I dropped in without an appointment to have some lint dug out of the lightning port of my iPhone. I ended up having my customer service socks blown off by Tony. He was able to make me feel safe and welcome despite the COVID-19 protocols, which is a big accomplishment. Then he quickly fixed my phone, and didn't charge me. What a guy. The following week was time for a new phone in the family, guess where we picked it up? Simply Computing on Foul Bay and again Tony took great care of me. Thanks Tony!
Minimum politeness. Told me I would have to pay for something that was actually covered under Applecare. Apple sent me to another service provider where they covered it properly.
Attentive and knowledgeable staff - I highly recommend them.
First Class treatment and service, didn't know competent people existed in Victoria who can handle Mac's. Saved me major time and expense from NOT having to got to the Apple store in Vancouver for a recent purchase of a Mac Pro desktop. I was worried it was too new for a repair, but they fixed it before they were even supposed to be looking at it! Always great to find someone local who knows what they are doing please keep it up!!!
The home button on my 8+ was broken, I brought it to Simply Computing. I was told it would take about a week and that they’d call me when it was returned to them. When my phone came back to them, less than a week after I dropped it off, they failed to notify me. They didn’t call me on either of the numbers I provided, they didn’t email me, text me, nothing. I was starting to get concerned, so after 16 days I called them. When I called, they couldn’t find my phone, they couldn’t find me by name or phone number, and the man I spoke with told me that I must have the wrong place, asking if I was sure I dropped it off at their location. When they finally found me in their system, they told me they had my phone and I asked when they got it back, I was told they’d had it back for two weeks! I asked why I had not received a phone call or email, the guy told me “I can’t answer that question.” I reiterated my question and he responded “I don’t know the answer to that question.” At no point was there any apology for the lack of contact and timeliness. When I went to the store to pick up my phone, the man who was helping me was irritated that I hadn’t backed up my phone. I explained that I only intended to send a couple of photos to myself, there was nothing to back up. I let him know that I had called while I was out running errands and I wasn’t aware that they even had my phone until a few minutes prior. There was no apology and no patience or kindness extended. I was extremely disappointed with the service.
Set up my apt through apple. Brought in my new iPad for repair. The technician and staff were great. Fast, pleasant to deal with, knowledgeable. Issue was resolved within a couple of days
I have always had great service here over the last 17 years that I have been using them.
Fast courteous service. They don't always answer the phone but they do call you back fairly quick. Communicated well and kept the timelines promised.
Thanks to Simply Computing for doing a great job on checking out my 2019 MacBook Pro. I was having problems with the Wi-Fi and with the hardware diagnostics. Simply Computing resolved both of the issues very quickly.
I brought in my laptop attempting to trade it in (Which I would describe as an aluminum unibody paperweight given how dead it was). Tony was heart set on trying to get me some amount of money for it. Although his efforts were ultimately fruitless, it's obvious how much he cares about providing an amazing experience for everyone who walks through the door. Would definitely recommend.
Great first impression. Staff member who helped me was very nice.
Simply Computing took my iMac in for repair quicker than anyone else could, not to mention getting the job done when they said they would. Their tech, LJ was very thorough in explaining the repair as well. If you're in a crunch, I'd recommend these guys.
Friendly service.
Warning before you buy a month to month payment program, with Simply: I bought a computer with them back in 2018, and are now realizing the month to month plan will charge me almost double what the computer is worth, because they won't let me out of the month to month plan until the 48 month contract is up. So just a warning to anyone out there considering the month to month program, it seems like a good deal but it's not. Supposedly you could do a buy out after the first year, but they hadn't given me any email reminders or anything that it would be less expensive (If I understood correctly) to buy it out back then, once the year mark was approaching. Very disappointed to be paying way more than the computer is worth.
After waiting patiently for some help, and not even being acknowledged till I had been there around 15 minutes, they took 2 older customers who walked in after before me. When i was finally invited to the counter the apple expert was still assisting someone else so I stood awkwardly next to them. The expert seemed put off by me and didn't hide it well. Overall I left feeling I got the minimal amount of service.
Disappointed. Sales individual was very nice and polite, however I didn't get the impression that he was very knowledgeable. I would expect better from a certified Apple Dealer.
Extremely unhelpful staff. If you need help I recommend just calling 1800-MYAPPLE (you'll be on hold) Or trying another Apple authorized service provider. When I called they told me the phone I needed to replace was in stock, but when I got there they didn't have it at all. Then I found out that my Apple care plus was actually "used" already from the Kelowna location where I tried to replace my phone but again they didn't have the model and sent me home with my broken phone. None of the staff from either store were able to resolve this issue and the manager in Kelowna "couldn't recall" what happened.
