Vancouver General Contractors recently completed a partial renovation of a condo, including upgrading a walking closet, and the master bedroom washroom, removing pop-corn ceiling and replacing the light fixtures. Overall, the project was on time and of high quality. Shwan, Zaineb, Ravi and the contractors involved in our renovation were all really responsive and professional throughout the project. They offered detailed plans, options for the design, including advice on different combinations and through their network of suppliers, they secured competitive prices for all the materials. We appreciated their enthusiasm, timely communication and regular status updates (using the BuildTrend app to post copies of all documents, photos, etc.) which made is extremely easy to track progress, approve change orders and invoices and stay connected. We are really satisfied with VGC and would highly recommend them for renovation projects. We certainly intend to work with them on future projects.

I initially questioned the price, but came around when I saw how they work. They are ‘measure-twice, cut once’ people, who take their work seriously. This was a full remodel of our home that included knocking down most of the downstairs wall and redoing the entire floor plan. They were courteous when I wanted to tour the work being done, and I saw skilled work being done every time. It’s been finished now for a week and I still haven’t found a single thing below my standards.

I hired VANCOUVER General Contractors to build a 1600 square feet extension to our house We faced a lot of difficulties from the City of VANCOUVER to approve our plans with all their restrictions. VANCOUVER General Contractors managed to provide the permits which has taken 18 months because I had hired an outside designer rather than using VGCs design team, which would of saved us tons of time and money. At the end of days we are very happy with the final result. I would recommend them with all our hearts , the team was always there for us and provided great service.

It was easy and efficient using their materials “library” to choose colours and finishes. VGC’s after sales service has to be the best in the business. I had been dreaming how I wanted my kitchen to look for years. I live in a traditional house which was built in the 80’s. As you can imagine, the old-style cabinets with corner units that you need to crawl in to reach to the back, no dish washer, limited counter spaces, nonfunctional kitchen flow when you cook ………. Thanks to VGC (Vancouver General Contractor), our long-waited dream kitchen was finally completed in December 2020. Also wanted to give thumbs up to their designer Hoda throughout our project. Our kitchen looks amazing, contemporary, bright, functional and I have received a lot of good compliments from my family and friends on my NEW kitchen. Huge THANK YOU to Hoda for her hard work to guide us through all the roadblocks, timely communication, responsiveness and always available when we needed her presence for assistance. She provided her professional design sense to transform our traditional kitchen into a beautiful modern kitchen to our family. Also, we would like to THANK Ravi, our project manager, for his assistance / professionalism to manage all the tradespeople and contractors in the last 4 months and deliver our kitchen to us right before the New Year! We cannot leave without saying thanks to Shwan, our consultant, to bring Hoda and Ravi to our kitchen project so we can enjoy for many years to come.

The work involved gutting the kitchen entirely and replacing almost everything. I had the plans in place when we began, so I didn’t bother taking advantage of their design services. I can say however, the project management and quality of work was top notch. My designs were followed very closely, and improved upon whenever minor conflicts came into play. I like that they hired people who knew what they were doing to handle the exposed scaffolding I wanted, because they were able to give me great advice on getting the exact look I wanted.

We chose VCG to renovate two bathrooms in our downtown condo because they offered both design and construction services with a well-defined process. We encountered some confusion about the costs during the initial quotation and statement of work phase of the project, but these were resolved and once the actual work was able to proceed after a long Covid delay, we were very pleased with how smoothly the renovation proceeded. Our designer, Hoda, was very helpful in guiding us through material selection and suggesting options that matched our preferences. She was also very diligent at finding suitable alternatives when our selections became unavailable from the suppliers. Our project manager, Ravi, was very responsive to our requests and despite some unforeseen issues, the project was completed ahead of schedule. The primary sub-contractor that VCG selected was also very knowledgeable and accommodating. Overall, we are pleased with the outcome and would recommend VCG to others looking for a company to do both the design and construction aspects of a renovation project.

