Well, my macbook pro just crashed and corrupted one day and i had no hope for it even being usable anymore. I unfortunately encrypted my macbook without HD backup so there was very little hope for my data. But Dan got my macbook up and running again and installed a new internal hard drive for me! I appreciate the time and care he took for my computer, while not rushing and giving me back an unusable piece of metal. My last computer conked out a couple of weeks ago but I had another one - only problem was that all my important info was on the hard drive of the old one and I couldn't access it. Microdyne was able to though. Within a few hours, they had all my important info recovered. I can't even begin to explain what a major relief that was. Now, about a year or so after this review was posted. I have to add an update. I've had a couple of other issues regarding my computer since then, just standard stuff, and Microdyne was able to help me and with no problems at all. I highly suggest that anyone who needs their computer looked at should go to Dan. The work is professional, the cost is undeniably reasonable and you know that you're getting the job done right. I definitely recommend Microdyne for any help you might need with your system. There's no doubt they know what they're doing.

I have used Computer Central and Memory Lane for computer repairs in the past, but decided to try Dan at Microdyne Computer Services for a number of various reasons which I won't go into, but I will say that I am glad that I did. I found Dan to be not only knowledgeable and honest, but also very fair in his pricing. Perhaps the fact that he runs his business out of his home has allowed him to pass this savings on to his clients. With the number of people working out of their homes these days, I certainly don't have a problem with it, especially if it is going to save me some money. ;-) In addition to repairing my computer, I feel that he went above and beyond his duties as a repair technician when he helped try to troubleshoot computer problems over the phone on a second computer I had at home, in the late evening hours. This is what I call customer service!! You will not find any better.

My experience with Microdyne Computers began with a new computer that was running to slow in terms of home studio usage. I had contacted Microdyne and was welcomed by Dan Dueck who was very friendly and professional. I had told him everything I could about my problem and he replied saying "leave it up to me, and I will get things up and running properly for ya." I was amazed the next day when I had recieved a phone call from him stating that the computer was ready. I thought what? surely this would've taken local retail computer outlets at least a week to complete and contact me. WOW, clean install, tweaks and all unnecessary bloatware removed. I highly recommend going to Microdyne Computer Services for your computer problems!! The customer service was excellent and my computer was returned to me within days! Not only did Dan work endlessly to fix the hard drive in my Macbook, he went above and beyond by cleaning and tuning up every part of the computer internally and externally, installing the latest software for Apple, and even replaced a few missing screws from the base! This is a 6 year old Mac and it feels like a brand new computer. All of this was done at an extremely reasonable cost that would easily have been tripled at any other computer store! I went to Microdyne today after a referral from a friend. I was told that Dan would repair my computer and explain what was happening so if it was something I did I would know how to prevent it. It turns out it was something out of my control. A bad update or something made it so my computer wouldn't start up and kept starting over. Dan had my computer running by the next day and explained to me what had happened. He fixed my computer at a very reasonable price. Had a hard drive that had failed. Many years of family pictures and documents that I just couldn't fathom loosing. I took it to a place in town to attempt to have information taken off and it was recommended I send it down to a data recovery place in the states. That companies quote was a minimum of $2500us. Decided I needed to call around and ask for a second opinion as that seemed a bit rediculous. Called Microdyne and Dan was amazing. Together we discussed what was going on, I brought it to him and he hooked up to the hard drive and ran a quick test. He knew exactly what was going on and was paitent with me in explaining what mechanically was going on and how that effects the data on the HD. Together we decided it was best we send it to a facility that had a clean room. He said he had the abilities to pull off the information but didn't want to chance loosing anything as he didn't have a clean room if mechanical components failed and caused more damage. We found a place in Calgary contacted them and sent the HD their way. I received a new HD with all my data on it within 3 days of sending and it was only $750cdn. This review is way late as this happened many months ago but I promised I would write something. Dan didn't charge me a penny and saved me thousands of dollars. I am forever grateful for his patience and willingness to explain to someone just wanting to understand how things work. If you ever have any computer troubles in the future, I 100% recommend!

I am a student at Microdyne Computers Services and I go there every weekend to take the IT Courses taught by Dan the store owner. I really enjoy these lessons because he analyses the students coming in to personalize each lesson. He starts out with a standard "template" that teaches in all three different learning styles, Kinesthetic, Visual, and Auditory. From there he will adjust the method of teaching accordingly. Customer service is excellent because he communicates with customers at a personal level, gives them honest advice with machines, and relays information in an easy understandable manner.

I don't have the means to test my PC parts when/ if they fail. I woke up last Tuesday after a power outage and found I could not turn my computer on. EXCEPTIONAL! I am a wedding photographer and did the worst thing any photographer can do... reformatted a memory card to later find out your hard drive crashed and you lost all your client's photos *insert string of swears here*. I cried in frustration frantically trying to figure out what to do. I started researching data recovery in the area (as a total skeptic, to be honest). I came across Dan at Microdyne. I called him and was instantly more hopeful based on his knowledge, certifications, and suggestions. I dropped off my hard drives and XQD Card with instructions to recover the formatted XQD card first (if possible) and to try try the corrupt external hard drive next. Dan followed my instructions precisely and did not complete a bunch of work so he could charge more (this is the kind of service I fear). Not only was he a professional and honest, I kid you not, HE DID IT! Same day service, INCREDIBLE pricing, and nearly a full recovery of my XQD Card (I still have to cull through the files with a fine tooth comb, but I am willing to bet it IS a full recovery). Dan was amazing to work with. He took his time to explain things in non IT terms. He literally saved my butt. THANK YOU, DAN!