I poured wine onto my Macbook air. Even if you do it by accident, the computer takes it personally. Disaster. It died in a second and I panicked. I'm a writer, everything I hadn't backed up was in that shiny box. I took my sorry computer to Simply Computing where Tony understood my panic immediately, took the machine in back, gave it to LG, a Simply Computing Tech specialist, who came out in ten minutes and said, Yes. I can save the data, all of it, but the computer is really destroyed inside, not worth fixing. I knew this, so I told him and Tony that I was prepared for this and will buy a new macbook air, at which point Tony said, "And we will take care of the rest. Our tech specialists are top notch." Tony then very carefully, professionally, courteously, settled me down, thoroughly explained the whole process of migrating my data to the new computer, answered all of my questions with the kind of detail that bred confidence in me as a customer, made sure I was with him every step of the way, went to the back where he confirmed I would have it all in hand the next day, since he understood I was on deadline as a writer, and sent me on my way. I left feeling treated extraordinarily well, and with a modicum of confidence that it would be okay in the end, for a whoppingly small $99 for migrating the data onto the new computer. I'm just back from Simply Computing. The smile on my face is not an emoji. It's the smile of a real person whose sorry bottom and writing was saved by the quick, understanding, professional, courteous, kind, thoughtful, and highly skilled pros at Simply Computing Victoria. High Praise all around. The crew at Simply Computing is top notch, indeed. And, Tony at the top of that! my thanks
Jeff was amazing Great service Very friendly and knowledgeable
I am not super happy with the repair experience that my girlfriend had here with her iPhone SE. I feel that her lack of knowledge of technology the repair process was taken advantage of. She brought in her iPhone under warranty becuase she was having issues with a sensor as well as the touchscreen. It was only a few months old as it had been a warranty replacement for her old phone that had had a similar issue. I repair iPhones myself, but the phone was under warranty so we were directed to Simply Computing as they are one of the few places in Victoria that are supposed to do under warranty iPhone repairs in house. Unfortunately when she brought in the phone to be repaired they failed to mention that they do not do screen repairs (the most common iPhone problem, and part of what she brought the phone in for) so they had to send it away to Apple and her one to two day repair turned in to a week. The main issue was with the repair process. The technician attempted to repair the phone, fixed the sensor, and determined it also was a bad screen assembly and informed her that it had to be sent to Apple under warranty. Apple got back to them saying that the phone's internal liquid sensors had been tripped and that it would have to be a paid repair. I have 2 problems with this. First, as an iPhone technician myself of many years, I know that the technician should have observed the tripped liquid sensors, and should have informed her of this. At this point I would have done the repair myself cheaply and quickly (a couple of hours). Second, the phone had spent 99% of its time in a waterproof Lifeproof case which I had given her so any amount of liquid enough to trip the internal sensors would also be unlikely. Lastly, after picking up and paying for the replacement phone from Apple, we found that it had an immediate problem with the rotation sensor in the phone which means that it will have to be repaired again. This is frustrating becuase they kept the phone for an extra day after receiving it to thoroughly test it themselves. All in all, we had to wait a week for what should have been a day or two repair, we ended up having to pay for what we believed should have been a warranty issue, and she now has a phone with a new issue. Not a great experience.
Fantastic experience, walked in and they fixed my keyboard issue in minutes, no need to make an appointment, and no long wait like at places downtown. Worth the trip to Oak Bay to deal with my repair so quickly and easily.
TD gets my vote for 5-star service!
I went there got a laptop fixed, and they charged me $350. Only to have it break in TWO days, I bring it in thinking they would help me with the laptop but they had the audacity to charge me another $700. At this rate I’d get a new laptop . Terrible absolutely terrible
DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! Not only was the customer service from the lady behind the desk awful, talking down to me as though I was a nuisance being in the store, they were also incredibly racist. In my few minutes of being in there, a male employee was on the phone with someone who clearly was not an English speaker. The man was so rude on the phone and once he hung up he said out loud "She sounded dirty, those people need to go back to their own country". Terrible customer service, high prices and racist employees/owners...if I could give them a negative star I would.
I took my iPhone in for repair (screen replacement). Upon fixing the device, the technicians forgot to replace a screw in the device. The device became water damaged. They were completely unwilling to honor the 3 month warranty on their repair. Very poor customer support. I'd avoid this place and go to London Drugs.
Edit: I went from a 3 star to a 5 star. It's a nice computer shop that fixes macs. Knowledgeable and friendly staff as well.
Terrible service, I phoned the day prior to ask a couple questions and set up an appointment for a repair, upon arrival they said the complete opposite of what they told me on the phone and blamed it on my misunderstanding. The questions I asked on the phone were clear and repeated with others in the room. It was incredibly inconvenient to go there and they only wasted my time and treated me quite poorly.
My wife brought her MacBook Pro in for issues related to charging the computer recently. The first time the customer service person was congenial but did little in the way of diagnostics and sold her a new charger (which wasn't likely the problem) which didn't fix the problem. The second time she came back she was helped by someone who was impatient and condescending. He ran diagnostics and had the battery replaced but the machine still isn't charging properly. She would go back to Simply but simply doesn't want to be subjected to the condescending customer service again so she's going to go elsewhere.
