This place is the reason "mom & pop" computer stores are a dying breed. One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I bought a simple card reader and when it DIDN'T WORK, I was charged a restocking fee to return it!!! The guy (who claimed to be the owner) didn't seem to care much when I complained about it. Very surprised they're still in business.

Have always had great experience here. Recently went in to purchase SO-RAM for a Mini PC, I was asking for the wrong type. Staff took time to look up my Mini PC to figure out the correct pieces I needed. No online store can do that. Worth a couple buck more in my opinion, saved me a headache. Support Local!

Incredibly patient and walked me through the whole process of what had happened to my laptop, I was flabbergasted????! Shattered my iPads screen in 2 places, it was ruined. Thankfully, Techmania repaired it within 2 or 3 days. But unfortunately, they broke my home button, it still works but requires more pressure in order to work. Still decently happy with their work.

well what love about this place is that the employee's are nice, BUT they dont sell a huge variety, they sell a lot of cpu's that entitle a gpu to run, i understand they need to make money, but i asked for a overclockable cpu and they dont say anything and allow me to pay for it anyway. other then that good prices and beautiful store, just please dont lie to your customers id rather go to canada computers and they not lie to me

Best tech company I've ever dealt with hands down. Great communication with the staff, they explain things well, and the price...I was dumbfounded by how low it was!! I mean, I almost teared up I was so happy when the price ended up being so reasonable. I was expecting to pay at least triple what I did. These guys are amazing! DON'T GO TO THE BIG BOX GUYS! Go HERE! (my fix was replacing a component in a laptop, work was done same day the replacement part arrived)

A little over a year ago, I was in the market for a new build. The staff at Techmania prvoided excellent advice and even suggested a motherboard, CPU and graphics card more suited to my requirements than I had originally planned - saving me a couple of hundred dollars. Later when I ran into a problems with the build, they provided great advice to help me resolve the issue at no cost. 2 days ago, my system failed to post and I tried everything. Finally took the system into Techmania and Josh found the problem, came up with a great solution and had me back and running smoothly within 2 hours. I am not a power user but have a z270 D3 from Gigabyte, i5 7400, Radeon 560, 16gb RAM, 500gb Samsung 960 pro M2, 500 gb Samsung 860 EVO SSD and a Seagate 8TB evga 650w 80+ gold PSU and 3 monitors. All run perfectly. Would highly recommend Techmania for all your computer needs. Pricing fair, staff extremely knowledgeable and willing to explain the options in laymen terms.

I had a very negative experience here and I personally would not trust their tech department again. I would suggest getting a written statement or email of a diagnosed computer which I don't think is unreasonable. I would highly recommend having all communication through email that way if someone changes their story both sides can see the dialog.

I've recently made two trips to Techmania and on both occasions, the staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the trips was for a laptop repair and tune up, and it was done quickly and at a reasonable cost. It now runs like it's brand new. Overall, this place is great and will definitely be getting my business in the future when I put aside the money for a new Gaming PC build

Thieves, that is what these people are. They sell software that is outdated and when you get it home it does not work. Friend bought anti virus software, was outdated, ended up with virus, went to store and it cost him over $100 to get computer fixed. If the anti virus had worked he would not have gotten virus. Should have been not charge and an apology. I will let everyone I know about this great service.

All I wanted was my Gaming PC cable managed.. It was an absolute nightmare. Not only did they not seem to have any actual knowledge of gaming (or PCs for that matter). I had only a few requests, usujg certain cables and a certain way.. none of which was followed. The owner even removed my "cable management" tray from my case all together. It took 5 days when quoted 1. I was quoted "around $80" as its an easy job. It somehow took them "5 hours+" and tried to charge me close to $600. All this and I barely got what i had asked for. Even my stuff was given back in a terrible state. Unorganized, just thrown in the box. We are talking about a system worth more than $5000. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BUSINESS HERE. YOU WILL FIND BETTER SERVICE ELSEWHERE IN HRM.

I brought my Dell laptop to see if it could be fixed since the battery was not charging, it would work fine with a battery charged but the AC adapter was not recognized. So I asked can this be fixed as it may have a loose connector or chip or anything else. The tech guy said we’ll open it and see it if we can fix it you sign a form you pay 100$ if we can’t fix it you pay 80$ What a ripp off charging 80$ for something that They cant fix , if they are tech mania they should know for a common issue like this wether this is fixable or not right after opening the pc if you don’t see e loose connector obviously i’ts a part problem so why not let the customer know and charge a small fee like 30$ not 80$ for doing nothing not fixing PC . What a joke!! Waste of my time as I explained everything over the phone what the issue is and with Dell laptop thats nr 1 issue with laptops not charging batteries. You can just google and find all kinda of reports!!

