I used Smart Reno (and a few competitors) to source a contractor for a bathroom tile replacement. Smart Reno brought me the best set of contractors, and the contractor I selected through them delivered on time and on budget. The tile installers were great to work with, and my wife and I love the results. Smart Reno themselves are really on top of customer service as well. While I never heard from their competitors, Smart Reno actually followed-up with me to make sure that the work was completed to my satisfaction. I'd absolutely recommend using Smart Reno to connect with contractors in the future.

Which translates in my case to paying $ 4000 more just because Smartreno put me in touch with my contractor. Note that a subscription to the yellow pages is an annual package which must not exceed $ 1,500 for the entrepreneur: even if the entrepreneur spreads the amount over all the projects, it will never return to the customers to pay in addition 5 at 10%. When I registered for SmartReno this system was never indicated, and this is mainly what I blame Smartreno (no transparency). To have known, I would NEVER have passed by them. Notez qu'un abonnement aux pages jaunes est un forfait annuel qui ne doit pas dépasser 1500$ pour l'entrepreneur: même si l'entrepreneur réparti le montant sur l'ensemble des projets, ça ne reviendra jamais aux clients à payer en plus 5 à 10%. Lorsque je me suis inscrite à SmartReno ce système n'a jamais été indiqué, et c'est principalement ça que je reproche à Smartreno (pas de transparence). À l'avoir su, je ne serais JAMAIS passée par eux. Et c'est pour ça que ce n'est pas indiqué. Vive le bouge à oreille! Et plus jamais SmartReno

As a contractor, I have worked with them for several years. Its a long story but whatever you do , DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!!! They take money off of it for renewel fees even when you telle them you dont want and then they refuse to refund. I have had issues with this with them ever since they bought off Zoomission.

They acted fast. I had a qualified contractor working at my home within a week, who did a perfect job. We are very happy. Update January 2020, we tried to reach contractor that Smart Reno sent out regarding problems with some of the plumbing and he did not return any calls. We have been trying to reach for two months, I guess as long as the job looks nice the contractor doesnt feel responsible to ensure that it works well too. So Smart Reno is great but ensure the contractor they send guarantees work and is reputable.

The service itself is a great idea. The issue is there is no opportunity to opt out of communication. Personally, I was looking for information to plan a small renovation. I have been called and emailed everyday since to follow-up. I called the customer service to stop the follow-up calls and emails, and they suggested that wasn't an option because their business is to stay connect throughout the process. The over-eager behaviour has discouraged me from moving forward with any of the contractors, which is not the fault of the contractors and a disservice to them. I want nothing to do with this service, but still get texts, emails, and phone calls from Smart Reno and their contractors daily! The service should have a clear warning about the next steps in the process.

My experience with Smart Reno was terrible. We submitted a bid for renovations in our home. Smart Reno told me that they would select and refer three contractors that had previous experience with these sort of renovations and who had received positive reviews from other customers. However, one of the contractors referred to me by Smart Reno (and who I unfortunately ended up hiring) was completely incompetent. The quality of his work was so poor that he agreed that he recognized that "he had learned from his mistakes" on this job and he agreed to only be paid for about 50% of the original quote. My wife and I ended up completing the different renovations ourselves and hired another contractor (from a large construction company) to finish things that we could not do ourselves. The contractor referred to me by Smart Reno also failed to pay one of his sub-contractors, who later came to me to provide evidence for a claim in small claims court. I informed Smart Reno about the issues with this contractor and they did absolutely nothing. I looked up the contractor on the Smart Reno and he is still listed as accepting bids on their website. I am sorry that I wasted so much time, energy, and money using Smart Reno's services.

Not impressed at all with Smart Reno. Our company paid for and used the services of Smart Reno for a year and did not receive any credible leads. Our credit card was charged for another full year of services prior to that year of service beginning. We asked that the charge be refunded to us as we no longer wish to be a part of the Smart Reno site for the upcoming year. We were told that as part of our contract, the terms and conditions state that we would have had to inform them of our desire to cancel, 5 days prior to services beginning. They also feel justified keeping our credit card on file. I can appreciate that legally they hold the high ground but I still feel this is very poor customer service and not good business practice. If Smart Reno cared about the level of service that they were providing, they would allow you to cancel their services if you no longer saw value in them. I caution anyone businesses to use their services as we saw no value and I consider their payment process to be shady.