As all busy Vancouverites i am constantly challenged by time and the thought of trying to manage our home renovation project basically resulted in lots of delays from my side. Then i came across VGC who provided the smoothest project management ive ever experienced. I found the customer support excellent and any time i had a question i received an answer promptly. The way they delt with me was old school in terms of the face to face dealings which i prefer however VGC have seamlessly integrated and leveraged technology where i would received project notifications and it made change management a breeze. Hats off to a great company that meets project timelines and exceeds expectations with regards to the finish. I highly recommend the VGC team.

A quick google shows that Monty Elsabbagh, also 5 stars, is brother's to a former director of the company. This company is an absolute scam. If you want an idea of how bad the typical renovation is, look to the length that real reviewers (1 star) will go to to warn you like waiting two years, and using pseudonyms.

We've recently had our ancient kitchen redo with the help of VGC and it turned out great. Ali was our PM was always available via text or call when we had questions or requires an update. We had some unexpected issues with other subcontractors that Ali and his team dealt with in a very professional matter. Ali is also very detail oriented and found all the little things we would have missed during the entire process. Victor out contractor was amazing. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was completely okay with allowing our dog and cat run around as he worked. He was very creative in solving any problems that arise. One issue we had was the design process, it was a bit chaotic and things were missed. I'd suggest people be more thorough during this stage to make sure everything you expected is covered. Overall excellent work.

The most unprofessional and unaccountable company I have encountered. Not one piece of their work was done correctly. At no point were they able to fulfill their role as a general contractor. Their project manager was nonexistent, their trades either didn't show up or didn't know what they were supposed to do. They damaged every new item, left unfinished work repeatedly to the point I am just going to have another contractor repair the absolute horrible job they did. Use this company at your own risk.

April 25, 2020 After considering various alternatives, we chose Vancouver General Contractors to turn our dark and dated open concept first floor into a light, bright, modern open plan living masterpiece! It is simply splendid. From our first meeting with Shwan, the Project Consultant, when we discussed our vision, to the end of the project, we were part of all the decisions on everything that needed to be done. We were consulted extensively by Rose, Hoda and the Head Designer Zaineb. They listened and delivered. It was a big project with new floors, cabinets, huge pantry, fireplace, powder room, live wall, new doors and so many other details. The Head Designer, who we absolutely love, Zaineb Al-Saffar was on top of everything -- a great asset to have when we needed any communication with any concerns or questions. She worked very closely with both of us and with her Chief Contractor Mo; Mo was in charge of overseeing the whole project. Mo is great, knows his job, and is quite a perfectionist. A pleasure to work with. Central to the team, Ash and Sarah were absolutely perfect. Renovating our place like no others and recommending solutions to our concerns. The kitchen cabinets and the sitting benches by the window are splendid! Madan Mohan, from Danma Cabinets here in the lower mainland, designed and installed the kitchen and dining room. Excellent workmanship and professionalism. He responded with respect and agreement when we needed to have features corrected. He stands behind his product and workmanship!, The quality of product and workmanship by Canadian Countertops is undeniable; both the kitchen counters, backsplash and fireplace surrounding are perfect. Because of Covid-19, the live wall has not yet been delivered and installed, but this will be done as soon as health restrictions are lifted. Overall, Vancouver General Contractors has delivered well beyond our expectations and we marvel every day at how our home has been transformed. The team was professional, hardworking and produced a high standard of work. Also, I cannot sing high enough praises of Zaineb and Mo, who helped us through the whole process. We highly recommend Vancouver General Contractors!! In fact, we have hired them again to renovate our old bathroom upstairs… the design and material are state of art and it is going to be gorgeous! We hired VGC to renovate our bathroom and kitchen countertops 3 years back. I wanted to wait until our 2 year warranty was done before giving them an honest review. For an easier read I'm only going to hit on the key points. I love our bathroom but working with VGC was the worst experience. From start to finish we struggled communicating with our designer and project manager. For example, my project manager would set up an onsite meeting with the trades and nobody would show up but me. The tradesmen they hired FLOODED OUR HOME, leading to a lengthy INSURANCE BATTLE and RESTORATION. About 6 months after our renovation was complete, we started receiving complaints from the unit below of more water damage. It turns out our shower walls and tiles were not installed properly. We had to demo our new bathroom walls and GO BACK TO STUDS. The tradesman who did the reno of the reno did a great job. However!.. We reported the issue at the very beginning of that year and stressed how this had to be done in a somewhat timely fashion as we had a BABY ON THE WAY. VGC didn't start work until the middle of March. This was just days after our daughter was born.