This is a shady computer shop that steals and swaps hardrives and personal data off computers. Don't go here. Should have apple certification revoked.
Just finished a most unhelpful phone call with a sales person. Wasn't willing to check with a supplier about a specific item I was looking for but instead referred to his tech guy who stated "we don't carry that here". Was rude and brusque on the phone. No thanks.
Very easy to deal with. AppleCare repair was completed quickly and professionally. In Victoria - these are the guys to deal with for your Apple gear.
Fantastic service, expedient return and repair of my Macbook Pro!
After deciding to boycott online shopping wherever possible I was so happy to discover this shop in my neighbourhood that actually carried everything I needed for my family. Hershel laptop cases, ipod earbuds, you name it, they had it. Service was great and it felt good to support a local shop. ????
There are a few authorized Apple stores in town, but these folks are "simply" the best. Patience of steel, unwavering understanding, and the best email technical support for my MacBook Pro (thanks J.T.) !
My iphone 8 stopped working after an update. After hours on the phone with Apple support they said to take it to a repair facility. We chose SC. Took the phone in and the guy looked at it and said it wasn't fixable, gets about 5 of these a week and its a hardware issue. Back to phoning Apple and doing various different operations to try to resolve. They suggested we call our cell service provider as we couldn't get a cell signal. The first guy told us that it looked like the sim card reader wasn't working because we tried another sim card and that didn't work either. But he said he would put us onto the second level support to confirm diagnosis. That fellow concurred but said to try backing up to the cloud and then "delete all content and data" We did so, the phone worked fine after that. Had I simply listened to Simply Computing I would have been out shopping for a new phone.
These folk are simply the best in town. I've been nursing an old MacbookPro for over 6 years now, thanks in great part to these experienced, kind, professional and helpful experts. They blew me away last time I came in with a blown power …
We received horrible, horrible service. They were disorganized, the person helping us struggled to use their own computer system, and they messed up our phone. We brought the phone in for a BATTERY change. What did they do? Wipe the phone. This was done despite knowing that we hadn't backed it up in over 2 weeks (this was revealed during the initial diagnostic), and without warning us ahead of time. Yes, we signed a waiver saying that we were fine with them doing the update on the battery despite the fact that we hadn't backed up the phone - BUT A BATTERY REPLACEMENT DOESN'T REQUIRE A PHONE WIPE. They wiped it anyways. They had our phone number, they could have called to warn us, but they didn't. I will never be returning to this store for any purpose.
I had simply care added to my purchase of my MacBook Pro and I took my computer in for service due to an issue of damage, I had to tell the representative that I bought simply care to cover this, and the rep didn’t believe me as the rep was going off the apple site and not the simply computing site. I had to tell the rep that they were wrong, and to pull up my account to find out I was right. I shouldn’t have to explain this and fight for what I paid for. Now, it going to be almost a week before they can look at it and tell me what will be done to fix the computer. I understand the technician is sick which you can’t blame them for it, but the time and money I am losing because of not having a replacement in the meantime runs me the wrong way. The response is shrug the shoulders and wait. If this is their way to getting me to get a new computer, I am not buying it from them. I hope that if and when I get word of what is going to be done is satisfactory as not having a replacement in the meantime is costing me. Which it seems like it’s something this company doesn’t care about.
I took my MacBook pro for repair and was greeted by a courteous and professional technician. I did not have to wait in line and was in and out within 10 minutes. I was assured my laptop would be fixed within 3 days, and they kept their word by delivering on time. I ended up needing a new hard drive and was contacted by a specialist requesting confirmation to proceed. Once again the specialist on the phone was courteous and professional. He answered all questions I had concisely and politely. Upon picking my laptop up I noticed they replaced the missing "feet" underneathe without request. This little detail made all the difference to me as a customer. Great work simply computing!
They don't know what there doing.
Excellent service & expert support! They got my old iPad completely reconnected & working even though it was unable to activate at all!
I took a phone there that was a month and half old. Immediately they suggested it was water damage, the phone has never been wet, they assured me that if the water sensors were not tripped there would no problem the phone would be covered, then the next day the story changed to well if there is corrosion there would be no warranty. The phone is now getting replaced by Apple. I would skip this step and go directly to Apple, they were so helpful and in Victoria they have same day service at London Drugs, super easy and even though Simply Computers claims to be the only Apple dealer in town, they aren’t London Drugs is who Apple themselves sent me to. Simply also asked me to sign a document stating there was water damage to the phone. I noticed when I went home there is damage to the charging port on the phone that was not there before. It was quite odd that the phone has never been in water and there is corrosion but the sensors in the phone show that there was no water in the phone. When I spoke to Apple they assured me that if the water sensors weren’t tripped I should be covered. I would not take anything to them the costumer service person speculated on the damage and when I arrived to pick up my phone they were not even willing to discuss things. Jordan was very rude and would not even listen to me at all. He was trying hard to sell me a replacement phone for 536$, that was the only solution he would offer. He actually interrupted me and repeated what I said mocking me. The gentlemen I spoke to originally told me that he thought it maybe liquid damage. How he would know that without any information about the phone is beyond me but it appears they made it come true: Apple assured me that that phone should not have liquid damage as it is water resistant, the Apple representative was kind and listened to me and wanted to help me, they even suggested preventative measures for the future. I would not take anything there again. Jordan practically threw my phone at me and The owner of this place should review the body language he was using with me the entire time. I would assume they have video, it was uppauling it seems they are working with Bell to drive business there way. They were more focused on selling me another phone and making me a new customer than actually helping resolve the issue of the failing phone.
