Jeff was informative and helpful in offering advice. He shipped out my HP laptop to have the Visual graphics card reflowed at the warehouse . Up front, he told me the price and what to expect in terms of longevity after the repair. I agreed and would spend the money without a problem as I really liked the laptop and it had served me well over the last 8 years without an issue. After 3 days, I received my laptop in great condition with the unit working in tip top shape. Jeff even fixed and replaced one of the keys that wasn't operating for free. He also threw in a 3 month warranty period that other shops were not willing to give me. I appreciated the time he took in explaining things in detail as well. All in all it was a great experience in dealing with the Laptop Specialist. If I can get a year or more out of this laptop, I'll be quite happy ????. Will be going here in the future.

Even brought in my previous laptop, though he found out it wasn't worth fixing since the CPU died. Honest and professional. Jeff knows his job really well and he's super nice. The power power jack on my Asus ultrabook broke, and I got a quote from a few places including Asus. But thenI decided to fix it myself by following a Youtube video. Big mistake! To make the laptop small and light, the manufacturer has crammed the parts so close to each other that a tiny mistake can damage your laptop. I de-assembled the laptop breaking a tiny pice and then tried to desolder the old power jack but failed. Desperate, I took my laptop to Jeff expecting that he would charge me more than his original quote after he saw what I had done. But he replaced the power jack, fixed the part I had broken, and charged me the same amount he quoted originally. Repairing these laptops is not cheap, but his quote was by far more reasonable than the quote I got from Asus.

I'm computer savvy and could have done my own repair but my laptop had a difficult charging connector problem so I dropped it off in the evening for better convenience. Jeff at Laptop specialist is truly a specialist. I brought him my 7 year old Toshiba that was completely dead and not loading and I was so worried for my data but Jeff was able to retrieve all my data from the hard drive! He then diagnosed my laptop with his own hard drive and was able to ascertain that I only needed a new hard drive instead of a new computer. So, I had him put in a 500 gb SSD hard drive and I also instructed him to increase my RAM from 4 gb to 8 gb. My computer is so fast now and better than when it was new!! The pricing was very fair compared to what it would be if I purchased a new computer.

This is the best laptop repair service I have experienced to date. Jeff is no doubt adept at fixing laptops and takes the pain to explain the issues and the steps involved in fixing them. I had multiple issues and was still able to get my laptop within a couple of hours. My Sony laptop got water damaged. I took it to another shop, they told me they can't fix it. But Jeff did! And the price was very reasonable! My first visit, and I'm blown away by the level of service here. I brought my Ideapad y580 here (this laptop is a pain to disassemble, in order to clean the fan). Jeff completed the fan cleaning, re-applied thermal paste, and even cleaned my entire laptop for me. He pointed out several other issues he noticed with the laptop, and did a very thorough explanation of the work involved. I'm very impressed! Highly highly recommended! 10/10.

The Place for Laptop Repairs in Toronto. I've had Jeff work on 2 different laptops in the past 4 years. He always quick to answer any request for an estimate and I've found him to be extremely honest & upfront about issues with computers, including if the laptop should even be repaired. He's gone out of his way to help in a situation in which my computer's fan unexpected broke down and my hard drive wasn't backed up, by allowing me to back up important files on one of his hard drives (temporarily of course), in case files were lost during the repair. Happily, none were. My laptops have always been fixed quickly and for a more than reasonable price. There is no one else I would suggest repair or work on a a friend or family member's laptop.

I brought my Macbook Pro because my sister spilled soda a year ago and didn't repaired it until now that I need it for online classes. My trackpad isnt working, the fan is crazy loud, keyboard's super sticky, and it is also very slow. After reading the reviews I decided to bring it to Jeff to get it fixed and I am very thankful I did! He is very informative into what are the things that needed to be fixed and the costs. He went above and beyond when calling me before repairing, asking my what my budget is and because I don't have much budget as a student, he did his best to fix my laptop with very reasonable price. I'm very nervous when it comes to computer repair, being it's electronics and it can be costly. My HP Pavilion of 4 years turned off and stopped working, BIOS message, wouldn't arrive to the home menu. Was wondering if I had downloaded a virus by accident. Consulted with a few trips to Geek Squad and Staples, let me just say this is an absolute waste of time! They will speculate on what's wrong, pitch that it will cost a small fortune to fix and they promote purchasing a new laptop, and of course the trusty extended warranty speech. I came across Laptop Specialist, saw many positive reviews regarding his work. Decided to give it a shot before I consider a new laptop. Jeff first of all is very informative, seems like a very intelligent gentleman. He mentioned to me that the hard drive most likely is gone. Advised to purchase an SSD hard drive, an upgrade from the cheap factory version that goes into computers. SSD hard drives have much better reliability than traditional hard drives. Purchasing these hard drives in brand new laptops is expensive, large mark up! Looking at $800-900 and can easily climb higher. He mentioned he'll first test the hard drive, if it is gone then he will open the brand new one once I've given the go ahead. I purchased a Samsung brand SSD from Canada Computers for about $100. Jeff had it installed in a few hours. He also installed Windows 10, the newest operating system available. Jeff charged me a very reasonable amount for installation. While we were having a conversation about word processing software, I told him I use OpenOffice which is free, does all the things Microsoft does. Jeff had it installed for me in the computer when I picked it up. Didn't even ask, awesome gesture and much appreciated! My total cost was a quarter of what I would've spent purchasing a new laptop! I'm so relieved, have never dropped my machine and have always kept it in great condition. I basically have a brand new laptop for a couple hundred bucks. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Thank you so much Jeff!