All these 5 star reviews are complete lies. If you speak directly to a client who has used VGC, they will not give 5 stars. These are friends and family of the owner, Hussein. He quotes rates and timelines to get the business and then once all contracts are signed, nothing happens. He did reno for us in Kits at W. Broadway and Blenheim, 2 months of lies "waiting for permits" when we signed the contract w them 4 months prior. We were not living in the city so I was shocked to see nothing had happened when we returned in two months to check on progress. There was no progress. It was delayed and half ass work, I had to be the Project Manager and constantly be on them to get the work done. And this was a small reno. Without speaking to us our friends also used VGC, this was a full house reno at Waterloo and W. 3rd, the whole process was late, delays, lies and poor workmanship, again our friends had to Project Manage their own renovation after paying tens of thousands of dollars to this poorly run company. It was only when they were telling the nightmare they were dealing with it sounded just like our experience with VGC. If they had asked us, we would never have told them to use VGC. DO NOT USE, I promise you they will let you down and the stress is just not worth it. They will say and quote whatever they need to to get the business and then proceed to screw over the client with unmet deadlines, poor attention to detail and simply no regard for customers time or money. The below 5 star reviews are complete bullsh*t. They are friends of the owner. Feel free to PM me if you want specific details on ours or our friends renovating nightmare with this company. I repeat, DO NOT USE, would NEVER recommend them. Hussein, stop with your BS, like you BS potential clients to get the business. My friends are not happy or satisfied with the work because of the money they spent and the lack of workmanship shown. That’s why when you went back 3 months later to ask to take pictures of the half ass work you did there they denied you, you’ve asked them on more than one occasion to use their house for your marketing they’ve denied you everytime. To this day, there are still cracks in The crown moulding, floors are uneven, and other details around the house that’s simply weren’t at a “finished” state. Why don’t you have pictures of all the extensive “work” you did in their home, if it was so good and they were so happy they would’ve gladly allowed you to use their home for your marketing, they understand what ethical and good business relationships are. Something you don’t understand. Also its worth mentioning to anyone considering VGC, be prepared to be your own project manager because my gf had to go the worksite EVERYDAY to make sure that workers were onsite and working and they had to have weekly meetings with Hussein to go over the work that was done and the work to be done, because there was such a lack of confidence in VGCs work (or lack thereof). So if you’re going to use this horribly run company make sure you set aside extra time, money and stress from your life to make sure VGC does the job you’re already paying them tens of thousands of dollars to do. Save your condescending irrelevant response Hussein, it’s all BS and slowly ppl are finding out. Get it together and stop lying to clients. I heard about Vancouver General Contractors through online, I was surprised and impressed that I received same day call from GM Hussain. I liked the whole process from design stage to construction everything went so smooth, I loved working with the creative interior designer Zaineb who I gave her a 5 stars in the previous survey. The construction process was a nice experience with VGC team and Arnie tried his best to keep the place good as I was staying there through the Reno. Definitely I recommend VGC

My wife and I were looking to renovate our garage. We met with a few contractors until we met VGC. We really like their design to built process as it would help us figure out what we needed to do and how to maximize our storage needs, so we decided to move forward with them. We really enjoyed the design stage because we got a chance to see the end results in 3D, which made making decisions a lot easier. During the renovation process we ran into a few issues, but the team at VGC was always there when we needed then and resolved any issues that came up. We love the end results and really enjoyed working with VGC. If you are looking to do a renovation we would recommend meeting with VGC and seeing how they can help you like they helped us. My sister hired these guys to do a simple bathroom reno and what a disaster. They took 6 weeks longer than promised and used a bunch of crappy home depot fixtures while telling her these were all premium items. Do not recommend them and would warn all others against considering them.