I called to try and make an appointment for help with my computer and the person who answered the phone was incredibly rude and told me there was a "95% chance they couldn't fix it" and seemed exasperated that he had to even talk a customer. Definitely not entrusting them with my machine.
Great service. This is a terrific business.
My 2013 MacBook Pro which was released in 2015 had an issue with the drive. After hours of trying to sort this out I went down to Simply to purchase a new drive. The women who first greeted me started to inquire why I needed the drive and I explained the problem. Instead of selling me the drive she told me to bring in my MacBook so they could run a quick diagnostics test. I head back home and bring in my MacBook but the store is busy. She is with another costumer so a man helps me out. His first remark to me when he looks at my computer is “Wow, that’s an old one!” This comment comes right after he tells a women that they don’t take any trade ins on items older than 2015 which I get. But his comment to me was taken with shame. It’s not like it was the first MacBook ever and deserved that remark. I don’t believe in consumerism and buying new items for the sake of it, especially $1700 new MacBook Pros. I bought mine 3 years ago new and it’s never had a problem. This hard drive issue isn’t the fault of the computer. He runs a free diagnostics test which was nice and comes back and says everything is fine. I tried to ask a couple questions and explain the issue but he wasn’t in the mood of helping or trying to book me in for an appointment to have it looked at further. So with that I walked out and won’t be back in again. Such a shame as the women who originally helped was actually helpful!
Had broken an apple product and they were super helpful and insightful. Had my order replaced in a matter of days.
They repaired my MacBoo under warranty without even a service fee. The guy I dealt with was super friendly and knowledgeable. It was fixed in 3 business days.
Once again Simply Computing saves the day. Every time I’ve had a problem they have been more than happy to help. They are knowledgeable and always willing to help! Simply the best!
Excellent service, highly recommend!
They were awesome with great customer service
Staff were friendly and helpful. Work was done earlier then expected and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
I’ve been with apple for many many years. And this is the first time I’ve had such an extremely unpleasant experience with anyone who represents Apple. I came to them to get my screen fixed. They put on a new screen and when my husband brought the phone to me the screen wasn’t working. When I called them they said that the phone passed all diagnostics and was working perfectly great when released. But then somehow 30min after that the screen stopped working? When my husband took the phone back they said it was a defective part. If it’s a defective part then HOW COULD IT POSSIBLY pass the diagnostics???? They didn’t even check to see if the screen was working after putting it on! And then lied to me when I called and specially asked if they checked that’s the screen was working after doing the repair. This took an enormous amount of time out of our day to drive back and forth and get the old screen put on and then drive back. I told them how inconvenient it all was starting to be. They didn’t even apologize to my husband when he came back so they could take a look at the screen! Absolutely horrible customer service. The level of negligence the employees at this location have is through the roof! And they dared to lie to me too. They couldn’t just admit to me that they DIDN'T do the diagnostics. Because since the part was defective, they would’ve caught it right away. Extremely unpleasant. Very disappointed. And they represent Apple. Wow.
DO NOT FINANCE THROUGH THESE PEOPLE. They offer you "6 months of interest free payment," but when your six months is up, the amount they give you to "buyout" does NOT make sense and ignores the 6 months of payments you've already put towards it. Oh, and don't buyout late, because whatever additional payments that come after your buyout date also do not adjust the buyout price either. And expect to be taxed on the initial purchase and downpayment (on the full amount to be financed) as well as the buyout (the full amount to be bought out), and each individual monthly payment is taxed as well. None of this adds up. After my buyout, I was charged again for that month, and they refused to refund the charge or adjust the buyout amount to match after the payment. I did the math too little, too late. Don't make the mistake of doing the same. Just absolutely shady, crooked business dealings. Will never come here again.
Simply the worst service. Apple shouldn't certify those guys to be their support. It makes the Apple looks bad. We had crack screen and Apple suggest Simply to fix. They fixed it, only two weeks later, the screen start to freeze because it was not installed (glue) correctly. We then go back to them multiple time, reproduce the problem in front of them. The moment we left the store, they send email saying they can't reproduce the problem and ask us to take it back again. Finally we got in touch with Apple support directly and report the issue. We will just ship the phone to Apple and be done with it.
