Before we decided to go with Burnaby Blacktop, we got different quotes and advice from other companies as well. The deciding factor to go ahead with Bby blacktop was that our estimator, Eugene, was very professional, punctual, and genuine. This wasn't the cheapest company, but we wanted to get great and reliable work done as we had a lot of problems with getting our water main fixed with a incompetent and rude plumber. Anyhow, we are very happy with the job they have done and as others mentioned, all of their crew were super polite, on time, and worked well. After they finished their job, our driveway had to be refinished as there was a spot where water pooled, so in winter, we had one area with an icy spot. They came back and fixed it, and now all the rain water drains well. We are waiting to get a new drainage cover as it got broken while they were working on it and waiting for the peeling asphalt to be fixed. When we do u-turns on the drive way, the pavement peels from the tire rotation. I'm expecting for them to do another great job fixing this. If you are hesitant about which company to choose, go ahead with Burnaby Blacktop!

Update: Two days after after my initial Google review the BB team was back to finish the job. They did a great job, but it would have been 5/5 stars if it was done in a timely manner. BB said it was delayed due to weather, yet it only rain twice in 30 days, so we're not sure why it took so long to complete. In the end the job was completed and done very well. Original Post: The crew was great! Totally professional. Unfortunately Burnaby Blacktop hasn't sent the crew back to finish the job. Our new speed bumps remain unpainted, the speed limit road painting was never ever done, and the walkway bricks haven't been fully replaced.

(the note below from the owner is false. I have dozens of messages from all the places I was found on social media, indicating that they do in fact know this job. It was a truly bizarre way to handle the situation - instead of rectifying it, there were just a lot of direct messages trying to change my opinion about the work I still look at every day, wondering how it got so bad. The actual solution would have been to fix the issues politely).

Do I recommend Burnaby Blacktop to do your asphalt work? Yes, very much so, but please read the following. I met Eugene of Burnaby Blacktop on Wednesday May 2, 2018 when he came to look at the landscaping around our strata in which we wanted an asphalt ramp installed and asphalt at the entrance to the underground parking. His quote was reasonable and we said we would like this done at the beginning of July, because we were having the roof done throughout June. He agreed to this. Then the Council and I had to consider quotes from two other companies and confirmed with Eugene on May 22nd that we wanted Burnaby Blacktop to do the work. Again, I mentioned that we would like this done at the beginning of July and Eugene again agreed. June came and went and despite phone calls and e-mails to Burnaby Blacktop regarding the start date I did not hear back. On July 5, I received an e-mail that they could come on July 17 to 19, almost three weeks after the promised start date. I acknowledge that companies are busy but I felt that Burnaby Blacktop was remiss in not answering my e-mails and phone calls and delaying the work. When they did arrive on time to do the job the workforce was courteous and efficient. They really did a nice job and the strata council and residents are pleased with their work. My only negative comment is that they should start when promised, and if they're going to be delayed then to keep in touch with clients, and do the work as quickly as possible. I was able to get them to visit and provide a quote shortly after I asked, and they were able pretty quickly schedule us in on a day that worked for us. The work team that showed up was very well equipped and was done work in a couple hours (this included removing and hauling away the brick which sat in the area to be paved). To start, I would not hesitate to recommend these guys, because of the high quality of workmanship and professionalism I experienced in my dealings with their staff. The quoted and final prices were the same, which a appreciated a lot. This job was not straightforward, and I liked that the crew presented and discussed various options to not just replace my old driveway, but to improve its looks and functionality, too. I ended up having a drain installed in front of the garage door, so now I don't get a large puddle there after a good rain. I did experience a couple of minor annoyances. I requested that the crew not start until after 8am, as I have several family members that routinely sleep in during the summer (job was done at the end of June), and to keep some semblance of peace with the neighbours. However, the crew and equipment arrived on my street before 7am, so they could start as soon as the city noise bylaw allowed. Gripe #2: I had decorative concrete curbs installed a few days after the asphalt was laid. The crew was terrific and efficient, and the curbs look awesome. They did leave behind a fair amount of unsightly concrete stains in the fresh blacktop. Gripe #3: This is perhaps the one that bothered me most. A full two months after the job was completed, I was still getting calls from BB, requesting that I complete this Google review of the work they did for me. Well, be careful what you ask for is all I can say. I probably would have given a 5 star review had they not been so pesky.

I normally don’t do reviews, but I think these guys deserve one. I called Burnaby Blacktop for a quote. Rob C was my estimator. Rob came to site, introduced himself and explained what to expect on the day of the installation. Their office sent me an e mail with a quotation and a confirmed date for the install. On the day of the install, the crew arrived on time and introdced themselves and advised what the plan was. The crew was very professional, wearing all the proper PPE ( Personal Protective Equipment/ steel toe boots , high Viz vests etc) the crew got the job done quickly, efficiently and with not one swear word uttered. ( I have young kids). That was rather impressive. The slope and grade were very important to me and Mike from the paving crew ensured I was completely satisfied with the final product. Once complete, Mike tested the slope with a small amount of water to ensure that no puddles would form. BEWARE!!! If I could these guys 0 stars I would. Pretty sure the reviews giving them anything more are fake. These guys are scammers and fraudsters. They took a payment from me to do some paving and concrete work and did not complete the job. They sent some unqualified guys to come do the job. The guys would just stand around and waste time. Very inefficient and cannot meet timelines.They are liars and once they start the job, they tried charging me double. Finally after weeks of not getting anywhere I fired them. Save your self the hassle and stress and go with another company.