This review is comes nearly six months after VGC finally completed our renovations project. It has taken me as long as it has to write this review because every time I sit to write something, I get so angry. We do not recommend VGC. We hired VGC in November 2016 to turn a storage room into a second bathroom and update the existing bathroom. They told us that total amount of time from start to finish was three months for the project. It took VGC nine months to finish a three-month project, once they started. We signed a contract with VGC for our renovations in November 2016 and the final deficiencies were not completed in January 2018. When we complained about delay, VGC told us that we didn't understand the contracting industry and that they encountered unforeseen issues with the building. The irony of VGC's comments to our complaints was that they had the building plans from the moment we signed on with them. I went to municipal office and got the building plans in order to save time and money. In the end, my initiative did not save me time or money. A further complaint: the project managers never took the time to review the building plans. Every time I asked the project manager (and we had two of them in the course of our renovations project) if he had reviewed the plans, I was told that he going to do that. We signed a contract with VGC for our renovations project. They took six months to start the project, after telling us that they needed three months to organize and be ready. They started by gutting our storage room and coring a hole into the concrete floor. They then stopped for three and half months. Then once they started up again, their trades cut building wires, halting the project on more than one occasion. The entire project was finally finished in January 2018. The sub trades that they hired often showed up for less than a couple of hours of work and other days didn't even show up. When we complained to VGC about the hold ups, we were told that our project was too small to be a priority. We have the text messages stating exactly that. VGC interior design personnel were frustrating. The first person we dealt with had no desire to accommodate our schedules. If we couldn't meet with her before 4:30pm on a week day, we couldn't see her. At the time, my schedule was flexible but my wife's was not. The two of us did not meet with this interior design personnel at the same time. Furthermore, she didn't take kindly to being asked to provide more options after she presented what she thought we should like. She told us on more than one occasion to go find what we want on our own! She was getting 20% commission off the fixture purchases. At a minimum, a little flexibility and accommodation to us, the clients, would have been appreciated. VGC attempted squeeze a further 30% out of us for "unforeseen work". I haggled VGC down to about a 1/3 of that. Made me think this was just a money grab, especially when I read on glassdoor.ca website a former-employee's comment that they were forced "to charge customers for "unforeseen costs" which anyone with any building experience could have seen in advance." On two occasions I had the president yelling and swearing at me over the phone, telling me that he fired lots of people. He was rude and difficult to deal with at the best of times. VGC stated in emails that ultimately it is about the final product. The months of delay and hassle certainly make it difficult for me to agree that it is about the final product. The final experience: very poor overall. We don't recommend.

Called them to renovate my basement, had absolutely exceptional services since day 1. Hussain and his staff helped me walk through what i needed. The customer service was phenomenal, i have had my basement renovated 3 times before and i can by far say that i regret wasting all the money spend on the other 3 companies considering they were done carelessly. I would like to thank the VGC team for recommending what my best option was. Usually a contractor will try to up sell you with the most expensive item, VCG was very understanding about my budget and helped me reach my goal without going over budget. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back if i need another job done.

I recently had a wonderful experience working with VGC. I had a complete home renovation completed, including a new kitchen, bathroom and redesign of my master bedroom. When we first started construction 2 months ago I was very nervous that we would not be done by Christmas. Bryan Sim and Hussain Khatheer personally guaranteed me that we would be and they came through on there word. Although at times construction was frustrating, VGC worked really hard to make sure I was taken care of. There client portal kept me in the loop even when I left to Calgary for the weekend. I would highly recommend VGC to anyone who wants a quality product at a fair price.

We have been working the VGC on our condo renovation for the last 2 years. We decided to purchase 2 condo units that overlook the Lions Gate bridge and the ocean, which we fell in love with. We decided to turn the 2 units into one large unit. VGC helped us design and create a living space that would meet our expectations. We worked closely with Zaineb over the last 2 years and she was amazing to deal with. She helped us with selections of materials and working with my mother to ensure that we were comfortable with the selections. Our Project Manager was Valdis and he was very informative about the processes that needed to happen and made sure that all of the work was being completed to the design that we had created. We built a great relationship with the VGC team over the last 2 years. It was stressful at times but we are very happen with how things turned out.

I hired VGC to renovate my kitchen and bathroom, and for the most part I had a very good experience. Natasha was my project consultant and designer, and she was absolutely great. She was attentive, knowledgeable, accommodating, and made the process fun! My project manager, Bryan, was very professional and organized, and I could tell he really knew what he was doing. There were some supplier delays, but the VGC team did their best to keep everything on time and on budget. With the exception of follow up on outstanding items, which has been much delayed, I was very satisfied with my experience with VGC.