There's a first time for everything. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. This was definitely in the good column. I send them an email to get a quote and got reply within a day. I then took my laptop to the shop and the guy was able to detect the problem right away. I had a dim issue with my HP HDX 16 and the guy was able to fix it within a day as well! My laptop screen had a fair amount of internal bleeding and he replaced it in about ten minutes! Very quick repair for me, probably quicker than average. And he charged a very reasonable price, compared to the estimates I got from other businesses. My laptop is as good as new now and I have a three month warranty for the repair. Overall great experience. Highly recommended. 2018 Update: I visited this place two years ago (2016) for a screen replacement and was very pleased with the quick and efficient service (The screen is still in perfect condition). I dropped my laptop the other day and some of the keys stopped working so I came back for another repair. Again, great service, just like the first time. He fixed the problem very quickly and charged a very good price. Would highly recommend.

Laptop had problems closing (the cover would pop out or crack if I tried closing it all the way) and the fan would grind/knock which could be heard all over my house when I game. Checked up the review of this place and was surprised that so many people gave it a high review. Decided to take the chance. Jeff's knowledge gave me great confidence he can fix my problems. He updated me on the whole process, and this was all fixed in about three hours (and he had other repairs completed too as I saw other laptops waiting for their owners). Fast, knowledgeable and extremely approachable and friendly, I would come back again for any computer problems and will definitely spread it to my social circle.

Went into clean my heat sink & replace thermal paste. Offered a very fair price and finished in a reasonable amount of time. Also, my laptop is a model where to access the heat sink and fans you need to disassemble around 80-90% of it, but Jeff still honoured the price and provided great service and communication throughout. He also diagnosed another small issue with my laptop during the cleaning and tried to assist me in fixing it, free of charge. Temperatures of my laptop have improved since then. Would recommend to anyone and will come back for any future issues.

Jeff, the proprietor of Laptop Specialist, was great. My Dell laptop needed a new power jack. Jeff did it for $75 and inside an hour--the Geek Squad from the Best Buy on Laird Drive wanted to charge me $600 for a new motherboard, and that wouldn't have solved the problem of a loose power jack. Jeff made sure the new power jack was secure and even gave me a warranty on the repair! I will take any and all laptops needing repairs to Jeff in the future!

I have brough my laptop to jeff a few times... keyboard. Jack issue. Thou i shoild get a new one. The last time with jack issue he found another issue with the hinge. He could charge me full price but it wasnt too much extra. His price are about what i see at other places but it usually quicker. Like when i got my keyboard replace. 80 with part and labour. Within 20 mins? PNIC nearby quoto 100 and one day and five to seven if they dont have the part. Kevin who fix computer was one day and 75. Slightly better but im use to taking it to Jeff. I had no issueand i came by 4 times. August 2020 update Three years later and in still going Jeff. His prices are relatively still good but the perk as I said is turn around time. He can get most things done in the same day maybe one if needed. Just reliable to keep.going back and for that I think it's worth improving the rating

My significant other accidentally dropped her laptop on its rear end, with the AC cord plugged in, and after it fell, we weren't sure if the plug socket was damaged. The AC cord was visibly damaged, and we were planning to buy a new one. We brought the laptop and cord to Jeff, who went through all the possibilities and explored other visible issues with the laptop (a battery issue, for instance). He repaired the power cord within the same day. It was a proprietary cord and expensive to buy a new one, and although he doesn't usually repair AC cords, he did it for us, and we are super grateful. He didn't try to upsell. He was super genuine, he told us exactly what was wrong with it, what he would do to fix it, and how soon he would be able to fix it. 10/10 will definitely use your services again!

My own experience here, in one word, is Perfect. Our laptop's hard drive was damaged, it looks like a total lose to us, but Jeff still managed to export all files we need from that goner, 6.7 GB in total, and he also installed a new hard drive and operation system onto the laptop. Before going to this shop I called Sony and they told me to call their local warranty/repair shop that quoted nearly double what this placed charged. Jeff at Laptop Specialist quoted me a price to attempt to repair my laptop fan, but warned me that it may not fix the issue. After working on my laptop, a simple repair couldn't fix it. To my surprise, he didn't charge me anything despite working on my laptop, since the issue was not resolved. He suggested I order a replacement fan myself (and took photos of the original to assist), as this would be cheaper than having him order it for me. Once the replacement arrived, he installed it and fixed the laptop very quickly and for a reasonable price. I highly recommend Jeff's work - he is very capable hardware technician as well as an honest businessman who is not just out to get your money. I'm in a software development college program and I will be recommending him to anyone in my program who needs repairs done.

My 4 year old Dell Inspiron 7559 is working great however the plastic broke where the hinge connects the screen. Jeff examined the computer and gave an honest and very reasonable quote. I brought in my wife's Asus gaming laptop with two cracked hinges and Jeff had them fixed in about 90 minutes. He explained that the manufacturers have moved to entirely plastic lids and that he'd insert some metal plates and use metal studs to hold the whole thing together - the way it should have been built from the start. Jeff's a pleasure to work with, he explained his process and why the solution made sense. It was an entirely no-nonsense experience quite unlike dealing with any of the big box shops. My wife uses the system for her currency trading. She commented that the symmetrical spacing and tiny size make the studs look like jewelry.
