOT APOLOGIZE FOR POOR WORKMANSHIP AND PRODUCT. ONCE HE RECEIVES PAYMENT FOR THE PROJECT HE WILL ATTEMPT TO AVOID FOLLOW-UP SERVICE. DO NOT HIRE BLUE LAKE. THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE.

Although there quote was more than the others that we recived we felt the experience they presented was comporting for my wife and I as this was a big investment and wanted to insure we hired the right contractor. The over all experience was very positive from start to finish, dispite being a little slow to get started once it got going things came together quite nicely, we have a safe path way to the front door and a nice over size double garage for our vehicles and personal belongings to store out of the winter elements (good timing with the winter conditions we had) Thank you very much to the Blue Lake team. This past summer I had the priveledge of hiring Blue Lake to complete the landscaping of my home in Cranston. From beginning to end, the process was quite seamless. Although it was only a three day job, the team at Blue Lake worked on the project as if it were their own home! There was a concrete pathway poured leading from the front door to the back yard where a concrete pad was poured leading down from the deck.