VGC completed an interior and exterior renovation on my newly purchased property on the North Shore. Not only was the design process extremely helpful, I was hands off during the entire experience. The management team took care of my investment with some much needed upgrades and daily communication through their client portal. I was out of the city through most of the renovation, and was kept in the loop throughout every decision. I could not be more pleased with the final product and would recommend this company to any friends and family which I already have. Kudos to the VGC team!

I hired VGC to help us open our second barbershop location downtown. I found them online and I really liked that they got back to me right away.I showed them the space and what I was thinking and their design team came up with a great design idea that I loved. They took care of all the permits for us, which was a lot more complicated than I could have imagined, that saved us so much time. Once permits were issued,VGC team led by their designer Hoda and construction manager Ravi took care of everything for us, from scheduling the trades to helping us select the right materials to bring the design to life, Hoda was amazing to work with. There were some issues with materials being delivered incorrect, but Ravi dealt with the vendors and got us our products on express shipping. It was a little stressful but I couldn’t imagine doing it without the help of the VGC team. Their client portal app was amazing, because I constant got updates and was what was happening on site while I was at our other location. The place finished right on time, and Ravi basically slept there to get it done. I would definitely recommend them for anybody doing a renovation, and we are already in talks about another location. Very happy with my decision to go with VGC.

Vancouver general contractors renovated my home. They did a fair job in facilitating the different trades to complete my renovation. Some trades were sloppy, but were held accountable by VGC. They looked into every problem/deficiency afterwards and came up with reasonable solutions. The vendors are aware of their issues and we are waiting for their solutions. They had 2 project managers. (Haytham and Abdull) On a scale of 1 to 10, Haytham is at 3 and Abdull is at 9. I hope you people retain him(Abdull) in Vancouver.

Vancouver General Contractors just finished a project for us and I can’t be more happy with the results. We have done several renovations in our Yaletown condo over the years and this was by far the most smooth and seamless. From the very beginning the sales representative, Schwan, was kind and respectful of what we were looking for and was honest about what they could do and detailed out their transparent working arrangement. This transparency was refreshing as it removed any doubt or misunderstanding that could cause frustration throughout the project. Once we agreed on the scope of work, we were introduced to our designer Hoda. Hoda was extremely sweet and patience at dealing with my indecision and never pressured us to make hasty decisions, only guided us based on our ask and taste she had observed during her walkthrough. Although I was hesitant at first, Hoda was spot on with her choices for us and everything fit perfectly with the rest of our décor and personality. Once we had made the decisions on our materials with Hoda, we were introduced to our Project Manager Ravi. We feel we won the Project Manager lottery with Ravi as he was attentive, but not pushy, and was always available to us when we needed him. We didn’t make it easy for VGC as we had some tight timeline we needed them to meet as we were welcoming a new puppy and needed the work done by Feb 16th. With Covid shipping delays on materials this timeline was even more challenging to meet however Ravi persisted with his follow up calls to the manufacturers and at times even picked up materials himself when he found them at different locations and miraculously got everything in time and managed to complete our project with a few days to spare. We also feel very fortunate in having had Firas as part of the team who worked on our project. Firas was the main contractor and his attention to detail was impeccable and so appreciated since I am a perfectionist and notice every little thing. VGC does a wonderful job vetting their trades people and we always felt safe and comfortable with everyone who entered our home. To be honest, as is with most projects, I was expecting there to be a problem at some point with at least one of the people we would encounter but that was just not the case. I am not usually one to write reviews however I feel the people who worked on our project deserve recognition for doing such a great job and being professional and kind throughout the entire project. I would absolutely use VGC again.