I felt compelled to write a review for Simply Computing in Victoria as I must say they know how to make a customer feel welcome and cared for. I have never walked into this Simply store without being greeted by one or more staff members. There has never been a moment of frustration when a problem has arisen. The staff just handle my questions one by one. I will add that I am in my seventies and, although I feel quite knowledgeable I struggle with some issues, but the staff never make me feel incompetent. In fact they ask me about other possible issues and include them in the requests to the technical staff, who are going to check the computer. The lessons they offer are well structured and informative. The stock of merchandise is neatly displayed and clean. To a person I cannot fault the staff here. The best treat is the "royal" greeting I get when I walk in. Other companies could learn from you Simply Computing. Thank you for your service.
The "new guy" tried to get my "shaw open" connected but ended up sending me to the Shaw store where they fixed it. Had something to do with my firewall.
Yikes - rude, condensing and elitist. Yet again one of the reasons I'll never buy another Apple product is the attitude of so-called Apple "experts". Do yourself a favour and go someplace else.
Made an appointment through Apple and went to this store for diagnose/repair checks completely different thing and says "oh WOW miscommunication". Yes because you never talked to your customer.. Bad customer service VERY POOR. Jeff was just awful. After Jeff checked his own "problem" yeah your phone is fine he says. Then now I explain why I was really there. Jeff then just says oh yeah its a known Apple issue its 400 bucks. What a terrible customer service experience. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND
I just brought my apple laptop in, as there was an obvious bulge under the keyboard and my internet research told me that it was a failing battery and that I should probably get it replaced. They said, let me take a look at this in the back. When he came back he confirmed that it was the battery and that it would be over $400 to fix it. As it was an older laptop, I said, I will have to think about replacing it vs repairing it. So I asked for it back so I could head on my way. They then told me, "Oh, we can't screw the back plate onto it now, as we don't want to compress the battery. So we will have to just tape the back on." I knew it was a 95% chance that it was the battery, there are several recalls out there for apple laptop batteries issues with bulging. Also, as experienced techs, they would have known that they couldn't screw the case back together, so when they opened it up. Now that it has been opened it up and can't be closed properly, it definitely will need to be repaired or replaced sooner. I can only feel that this was done for this reason. They were friendly and were doing a good job of following covid protocols
Best Mac store in town. Incredible, knowledgeable service!
Worst experience after 20+ years dealing with Apple. Brought in my MacBook Pro with a defective "b" key. They keyboard needed to be replaced, which took days. When I received it back, the "b" worked, but now the battery did not. I returned, only to be yelled at and told that it wasn't their fault (since they had apparently run all of the diagnostics). Left it for a few more days and it turned out that they did not reconnect the battery. They reconnected it and I went home to learn that I now had no more sound. When I called about it received the same unprofessional treatment ("not our fault, you don't know what you're talking about etc."), and was told that it would be days to have it looked at (since it apparently had passed the diagnostics again). Took it to Byte, who looked at it immediately. Guess what, the genius had not connected the speakers this time... Never again! UPDATE: in addition to my problems above, I forgot to mention that the wifi has never worked after I took my MacBook Pro to these guys... I have had a laptop that I can only use with an Ethernet cable since...
Ruined my working iPhone. Unbelieviably overpriced, I would suggest going to Blackapple cellular instead. Told me $360 to fix the phone they broke.
Brought my MacBook Pro for a keyboard repair, and it turned out that the tech found an unexpected swollen battery issue. The part took two days to arrive, which is standard, and repair was completed that same day. I was very impressed overall with the service, including speedy repair. The staff were pleasant, especially at pickup, and the computer was in excellent condition. I would return again, especially given the excellent and speedy repair.
Great place to visit. Great group of guys. Great experience. And there is a conner of clearance sale items.
Very good service. Went twice. Once to have a flash drive installed on my Macbook Pro and once to get it fixed because the system update wouldn't work. Staff explain everything clearly and they did both jobs quickly.
Friendly and helpful staff! They were even running a class on using tablets for seniors when I was in.
Went to Simply to get a replacement battery for my Macbook Pro. The service was AMAZING and so friendly. Thank you so much!