Have gone here multiple times now and they will always go above and beyond what you ask for. The owner and his crew are extremely friendly and even if something comes their way that they haven't seen before they will always put in the effort to get it done. The response comments they make here are not lying to you either, they seriously will cut their own profits to make sure you are as happy as you can be. If you aren't satisfied it's likely an issue on your own end and not theirs such as poor communication or lack of knowledge towards your issue, and lashing out towards whoever you can attempt to hold accountable. They're probably one of the, if not THE best tech shop in Nova Scotia and with how things are currently going for them i can't see that changing anytime soon. Just remember, if you have questions ask them you will get answers, If you want something done, understand what needs to be done and put that information to them. The only person who can cheat you in techmania is yourself, not them.

I have never written a google review but feel compelled in the case of this company. I have various issues with not only computer stuff but also odd ball electronic issues with specialty equipment that is very hard if not impossible to get serviced locally. These guys have helped me out a few times when I thought it would be far easier to just say "can't help you with this". They ordered special parts, charged nominal fees for doing it, fixed up some very expensive equipment that I was resigned to putting on display. Good job to all the maniacs at this store.

My iPhone 5s was no longer charging so I started shopping around for prices to repair. My first stop was Geebo and the guy replaced my charging port, and claimed it still did not charge and it must be the charging ic or something? This of course came with a price that nearly doubled and I said no thanks, please give me my phone back and left. I then went to Techmania and the guy checks it out and instantly says the phone is working fine and he charged it up for me. Regardless that no repair was done because it wasn't necessary... this experience really says a lot about Geebo and why you should take your devices to Techmania instead. I had NO issues with my phone and was fully prepared to pay an easy $100 without second thought, however they were honest. This is a place I would trust to take any future devices to. I don't know if Geebo was trying to hustle me for money, if they're incompetent and can't diagnose an issue properly, don't know how to use a proper charger, etc. Geebo left their new charging port in my phone and that is ALL it needed yet they wanted more.

They ensured that I had everything needed for my home build and and gave me helpful tips. Their prices are competitive to other stores and online. Had a wonderful experience and would recommend to anyone requires a custom build PC. They will build it for you for a reasonable fee if you are unsure about how to build a PC.

I was fooling with my laptop today, and boom, the display went black. I figured "Now I've done it, I've baked it". I sprayed my old smoke stained laptop carcass with Windex and brought it in for it's last rites, or maybe an expensive resuscitation. The tech saw me immediately. I started to explain my tomfoolery, and before my laptop had even finished booting up, she had revived it with a few well placed keyboard clicks. Amazing. It was too easy apparently, and she refused payment. I'll bet a less scrupulous outfit would have put it aside, told me to come back in several days later, and charged $$$. They have won my trust, and future business. Edit: A short time later I bought a gaming PC from Techmania. It worked perfectly for about a year. Just before the warranty expired, I brought it into the shop because the GPU was running too hot. Going through warranty meant it would take forever due to the long wait for a new GPU fan. Oh well, right? Nope. *Hanna stood up and robbed a fan from a used part*. It runs perfectly now, and it only took a couple of days. Truly exceeded my expectations. Thanks Hanna, and Techmania.

Went in to get my girlfriends heatsink replaced. The one they had in stock was a little too big to fit. The techs in the store were able to use a heatsink bound for recycling to get the computer up and running again, and didn't charge anything for the work/parts. Fantastic service.

I had a pcm from my vehicle that no one else would touch after it corroded and water had flooded it. I brought it to Ken and he took a look at it. He was upfront about everything and did his best to find out the issues. In the end my vehicle is running and he found all the issues without having the vehicle on site, just by looking over the circut board. The shop rates were more then reasonable and service was impeccable. I recomend ken and techmania for your vehicle electronic needs or any circutboard/electronic needs for that matter. Ken was fast, efficient, upfront, knowledgeable, and cost me 1/10th - 1/20th that it would have cost at the dealership or to buy another pcm even used. Any circut board/electronic issues I have in the future will be brought to Techmania and ken.