I recently had a full kitchen renovation completed. After agreeing with VGC to go ahead with my project (with Schwan) just before the Covid lockdown in the spring, I was unsure about what would happen. However, once VGC were able to get their operations running again we were able to proceed safely. My experience was very good. I worked with Zaineb on the project, who helped me with my design selections and also managed the project overall once underway. This was my first large reno project and I was quite concerned about it, which is why I wanted a company who had a full range of services. It went very well. Zaineb kept on top of the schedule and the contractors and informed me when issues came up that required my attention. The contractors were reliable, efficient and did a good job. I was especially concerned about the project given the Covid measures we have in place but despite this everything was done according to plan. I had some minor gripes with a couple of the change orders and little things towards the end of the project, like decorative finishes, but these were addressed before completion. Zaineb was a great help, available to respond when needed and keeping me informed. Overall I'm very happy with my experience and would recommend them. I would be happy to use them again for my next project.

We are very happy with the renovation Vancouver General Contractors did for us. We had our kitchen completely redesigned, our powder room updated, and new paint and flooring put in our living room. The kitchen was originally built in the old-box style, so the living and dining areas were two small rooms. We really wanted to knock down the wall between the kitchen and living room for an open concept and a larger kitchen. There were some construction challenges needed to achieve this because the wall separating the two rooms was a load-bearing wall and contained all of the plumbing and duct work. Not only would they need to tear down the existing wall but install 2 load-bearing beams and move all the plumbing. We had been told to book a one week stay in a hotel while this work was done, but incredibly the contractor, Firas, and the plumber, had the job completed in only 3 ½ days, saving us a significant amount of money and inconvenience. We really enjoyed working with our Interior Designer Sepideh, discussing the design options and choosing our materials and accents. Our Project Director Haytham then worked very hard to ensure our renovation was built as smoothly as possible. We are very happy with the end result and would definitely recommend using Vancouver General Contractors for your renovation needs.

They make our jobs much easier from assembly of the cabinets to deliver on site. The project managers are always there to ensure that install goes properly. I found Vancouver General Contractors (VGC) on line for our condo remodel on Nelson Street in downtown Vancouver after interviewing a total of five different general contractors for the work. I selected VGC because they seemed to be the most professional with a number of different specialities in house. As a retired real estate professional I found I could relate to their knowledge and capabilities. My wife and I met several times with the VGC team in their offices and were impressed with their presentations. In our mind they had the best ideas for what was a very complete and thorough remodel of our 20 year old property. In particular, the design consultant, Shawn, was very capable in obtaining our City permit sooner than we expected and gave us a good overview of our scope of work and timeline for the project. We found each of their several professionals were very knowledgeable and experienced in their own specialities. In interior design, and the critical area of material selection, their design manager, Zaineb, was more that superior. She had excellent taste for our selections because she listened well to our wishes and steered us tactfully in the right direction. She was capable and had a friendly demeanor. She made herself readily accessible at short notice even on week-ends. The quality of work and attention to detail that VGC’s project manager, Valdis, brought to our remodel were also superior. His efforts made our 20 year old condo look like a new unit. He had a very good commitment to quality and detail on site. He labored hard to please us even when some of our wishes may have appeared excessively time consuming for him. He never gave up on finding the right solutions. If there is any area that we feel VGC could improve upon it is on initial estimation of project costs since our actual project costs were significantly higher than we originally anticipated. There were a number of un expected change orders that came later for work we thought had already been paid. Nevertheless when questioned about these items VGC’s explanations always appeared reasonable. In the end, our satisfaction well outweighed our concern as to the additional costs, some of which were situations beyond VGC’s control. As with any project there were a few hiccups here and there but nevertheless VGC stayed on top of the job to meet the timeline for completion with a close eye for client satisfaction and quality of work.

I purchased during peak housing sales and sky-high prices in March 2016. I couldn't afford a move-in-ready house and ended up purchasing a major fixer upper. I turned to VGC to do a full re-build renovation and add 1,000 sq. ft. The new version is a complete 180 from its original. VGC differentiates themselves from other contractors by providing in-house designer/planning and sourcing of materials. To do this on your own would have been very time consuming and options of what to purchase limited to whom you knew. VGC renovated the house to our personality and for that we are very appreciative. Overall we are very happy with the experience with VGC. Hussain, general manager is a very personable and knowledgeable professional and will do what it takes to take care of his clients. We would definitely recommend VGC if you're thinking about doing a renovation,

The job did take longer than expected but if you want great results, solid workmanship and an organized team, then you have to expect things to be done right. If your paying 100k+ for a full renovation, its going to take some time. Now that its done, I am so happy with how everything turned out!