IT'S WORTH THE FERRY TRIP TO VANCOUVER TO GET TO A REAL APPLE STORE AND AVOID THIS PLACE! Very frustrated and extremely disappointed by the service at simply computing. I tried to bring my phone in last week because it was clearly bent (apparently this happens to iPhone 6's). I had called in advance to check if they had my phone model in stock but the rude, older gentleman refused to check his stock until they had seen the phone (I wouldn't have even brought my phone in that day had I know they didn't have any in stock). After waiting 4hours I went back and was told that my phone wasn't bent then had to prove to the "apple expert" that it was bent and explain to the "apple expert" that due to the bend that the screen wasn't going black when I made phone calls so I was constantly muting/holding calls and person buttons with my cheek. The "Apple Expert" did not know that iPhones did this. He literally made a call on his phone in front of me to see if this did in fact normally happen (this guy is supposed to be and Apple EXPERT). After finally convincing the "apple expert" that there was clearly something wrong with my phone he THEN checked their stock and realized that they did not have my phone model in stock (this is exactly why I had called to check the stock ahead of time). Finally, two days later when the stock had been replenished I left my phone with them for the day to be replaced. Now, the "new" phone is not working either. The screen is dodgy and does not respond to my touch and has to be restarted at least once an hour. I called to explain this and the same extremely rude older gentleman told me the same thing that "he would not check his stock until he had seen my phone". I explained to him what had happened before and he said "I can't do anything about my stock", which I completely understand, but as a customer bringing my phone in which I know isn't working, you'd think they would give me the benefit of the doubt and at least check their stock so that I know whether or not it is worth bringing it in, because I know that (surprise!) they are in fact going to discover that there is something wrong with this phone and if they don't have one in stock it will be a waste of time! This store is the worst representation of Apple and the experience is terrible. They need a serious lesson on customer service and whoever the older gentleman is, needs to be let go as this was not the first bad experience I have had with him. SO rude!!
I have been going to Simply since they were over on Quadra St. I have found them to be totally trustworthy and more than willing to help with any issues I have had with my Apple products. I have purchased 3 computers to date and will buy my next one from them as well.
Great customer service. I have been there several times & Tony is the best! Honest, friendly & super professional. I won't go anywhere else!
Had amazing service today!! Thank you again we will definitely be back.
The staff here are so helpful, knowledgeable and patent. I could not have had a better experience. Tony Gurr helped me and he knows his stuff !
Poor experience using this place.
Had problems recently with my IPhone and IPad and went into Simply Computing to see if they could help. Jordan was very patient with me and told me what I had to do as it all would take time. I went home and did what he said and my problem was solved. Can’t thank Simply Computing and Jordan enough. Thank you so very much.
Apparently my MacBook Air was”quite infected” with malware and this and that. Simply Computing cleaned it up for me and now it is functioning better than before! Excellent service with a follow up email to inquire whether my computer was performing satisfactorily since being serviced. Very fast turnaround and reasonable pricing. If your Apple device is functioning poorly, consider taking it to Simply Computing in Oak Bay.
Had a great experience here multiple times now. The first was to replace a faulty iPhone battery under warranty and the second was to look at my mac book which had died. Incredibly fast turn around times and the staff is super friendly! Would much rather go here over an Apple Store.
Made an appointment using their very easy to use appointment system, technician was ready for our appointed time, he logged in the repair quickly and sent us on our way. An hour later he phoned to say it was fixed! Highly recommend this company!
Very gruff and unfriendly staff. I'll take my business where it's appreciated.
Beware of Simply Computing's service department. The negligence with which their technician treated my computer was matched by the negligence of management in dealing with my concerns. I've been dealing with Apple techs for twenty years and never had an experience as surprising and unpleasant as the one I had here. I suggest going to London Drugs for repairs instead. Update: After receiving the response from the owner below, I followed up with an email to the address given. There was no reply.
Great experience...very knowledgeable staff.
Knowledgeable and thorough staff. We brought in a broken iPhone to be repaired. Even though they were not able to repair the phone they let me know right away and provided some alternative options.
I've had two training sessions in the last week with Jessica at Simply Computing and her knowledge and teaching manner has been exceptional. I will be booking more.
Horrible experience down there. They ruin the Apple reputation for sure. I totally understand with the pandemic restrictions and limitations. But this store has no respect to clients who use Apple products and services. They don't care about customer service because they think they are the only competition in town. Luckily, there will be another apple-authorized stores coming in town soon!!! The staff are rude as they literally block you coming in and do not provide any guidance of visiting. You have to go into the store and get yelled by the staff and then kick you out and make you wait at the door. Why can't you just put up a sign and a guidance on the front door and let customers know how to access it. Once you're in the store, all they care about is how much third-party goods and services that they can upsell you and make a "fortune" out of your pocket. Avoid this if you can. Really bad experience; and shame on Apple for choosing this as an authorized store.
Thank-you, Kim, for your assistance in the purchase of my iPhone SE. It can be rather daunting when a senior finally makes the leap to a smartphone, but the service and help with setting up was exceptional. Thanks!
Went to Simply Computers -Fort and Foul Bay - the big guy behind the counter said my Apple phone needed a new screen and battery- couldn’t charge. At 475 plus it wasn’t worth fixing so he tried to sell me a new one!!! Next stop BLACk Apple at University Heights. He cleaned out the port and said come back in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later the phone was fixed and NO CHARGE. We have spent plenty at Simply Computers we’re friends of owner’s-Gord’s mother. Thanks for the good service big guy!
Ive called this place about three different days and no answer on any of my calls!!!
