Had an excellent experience with BB, from the time of the quote to the completion of our space. They were extremely timely with their project deadlines, all contractors that were in our home were extremely professional and respectful of our home. They worked closely with us on the design offering input where requested and taking the time to understand what we were looking for. Had a couple hiccups with parts either not being available or faulty and BB responded quickly and efficiently to get things rectified. Would certainly recommend their services to anyone looking to develop more space in their home.

Basement Builders is a reno company that specializes in basement finishing/renovating - and it shows. They're very good at what they do, their picture portfolio shows they can do fancy basements with a wet-bar and home theatre, but we wanted plain/functional basement and they were able to do that for less than the 2 other quotes we had. We had them renovate most of an 1,100 sq foot basement in about 9-10 weeks, with short notice. They did an office/bedroom, den/family room, bathroom, and closed off a storage room and the utility room. Everything looks great, very high quality work, and the subcontractors they use were all very professional. They've clearly done this many times: they have a well thought out process/contract/agreement form, they post signs at the door and lay down floor protector, arranged for us to pick lights, cabinets, paint, flooring, tile, etc at a minimum places (much appreciated!) and were clear about any extra costs. They arranged all inspections, cleaned up after themselves (we were able to move in even before the final vents were in place), walked us through the layout of the walls/electrical/lights/etc and were even able to arrange a dumpster when we couldn't get one on short notice so we could empty the basement. There's a primary contact so you can ask questions or request changes, if you're unsure they are able to make solid recommendations because they've done this many times (several of their suggestions have already paid off). About the only suggestion I would have is: more regular updates, like maybe a weekly email or text saying "here's what we're doing this week..." as sometimes there were periods when no one was there; also when the initial completion date wasn't achievable the earlier we could be told the better (we'd hoped for 8 weeks) so we could make alternate plan. Overall we're very happy, we would use them again.

Don, Brian and the Basement Builders team did a great job of renovating our kitchen and main bathroom. We used them in 2019 to renovate our basement, and reached out to them again for the kitchen and bathroom. Everything was made easy. They are always very responsive from initial quote right the way through to touching up things right at the end of the job. The renovation was about as painless as it could be. They kept us informed on schedule and all the contractors they used are excellent. Things went really well all while dealing with the pandemic as well. We would use them again and recommend them highly… although hopefully that’s all our Reno’s for a while.

We had Basement Builders develop our basement earlier in 2021. Overall, we were satisfied with most of the work done. The project was completed on time and budget. After the job was completed, we had some concerns with the temperature in our basement. We brought them up with Basement Builders but they were not interested in addressing them seriously. We called one of their main competitors and even though we had worked with someone else, they made some good suggestions and agreed to work with us. Even though it cost us more and took longer than planned, we are now very happy with our basement.

The basement builders finished our basement, and from the very beginning I noticed a high attention to detail. I knew exactly what I was getting from the very beginning and there were no surprises. The finished job was better than expected. I've had a few renovations and built a house recently in the past with other companies, and this was a noticeably better experience. Little things come up (as they always would in a large project - we have an older house), and they dealt with the issues quickly and they definitely know what they are doing. Would recommend them!

I was on the hunt for a contractor to finish my walkout basement. I interviewed several people/companies and finally decided to go with the Basement Builders. The reason behind my decision was their prompt replies and professional approach to the project along with a very reasonable price. Their quotation was submitted quickly and on time, and it provided a complete description of the scope of work with time frame. From day 1 I noticed how organized their team and project manager were. Work started a couple of days after accepting the formal quotation and was completed on time as promised. Ben, the project manager, would give me frequent updates on the status of each phase of the project. Their team was polite and courteous. I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional and experienced contractor.

I had a basement developed professionally 10 years ago so I was excited to see what has changed since then. I interviewed several companies and what set Basement Builders apart from the others right away was the speed of service. I received a call back right away (within a day) and my appointment in a week. Don came over and was able to take my list and right then and there turn it into a floorplan incorporating everything my wife and I wanted. Seriously I had drawings right then to look at! I was impressed and then blown further away when I had a quote within the hour...! This was extremely quick but still did my painful due diligence and waited for the other quotes. I won't speak negatively towards the other companies but some had quotes within a day or two and some within a week or two and one never arrived. The process was interactive and comfortable, the first day on the job we were shown the layout chalked onto the floor allowing for a further visual which were were then able to make a few minor adjustments. In a separate meeting the electrical was decided. I loved that it wasn't just off a pre-planned drawing like my other basement was because I could put plugs according to my furniture meaning no extension cords! The End result was better than expected and I'm sure you will agree when you see the pictures on the website... My wife and I cannot thank you enough!

When the temperature outside recently hit -35 C in Calgary we had some challenges with a frozen pipe. Even though our basement was completed months ago they sent a plumber the same day to help us fix the issue! We were able to avoid a burst pipe and have minimal disruption to fix the issue. Looking at their website gave us a really good idea of the breadth of projects that they have executed on and provided lots of ideas we could incorporate into our design. These days it’s hard to find a renovation company that is reliable and provides accurate quotes. These guys were in the mid range for the job estimate among 2 other companies but by far offered the most detailed estimate of all the competition. My wife especially liked the interactive estimate experience allowing us to play around with options in real time and see the cost reflected immediately rather than needing to reach out to them with every possible change we were thinking about. Job was completed on time and the only hiccup was some custom faucets we ordered that had been on backorder from the manufacture. Our project manager Ben responded quickly with alternate options that met my wife’s requirements which got us back on track. I recommend these guys to all my friends and wouldn’t try anyone else. Basement Builders are first rate all the way and professional from start to finish. The initial scope and estimate for our basement remodelling took place within 24 hours of initial contact. Work started within a week and the basement was finished far faster than we ever expected. It was finished quickly, but without compromise in quality. This is an exceptionally well organized company. The timing of the walk through, framing, electrical, drywall, taping, painting, flooring, finishing and cleaning was always a fast follow. Once one was done, the next phase was started and completed shortly thereafter. Their representatives are professional, and the sub-trades are just as good. There were no product or service delays and everything happened on plan and within budget. The finish was exactly how we envisioned the basement. I would recommend them to anyone. We had done a lot of repair/construction projects in the last few years and wanted a turnkey seamless process without the hassle of doing it ourselves or finding a contractor to do it. We met with basement builders and based on the initial meeting it was clear that they were incredibly thorough and made the whole process very easy on the homeowner. The building process was fast, on time, and throughout they were very responsive with any and all concerns that came up. We put in a custom bar, built-ins among other work and they all look perfect. No imperfections anywhere. The work is so clean you couldn't find a mark anywhere it shouldn't be. Follow up afterwards was also great.