I was contacted pretty quickly and was able to set up a meeting with my project consultant within days. The level of craftsmanship that was completed by the trades was phenomenal. The weather did impact the timeline in completing the project, but the trades worked through the wet conditions to complete the project. I am glad I went with Vancouver General Contractors and would recommend them to anyone that is looking for professional experts in the renovation industry in Vancouver.

When planning our renovation we didn't know who to call. I googled and came across Vancouver General Contractors. I read their reviews carefully and decided to meet with them as well as 2 other contractors. We had renovations done before and fell for those contractors who give you a cheap quote and add on costs as the renovation progresses. VGC won us over. They were very knowledged and planned everything to the detail, kept me updated with a great online app and communicated every step of the process. We loved working with them and are extremely happy with the result. We didn't spent a dime more than their estimation which was very important for us. We will definitely work with them again.

I was introduced to Vancouver General Contractors by a friend who had a kitchen and 2 bathrooms completely renovated. They came highly recommended as on-schedule, on-budget and very professional. We had someone dedicated to us throughout the whole process who kept my wife and I in the loop with everything and maintained full transparency. The workers were very detailed, organized and professional. The build was on-time and on-budget and where we did run into unforeseeable issues or possible extra costs, they were right on top of things for me and able to offer great options for solutions.

A negative 1 star. I hired them to renovate my house back in 2016 and they did a disastrous job. They started with a low budget and added more than $100k in CHANGE ORDERS. The company is so un-organized and un-ethical that my designer and project manager changed 3 times. I believe even employees dont like to work for Hussain Khatheer (the so called General Manager). He is the only person giving 5 star to this company. Due to their issues I lost tens of thousands of dollars and got sick. DO NOT USE THEM.

I just want to say, a couple years have passed since the so called "Reno" and not a day goes by where I don't cringe at the whole experience of working with VGC. You shouldn't have been fully compensated for your services because in the end I put in at least 50% of the leg work. You charmed me out of a lot of money, which effects me to this day. We met with a knowledgeable design team at the VGC's office who were able to create plans to fit what we hoped to accomplish. Work got under way in a timely fashion. It helped that they are full-service with someone dedicated to help us through every step of the way, saving us time and headaches. Our project manager, Abdull, was on the ball at all times and kept us updated every week on the progress. He dealt with the few hiccups we had and was able to resolve them to our satisfaction. Nightmare is the only word that can be used to describe this place. I wish that some of the true experiences had been posted before we decided to hire this horrible company. Too bad google doesn't do a better job of actually finding out if the positive reviews are real. We were trapped in a contract with this horrible company forever! They led us to believe that they had experience with a renovation like ours but then failed us time and time again. Not only was the original timeline of construction more than 3 times as long as the estimate but the number of change orders required to get the project even close to done was staggering. We are still with the negligence of this awful company, still finishing up items that they never did. The leadership is careless and inexcusable- this is reflected in his company. Do not hire this company.

We chose VGC to remodel two full bathrooms and powder room. As we were going to continue living in the house throughout the renovations, we requested the job be done in two stages. Our project manager, Zaineb helped us with the design, choosing materials, etc. She had listened to our needs and as our renovations is coming to an end, we have to say that we are very please with the results. The project had gone smoothly from beginning to end. Zaineb had chosen skilled sub trades and had done an excellent job coordinating their jobs, always keeping in mind COVID protocols. She is always available and had taken care of any of our concerns immediately. Our project was completed ahead of schedule. Definitely, we will have Zaineb and her team for any future renovations.

These guys are disrespectful, are falsely advertising and a waste of time. After a look through their website, I contacted them through their website about renovating my condo bathroom. I gave detailed explanation of my project. They contacted me within 24 hours to get more details of my condo, the size, timeline and scope of the renovation. We set up a time for a walk through. Upon the arrival of the assessor, the guy interrogated me about whether or not I had reviewed their website and then proceeded to say that they don't do condos and need to refer me to a different company. He left after 5 minutes of arriving. I made it clear in both my message and phone call that it was a condo. In addition, there is even an option on their website that they do condo renos. I booked time off work for this assessment. Unacceptable.