Great selection of used macs. Bought a used iMac. There was a small issue that they very quickly solved! I really appreciate the initiative and great communication from their Facebook messaging.
Great value for the money! The in-home service with Cliff is superb. He was able to help set up my elderly parents computer for me. He knew exactly how to hit the sweet spot on what I needed to know to help them versus things I really don't want or need to know! He will be our go to "computer geek" going forward.
Very efficient. Work covered under Apple warranty. Quick turn around.
I bought a new computer there last month and got terrible customer service. The man helping us was very rude, unhelpful, and treated us like we were stupid. It ruined my computer-buying experience. Other people who I have talked to have all had similar experiences. I would recommend going anywhere else.
Booked an appointment through Apple support for iPhone battery replacement. Cadboro Bay rd location had appointments at 11:20am,11:40 and 12:00. I was confirmed for 11:20. Drove an hour for appointment and was told a battery replacement would be 4 hours. Brutal customer service. Wont be buying anything from this store.
Was recommended by a friend. For a 'tech company' they're either ignorant of current business trends, politically prejudice against Covid19 non-compliers or the employee on the phone didn't get the sales memo from management. They have a $40 product in stock I need and I always support local businesses. But in order for me to purchase this product I must come INTO THE STORE, expose myself to other possible Covid19 carriers and wear a mask - against my wishes. I can't pay over the phone and they will NOT provide curbside pickup of any sort - although that's how I've done business with every other business during the War on Covid. Thank goodness for competition.
Thanks to the team at Simply for very quickly and efficiently fixing my laptop and saving the day - I was only in Victoria for a day but they managed to find the time and do a great job. Thank you!
My experience with simply computing was awful. They lack communication with customers and I was treated horribly from the minute i walked in with my phone. If rogers had not told me to go here i would have walked out and gone to another apple certified retailer. The store manager helped me when i first arrived and he was completely condescending and seemed bothered and frustrated that i was there. As i started to explain my problem he half heartedly listened and seemed pre occupied with something else and before i could even finish explain the problem and what i had done to fix it he cut me off and said there is an update here that needs to be done..... if he would have let me finish explain he would have known that i couldn't update my phone. Despite this i left my phone and he told me that it should be fixed tomorrow or someone would contact me with a new timeline. 25 minutes before close the next day i had a friend call for an update on the status of my phone as i had not heard from them and was without a phone. My friend said the party on the other end was extremely rude and seem frustrated and irritated by the call saying an email would be sent when the phone was ready but should be the next day or Thursday at the latest. So Thursday rolls around and i sent an email mid day asking for a status update. Finally the only half decent customer service i have experience from here occurs from Jordan Bornais the apple technician who lets me know my order will be ready either end of day or on Friday. Long store short i would not recommend this store to anyone if you want communication on what is going on or good customer service.
Well informed sales people. Good buying experience. Got what I went in for.
I first wrote a 5 star review for prompt help, but there's been ongoing issues since going to Simply computing. They replaced rather than repaired my iPhone (under warranty), which I thought was great (fast and simple). But the first replacement phone had a dodgy touchscreen and I returned it a couple of days later. The second replacement phone was given to me without the SIM card inside, had to go back to have my old SIM returned to me. Now, it's 2 weeks later I want to change carriers and this replacement phone is locked to Telus (my original phone was unlocked). When I call Telus, they have no record of the phone because Simply Computing never synched the new phone IMEI number with my telephone number. All this suggests some very lazy or poor work at Simply Computing. Wish I could say better things. In the future, I recommend sending your phone to apple directly, or going to Vancouver if necessary. Avoid Simply Computing in Oak Bay - not worth the headaches
Authorized apple store in victoria. The staff knows their stuff and try to help
A friend of mine thought you might help me find the now deleted "NOTES" app on facebook. I am in distress over this as I had all my poetry in my "NOTES" and now it's gone. I didn't receive the info that facebook was removing that app until it was already gone..I have been at my computer for hours trying to find where the "NOTES" are. I would so appreciate any help/suggestions you might have. Thank-you..
Simply Computing gave us the most wonderful service today. Their knowledge base is huge and we left with all our questions answered. This is the place to buy an Apple product in Kelowna.
Terrible customer service. Unbelievably arrogant sales persons.
I received fantastic service! I made an appointment for Applecare iPhone service through the Apple website, showed up and was accommodated even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon. The salesman ran a quick test and sent me out for a couple hours for diagnostics. I received an email two hours later and went to pick up my newly replaced phone! Thanks to Nic and LJ for the quality service. I will not being going anywhere else for anything Apple.