Excellent customer service, awesome install quality and all finished in under 16 hours from the time of my first phone call looking for a price! No kidding! Called for a quote at 4:55 yesterday, left a msg with the answering service (I think) left msgs with a total of five different companies, got a call back in under ten minutes from a fellow named Rob. These were the only guys who did actually call back. I gave him the dimensions of what I needed paved, he called me back within five minutes with a very reasonable number, I asked how quick they could get it done, he said he’d try for Friday, this was Wednesday, and that he’d call me back after talking to the crew manager, He called me back about an hour later, now going and seven pm, and said Friday wouldn’t work but if I wanted it at seven am it was possible. Unbelievable! The crew was on time, professional, and did a great job. As they pulled away, job done, I looked at the wife and said “ did that really just happen?” Excellent work guys, kudos

We had detailed discussions about how we envisioned our new driveway and we had expert advice regarding the viability of our plans. From the moment Mike and his crew arrived everything went smoothly, from the old driveway removal and excavation to the gravel and re bar to the forming up for the new concrete, and the pour for the new driveway and steps. The driveway to our garage has a grading problem. Every time we drive into the garage, the front of the car will scrape the driveway. We contacted Burnaby Blacktop Ltd. We drove the car back and forth a few times for C*** to make the assessment. C*** explained to us that there are two ways to repave the driveway. One easier and cheaper way is to just pour another layer of asphalt on top of the existing one. But to fix our problem, they will need to dig out the existing driveway and redo it completely. We said we will go with option 2 because the reason we want to redo the driveway is to fix the grounding issue. He quoted us at $3465. In the contract, it specifies that it is to “re-grade driveway to address grounding out by car when parking.” We paid the deposit (50%) which is $1732.5. They repaved the driveway and ask us to wait 2 days to try the new driveway. On day 3, I tested the driveway. The car still scrapes the driveway exactly as before. If we knew the result was like this, we didn’t need to repave the driveway. We sent burnabyblacktop an email including photos. Another gentleman showed up at our front door ask to see our driveway. We drove our car and showed the grounding. He said he will get back to us. C*** called back. We explained that during the quoting process it was promised to us that the grounding issue will be fixed that’s why we decided to repave. We do not think we need to pay the full price since they did not fix the problem at all. C*** suggested us to pay another $2000 dollars so that they can redo it again with a French drain. We do not want to take the risk again with such amount of money. C*** said we still need to pay the full $3465 otherwise he will send our bill to a collection company.

Do not hire these unprofessional goofs. Someone in my building parked overnight where they needed to work. They decided to have one staff aggressively bang on each unit yelling and swearing at 0730 in the morning. When I opened the door no one was there and same thing had happened to all the units. What a cowardly and unprofessional way to do business.

These guys were great! They are professional, quick estimate, kept me up-to-date on their schedule. It did rain very heavily after they excavated and remove our old concrete driveway, and the ground underneath was soaked and muddy. They did had to put a new layer of gravel and compact the surface afterwards at a reasonable price. After the asphalt paving was done, it was better than expected. The work was completed to my satisfaction however after some time I noticed that rocks were lifting from the newly paved driveway. I contacted them and Arlun Ablas, who is their warranty representative, came by to have a look. The first remedy that was attempted was to seal the driveway which they did. However that did not solve the problem so I contacted them again. Arlun came by again and the decision was made to re-do the driveway. The work was completed on September 8, 2021. This time around, because of the slope of the driveway, a different asphalt mix was used to avoid a repeat of the first incident. The job was completed at no additional cost to me. As a consumer, I am very impressed with the company as they stand behind their work and their warranty. It's refreshing to deal with a company that goes out of their way to make sure that their client is satisfied. I also would like to complement their paving crew as they were very professional and left the premises clean and tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending this company.

Rob C provided a very competitive quote, which we accepted, within a day or two of us calling. We were kept well informed of what date and time the preparation and paving crews were expected to arrive with one exception. When an email arrived to say the crews were arriving to do their work on the Labour Day holiday, it seemed a little odd. Of course they didn't arrive that day but the revised email with the correct day (next day) wasn't sent to us until after the fact. The preparation crew then arrived at the specified time and their work was superb. I was a little concerned about potential water drainage issues but they managed to alleviate my concerns by grading it perfectly.The paving crew arrived in the early afternoon of the same day and again did what appears to be a great job. Overall we're happy with the results. Would recommend.

So far the experience with Burnaby Blacktop has been excellent. We have worked with this company for a few years now. We were referred to them by a commercial high known company based on a Professional and personal recommendation. They equipment was reliable. On this (1) Particular job they came excavated on time, provided a clear explanation of things we needed to consider and options for paving. They returned (on the date we requested) and on time to lay the asphalt .They were careful in all regards, with no damage to recent landscaping and attention to proper drainage and a providing a nice finish. Had the driveway sealed, they repaired some holes and filled some cracks. One of the larger cracks was improperly filled the 1st time. I sent Eugene an email with some pictures and with in a week they redid the whole job, refilled the cracks with a different material and resealed the driveway. A great crew all around.
