We met Nathan and Julie at our uncles residence in Brockville. They were both very respectful of the fact that at least two of us were at high risk of infection for the COVID-19 virus and maintained all safety protocols during each visit. They very quickly established a rapport with our uncles that put them immediately at ease and removed any potential anxiety on their part regarding strangers coming into their home.
Nathan and Julie also maintained excellent oversight of the subcontractors that were necessary to complete the job and ensured that they delivered their services with a unified brand, maintaining impeccable professional standards throughout the entire process.
By this point, they had already exceeded my expectations. Then, they went a step further. In the course of getting to know our uncles, they learned about the recent loss of their beloved dog. They were devastated by her untimely passing and still feeling a great deal of sadness. When Julie next showed up to begin work on the bathroom, she brought along their family dog and asked the uncles if they would be willing to look after him for the day.
The look on their faces was one of sheer joy and exhilaration. They genuinely appeared 20 years younger. This was an incredibly thoughtful gesture on Julie’s part that provided the uncles with an essential distraction from the stress of the work and noise which, in the end, was nothing less than a virtual form of pet therapy.
Now, as to the finished product and quality of work performed, I can tell you that in all of my years of experience it has been a very long time since I have encountered this level of attention to detail.
We planned to have the entire floor re-tiled, including a tiled baseboard. I had agreed to remove the vanity before they began work and replace it after the floor was finished. They volunteered to replace the vanity for me in order to save me another trip from Ottawa. In doing so, they discovered that the design of the vanity would conflict with the baseboard. So, being the professionals they are, they custom fit the tile baseboard and aluminum cap around the base of the vanity creating an absolutely seamless result. A custom alteration, I might add, at no additional cost.
Another detail appeared at the top of the shower enclosure. Very few old homes are level or square. This fact becomes obvious when you apply a rigid grid like tile to the wall. This was the case here as well and left a long, thinly tapered triangle above the last row of tiles.
Most contractors, in my experience, would simply fill this gap with grout or similar material. Instead, Nathan and his crew cut some of the most finely angled tile I’ve ever seen and filled that gap for a very professional finish.

By the time the invoice arrived, I was prepared to happily absorb any increase to the estimated costs based on the outstanding level of service and quality of product produced. So it was with considerable confusion that I read through the entire invoice only to discover that the final cost was actually less than what was quoted in the original estimate. In all my experience, that has never happened.
I simply asked Nathan and Julie how it was possible to price the job lower than your estimate, especially when so many little extras were added. They explained that they found sale prices on much of the material and supplies required and, rather than just increasing their own margins, they insist upon passing these savings to their clients.
Needless to say, Professional Tile Installations and their affiliates have more than exceeded my expectations, and that was already a high bar. But after taking everything into consideration over the course of this renovation, I am prepared to assert that Nathan and Julie are more than just exemplary craftspeople. They are role models for how all business ventures should conduct themselves—by building trust in their brand through a commitment to impeccable standards and a level of service that positively alters the public’s perception of the industry.