Terrible, made designs for my kitchen that were way over what I said I could afford. Then blamed me for not having enough money. Then produced drawings that were identical to the kitchen I already had. Then charged close to 3000 dollars for the designs. Never got back the money. Then bullied (called me 3 times a day for weeks) into signing a discharge for nothing! Never trust again.

Everybody has been so wonderful from Sharon the person u first talk to and helps me solve a lot of small problems to Abdul our Project Manager who answers or looks into my Husbands questions. This company is professional all the way but it still feels like a family. 5 stars all the way. I am happy to announce we have completed our major Reno. It has been a very long and sometimes stressful time but the wonderful people at Vancouver General Contractors have been wonderful. I want to especially thank again Zanineb and Abdul. Both where more like family helping on the weekends or anytime we needed them Zanineb ideas and flair mixed with our taste. It has turned out beautiful It was a 1949 old tiny house and now it is a beautiful open concept dream kitchen and beautiful master bedroom. It has my husbands dream 3 car garage . We are so happy. Avoid this company. Nothing by negative experiences. Owner is a disrespectful nightmare. Sold a pack of lies of what the company could do for my home renovation. Underestimated the timeline. Underestimated the costs by thousands. Employees left the company so frequently it was shocking. Communication was terrible. Trades used were incompetent and did substandard work. Do not use this company.

Vancouver General Contractors did a wonderful job renovating our bathroom. We worked almost exclusively with Hoda Montazeri, the design consultant. Hoda came to the house , reviewed our general ideas for a complete retrofit then provided suggestions for change. Hoda then provided a set of drawings showing the revised plan for construction. Once finalized Hoda assisted us to find the tiles , countertops, cabinets, sinks ,fixtures and all the paint colours. Hoda also was constantly available to answer questions or correct issues. The final product is amazing mostly thanks to Hoda’s assistance.

The project manager Hamed was knowledgeable and in control of the project, made sure the crews were available on time according to my schedule and he made sure that they all did an excellent job. And Parv was also very helpful through out the whole process and made sure everything was being done accordingly. He communicated with me on each step and that put my mind at ease for the total renovation of the kitchen and the bathroom. And all the electrical items were taken care of properly and up to code. And I am extremely happy with the end result of my renovation. And I will recommend Vancouver General Contractor for anyone looking to renovate.

It is with pleasure that we write this review of Vancouver General Contractors (VGC) for our kitchen renovation. From the very beginning of our experience with VGC, the communication was great! We initially communicated by email as that was the easiest for my husband and I, however we always received a prompt response to our emails. Once the renovation started we were in regular contact with our Project Manager; at least once a week on the phone or in person, and often daily via text when things were busy. It was very reassuring to know he was there to answer any of our questions or address our concerns. When issues came up during demolition, as they are bound to do, our Project Manager worked hard with us to find the best cost effective solution, and made sure we were promptly updated with any changes. We were also impressed with the quality of work. From the designer who worked hard with us to create a beautiful vision within a complicated space, to the trades who turned that vision into a reality. They were all very pleasant, knowledgeable and patient with us. They all took the time to answer our questions and discuss the work they were completing. We always felt fully informed and never felt we were being disruptive. They were also all great at brainstorming with us and the Project Manager when problems arose. At the end of the day, we always came home to a clean and tidy job site. Our project even completed ahead of schedule! Our Project Manager was great at having all of the trades scheduled to come and do their work. Now that the job is done, we are impressed by the level of craftsmanship, and we are very pleased at how much more functional and attractive our kitchen is thanks to the help of the designer. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to revisit the design after the demolition stage and rough construction is done. Sometimes structural issues during demolition result in changes that have an unintended impact on the design. We are recommending VGC to anyone who asks, and one of our friends have already gone in for a quote.

Vancouver General Contractors was an excellent company to work with! They were very professional and friendly throughout the entire process. For a person who is very indecisive, having the interior design component was a huge plus as well! Communication from the designer side could have been better, however we do not have any other real complaints. Most issues/concerns were addressed in a timely manner. We are so happy with our renovations and would highly recommend working with this company!