Summary: Awful service, slow response time and incredible overpriced. I brought in a Macbook Pro that needed a new hard drive cable. Upon arrival they charged me a $60 "diagnosis fee" to open up the laptop and try to boot into safe mode, something I already told them I tried, and didn't work. The next day they called and let me know that I needed a new hard drive cable. They let me know the cost of the repair would be $190. I looked up the repair online, and this is a $35 cable that takes 20 minutes to install. It is unbelievable how much they've marked this service up. On top of that, I tried to call them back 5 times the next day to talk to them about it, and did not once receive an answer. I left a voicemail requesting that they call me back, (which they did not). The next day, I called 3 more times, still to no avail. I finally left work and showed up at their business (which was not busy, no excuse for not answer the phone), and told them to proceed with the repair, as I badly needed the device back. I'm shocked that this store is still in business. Both times I was in the store, there was a lot of limited technical knowledge customers that came in and out. I'm appalled to think that Simply Computing is taking advantage of these customers by charging them astronomically high prices and offering such poor customer service. STAY AWAY
They were amazing at fixing my phone they are knowledgeable
I've been buying Apple gear and accessories from Simply Computing for years, and they have always been helpful, patient, thorough and very honest. Their service may occasionally slow but that is because they are doing a good job helping the customer in front of me. And they never rush me, always taking the time needed to make sure I am buying what I need. One of the best Apple stores I have ever shopped at. And special kudos to Tony, who can make the most complicated disaster simple to fix.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE they lend out broken loaner phones which obviously shows how good they are at what they do nothing but a complete hassle dealing with this company deal with apple directly because these guys are useless not to mention they took a 750$ deposit for a phone i can buy online right now for $250
Literally the slowest and least helpful staff I've ever met
My husband and I recently bought a new iMac from Simply Computing (Victoria) and I can't say enough re the friendly, helpful service we received from this store! We're 'older' and the staff at Simply patiently helped us figure out what we needed and then made sure the process of ordering and receiving the computer was problem-free. 'Kim' (the Manager, at the time) was super-great and we think Simply is lucky he's staying on part-time in his retirement! LJ and the rest of the staff were fabulous too! If you're in the market for Apple product, this is the store to buy from!
They were so fast, super helpful and very personable. And they saved my computer!
Went there because my phone was not charging, was expecting to pay $200+ but instead they quickly cleaned my charging port and took out gunk, and my phone started charging again. I know this is kind of standard but I know of a lot of places/people that have been ripped off. They could've very easily said that some part of my phone required replacing and charge me $200 or more but they were honest and did it for free!
Required a new battery for my laptop. Tony got the process started. Very friendly and extremely methodical in ensuring my information was correct and that I fully understood the work involved and the associated costs. I also dealt with LJ who removed a black listed app from my laptop and went the extra mile to remove it from my external drive as well. Super fast service! Great staff! Excellent service all round! Many thanks!
Took my phone in due to software issues and the team was so friendly and welcoming. They have exceptional service, very efficient and fast. They are willing to take time to explain. This is the second time I have gone in regarding issues with my apple products and simply computing has been nothing but amazing. Shoutout to the technician Jordan and JBV for the assistance.
Stunning experience. Not being a tech person, I wanted to upgrade without the steep learning curve. Opened my new computer and WOW. Just like nothing changed. Thank you to Kim and the staff. Ignore the winers...
Unfortunately bad customer service: as if we are doing them a favour by buying from them Lack of knowledge is also a problem
Poor customer service from staff. When I raised concerns and addressed the poor communication, I was brushed off and not heard. Yes, they are competent with fixing Apple products, but not so competent on the customer service side. I will 100% be going to another Apple Service Provider next time I have a problem with my iPhone or Macbook.
This store is amazing. Amazingly frustrating! The fellow that seems to be the manager is an unkempt individual who seems to thinks that the customers are a nuisance that must be endured. One comes away with the feeling that he has done you a great favour by allowing you to be in the store.
Pretty terrible experience here. I went in to get my iPhone fixed and got an employee named Kim(?). He treated me with disrespect, and less than acceptable customer service. He had no idea what he was doing. They made me pay BEFORE they would diagnose my device. It was +$100 more than the store I went to after I asked for full refund. BOTTOM LINE! I would not recommend Simply Computing, nor would I suggest to anyone to work with Kim. The rest of the staff seem to be more knowledgeable and kind.
DO NOT GO HERE FOR WARRANTY REPAIR! I asked about the warranty coverage for my 2017 macbook pro with the faulty butterfly switch keyboard and they told me they wont fix it and I should use compressed air and share the laptop to fix the issue. I asked why not since apple admitted to the switches being faulty and they just tried to get rid of me. I went to Restart computer on Yates and they said thats nonsense and offered to fix the entire keyboard under warranty right away and that they dont understand why simply denied my request even after presenting evidence that apple is offering replacements for this issue.
Staff were very helpful getting me set up with a laptop. Had the knowledge to answer all the questions I asked. Financing process was fast and easy, and I walked out with the laptop I wanted. Definitely recommend these guys for any of your computer needs.
I have used this location for all my computer needs. I have received very good customer service here. I have recommended this store to many of my friends with Apple products who may need service work done or to shop for a new device. 5 stars from me!!!.