Went in to browse while my wife was at a nearby shop. I was constantly approached and hounded by sales staff. I politely but firmly said I’m just here to browse and would just like to do my own thing. This did not work. I will not be back just because I know when I walk in I’ll be forced into a really uncomfortable sales pitch of whatever I’m standing next to. Seems like the staff is being told to do this by management.

Took my laptop in and they ended up forgetting about it for 2 weeks and charged me $300 for it. When I took it back after it still didn’t work the staff got defensive and insisted it worked fine when it clearly didn’t. Don’t trust these guys.

Went there to get cleaning supplies for pc and look at purchasing a new gaming pc, I have Svt cant wear a medical mask on my face directly, have an exempt from a dr. I was asked to leave cause i didnt have a mask just a face shield which wasnt good enough, before i could explain anything, I was asked to leave. Other then violating the disabilties act and human rights section 3 (1), 5 &6, i left a complaint with the BBB, and wrote the company. How can i support local being treated lile this because im healthy and have a disability. Went to best buy they had no issues and i ordered my pc through them, they at least respected me, didnt make feel like dirt. Never going here again.

I called them and asked them a fairly basic question about some parts I wanted to sell. The guy had to forward me to "senior tech support" which made me think most of the people there didnt know what they were doing. It said the prompt "press such and such number to talk to tech support" or something like that. If you dont know what some CPU interfaces and memory slots are from ten years ago, chances are you dont know what you're doing at a computer shop. The lady who he forwarded me to knew what it was and she had an attitude about it. I have some other parts other than those that I would like to sell, which are fairly recent from about a year ago. Though chances are I wont bother with these people for various reasons.

Horrible customer service - I’ve been to tech mania three times now and my experience has been nothing but a waste of time and money. When I had my IPhone repaired the first time it was my own fault obviously from breaking it so .I left my phone with the repair guy and picked it up later that day, I got a NEW screen and casing and he also recommended me getting a New battery at some point in the future due to swelling this probably would affect the life of the battery but he Failed to mention that this would damage my NEW screen , so not knowing that bit of important information I decided to wait and see how bad the battery was being that I’m due for an upgrade in a couple months . After a week the life of the battery had gotten much worse (my fault for not getting a new battery) but on top of that however the lower bottom part of my brand NEW phone screen began not working so this is where I start to get fusteraed, I was not warned at all that this could potential damage the screen and because it wasn’t cracked I didn’t qualify for the warranty, so now I’m out the money I just spent on the NEW screen repair and obviously refuse to pay again because had I known it would damage the NEW screen I would have got the New battery at the same time , I did end up getting a so called “new battery” after it damaged my screen that’s given me nothing but problems , dying on full charge and restarting on its own! I called in today to speak with the phone repair guy and I’m told he’s busy and cannot come to the phone atm so I ask if I can come in and get my battery changed for a new one after work and that I could be there by 530 pm because I wouldn’t be off work until 5 and I would be coming from Halifax , he says yes no problem. I got there just before 5:30 (few minutes Earyler then expected) and I go in looking to see the repair guy only to be told he’s not here sorry You just missed him and askes me to leave it with them as if I wanted to comeback a fourth time . They completely wasted my time and gas getting there. I went to tech mania because they had the cheapest phone repair prices and it ended up costing me more in the long run. If you are thinking of getting repairs here, don’t, I highly recommend you pay the extra and go else where. Reply - How is apple at fault when it was a NEW screen your guy put in? I clearly accepted fault for not getting a new battery but that’s because I was only aware it would affect the battery life not my brand New screen, had I known it would Damage the New screen you guys put in I would have bought a NEW battery right away I only refused after it broke my new screen because it was your guys fault for not warning me being you are the “experts”! I’m not going to pay twice when it could have been avoided by a simple warning Very unprofessional on your end and unless your willing to do right and fix it for free ,no thanks I’m not wasting any more money with your business and on another note if you guys don’t except appointments you should say No when someone askes instead of YES I clearly stated I wasn’t off work until 5 that’s why I showed up just before 5:30 I wasn’t late and it proves your unprofessionalism it’s not smart to talk to your customers like that. if your repair guy had to leave a simple phone call could have saved me a drive from Halifax to Cole Harbour regardless you guys still sold me a dissfunictonal battery that doesn’t work which there is no excuse for!