THEY DIDN’T EVEN CHECK THE CONTRACTOR’S REVIEWS. THE CONTRACTOR (PURE INTERIORS INC.), SMART RENO GAVE ME WAS AN UNPROFFESSIONAL WITH VERY BAD REVIEWS, NO HONESTY. THEY EVEN PUT A LIEN ON MY PROPERTY BEFORE COMPLETING THE WORK. APPARENTLY, THIS WAS THEIR SCARE TACTICS TO GET FULL MONEY WTHOUT COMPLETING THE WORK. HE WAS/IS DOING THIS TO ALL OTHER CUSTOMERS. I ENDED UP PAYING LEGAL FEES AND EXTRA MONEY TO REMOVE THE LIEN. WHEN HE LEFT THE PLACE, MY BACKYARD LOOKED LIKE A LANDFILL. IT WAS A DISASTOR BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MY HOUSE, DIFFFERENT STAGES OF CITY INSPECTION WERE NOT PASSED. IN FACT, CITY INSPECTORS WERE LAUGHING WHEN THEY SAW HIS WORK. WHOEVER SAW HIS WORK ASKED ME WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS GUY. “WITH HUMILIATION, I SAID SMART RENO”. I HAD TO HIGHER ANOTHER CONTRACTOR TO REDO HIS WORK AND COMPLETE THE JOB; OF COURSE, I DIDN’T USE SMART RENO. I signed for this service on April.2021 - at the beginning I was getting leads, when I tried to contact the clients, my surprise, was to late for me to call as most of there were looking for painting a while ago. I got the leadS weeks later. So I spoke with my rep about the leads (every lead that you accept you pay 9 dollars) they say there were working on their platforms to upgrade the service. STILL WONDERING IF THIS IS SCAM. I have a lot to say about this. But I can resume just saying stay away. I ask to cancell this service but still I am waiting if I can get any refund. He demonstrated superb customer service skills, especially listening, asking targeted questions, and understanding our needs, budget, and decor tastes. He went above and beyond, including sourcing and purchasing for us quality product replacements due to pandemic shortages, all of which we liked much better than our original choices. He brought in a master plumber on his team to double-check twice that there were no longer any issues. Todd, from Handyman Calgary Solutions was great - the directions on the shower stall were a little sketchy, so it leaked at first, but he came back twice and fixed it - and then he installed my new kitchen faucet and the new shower fixture for a different bathroom for free. I would definitely use HCS again. My second two projects - I had a bad experience with one and another great experience with Todd again. Would Hire Todd Froebel without a second thought. Compagnie a fait faillite dans l'intervalle. 3) Projet 4 : payé pour une nouvelle toiture, garantie 20 ans. Une équipe de clowns mal aimables ont débarqué. Le bras droit a détruit notre gazebo. Depuis trois ans, le bardeau d'asphalte côté jardin tombe morceau par morceau. Les deux premières années, il est venu réparer ce qui était tombé, mais la troisième année, il a exigé 300$ pour effectuer les réparations alors que nous avions une garantie. J'ai refusé et j'ai découvert qu'il n'était plus enregistré au registraire des entreprises 6 mois avant mon appel et qu'il travaillait donc au noir. Depuis il a disparu et nous avons perdu notre garantie. Comme il y a encore des morceaux qui tombent, nous allons devoir refaire la partie arrière qui gondole à vu d'œil. Perte 3.000$. Bonne nouvelle, ces trois compagnies ne sont plus en affaire. Le problème est que ce site n'a pas fait sa job pour vérifier la qualité des travaux offerts. Seul critère pour être affiché : avoir payé ses frais d'adhésion avant d'annoncer ses services. D'ailleurs, cela a été fortement dénoncé dans les médias récemment. Quand j'ai contacté le service à la clientèle pour l'informer de ne plus continuer à afficher ce couvreur qui n'est plus en affaire, l'employée m'a dit que comme cet entrepreneur n'avait pas payé ses frais d'adhésion cette année, il n'est pas proposé sur leur site, de plus, mon commentaire négatif est refusé et pour finir, Smart Reno n'a pas de programme pour aider leurs clients malchanceux. Je lui ai fait remarquer que je n'appelais pas pour avoir de l'argent ! Bref, à vos risques et périls d'utiliser ce site pour vos travaux !!! Dans notre cas, c'est un gros ZÉRO !

A good project with a good budget was removed from SmartReno portal. Customer service motivated their decision by lack of service professionals in the area. This leaves me wondering why would a contractor pay SmartReno to sign up for their platform if they limit contractors' choice. Would SmartReno (really just a marketing company) know how contractors operate? My project was subsequently posted on TrustedPros and I already got two quotes in less than 24 hours from GTA contractors who told me they would be happy to take this job if I cover travel charge. Thumbs up for TrustedPros.

A month ago I hired a contractor through Smart Reno. This was the first time and unfortunately I went with the reviews the contractor had, six all positive! I hired the company Right Choice general contractor and he was very incompetent with shower renovation (used normal drywall and not water resistance blue boards under the tiles that I provided, a disaster in faucet installation) and painting (very low quality). His client interactions were distaster! The only thing clearly mattered to him was saving on his cost even if quality was compromised! The worst thing is when I left my negative feed back Smart Reno did not post it. No wonder he only had six positive feed back... but this can be very decieving for new customers want to hire him. No wonder that I see so many negative feed back here about Smart Reno with the same issue... They DO NOT post negative feed backs on their sites... this is going down the hill for their business as honesty should come first!

Our upstairs on-suite bathroom was renovated by 6ix Build, Markham. Michael and Eric did a very professional job. On time every day, worked very hard and were available for questions that we had. Job site was cleaned and we were very satisfied with their work. Would recommend to anyone needing reno's.

We are so please with Maurice and Chase and could not be more appreciative for their work and their willingness to problem solve and come up with solutions to meet our families needs and our budget. If I could I would post 0 zero stars review. They promise contractors with qualified leads but leads, one the leads are not qualified at all and two, the leads have no proper information. The customer service from the account managers are also terrible, every time a tried to contact my it took more then a week for her to get back to me. SmartReno is partner with RBC bank, a banking institution that should know better to not deal with a company such as. I purchased numerous leads from SmartReno and even helped them on how to qualify the leads, what a joke! They do not even asked me with I was a license contractor, as I am. SmartReno is selling they services to home owners but they do not check on the contractors qualifications. Attention home owners and contractors, stay way from this company.
